New Breads
Question: Why is my brand new freezer making food (mainly breads & veggies) taste funny. That is why I bought a new one.? I purchased new food when I got my new freezer. I have baking soda in it too. Please help!
Answer: Well, sometimes a new freezer has an odd smell that might make the food taste different, or it could be freezing them differently, which might effect the taste. Give it time and it'll probably get better. I don't think it's anything to really worry about though. ^_^
Question: Have you tried some of the "flat breads" that are new in the supermarket? How are they?
Answer: Yes, I love it when they're sold so fresh.
We use them as roll ups for all sorts of meals.
My favorite, scrambled eggs,cheese,orange bell peppers & sausage. I can't wait till breakfast.
Question: Are those new whole grain white breads just as healthy as whole grain wheat and rye breads? Nutritionists are recommending that we all add more whole grains to our diet. Manufacturers try to mislead us all the time. Are these new whole grain breads better than wheat and rye?
Answer: Look for 3 grams of fiber at least in any bread. "Matthews" is the only bread with no sugar and trans fats. That's what I eat.
Question: How to make Dominos new pasta bread bowls? I keep seeing Domino's new bread bowls on TV and want one, however I don't live anywhere close to one. I was wondering if anyone on here had a recipe on how to make some pasta bread bowels. I would love to have them for dinner tonight. Thanks!
ok I dont think I'm getting my question across. I do realize that I can hollow out some bread but I'm wanting to bake the pasta in the bowl of dough. So I guess I'm looking for a qood recipe
Answer: you can use your own ideas it doesn't need to be just pasta you know! you can also fill it with meatballs, stew, vegetables and pasta , all you need is to use your imagination and buy a loaf of round bread cut the top of and use it as a lid , empty the bread and fill it up

You need to make pizza dough for this , place the round dough on a cookie sheet and in the middle deposit the ready cooked pasta but make sure to have a bit al dente otherwise it will be mush , I would make another circle for this and use it as a cover seal the sides by wetting a brush and with your fingers seal the seams , place the loaf in the oven and bake for 35 minutes or until golden at 425F , remove from oven place on a platter with a sharp knife cut the lid off and now you have a pasta bowl , you can even buy the dough already made to save you some time if you like ., you can get garlic, whole wheat, etc.. depending on what you find at the store , I would go whole wheat.
Question: Are the new white pastas,breads, and tortillas with more fiber really good for you?
Answer: the good fiber or the better atleast comes from whole wheat and whole grain...no enriched but you should have about 50/50 of each in your diet..and 25grams of fiber daily

Answer: Why on earth would you give up bread? Bread is good for you. People didn't suddenly get fat all throughout history because bread was invented. Don't put too much faith in the latest carbs=evil diet fads.
Healthy weight loss is 1-2lbs a week.
Your body needs a certain amount of fuel (food) each day to stay alive and do any exercise/activities that you're involved in. If you eat slightly less than this amount then your body will burn fat to make up the difference. If you eat way less than this amount, you'll go into starvation mode and won't lose anything.
Figure out how many calories you need to eat each day to lose weight, how many extra calories you burn through exercise, and how many calories are in the foods you eat. You can do all of that here:

Answer: Ice cream and donuts are vegetarian so with a diet like that you cannot expect to lose weight. See site below and learn what fats make you fat and what fats actually make you thin and how they do that. Salt has no calories but makes you fat.
Never cut carbs, fats and calories. Eat foods made by nature, not man-made foods designed to make you fat and addicted to food. Which has more calories: a plain potato or one with a healthy fat like olive oil (extra virgin and cold pressed)? The latter. Which is more fattening? The former. How can this be? The fat slows down the calories going into the blood (see glycemic load and glycemic index) making it less fattening.

Question: How much time needs a canary hen for a new breading? I had a canary hen with eggs, but her eggs were infertile. So my question is how much time needs a canary hen in order to breed again? Also what to do with the nest to through and she will make again a new one?
Answer: leave the nest alone. i dont know how you know the eggs are infertile but if its past time for them to hatch and a week or if you candeled them or if she doesnt have a mate then you would know. if i was sure i would pull the bad eggs out and she should lay again soon.I know when a hen lays eggs that hatch she then lays agin quickly as soon as nestlings leave the nest.

