Question: Is it healthier to be overweight or underweight? I have always wondered wether it is healthier to be under or overweight. I always hear that overweight people are really unhealthy, but are underweight people just as un healthy?
Answer: i am under weight and perfectly healthy but i guess i depends on how u got that way like if you have a slow metabolism it would be heather than eat to alot. same with under if you have a fast metabolism (like me) you r more healthy than starving your self or throwing up every thing u eat.
Question: What can I do symbolically to signify a new, healthier life? This coming Monday, I am going to stop smoking, start exercising, and start eating healthier to lower my weight. I have always tried to do these things before, and failed. I figure if I do something symbolically to signify my new healthier lifestyle, I will be more likely to stay on track.
Any suggestions?
Answer: 1. frame up your last stick of cigarette and seal it. make the whole project troublesome (so that you won't want to do it again), then hang it up on the wall or give it to your love one. grab a digital camera, take a nude picture of yourself with your big tummy (if you have one). change your hairstyle to one which is only suitable for a slim guy so that you'll look ugly and that'll make you hate your appearance so that you'll want to change it.
but one warning, quit smoking means weight gaining. i suggest you do one thing at a time. don't be so ambitious.
good luck!
Question: How can I eat healthier without my friends staring? I'm in high school right now and I want to eat healthier and lose some weight. I usually bring my lich to school cause the cafeteria food is pure fat. The thing is that I want to bring some healthy foods to lunch but I bring just fruits, my friends will be asking me what that's all about. So can anybody tell me some healthy choices to bring to lunch that won't cause so much attention?
Answer: packing a lunch for school is a great idea if you are trying to eat healthy. In order to eat healthy you have to consume a balanced diet. you can't only eat fruit. You need dairy like yogurt or cottage cheese or even some brick cheese. you should eat vegetables too. Make a salad, bring a lunchmeat sandwich. all these things provide nutrients and are low fat options.
Question: What is a healthier alternative to slimfast? I wanna lose weight. Question: Is there a healthier alternative to pop corn? I like to have pop corn when I watch a movie. But it is not healthy. Is there something healthier that still tastes good? Any suggestions would be great.
I don't mind pop corn with out all of the extra stuff but my family does. So I'm trying to find something that we all would like.
Answer: Pop corn is actually the best snack you can have if it's air popped and without butter, salt, or sugar. If you want the healthy popcorn you have to do it yourself though.
Question: Is it really healthier to be a vegan with all the heavily processed vegan foods? I really belief it is healthier to avoid meat, especially after reading the article in my medical journal that prooved it causes cancer. However, many of the vegan foods are heavily processed. Is it healthy to eat all these heavily processed vegan foods? I mean, lets face it, I doubt people are sitting around eating fresh fruits and vegetables. I want to note that I am asking this question out of curiousity, I personally am a raw juicearian.
Answer: Stay away from the fake meats, ice creams, and cheeses then. A true vegan diet is based on fresh: beans, peas, nuts, seeds, grains fruits and veggies.
Question: How healthier and how much weight could I lose? Today is July 2nd. If I begin to eat healthier and cut out all junk food, get rid of any liquids other than water, do 1 hour of cardio everyday and 50 situps with 20 pushups everyday, what would the end result be by august 2nd?
I weigh about 175 right now.
I'm 5 foot 10 inches.
I will bike and jog.
This will be everyday until August 2nd.
How much weight should I lose? Will I look and feel better?
Answer: You can lose 3 pounds a week if you do it right. Just keep doing what your doing except dont do pushups everyday, go for every other day and do some weight lifting. You should cut down to 1200 calories also. I lost 50 pounds and almost have a 6 pack and I feel much much better, not just physically, but also psychologically.
Question: How can i eat healthier on a budget? I'm a college student and don't have a lot of time to make a homemade meal every meal and every day. Do you guys have any quick easy healthy recipes i can afford and eat?
I really am into health and i am NOT looking to lose weight, i just want to eat healthier.
ALso, if you guys have a meal plan that would be great : )
Thanks : )
Ask me to answer you're questions, i'll answer.
Answer: Buy a slow cooker, it saves time is easy to clean and very convenient (link at bottom). Consider dedicating a few hours in the week to cooking and preparing meals. Stuff like chicken can be kept for about 5-7 days once cooked and dont taste that much different once you nuke it.
Dont hesitate dressing up the food i.e. adding mayo to chicken and including herbs, or adding a sweetener to oats (you can get these in a fine powder too which makes them easy to digest even raw) Most healthy food unless red meat imo is pretty tastless or bland and need to eat alot of it to hit maintenance calories and your get bored very quickly if you dont add spices/herbs/vinegar/ketchup etc to the food.
