Aches
Question: How to exercise and deal with the body aches? I'm 52 years old and sometimes feels body aches. I would like to exercise but how would I deal the body aches afterwards?
Answer: First tell yourself that the aches will get better the more you exercise as long as you are doing it properly.
Heating pads and cool packs do good.
homemade cool pack:
1 part water
3 parts rubbing alcohol (higher % if you can find it)
Put in ziplock baggie and freeze....it will not be solid, more like gel
plus it is reusable and cheaper.
Epsom Salt Baths do great to.
Or talk to your Dr if you have the money and get a tens unit....you would be amazed how that helps.
Just stretch it out before and after exersizing to keep from getting stiff. Much luck to you!
Question: How do you reduce body aches in the office? I am often forced to help customers while balancing the phone on my shoulder while leaning forward to type into the computer. Towards the end of the day or even the end of the week this gets very uncomfortable as I end up with pain in my back, shoulders, neck, fingers and lets not forget to mention straining my eyes from the computer, and pain in my legs and hips from sitting all day. I try to take as many breaks as I can but it can only do so much. What do you do to help avoid and reduce these common aches and pains from being at your desk, typing and on the phone all day?
I also exercise regularily.
Answer: Get a headset for the phone. Not sure why you would have to lean forward to type, try and set up your desk differently. Get up every half hour and just stand, do some stretching, lean backwards. If you are getting sciatic pain in your legs then you are asking for a herniated disc in your back. Just get up more often. At home try lying on your stomach when you're watching TV and come up on your elbows, great for the back. Get more exercise. Invest in a massage once a week or two for your head and neck area to reduce the strain.
Actually, book some time with a physiotherapist to get the proper exercises for you to help with pain.
Question: How does one get rid of tension head aches without pain killers ? I have had a head ache all day everyday for the past 2 weeks. The doctor said they are tension head aches. How do I permanently get rid of them ?
Answer: You ask a lot! Permanently! Tension headaches imply stress. In order to get rid of them you need to get rid of the source, that is the thing or things causing the stress. I have no way of knowing what that is for you. If you don't know what that is, then that would be your first step, figuring out what is causing your stress. Once you know that, you can devise ways of managing it. One thing that helps with stress in general is exercise. Physical exercise will help channel off the stress in a positive way, is good for your health and will distract you from thinking or obsessing over whatever is so stressful in your life. Good luck.
Question: Is it normal to experience little aches in the heart and the odd palpitations when starting cardio? I am 7st 11lbs and eat healthily, but I'm quite unfit. I've recently started jogging and running to improve my fitness and I'm finding that I keep getting aches (not painful) and palpitations in my heart between exercise sessions. Is this normal for someone who is starting out cardio after years of doing very little in the way of pulse-raising exercise?
Answer: Possibly heart murmer? Best to get checked by doctor.
Good advise to slowly build up to ---start by walking consistently.
I'm up to an hour on my recumbent bike----only took a month.
But I do hope you see a doctor----chest pains, even minor, should be checked! Pain could also be from heart burn---excercise can cause a little of that.
Good luck!

The stomach aches last for about 15-30 minutes and they go away, but I would prefer not to have them at all. Any reasons for them?
By the way, I took them for about a month before I started getting stomach aches.

not only that there can be hypersensitivity reactions.
Question: Why do I always get stomach aches when they turn the air conditioner on at work? I always get stomach aches at work and it's only when the AC is on. Then im always going to the restroom. I cant just turn it off when i want and i wear a sweater but it doesnt work. I've also noticed this when Im in the car and the ac is on. When i turn it off it goes away. What is causeing this?
Answer: Are you normally not in an air-conditioned environment (like at home)? If so the your body is probably just not used to it and extreme changes in temperature can cause a sickly feeling. Also, how cold do they keep it? If it's very cold compared to the weather outside, that might be the reason. And how often do they replace the filters at your work? Maybe they need to be replaces now, but then again if it happens in your car too, then that's probably not the cause. Anyway, if you're really concerned, you may want to ask your doctor or at least phone the office and ask if it's anything you should be concerned about enough to come in. Take care and I hope you get this figured out soon! :)
Question: How to stop stomach aches when not drinking tea or something hot? Hello. Every single day I have to drink tea or something hot to not get stomach aches. I HATE that! I just want to know if anyone knew how to not get stomach aches if I don't drink tea. (I know it kind of doesn't make sense, but it always happens).
Answer: sip on that canada dry.. it's caffeine free... maybe your body is so used to it that it doesn't work anymore... that happened to my dad with coffee. but maybe if you sip on it slowly it won't be so bad.
Question: How long do body aches last when coming off of Effexor? My daughter is coming off of Effexor and took her last mini-dose on Friday of last week. For the last two days she's had terrible body aches (comparable to flu - but she isn't sick). I have read that body aches are a side effect of coming off of this drug, but haven't found any data on how long this lasts. Anyone out there have any recent experience with this? Thanks in advance for your answers.
Answer: I know the pain of stopping drugs like that, it's horrible. From my experience and also what I've read in the past, after the final dose is taken, it should take around 7 days for her body to readjust. She may not feel perfect after 7 days, but she should notice a marked improvement.
I found this article that may help give her some relief...
