Oxygen Therapy
Question: What Is The Cost Of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy? I would like to know what the cost of hyperbaric oxygen therapy is? I asked this question before, but no one answered the question.
Instead, everyone either explained what hyperbaric oxygen treats or they just dodged the question.
I know what hyperbaric oxygen is all about and I do not need any explanation. All I would like to know is what the cost of hyperbaric oxygen is. Thank you.
Answer: I'm sure it varies but here are some links below that give prices.
Looks like $100+ and up for a daily treatment.
Or you could buy a unit for about $14k.
Question: Is ist possible for death to occur due to over admistered oxygen therapy; at night for instance? My husband has COPD and is being treated for Sleep Apnea via oxygen therapy and a face mask for sleeping. Is it possible for him to receive too much oxygen while sleeping and ultimately causing death?
Answer: Depending on the liter flow. Some COPDers can only handle 2 liters of O2. While others can handle more. Find out what is the best amount of liters of O2 that he can handle. One that gives him a good sat and does not make him feel bad. A way to tell if he is getting to much O2 or if the liter flow is too high, is if he becomes drowsy and incoherent. Too much O2 flow can knock a COPDers drive to breathe and will make them sleepy and not want to breathe. The bad effects of O2 come from the liter flow and not how long they have it on. He can have it on all day and be fine but if you increase the liter flow too much it can make him sick.
Question: what si the treatment for the child with pulmonary tuberculosis and with long term home oxygen therapy? the child is now 7 years old having pulmonary tuberculosis and with three years of home oxygen therapy. please tell is there any treatment that can cure this disease or tell me any alternate solution for this as quick as possible. waiting for answers.
Answer: Tuberculosis can be treated with antibiotics (several types at the same time) and the child will probably need a short stint in hospital to start with. After the treatment is working and some improve has started to come through, the child can then be returned home to continue with the medication. So get the doctors involved in this case as soon as possible.
Question: is there a ethical reason to withhold oxygen therapy from a patient who maybe dying of throat Cancer? I Know the medical reason for oxygentherapy but I want the ethical reasons why you may withhold o2 therapy. If the patient only requires a liter of o2 from a oxygen concentrator. Does this liter going to prolong a person life
Answer: I can't imagine it would (make a huge difference), unless that cancer has matastasized to the lungs. And then such small quantities are likely to be of little to no observable value.
The parameters of a DNR may indicate a person's wish not to have such therapy administered. Then it would be "ethical" and infact "legally binding" to honor the wishes expressed in that document. Though I must admit, I've never seen O2 withheld.
I know it's common not to intubate a patient to secure their airway if they have a DNR but, in my experience, hospice patients are made "comfortable," sometimes at great expense. And most medical treatments are for that purpose only and not to prolong life. O2 is necessary for our very existence, but supplemental amounts in such small quantities are usually for comfort and to prevent the patient from becoming "distressed"... not necessarily for "therapy."
Question: How can I sleep on oxygen therapy? My dr just put me on oxygen therapy at night because my oxygen saturation levels were dropping to about 82% at night (according to a sleep study). They brought the concentrator out Monday and I'm supposed to sleep with it on.....but, I can't sleep with it on. The last 2 nights I have lain there awake for 2 hours and finally had to turn it off so I could get any sleep at all. It kind of makes me feel funny....maybe it's just anxiety but it feels like my heart is doing flip flops/palpitations in my chest. I can doze off for a second and then awake in a panic with my heart racing.
Plus, it's loud but I can't put it in the hall because we have dogs and cats in & out & I'm afraid one of them would chew up the tubing. And, I don't like anything on my face.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any possible negative side effects to using oxygen? I think I'm only on 2 lpm, that's not much is it? I think I'm just nervous about it.....can anyone put my mind at ease? Thanks.
Answer: This sounds like a Cpap mask that one has to wear while sleeping so they won't have low sats and quit breathing. Most sleep apnea persons dont' enter REM sleep either.
I would suggest that you talk to the person probably a pulmonary doc about this.
You may need some sedative med to take to get you through this. Are you claustophobic? I would contact the doctor.