Beki, I know what you mean. I am on this weight loss program and have lost 10 pounds so far. I won't try one until I reach my goal at least half way.
Answer: They look absolutely abhorrent. They're bleached and enriched flour pasta in sugary sauce in bleached and enriched bread.
It's not so much weight gain from them as the diabetes they'll give ya.
Question: Whats the Best Bread for my new diet ? I'm starting a new diet where you eat all the nuts and sandwiches you want. I have to make the sandwiches out of the better stuff, ie Mustard, chicken or turkey meat. Cheese is ok, pickles because of the vinegar but keep the salt down. Only thing is I'm not sure which bread is be best. Most honey wheat breads have to much sugar. I like the wheat breads, rye, ETC. I'm trying to stay away from refined flower and sugars. Answer: I eat Sara Lee's 45 calorie bread that has 100% whole wheat in it. Never buy into breads that CLAIM they're whole grain unless it says right on the bag 100% your diet also seems a little radical seeing as nuts are high in fat (which can be good but in high doses can be very bad) and sandwiches offer a lot of carbs which break down in your body as sugar. Why not try a balancing act? fruit, veggies, meats, dairy, etc. make sure to get all 4 food groups.. eating only those 2 things is going to hurt you in the long run as you can never maintain it.
Question: when is the new bread delivered to supermarkets? i have heard that there is a specific day of the week that supermarkets put the fresh bread on teh shelf (like the Wonder and Sunbeam)

Answer: It varies depending on supermarket. The delivery drivers have routes and they work every day so it won't be the same at two stores unless they are just down the road from each other. You can ask at your grocery store.
Question: help with my new bread maker? i recieved a breadmaker for christmas and am having trouble making a whole wheat bread that rises decently, does anyone have a suggestion??

Answer: there could be several problems. i assume your bread machine came with a recipe book. use it.
if you are using only whole wheat flour, instead use half whole wheat and bread machine flour. whole wheat is heavier and doesn't rise as much.
check your yeast. is it alive? proof it.
use the whole wheat cycle on your bread maker. it's different than for white bread.
get another bread cook book that deal only with unusual breads. they can give you more useful tips.
google the manufacturer, and "bread machine recipes","whole wheat breads", or any other sites that tell about machine bread. they usually have a variety of recipes including whole wheat.
forgot to tell you about the liquid. make sure it is not too hot, will kill your yeast.
when the bread maker kneads the dough in the beginning, make sure it's not too wet, sticks to the sides of the pan, or too DRY, where you see raw flour on the ball. watch for several minutes to make sure the amount of moisture is correct.
enjoy, you will get to LOVE you bread machine just as i do. use it almost every day.
Question: Do refurbished bread makers come with new bread pans? I just bought a refurbished Cuisinart convection bread maker and was wondering.
Answer: you should be able to order a new one directly from Cuisinart if it's not too old. there should be a model number printed on pan. that's really all you'll need. happy baking.

Question: Need recipe for New Orleans peach bread pudding? A few years ago, I was in Mother's Cafe in New Orleans and they had a peach Bread Pudding that was out of this world. It had both the consistency of a creamy pudding and the consistency of bread pudding and big chunks of peaches in it. Does anyone know the recipe for this delicious dessert?

INGREDIENTS:
4 cups torn French bread
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
3 large eggs
2 to 2 1/2 cups diced canned peaches, juice reserved
1/2 cup peach juice
1 1/4 cup hot water
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 325°. Butter an 11x7-inch baking dish.
Tear bread into a bowl.
In a large bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk and eggs; blend well. Add diced peaches, peach juice, hot water, melted butter, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Cool slightly and serve warm with ice cream, whipped topping, or dessert sauce. Cover and refrigerate leftovers.
Serves 8.