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_long_do_the_withdrawal_symptoms_from_getting_off_effexor_last
I've heard the same thing from other people... it won't completely ameliorate the withdrawal symptoms, but the b12 and omega fatty acids should help lessen the severity of the aches.
Question: What's the difference between stomach aches from holding in gas and period cramps? I can't tell if the gas i'm getting is because i don't let it out and it hurts my stomach or if it's cramps for getting my period. because i get strong stomach aches and gas i dont know if it's gas or cramps. and my mom had her period when she was 12 in the summer. does that mean that i'll have mine soon because of the genetics? cause i have vaginal discharges and i jus turned 12 and it's almost summer.
Answer: For me,gas 'cramps' are pain towards rear end and period cramps are more centered in the middle of the stomach area, like there's a ball that is constantly 'crashing' into the stomach wall.
to be honest most girls dont really have an idea when they were having their first period. I had no idea when I first had it. Went to the toilet and voila, there it was! Your first period is gonna be light anyway so you would probably hardly feel before and after it arrive.
i dont think it matters when your mother got her first period. my mother got hers when she was 13 but my younger sis got hers when she was 11. so....its not at all genetics!
i know that at your age i was waiting and excited at the same time for my first period (made me feel grown up,lol) but I got mine when I was 13. so just be patient and dont worry too much about it, it will come one day when you least expect it.
Good luck!!
Question: What causes lower back aches before period? I should be getting my period within the next 3 days. For the past 2 days my lower back (on the left side) has been aching and my leg has been cramping up. What is the cause of lower back aches before a period? And does anyone else get this?
Answer: The lower back pain is caused by an expanding uterus, which as a result pushes against your spine causing lower back pain. I experience it with every period, however, not on one side over the other. Generally my whole lower back hurts. I have found that heat and walking helps a lot. If you are looking for a medicated cure, midol seems to work nicely for me. Hope this helped
Question: How do I get rid of stomach aches without medicine? I get stomach aches a lot. I don't know why, or how to get rid of them. I don't need to take medicine, because they are not always that bad. What do I do? Please help.
Answer: depends on the cause of the stomach ache... I used to give my daughter ginger ale to drink or flat coke , for some reason it works... I can remember being told to drink em when I was young ...now if it is acid stomach dont drink either of those...get some tums...peace
Question: How can I relieve severe muscle aches caused by strenuous excercise? I am practically immobilized by these bad muscle aches in my pectorals and arms. Do you have any advice on how to quell the aches?
Answer: You are not supposed to feel severe aches and pains in your muscles. Slight soreness should be enough but if it's something more like severe excruciating pain, I think you should do your workouts alot less often. Such stubborn determination could lead to disaster. Not only will it immobilize you, it will prevent your muscles from growing.
Also, the biggest cure for that right now is to rest your muscles for about a week or two until they completely heal.
Question: Is it normal to experience gerneral aches and pains around your body? I don't know if this is growing pains or anything but I feel light pain near my hip bones on both sides. It's not severe but it comes every few minutes and usually goes away the next day. I've been doing some research on bone cancer, and they said not to mistaken general aches and pains with a cancer symptom.
Is it true that everyone experiences minor aches and pains around their body?
Ok, I'm 13 years old.
Answer: You have no idea lol. When I was younger I would get the most horrible pains in my legs. It felt like the middle of my bones were pure ice. Turns out that they were just growing pains, I'm 6'3" now. It would help to know your age and sex. If you're still pretty young then I would bet it's just growing pains, but then again it never hurts to get it checked out by a doctor. If they're worried about cancer they will probably do some blood tests to see whats really going on, if not they might just suggest taking a pain killer or anti-inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen to help with the pain.
Oh well if you're 13 then I'm 99% sure it's growing pains. I think the last major pain I had was when I was 17 or 18 and I still get maybe one small one a year and I'm 22.
Question: What is the scientific term of predicting weather by the aches in muscles and bones? I am about 95% accurate on local weather according to my aches and pains - or lack of such.
We have been experiencing cold but dry, but it is going to be wet and cold, due to what my knee is saying right now. Is the Science well founded enough?
Answer: It would generally be termed hocus-pocus. Of course, if you could convincingly demonstrate the reliability of the methodology, that it would provisionally get termed interesting pending further studies.
Question: What could be causing my aches and pains? They're mostly in my thoracic and abdominal area? I have aches and pains almost all day. They're usually in my upper abdominal area, sometimes in my back and sometimes in my chest.
It is NOT muscle pain, it definitely feels like it's inside because I always think I'm passing a kidney stone but it goes away before it gets that bad. It's not fibromyalgia.
What could be causing these pains?
It doesn't feel like indigestion at all, and I've actually had a much smaller appetite than usually so I don't need to eat smaller meals.
Answer: indigestion? eat smaller meals. try an antacid.
Question: What is the different between cramps and tummy aches? what is the difference?? Are cramps period related and tummy aches not? what if you get tummy aches from your period but not cramps??
what is the difference?
Answer: Well, you can get a variety of different cramps, so no, it's not always to do with your period. But period cramps are very distinctive if you've ever had them. They hurt real bad where your ovaries are, not in your stomach.
Tummy aches, you can also get from your period, making you feel a bit nauseous and gassy, this is a sick feeling, but if you get it whenever you're on your period, you know its because of this.
So basically: Cramps - Pain, Aching.
Stomach Aches: Nausea, Sore.