Question: O2 sats 81 percent does that mean oxygen therapy? I was just told that when I had a sleep study done that my o2 sats went down to 81 percent. Will I have to go on oxygen therapy?
they said that I stopped breathing 7 times an hour, but if they was going to put me on a cpap then I would have went back to the sleep clinic for the 2nd night but the Dr. wants to see me in his office next week. I do have a few lung problems COPD is one of them.
Answer: Did they also tell you that you stop breathing? Or is it just that you desaturate while sleeping? Many people desaturate and are helped by low flow oxygen just for while they sleep. The two could be separate problems and are treated differently. If you stop breathing then they would order CPAP or BIPAP. If it is simply that your oxygen level drops they would order the supplemental oxygen.
God bless.
Question: Are there differences between hydrogen peroxide therapy and oxygen therapy? My mom has cancer and we are using oxygen therapy and want to know if hydrogen peroxide therapy is better...Please advise.
Answer: I've been on a Hydrogen Peroxide routine for years now and have never been sick. I take 10 drops of 35 percent "Food Grade" hydrogen peroxide in my water two times a day and I use a 1.5% "Food Grade" Hydrogen Peroxide solution in a nasal spray pump a few times a day too. I used to have bad allergies. I haven't had allergies in years. Anytime I even start feeling a little sick, I take a few sprays, and bye bye illness.
I have read alot about cancer and AIDS patients and Oxygen and Hydrogen Peroxide treatments. The difference is one is an IV drip with Ozone for Oxygen Therapy (O3) and the other is an IV drip with Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2). The first has an extra oxygen molecule and, therefore, is more than likely more effective. In either case, they are both good in my opinion. This is what Magic Johnson apparently went through to get rid of his AIDS. It's funny (not really) that after he got well, the FDA shut down the clinic. Anyway, if I ever had cancer, I WOULD DEFINITELY pursue Oxygen and Hydrogen Peroxide therapies NO MATTER WHAT THE CONVENTIONAL MEDICAL COMMUNITY SAYS.
I AM POSTIVELY CONVINCED THAT THE CONVENTIONAL MEDICAL COMMUNITY PURPOSELY AVOIDS THE SUBJECT OF GOOD OLE SIMPLE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T PATENT IT AND IT'S SO INEXPENSIVE TO PRODUCE. OF COURSE, THE FDA IS COMPLICIT IN THIS SILENCE.
The conventional medical community is quick to say that there is no evidence that Hydrogen Peroxide can help people with various ailments. And then they tell spooky, scary stories about how people have died from hydrogen peroxide or gotten ill--then you find out they drank it in rocket fuel concentration or something. They are ridiculous. Anyway, yeah, okay, that's why every MOTHER AND GRANDMOM in the world has a little brown bottle in her house. Ever had a cut? Did it help? Ever had a toothache? Did it get rid of your toothache? Ever had wax build up in your ears? Did it bubble out the wax in a few minutes. YES, YES, YES, YES. Why?--because Hydrogen Peroxide kicks the sh1t out of bacteria.
Best of luck!!!
Question: Have you used or do you still need Oxygen (O2) for any kind of therapy? My question is, have you been ill and in need of oxygen therapy to recover? If so what was your illness, how did Oxygen helped you, was it expensive?
The other question will be, are you ill now and been told that Oxygen will be good for you?
Answer: Yes, following a big operation. Just temporary.
Question: Has anyone ever heard of hyperbaric oxygen therapy? I have been looking into it for my son. He has cerebral palsy. I've heard that it helps the brain. I'm just wondering if there's anyone who has used this therapy and if it has worked of at least helped a little bit.
Answer: It's actually not an alternative medicine. Hyperbaric therapy is simply increasing the oxygen available to the body under a certain amount of pressure. I've heard it as effective for wound care and other ailments. It's also used for treating bends, when a diver returns to the surface too quickly.
There was a recent study of this theapy for children with CP, and the results were mixed, and some acrimony seems to exist between reviewers and researchers.
It's worth at least spending some time looking into.
