Question: Has anyone on the alkaline diet noticed they haven't gotten any colds? I read a book that says you can fight off colds way better if you eat only alkaline (basic) foods instead of acidic foods. Has anyone experienced no sickness if you've tried this diet?
Answer: If the body fluids are too acidic (pH less than 7.35), the growth of microbes in the respiratory systems are encouraged, invading the cell system. This can result in colds and infections.
When eating according to an alkaline diet, you are able to balance your pH levels and thus are able to fight diseases and infections more successfully.

Answer: What is the Alkaline Diet?
Other names: alkaline acid diet, acid alkaline diet
An alkaline diet is a diet that emphasizes, to a varying degree, fresh fruit, vegetables, roots and tubers, nuts, and legumes.
Our blood is slightly alkaline, with a normal pH level of between 7.35 and 7.45. The theory behind the alkaline diet is that our diet should reflect this pH level (as it did in the past) and be slightly alkaline. Proponents of alkaline diets believe that a diet high in acid-producing foods is disrupts this balance and promotes the loss of essential minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, and sodium, as the body tries to restore equilibrium. This imbalance is thought to make people prone to illness.

Lack of Vitamin B2 foods( Riboflavin) ; B6 (Pyridoxine and Pyridoxamine);B9 ( Folic acid ) and B-12 or Cyanocobalamin) . can cause anemia.
Vitamin B is water-soluble, so it must be replenished every day through the diet or supplements. There are many foods rich in vitamin B. Some natural sources include bananas, potatoes, tempeh, lentils, other whole grains, chili peppers, green vegetables, eggs, dairy products, and meats including turkey, tuna, and liver
Wild salmon, avocado or maybe beans or sweet potatoes, all have B vitamins.
Brewer's yeast, used to make bread and beer, is an excellent source of Vitamin B. Any food or beverage made with brewer's yeast is rich in vitamin B. However, consuming beer in excess will have adverse health results, and alcohol interferes with the body's absorption of vitamin B-1, so be careful not to defeat your own purpose.

Question: Hi guys, I need to know some recipes from an alkaline diet for my dad. Would anyone mind helping me? I need recipes because all the sites that I've gone too just give me examples of what foods are included in an alkaline diet. But I need recipes in order to cook for my dad. I cant just give him random stuff for him to eat and its been stressing me out since I don't know what to give him exactly. Helping me would be amazing. Thanks guys for your help. =]
Answer: I advocate a low carb way of eating which is an alkaline/acid balanced diet (contrary to popular misconceptions). Even the strict induction phase of Atkins if done correctly (using eggs, whey, chicken breast, tofu & others as protein) can fit into the restorative alkaline/acid balance
Edgar Cayce was an advocate of the alkaline/acid balanced diet, I tried to follow this but my carb addictions were too strong. It was not til I started Atkins low carb way of eating was I able to quickly (within 3 days) get rid of my carb addictions and convert to a healthy way of eating. I have been doing Atkins low carb way of eating for 6 years and my diet constantly evolves to more & more healthy. I plan on doing this for life.
I have looked over the internet for alkaline/acid based diet guidance but most require monetary investment. Like you I found a listing of foods. Which would suggest salads & soups or protein & vegetable meals.
The most important thing to remember is that the body needs to be fueled by calories that are not protein. Protein should not exceed 30% of calories in any diet. In a carb based diet (burning glucose as fuel) calories would come from mostly acid forming foods, there are not enough calories in fruits and vegetables to fuel the body. In a fat based diet (burning dietary fat as fuel) it is very easy to get sufficient calories to fuel the body and some fats are an alkaline forming food & others are neutral but no naturally occurring fats are acid forming.
=======================================================================
per the links -
In general, the alkaline/acid balanced diet involves eating certain fresh citrus and other low-sugar fruits, vegetables, tubers, nuts, and legumes and avoiding grains, dairy, meat, sugar, alcohol, caffeine and fungi.
20% acid forming foods = meat, fish, poultry, egg whites, refined grains, sugar & processed foods +prunes, plums, cranberries & sour cherries - peanuts, beans, corn, lentils
80% alkaline forming foods = figs, egg yolks, whey, cottage cheese, chicken breast, yogurt, tofu, seeds, some fruits, green vegetables, pea, spices, herbs, seasonings & nuts, olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil - lemon - watermelon - cayenne & cantaloupe - sea salt
Neutral - butter, cream, oils
Question: What is a balanced diet. Do not complehend acid-alkaline diet. what is it? Please explain, my health is getting compromised by this alkaline- acid diet which tells you acid is bad and for me alkaline is equally bad. Tell me what you know.
Answer: A balanced diet is usually a diet comprising the following ratios:
50% carbohydrates
30% fats, preferably monounsaturated fats
20% Protein.
For diabetics, however, they should adhere to a low carb, low fat diet high in protein.
If you google "Food Pyramid" You can see how many servings of each you need per day.
If you are diabetic, then you google "Diabetic Food Pyramid"
Read here about the alkaline diet:

An acid diet is anything that is not part of the alkaline diet (AKA typical western diet).
An alkaline diet is actually a good thing. It is comprised of veggies and healthy items.
An acid diet is full of dairy, meats, coffee, sugar, and many other things that are bad for you.
Stick to salads, fresh vegetables and healthy nuts and oils. Try to consume plenty of raw foods and at least 2-3 quarts (liters) of clean, pure water daily. Steer clear of fatty meats, dairy, cheese, sweets, chocolates, alcohol and tobacco. Packaged foods are often full of hidden offenders and microwave meals are full of sugars and salts. Over cooking also removes all of the nutrition from a meal.
Question: What is a low acid and higher alkaline diet like? I know that bananas are alkaline.
The focus is on low acid diet, not losing weight. It's about a UTI type symtom that comes with acids, and avoidance with alkalines. Anyway I just bought a banana.
Answer: All food you eat produces either acid or alkaline in your body. Our diet in the Western countries is too acid and it causes many problems.