Also when considering a sweetener avoid aspartime and use sucrulose (sp?) it might not be as amazing as some of the herbal stuff but its been tested a lot more thoroughly.
Question: how to grow longer and healthier hair after it has been damaged? ok so i've been straightening my hair every 3 weeks for about two years now. i would also touch it up with my straightener whenever my roots and edges went back to normal. now, my hair stays straight most of the time, but it's damaged and has gotten shorter. what can i do to get my hair to grow back longer and healthier so that i can do certain hairstyles with it. i really want it to just be long and healthy!
Answer: To improve hair growth you need to improve overall hair health, healthy hair and scalp will improve growth and condition of your hair, which in turn means you'll have fewer split ends - even though you're growing your hair still get regular trims as there's no good in hanging onto split ends. Hair grows from folicles, as new hair cells are made old ones are pushed out to the surface of the skin where they harden and die creating hair. As hair is dead hair treatments effect on growth and hair quality are limited, you need good overall health to really improve hair health and increase growth.
Try monistat, yes it's a yeast ifnection cream, but it contains some of the same chemicals as rogaine so stimulates hair growth when massaged into your scalp, only without costing the earth. Massage is a seriously good way to help increase growth, I like to massage a few drops of rosemary essential oil into my scalp before washing my hair, rosemary is belived to stimulate hair growth. Massaging your scalp will improve health of your scalp and hair, also massaging promotes circulation around the hair follicles to promote growth, just use your fingers to massage your scalp in small circular movement being careful not to rub as it'll damage your hair. Get into the habbit of massaging as often as you can, before washing your hair and also massage during washing your hair.
I highly recommend going without shampoo, it'll vastly improve your hairs condition and increase growth, essentially it is avoiding shampoo as this is nothing more than harsh detergent that strips away hairs natural oils and can contain harsh chemicals. If you stop using shampoo your hair will be much healthier, stronger, shiny, easier to manage, will grow faster and it won't get greasy as when using shampoo your scalp overcompensates by creating more oils to replace what shampoo stripped away. You still wash your hair but instead use either water-only, no-poo or conditioner-only/curly girl methods. For no-poo you use one tablespoon baking soda to one cup of warm water, apply to your roots working it in and let it sit for a minute, this stimulates blood flow, cleans pores and gets off built-up grime, then rinse with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to one cup water, let it sit for a minute and then rinse out. Long-haired people tend to prefer the curly girl method also known as conditioner only, simply use conditioner to wash hair with as this has enough detergent to cleanse but won't strip hair of natural oils as shampoo would. Seriously, don't be scared to try it as you're guaranteed better hair. More information;

Avoid hair dryers as overheating can damage your hair and never rub with a towel as it will damage the hair cuticles, instead leave to dry naturally or if you do use a hairdryer use protecting sprays and choose a dryer with lighter or cooler settings – use until your hairs 90% dry, no more. Also try using a hair brush with natural bristles as these are much genler on your hair and can improve shine, another tip is to use a satin or silk pillow as this prevents hair snagging as it can on other materials, it also helps smooth hair so improves shine.
Avoid chemicals as much as possible, most commercial toileteries will contain some pretty nasty chemicals that can cause a lot of damage to your hair – even those products that claim to improve hairs condition. Look into natural brands like Lush or Neal's Yard, or even consider making your own hair care products, there are plenty of cheap books or web sites about with natural hair care products you can easily make at home. Avoid chemical dies too, I saw first-hand how bad chemical dies were for my hair, it was very badly damaged and took trice as long to dry or style, switching to henna dye is so much better, and as well as used for changing hair colour it can also be used as a fantastic conditioning treatment (use deep conditioning treatments like henna once a month). The best place for henna is http://www.hennaforhair.com
Things such as stress or bad diet can seriously effect your hair, I saw the huge effect diet has on hair when one of my friends sadly became anorexic, the effects started showing allarmingly fast, as well as effecting general health her hair became so brittle it would litterally fall appart in her hands. Don't underestimate the importance of diet, don't follow fad diets or yo-yo diet, instead keep up a good healthy diet at all times and don't punish yourself for the occasional treat. Particularly helpful foods are oily fish like sardines, oats, nuts, seeds, guavas, papyas, and of course lots of water, using a good multivitamin will help (you can get hair & nail vitamins but they aren't necissery) and also I'd recommend flax seed oil in capsule form.
