Weight-Loss
Question: Weight Loss? I'm going to try out for the volleyball, softball, and tennis for extra-curricular activities for high school. Is this good for improving weight loss? If not is their any other sports I can try. Next summer I am going to do swimming. I am somewhat overweight.
Answer: any sport is good for weight loss.
buildin muscle is good for raising the amount of calories you burn on a regular basis (and burns them) and doing aerobic like running or swimming burns the calories.
balance your eating. eat carbs and proteins, try to avoid fats and processed foods.
eat small meals several times a day to prevent your body from feelin hungry.
check yourself according to your body fat and not according to the scale, you dont need to be skeletal like some of those models.
pinch your skin around ur waist area, if it's thicker than 1/2 an inch then you need to lose a couple lf pounds. DONT go just by the tables because they dont take into account muscle weight and build.
Question: Weight-Loss ? I want to lose about 8-10 kilos..

Answer: honey if you weight that much you are just fine I'm so sick of society putting it in girls head they need to be thin to fit in your perfect just the way you are if you loose weight your going to look sick and that aint cute like my grandmother always said don't nothing like bones but a dog be proud of who you are and what you look like
Question: Weight LOSS!!?? If I eat smaller amounts of what i eat now, and work out for an hour for 3-5 days a week, will i still lose weight? I know it wont be the same as if i went on a completely healthy diet, but will i at least lose a good amount over time?
Answer: Maybe, maybe not... You will only lose weight if you are burning more than you are consuming. So you need to make sure that you get the right balance.
Before you can figure out what to eat or how much, you need to figure out what you are eating now.... Start by keeping a food diary.
Write down EVERYTHING that you eat, and use an online service to keep track of nutritional values. When you do this for a couple of weeks, you start to get a really good idea where all of your calories are coming from and where it would be best to cut back. I use fitday.com and it is free.
Excercize is really key to weight loss. Start just at home if it's better, videos or weights or join a gym. The YMCA is affordable for students if you have one that is convenient and they generally have instructors that can give you a more personalized workout.
Question: WEIGHT LOSS????????????????????? im a 14yr old gurl im 195pounds (ya i know)
and im trying to lose lots of weight that is gonna show by the end of mai so plz helpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
i cnat take no pills or programs
something i can do @ home telll me
Answer: Things you can do at home besides vomiting up your food I'm assuming?
Well you can do simple exercises... it's not about starving yourself or even really eating no fat. Eat normal do some exercise and you'll be fine. If your school has stairs use the stairs instead of the elevator. If your mom is going grocery shopping go with her, and help her bring in the bags. Simple activities like this can help stimulate your metabolism. Go for walks with your friends, biking, it's all good. But if you're strictly restricted to being in doors all the time. Crunches, and other indoor exercises can be applied. I suggest looking them up, but not falling into ones that are fads and advertised by fake doctors.
Question: How much protein should a female consume for weight loss? I've been working out consistently for about a year, but my weight loss has been really slow. I've only lost about 15-18lbs. I've also changed my diet and started eating a lot healthier. I haven't been intaking much protein and I believe that is a reason why my weight loss has been slow. How much protein should I take to speed up my weight loss? Are there any recipes, shakes or vitamins I should be taking?
I workout at least 3-4x a week. On average I'm at the gym for 1hr. - 1.5hrs. I've been attending the RPM & Body Pump classes at least 2x a week. On the other days I'm doing cardio and weightlifting. I also do resistence training.
Answer: Protein: Beans, lean meats such as boneless skinless chicken and fish, peanut butter (about 1 tablespoon for a serving), etc...
Lean Protein should make up about 40% of your daily nutritional intake per day. 30% is for whole grains. 20% is for fruits & vegetables. 10% is for fat.