If you are very acidic you should go on an 80 % alkaline diet (20 % acidic foods only) for about 5-6 months and even after that be careful about eating too much acid producing foods.
Question: What kind of foods can I eat during a alkaline diet? Am thinking of trying a diet that involves eating less citric foods. Any suggestions on what to eat?
Answer: An alkaline diet is one where you consume foods that don't produce acid ash, which makes your body's pH more acidic. This means no animal products (no meat, dairy, or eggs) and lots and lots of plant-based products.
Question: Alkaline diet - Who has a quick summary and what is it? Internet searches only bring up ads. I just need someone who is following an alkaline diet to share with me what their daily routine is---IN GENERAL.
Answer: here, this link should help a bit..
Question: Would you recommend the alkaline diet? I'm not interested in a dramatic weight loss.
But i am interested in a diet that provides, energy, strength, and vibrancy. One that is healthiest for my body that will enable me to live a long life. I'm 20 years old, good shape, i have a pretty inconsistent diet.
is the alkaline diet something you'd recommend?
Answer: No, it's not. The alkaline diet discourages grain, diary and meat. Grain is a great source of fiber. Lack of fiber can lead to constipation. Diary is an important source of calcium. Lack of calcium can lead to weaker bones and teeth. And meat is an important source of nutrients too. Vegans who don't eat meat comonly suffer from deficiences in protein, iron, Vitamin D, B12, and a bunch of others I can't remember of the top of my head.
My advice is to follow the USDA Food Pyramid(see link)
Question: Anyone tried the alkaline food diet - is it any good? I've heard that eating alkaline foods is healthy and also helps you to lose weight - has anyone tried this diet?
Answer: What can you eat batteries?
Question: Has anyone here tried an alkaline diet? How well does it work? How did you feel at first? what did you experience while eating alkaline based foods. More insight the better, I appreciate the feedback, thanks you guys..
Answer: It's a good diet for anyone who is too high on fat. You need to watch this diet carefully as too much acid (from alkaline) can be harmful you. Read my source for more info if you are interested.
Question: Would eating a high alkaline diet within a week be beneficial? Just want to see whether eating high in alkaline food and drink will make me feel better in a work; increase my fitness slightly etc
Answer: An alkaline diet is not a diet you choose for one week. It is a change in your lifestyle. This doesn't necessarily mean that you can never eat meat again or have a cup of coffee.
If you chose to eat according to an alkaline diet, you try not to eat more than 20% acidic forming foods such as meat, yeast products, coffee, alcohol, etc.
Probably you won't feel anything after 1-3 weeks. But your body will gradually get rid of acid wastes which are built up in your body. When eating alkaline - in the long term you will feel more energetic, lose some pounds in case you are overweight, your skin will look firmer and you'll have fewer cravings for fast food and sweets.
If you'll just try it out for 1 week - don't expect miracles! Still, you'll eat a lot of healthy stuff, so anyway - yeah it's good.
Question: Can anyone recommend some yummy alkaline diet recipes? I'm keen to hear breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack ideas. Many thanks in advance.
Answer: I found a great alkaline asparagus soup recipe on raw food support. It's really YUMMY and of course healthy.
You can find it here:

Question: Anyone do an alkaline diet to lower your acidic ph? I am starting the process. I was wondering if you felt a lot better after? I am pretty acidic right now and I want to feel healthier.
Answer: i tried- could not do it. but i do think you will feel better if you can. the foods are healthy and they say we are born with a more basic pH, but for some reason as you age it becomes more acidic (probably from all the nasty foods we Americans eat.) GL.
Question: Who follows an alkaline diet? Can you tell me more about it? I have recently been exposed to information ab Looking to contact actual folks on an alkaline diet.
Answer: cleansing your body will improve your ph and make you more alkaline. Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing impurities from your body. You get impurities from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The impurites get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the impurites. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! Question: Does anyone follow an alkaline diet? I have heard that by creating a more alkaline ph in your body, you can resist many diseases, as disease thrives in a more acidic environment. How does one go about this? Links would be great as well. This question is for the alternative health people, as I am sure no western doctor subcribes to this theory.
Answer: I follow the alkaline diet about 1 year now. I am really happy about the positive effects I have been experiencing, such as weight loss (4 kilos which I had no chance of losing before), improved skin, more energy while exercising, and no muscle pain after exercising.
I am so grateful that I've discovered this diet for myself. I really believe that a healthy lifestyle can prevent many diseases including cancer, obesity, allergies, etc.
I usually retrieve my information from this site:
http://www.balance-ph-diet.com
They provide an acid alkaline food chart on their site.
