Question: Which LEDs look best when paired with blue ones in a computer case? my processor heat sink has a green LED fan in it, i was wondering if green and blue LEDs/cold cathodes will look nice. If so, how many of each color cold cathodes will be needed? I have a antec 900 case.
Answer: i think blue and green look cool together
Question: How do I remove Blue LEDs from my electronic equipment like my monitor and speakers? Even a mod like placing a new light in there would be useful. I want something that looks nice, so using black tape or a marker is not something I'm currently considering. I have a new set of Creative T20s (excellent sound) and the blue light is blinding! The ones on my samsung monitor and surge protector are not as bad.
Answer: its as simple as opening up the device, and unsoldering the old LED from the point which theyre placed, and soldering in new ones, making sure theyre in the right way (you should be able to see through the LED, therll be a big end, and a little end.. make sure the new one is the same direction as the old)
I did this with my PS3 horizontal light stand, the blue light was boring, so at one end, i put a green light, and at the other i put yellow, so it now looks amazing!
Hope this helps..
These should help too

Question: What are the laws in Indiana regarding blue LEDs on a vehicle? I'm putting together some serious blue glow for my motorcycle and I just bought the tire valve caps that light up when the wheels are moving. Does anybody know the legality of using blue lights on a vehicle in Indiana? Also I would like red lights for my car so are the laws any different for red lighting?
Answer: Red & blue is reserved for emergency vehicles. The police can issue you a citation if any of those lights are facing forward of your vehicle. They can also confiscate the lights, so if they are not cheap, you may want to reconsider using a different color.
Question: What kind of battery would i use to power 18 blue LEDs? I'm gonna try to install some LEDs in my guitar under the pickups so it glows, and i want to know what kind of battery it would take to power them, and be bright. Also, what kind of a resistor should i use?
Answer: A blue LED will need from about 3 to 3.5 volts at 20 mA to operate correctly. A li-Ion rechargeable battery is 3.6 volts. Almost ideal for something like this. You'd need to wire the LED's in parallel with a 3.6 volt battery. 18 LED's at 20 mA would be a total current of 360 mA. You could also wire 3 NiMH batteries in series for 3.6 volts. If you wanted to use the LED's for 1 hour you would need 360 mA hours. For 2 hours you'd need 720 mA hours and so on. AA sized NiMH batteries are rated at about 2600 mA hours and would run 18 LED's for around 7 hours.
Since the battery voltage is so close to the LED voltage you don't need much if any resistance. You could put a 10 ohm resistor in series with each LED just to be safe is you wanted.
Question: Do blue LEDs make your computer go faster? Someone told me adding blue LEDs in your computer case will make it go faster. He uses Lunix so he's usually right about computer stuff. Is he right?
Answer: who ever heard of Blue lights making things go faster ... everyone know RED ones are faster ... they're lights dude ... whether you have the light on or off ... it don't make you any prettier ...same as don't matter what the color is ... it aint gonna be any faster .... LOL
Question: Why do my blue LEDs in my new pc fan not work? I recently got a COOLER MASTER RC-692-KKN2 CM690 II Advanced Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119216 and the blue LEDs never lit up when I put everything together. This is my first build but it should work.. is there an easy fix or will I need a new fan?
Answer: maybe you have connected them round the wrong way LEDs are polarized + and - they won't work the other way round
Question: could you use red yellow blue leds to make any color? I am tring to make diffetent colors with leds insted of using rgb leds I wanted to use the primary colors red blue and yellow would this work to make the colors in the color wheel I do plan on using knobs to control how much of each light is coming out
Answer: Take a look at a CIE chromaticity diagram (a color version), such as here:
http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/vision/cie.html
If you pick any three colors and locate them on the diagram, then draw a triangle using those three points, you can generate any color within the triangle by mixing the lights appropriately. So if you pick red, blue, and yellow, the triangle won't encompass the greens. There is no combination of red, blue and yellow that will generate green.
By the way, you don't have to limit yourself to three colors. You could use four and draw a 4-sided shape on the diagram. Three happens to be the minimum number, is convenient, and with RGB, happens to match the receptors in the eye. But the eye doesn't care how the frequencies are generated.
