Hcg

Question: hCg-------? I had a miscarriage back in July of 2007. At 8wk5dys, my hCg level was 4600. The next day, 8wks6days, it was 4198. Miscarriage. So, I know I'm very well capable of producing hCg. I'm 4 days late on my period. LMP was 6|11|08. My periods are irregular [33days], so the day of my estimated arrival of AF [7|14], I would be [if I am] almost 5wks. I took two EPT's 2 days ago & both negative. Went to the dr yesterday - had bloodwork done. Shld get results by Tues. But my question is: Since I know I can produce the hormone, as I did in my previous pregnancy, if I were pregnant now [5wks1dy], wouldn't the hormone be more than obvious [show up on tests]? Or do hCg sprouts vary w/ each pregnancy? Thanks in advance! W/ my last pregnancy, I got a dark + at 6.5wks. It was an HPT.

Answer: I believe it does vary with each pregnancy. Your body was officially changed forever after the miscarriage. It handles hormones differently now. And now, a year later, your body might just be acting differently to how it was last year. I would say wait a week and test again. What kind of HPT were you using? Was it First Response or Answer? The regular kind not the digital kind? I believe those are the most sensitive. I was pregnant in May/June of 2007. I got a positive 2 days before my period was even due and I had a blood test. My HCG at about 70, then quickly dropped to 27, then 14, then 3. over a week. (Miscarriage) January I got pregnant again. It took me two weeks after my period was due to get a positive on even the most sensitive test so, below a 25... and then suddenly was shooting up into the hundreds and thousands and doubling like blazes. I was stunned!!! It was completely different with this pregnancy. And, it might be with you as well. As I said, I would suggest testing again but you get the blood test results on Tuesday so, that wont be needed. BUT... call them on Monday and bug them a little over the phone. I drove them crazy at my docs office the second time because I was dying to know but they did get the results in earlier then they expected.