Question: I need information from those who are knowledgable in oxygen therapy? I saw this commercial a few days ago about this new invention for those on oxygen. I can't remember a whole lot of the details but this thing uses the air around you to "create" the oxygen you need, so I guess you don't need those oxygen tanks, and it's light weight and like a white box. It's a new thing on the market, but I can't remember what it was called. Can someone please help me?
Answer: Hello... I happen to be an Respiratory Therapist... yeah it works awesome... Can't think of the name of it... but I have seen them before... I think they are known as Oxygen concentrators... all they do is take out the nitrogen... from room air. They work great... Hope this helps....
Question: Can Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy make us age slower? Some people say it could. Others say there is no evidence for such. Anyone know of any realistic studies done?
Answer: Oh you'll never find a realistic study on anti-aging with hyperbaric oxygen or any other therapy. So let's go totally surreal. One Hundred Years of Solitude surreal.
Last month a group from LSU in New Orleans shared the results of a butterfly experiment. Yes, butterflies. What a great idea, huh? Lifespans in hyperbaric oxygen were pretty much normal for the caterpillar and chrysalis stages but quite longer than normal for the imago: 19.4 days with HBO versus 14 days average in nature.
This particular group of winged insects lived 38.5% longer in a hyperbaric oxygen habitat. Fascinating. But you and I can probably count on better results with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and plenty of sleep.
Question: How effective is the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in elderly patients with diabetes?
Answer: Quite effective i would say.
Questionable is whether to put an elderly patient through the ordeal of going hyperbaric though.
TITLE: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy in diabetic foot.
Author: Doctor N ; Pandya S ; Supe A
Abstract: To study the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in chronic diabetic foot lesions, a prospective controlled study was undertaken. Thirty diabetics with chronic foot lesions were randomised to study group (conventional management and 4 sessions of hyperbaric oxygen therapy) and control group (conventional management). The patients were assessed for average hospital stay, control of infection and wound healing. The control of infection spread was quicker. Positive cultures decreased from initial 19 to 3 in study group as against from 16 to 12 in the control group. (p < 0.05). This difference was most pronounced for Escherichia coli. Also, the need for major amputation was significantly less in the study group (n = 2) as against the control group (n = 7) (p < 0.05). The average hospital stay was not affected. We conclude that hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be safely used and is beneficial as an adjuvant therapy in chronic diabetic foot lesions.

Question: How much does it cost for HYPERBARIC OXYGEN therapy? sorry for the annoying capital letter, i just copied and pasted.
i need to know the cost, i think my brother might need it. and my mother, possibly me and my father too.
Answer: A HYPERBARIC OXYGEN therapy (HBOT) session can cost from $100 to $200 in private clinics, to over $1,000 in some hospitals.
What you need it for? Medicare may cover or reimburse the cost if the diagnosis for application of HBOT is one of those approved by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS).
Question: How do get certified to do hyperbaric oxygen therapy? What schooling do you need?
Answer: The highest certification is through preventive medicine board certification or emergency medicine board certification with specialization in hyperbaric oxygen

Question: I would like to know the cost of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in India? somebody please guide me with the cost of Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy in India per session.
Answer: The total cost per child of eight months of MMT, inclusive of Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy for 40 sessions, comes to about Indian Rs.2.4 lakhs (About US $6000), depending on therapeutic modes availed of.. However, we offer substantial subsidy (40 to 50%, rarely more in exceptional cases) to Indian children with the help of donations / sponsorships / aid received. For details, see http://www.udaan.org/multimode/cost.html
Question: Is it true that oxygen therapy is only beneficial in one type of hypoxia? Which type of hypoxia is it, and is there any research available on the subject?
Answer: difference between hypoxia and hypoxemia.
Hypoxia is low oxygen levels available to the tissues, or the tissues are unable to use or receive the 02 that is available, as in sepsis, or pulmonary embolus.
Hypoxemia is low 02 concentrations in the arterial blood.
oxygen therapy could remedy hypoxemia by increasing the amount of 02 in the blood, but not fix hypoxia if the problem is using the oxygen, no matter how much is available..hope this helps....
