Answer: I don't know which distro your using (ubuntu, mint, fedora) but you may want to check out the forum for which ever distro you have. They will probably be much more help than anyone on here.
Question: What mutation has occurred from GCA CCG AGA to GCA CAC GAG?
Answer: insertion - an extra letter was added and moved everything over
Question: Arginine - GCA - explain why a mutation that changes the last base will have no effect? I know that Arginine is coded for by CGT, CGC, CGA, CGG, AGA and AGG and that a point mutation doesn't affect the polypeptide produced. But this is a four mark question. I'm not sure that I'm able to explain WHY
Answer: I think you understand it -- it's because of the degeneracy of the genetic code, where many DNA sequences encode for a single amino acid, as you correctly pointed out.
I wouldn't get hung up on the number of points here.
Question: Where is the GCA number on an iTunes giftcard? easy 10 points!
Answer: do you mean the code you need to enter? If so scratch off the silver on the back on the card and enter the number underneath.

Question: Can a convicted felon own Airsoft and not be in violation of the 1968 GCA?
Answer: AirSoft "guns" are not firearms, and the 1968 GCA does not impact their ownership. This is the official position of the US government, via the BATF.
If the convicted felon uses one in the commission of a crime, however, it will be considered a "weapon", since the victim of the crime "reasonably believed" it was a gun, and the felon will be charged accordingly.

Question: I set up .9182/.5L X 40.1 gCa (including mole to mole ratio of 1/1) but didn't get the right answer...? A 0.9182 g sample of CaBr2 is dissolved in enough water to give 500. mL of solution. What is the calcium ion concentration in this solution?
Answer: The majority of the mass of the sample is due to the Br2
First find the molar mass of CaBr2
Molar mass CaBr2 = 40.1 + 79.9 x 2 = 199.9 g/mol
Number of moles CaBr2 in sample = 0.09182 g / 199.9 g/mol
= 4.59 x 10^(-4)
= number of moles of Ca in the sample
Now M = #moles solute / liters of solution
So concentration of Ca2+ ion = 4.59 x 10^(-4) mol Ca2+ / 0.5L
ie [Ca2+] = 9.2 x 10^(-4) mol /L
Question: If the sequence f nitrogenous bases in one strand of DNA is GTA-GCA the sequence of bases on its complementa?
Answer: You can remember by this acronym. AT and CraiG.
Therefore, CATCGT.
Question: Which amino acid is coded by the dna codon gca? Using this diagram? http://portal.techhigh.us/Teachers/lauritsenk/PublishingImages/genetic%20code.jpg

e) none of the above
Answer: e) none of the above
Question: Which of the following is the correct DNA sequence for this DNA strand: CAA-GTT-GCA-TCG? CTA-GAA-CGA-ACC
GTT-CAA-CGT-AGC
GUU-CAA-CGU-AGC
GAU-GAA-CGA-TGG
Answer: C goes with G, A goes with T, so...
GTT-CAA-CGT-AGC
Question: Compar ethe original sequence GCA CCG AGA to the mutant sequence GCA CAC GAC and determine what type of mutati on has occured.
Answer: Assuming you haven't made typo there are two mutations, an insertion of a A between the fourth and fifth base, and the substitution of a C for a G at the eighth base in the sequence. Check your typing carefully.