Answer: Great.i was a pescetarian myself some years ago..take steamed fish with oatmeal for dinner(you may season it with pepper and a drizzle of sesame oil, and do add eggplants and carrots by the side)...do stick to your regular dose of veggies n fruit...do keep a limit on soy products because too much soy raises estrogen in your blood and that will be enough to limit your body from burning excess fat... Question: Confusion about weight loss? How is it possible to have permanent weight loss if dieting slows down metabolism well, i know that eating less will have the body adjust to the new calorie intake and thus, no further weight loss. So how is it possible to have permanent weight loss if eating less doesn't work?
Please give tips and suggestions, people who have sucessfully lost weight. thanks soo much!
Answer: The trick of losing weight is to fool your metabolism into thinking it is getting fed normally. If you try to lose weight by starving yourself, then your metabolism kicks in to low gear and hangs on to every scrap you feed yourself, making weight-loss impossible.Plus, after you have managed to starve yourself and not die,the minute you start eating again, your body sucks up every calorie it gets, and you pack the weight back on.
If you want to lose weight, which is a very difficult thing to do,you have to eat proper food:grains;veggies;low-fat meat./fish;drink plenty of water;and do some exercise. It sounds very simple, but it is very hard to do when you are de-toxing your body from fats and sugars.
Ask your doctor for an appropriate food plan for you.Don't use or think of the word"diet." It only serves to defeat you because it implies deprivation. And as humans,we do not like to be deprived of anything.
I might also suggest that you join a weight-loss group, like Overeaters Anonymous,or better still,a group like Weight Watchers.it is easier to lose weight if you are partnered with people who have the same goal as you.
Good luck to you,and eat healthy!!
PS:If you are a young person and need to lose weight:Start now because with every year,it becomes more and more difficult to lose weight and keep it off.Take the word of an old geezer.I know whereof I speak, sadly.
Question: Is weight loss a possible symptom of heart failure? I know people suffering from congestive heart failure can gain weight because of swelling, but can weight loss also be an HF symptom?
Thanks for all the answer so far :)
But, I figure that because of all the swelling in my abdominal cavity, I feel full much faster and therefore eat less. Does that make sense?
Answer: well your bodys basic metabolic needs are not been met so it is a possibility

Question: I am starting a weight loss competition in my family, whats the best way to measure progress? I wanted to start a weight loss competition this summer in my family, but I wanted it to be fair. For example its probably easier for my 260 pound brother to lose a pound than my 160 pound mom.
So whats is the best way to compare? Should it just be percentage of mass? Should fat be considered? Should i buy a body fat analyzer? Because i guess if someone lost 10 pounds of fat and gained 3 pounds of muscle, wouldn't that be better than someone else who just lost 9 pounds of fat?
Just curious what people's thoughts on this are, i want it to be as fair as possible but with accurate measures of comparison.
Answer: go to publix and get on the weight scale, measure your waist, hips, and legs
Question: How can i convince my girlfriend to have weight loss surgery without hurting her feelings? Answer: you can start going to the gym and ask her to join it with you after awile.

Question: What do you eat after weight loss surgery? I'm considering weight loss surgery. What does one eat after a surgery? Could I just follow the same diet (without the surgery) and get the same results?
Answer: If you are considering the surgery, why are you asking if you can get the same results following the same diet? Surgery is the last option for those who are seriously overweight, and ALL other methods have failed. It sounds like you want to try and change your diet, which is good. If you have not tried diet and exercise, then you should. This surgery is dangerous, and full of risks.
Spend the time exercising and eating healthy food. It took a long time for you to put on the weight, so it is going to take a long time to take it off. Just be patient and you will be rewarded for your efforts.
They give you very strict instructions about what you can, and cannot eat after surgery. For instance, you cannot drink and eat at the same time. You cannot eat anything that contains huge amounts of sugar, or fat. At first you are limited to a liquid diet, then you are allowed things like jello, or other soft foods.
You must also consider the consequences of having this type of surgery done, not just short term, but think long term, in the future. The majority of people who have this surgery do have some sort of complications, and they do gain a lot of the weight back. If you have not addressed the emotional aspect of why you overeat, this is probably not the best option for you.
Weigh your options carefully, and make a VERY educated decision. Speak with many people who have had this done. Ask them all kinds of ?'s. I know many people who have had this done, and sure it gives you the results you want very quickly, but for what they have gone through, it isn't close to being worth it. Good luck.

Question: How does birth control affect weight loss? I have been on a strict weight loss program. I eat generally healthy and go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and about three times with a personal trainer.
However, soon I am planning on getting into birth control pills. I have been told that your hormones go crazy with the pills... Would this affect my weight loss? I know it reacts differently with each woman... but what are the possibilities?
Thanks in advance!
Answer: Hi Athena,
I can relate. I went on Depo Provera and I experienced weight loss which was cool because I didn't want to have unnecessary weight gain while on my health regimen. I am sure it affects every woman differently though. Hope this helps :o)