Question: How to eat healthier at a japanese restaurant? I'm going to a japanese steakhouse where they cook in front of you tonight. I dont eat red meat, so I'll probably be getting chicken and shrimp. Is there anyway to eat healthier? Anything I should or shouldnt eat?
Thanks.
Answer: Get grilled chicken (yakitori) if you can, and I agree that it's healthier than shrimp. Steamed rice is better than fried rice, of course, and ease up on the soy sauce. Chances are, the meat is well-seasoned already.
But why don't you try some sushi or sashimi? In a lot of habachi restaurants, they prepare sushi in a separate place within the restaurant. You can still order it, though. But do be prepared for the habachi chef to throw some shrimp at you.
I don't think it can get healthier than raw fish, though opt for salmon instead of tuna or eel, which are fatty. Also, stay away from the sushi rolls with mayonnaise-based sauces (any of the "spicy" rolls)
Question: Would it be healthier to just drink fruit and vegetables juices only? I am still doing my research on just drinking fruit and vegetable juices only. Do you think it would be healthier to drink everything you put in your body and not eat any solid foods?

That is just plain gross.
Michael H, can you try to be positive. Your response was uncalled for. The problem with vegans is that we need to unite and saying mean things to each other.

Question: How could I help my lovebird to be a happier and healthier bird? I have a lovebird and I was wondering how I could help my lovebird to be a better and healthier bird. I had him for six months and I've been taking good care of him. I need some more information about lovebirds. Thank you.
Answer: Hi,
there are many different ways to stimulate your bird. the best way is buy enrichment. there are four types of enrichment: solo, social, environmental, and variance. these techniques will help keep your birds mind in shape. i will explain each one.
Solo enrichment - when you are not home or when the bird is not out of the cage he needs to know how to entertain himself. foraging is one of the best activities he could be doing. this is the best kind of solo activity because it mimics a birds natural feeding behaviour. to do this you can buy a toys that is destructible. like a toy made out of straw. hide some of his favourite food in it and he will find the food as he destroys the toy. this is a fun activity. here is an example of a destructible toy:http://www.parrotdiseperch.com/parrot/shop_details.php?prod=1869
my birds all love to bounce on their boings. these toys are made out of rope and they bounce around. they are excellent toys. here is one: http://www.parrotdiseperch.com/parrot/shop_details.php?prod=885
that should be a good size for a lovebird.
Social enrichment - when you interact with your bird this is called social enrichment. there are ways to make out of the cage time more fun.interactive play involves the bird riding around on your shoulder and you scratching the birds head. anything that involves the bird interacting. indirect attention is when the bird is sitting on a perch outside of the cage and you are doing something and the bird can still see you. bath time is another form of social enrichment. birds love bath. also when bird eats with you they enjoy this a lot and this is also social enrichment.
Environmental enrichment - your bird is inside all day and probably does not get to hear the sounds of outdoors too often. by putting your bird near a window and letting him here and see the outdoors this is reminding him of the real world. birds love to see new surroundings. if you play ocean sounds in the cd player it calms them down. they really like this.a play area away from the birds cage is a good idea. in the wild they would not stay in the same place the whole day so giving them an alternative to their cage is a good idea. environmental enrichment is important.
Variance enrichment - most birds love to get out, you can buy a travel case and take your bird the the park. they will enjoy the change.so not let your bird of the carrier.if you do not feel comfortable taking your bird on field trips you can create variance at home. change the location of your birds cage from time to time. in the wild they will not live in the same tree for their hole life. always rotate your birds toys once a month they need the change of environment. variance enrichment always helps keep your bird happy.
I really hope i helped. but if you have any other concerns please feel free to email me at [email protected]
Question: What would be some good exercises and meal plans/ snacks to eat to get healthier? Me and my mom are trying to get healthier and lose some weight, so we would love to get some tips and some exercises for at home.
We also would love some healthy meal plans and or snacks to snack on.
If you have anything that could help, please answer!
Thanks!
Answer: Start weight training and cardio to get your metabolism up. This will burn off your fat.

Question: What are some good examples of how technology has made us healthier and happier compared to a century ago? It's for a debate.
I seem to be finding a lot of stuff that says the opposite. (technology has not made us healthier/happier).
Could use some help.
Answer: Im not sure there are too many arguments in favor of tech making us both more happier/healthier, obvi tech has improved life expectency and its almost gaurenteed this trend wil continue, as for happier all that comes to mind is things like washing machins and dish washers , and maybe supermarkets, so food is cheap and we have to work a lot less to maintain ourselvs, but if your looking at planet earth as a whole, the things we take for granted like cheap consumer goods has had a high cost on poorer regains of the world
