About Vitamins
Question: What vitamins should an older teen take through pregnancy? Scenario:
18 year old girl, I'm gonna say 4 to 5 weeks pregnant.
My best friend told me she found out she is pregnant. She is excited about it but I am worried about the health of her and her baby. She is planning to keep it, please no lectures on ideals and philosophy.
My questions is what sort of vitamins should she take, if any? Pre-natal vitamins? Any specific brands?
Thank you for your time.
Answer: She needs to buy any prenatal vitamin that contains folic acid until she sees a doctor. At her first appointment, they will give her a prescription for stronger vitamins with her specific needs in mind, but until her first appointment she can take any over the counter prenatal vitamin, but make sure it contains folic acid, which decreases the risks for neural tube defects.
Question: What vitamins should a vegetarian substitute for the meats they lack? I've only been a vegetarian for about a month and have heard that I am missing out on some essential vitamins that I could get from meat. If this is true help me out with some supplements that I could take, please.

Good luck!!!!
Question: What are the best brand of vitamins that don't have filler and have the purest and largest amount in them? I know most vitamins you get a drug stores only contain about 20% of what is needed because most of them are filler. Whats a good vitamin brand that is fairly inexpensive that is the vitamin in it's purest form, or has the least amount of filler and most amount of product???And where do i get them?
Answer: Cheaper is not always better. I've use CNCA (www.CNCAhealth.com) for years for the very reasons you mentioned -- very pure vitamins with no fillers. There are others, CNCA is one of the very few brands I trust, and I've done lots and lots of research. I hope that helps.
Question: What kind of prenatal vitamins should I buy and where can I find them? I just found out I'm pregnant, about 6 weeks or so. I haven't seen the doctor and won't be able to for another week, so I am wondering if I should start taking prenatal vitamins on my own already.
Can I just get the vitamins from the grocery store, and is there a specific type I need to get?
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.
Answer: any brand of pre natal is great just get on them. try to take them in the evening to cut down on any possible nausea, and at the same time to keep you regular ( you may not think that's important now but you will later)
also get yourself a bottle of folic acid anything around 200 mg or so for your energy and babies brain the earlier the better! Shouldn't cost more than around 14 for the prenatal and 2-4 for the folic acid
ps they have a chewable version if you try the regular and they do not work ask your doc !

Question: Is there any vitamins or special food I can eat to grow out my hair faster? My hair has ended at my first rib for the past 2 years. I trim it about every 3 months and it still won't grow longer. I want my hair to grow about another 2 inches, but I'm not willing to wait another 4 months for that. If it would be possible I would for it to grow out that long by late July/early August. Any tips on what I should eat or any vitamins I can take?
Answer: Sometimes hair growth will stop or slow for a long period- it is part of the natural cycle of hair growth. If you give yourself a relaxing scalp massage when you shampoo your hair, it might help stimulate the follicles. I would not recommend taking any suggestions on yahoo answers about pills or vitamins to take for hair growth. The oral remedies for hair growth will stimulate growth all over your body, not just on your head. Another option would be to invest in some extensions, which you can have a hair stylist attach to the roots of your hair. If you have the financial means to do so, this is the fastest way to make your hair appear longer, and it is much better for you than taking questionable pills that could possibly harm you.

Question: What kind of vitamins sould people be taking? Are vitamins good for you? What brand sould I take or avoid? Can I take to many? Is there lead or any harmful particals in these vitamins? Sould you eat pretty good while taking these vitamins and are they hard to digest? Also I really want to know anything about the colon cleanse products I seen at Sams, as seen on tv product, is this product anygood, is this product a must want? Or is it just a big hit because of the media?
Answer: Vitamins are the world's biggest rip off. As long as you're eating a good variety of food you are getting all the vitamins and nutrients you need!!
Question: What are the required vitamins and nutrients that an average person needs during the day? And I'm not talking about servings.. I want to know how many mg of what vitamins and nutrients an average person needs to be healthy.
Answer: If you eat the right servings off of the food pyramid you don't need to take vitamins. Vitamins do not give us everything we need to be healthy. I have already talked to a Dr about this. He said it is a combination of eating and vitamins both together the body needs. So if you can't eat enough servings off of the pyramid the supplemental vitamins would be a good option for you to take.
Good Luck.
Question: What vitamins or supplements should i take? I want to lose about 5 to 10 lbs of body fat so what vitamins or supplements would help boost my metabolism and help lose fat.
I currently take centrum multivitamin, vitamin b complex, fish oil, and creatine. I exercise almost everyday and have been eating healthier.
Answer: I used that centrum mess along time ago..its really no good..Im somewhat of a nutrition expert..and I use my own body too proove any theory not just here say..
Firsts its good to recognize that a natural source is best way for body to absorb vitamins..eat alot of variety of fresh fruits, fish, and protiens found in chicken and lean beef has B3...
its good to recognize that..most vitamin supplements do not realy work..for one they are synthetic duplicate of vitamins but do not completly act as a vitamin. whether its Acai berry or whatever if its a sytntheticly made and not from a natural sourse it will not work..and if its juice it must be not from concentrate..which is a chemicaly made flavor..
and I read in reader digest that 80% of vitamin supplements have led in them....Also they do not have nutrients and enzymes in them that will help your body to absorb vitamins..instead they come in and come out..when you go to the bathroom..
If you feel like using a suppliment because its impossible to get the right foods.I reccomend using a whole food suplement..or food based vitamins..they have the same vitamin contents but its natural..and more absorbant to your body..you can find them at GNC, Organic Food Store and healthfood stores..just ask for whole food supplements..or foodbased suplements..
but still remember nothing works like the right food because it has the right measure of enzymes in it to help your body to absorb the vitamins..
Acai Berry is good too but just make sure its from real berries or juice that is not that immatation concentrate or a supplement derived from the real berries.(food based)
another thing stay way from boxed food and prepackaged no matter if they say they have no fat. If it has a bunch of undigestable things in it and over processed..which they do..it will not digest in your body will turn it into fat.
eat whole foods raw fruits and veggies, a juicer is nice to have. Bake and fry with natural oils and natural unbleached unenriched flower.
Question: At what age did you start giving your baby vitamins? My one-year old was breastfed until very recently, so I didn't worry about supplemental vitamins. But, even though her solid foods diet is rich in fruits, veggies, and grains, I still feel like she probably would benefit from taking vitamins. Do most people start vitamins around 1 year?
Answer: You shouldn't start vitamins till around 2 years. I don't think that your baby will have a problem with not getting enough vitamins because now she will be getting more vitamins from her food.