If you dig deeper, the statement that all colors within the triangle can be generated isn't stricktly true. Luminance is another dimension that factors in:
http://www.brucelindbloom.com/index.html?ChromaticityGamuts.html
The numbers 400-720 around the perimeter of the chromaticity chart are the wavelengths in nm of pure colors (100% saturation). When you buy LEDs, take a look first at what wavelength is their predominate emision. The LED manufacturers publish this number. Then look to see where they fall on the perimeter of the CIE chart, draw your triangle, and you will see what colors you can reproduce. Here is an LED color chart that maps LED color names to actual wavelengths:
http://www.meisemi.com/LED/color%20chart.htm
You can control the intensity of the light either mechnically (with a shutter), by controlling the amount of current, or by changing the on/off duty cycle of each LED.
Question: What are the blue LEDs for? I just purchased a used Volvo from a dealership. I noticed two blue LEDs on the grille. They come on with the headlights. They are definitely an aftermarket product. The dealer did not know what they were for. Any ideas?
Answer: I would bet they were added for looks. Someone thought the blue light in the grill would look cool at night.
-Unless somebody got conned into thinking that it would mess with laser speed guns. There have been stories about different light frequencies messing with the cop's speed guns for years, and products to match. None of them work, all the products are rip-offs.
Question: Are Blue leds illegal on the front of a car? I want to make some custom Angle Eye rings to go around my headlights, but would blue light be illegal in California?
I forgot to mention that the led's will not be facing out to the road. the light will be showing through a plastic rod
Answer: They're not illegal but they're definitely annoying. It's horrible when you're driving at night and bright blue lights smack you in the face like that. Gives you a headache and startles you for a moment so It's best to not go with them right now.
Question: what are good affordable power supply for 600-700 watts and with blue leds? my front and back fan is led and so is my front panel and i need a good power supply that has blue leds between 600-700 watts at a good price that will last me
Answer: antec neopower 650 blue
Question: what resistor would i need for blue LEDs? i am currently attempting to mod my xbox controller with blue LEDs... what i need to know is what resistor will i need if i am using 4 1500-2000 MCD blue LEDs... any help?
th link to the LEDs ill be using is http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.9077

Answer: W=A x V .02 x 10=.2 watts Therefore use a 1/4 watt resistor
Question: Im useing 6 red/blue flashing LEDs and want to wire them up to a 9v? I'm not sure what volt they are so I don't know what resistor to use. How do I find out what volt they are or what resistor to use.
Answer: LED's are rated by their Forward voltage and current rating. A Red LED has a forward voltage of around 2 volts with a current of 20ma(milliamps). A Blue LED has a 3.5 volt forward voltage @ 30ma forward current. If you want to use 9 volts as your power source, subtract the forward voltage of the LED from the 9 volts, then divide the LED forward current into the difference, which in this case would be 7/LED forward current. Adjusting the value of the resistor around the resultant value will also determine the brightness of the LED, but you must remain within the envelope of the LED ratings.
Question: Do small blue LEDs emit ultraviolet light? If so, how much ultraviolet? Is there a difference if the blue LED peaks at 470 nanometers compared to 455 nanometers when it comes to ultraviolet light?
These blue LEDs for example: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31355277@N03/?savedsettings=4703565805#photo4703565805
They run on 3 button cell batteries.
Answer: Usually there isn't much UV emitted by artificial light sources, except those designed specifically to emit UV.
Most glass and plastic is a band pass filter, which usually is opaque to UV.
Question: What are some uses for blue LEDs? I know that they're supposed to be brighter than other kinds, and you need them to make white light, but what are some practical applications for them?
Answer: Emergency vehicles use them due to the fact you can see them from farther away, and they appear much brighter.
Question: Where can i get blue leds? i have blue led fans for my pc case but i still need some led's to light up the front of the tower, where can i purchase led's by themselves? any retail locations? or online CERTIFIED stores?
Answer: check electronics stores
the source/radio shack
ebay
