Acne Vitamins
Question: Is it possible that vitamins cause acne? I want to take vitamin tablets because I'm not sure if I am getting all of my daily vitamins however I fear that most of my acne would come back because I remember taking them and I would get a outbreak of acne. Is that just a coincidence? or is that possible? what should I do?
Answer: keep taking the vitamins for a week and wash your face, if acne persists, discontinue use of vitamins.
Question: Food, which types of food, should I eat to prevent acne, what vitamins are great for preventing acne? I don't have a serious acne problem, but I have little whiteheads that be turning into blackheads, then they dry out and come off. At least they don't stay with me for long, but I would love to know which types of food I should eat to prevent acne and what vitamins are great for preventing acne?
Answer: I've seen a research study online that was done in China (I think) and it showe that taking high doses of Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) reduces acne. This research was done on a group of people with Acne Vulgaris (worse form of acne) and by taking 10gram a day, their acne was significantly reduced. The only downfall with this is that, in order to get 10g of this vitamin, you would need to take 20 pills a day since most places offer then in 500mg tablets. Now since you probably dont have Acne Vulgaris, you probably wont need so much but if you want a smooth face, its worth a try.
Question: Has anyone seen good acne results from Vitamins B5 and fish oil? Has anyone seen good acne results from Vitamins B5 and fish oil?
Answer: Hi,
Vitamin B5 is safe even in the large doses needed for it to work against acne. vitamin B5 is found in small amounts in most foods. The best sources are fish, beef, whole-wheat flour, royal jelly, eggs, liver, yeast, mushrooms, peanuts, cashews, broccoli, soybeans, avocodoes, and whole-grain cereals.
Many people usually start out with lower amounts of B5 hoping it will work so they don't have to take so many pills a day and spend as much. Some of these people report having an initial breakout before the acne starts to fade away. This is because they're not taking enough. Everyone's exact need for B5 is different. If you want to start at a lower amount I would recommend about 5 grams a day.

Question: Are there any natural remedies or vitamins that can improve acne/oily skin? I've done nearly everything under the sun to improve my acne, but I don't want to be on pills that do weird things to me anymore. Are there any vitamins for women that improve complexion?
Or how about any drugstore products that have been effective for anyone?
Answer: Try this simple remedy. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the pimples like soap. The secret of keeping the skin clear is to keep it oil-free and clean. More such solutions at http://solutionsforpimples.blogspot.com/
Question: What pill(s) or vitamins help with acne? I know vitamins help with acne but which vitamins do? Preferably something I could get at Wal-Mart but there is a health store here so it doesn't really matter where. Thanks in advance for any help.
Answer: I use a good whole food multi-vitamin daily. I developed acne problems as an adult in my mid twenties, I also used milk thistle which helped but it did not completely disappear. Acne is usually due to a hormonal problem. I am now on Yaz birth control which has almost completely cleared it up. My son who is 15, has horrible acne and we are trying EpiDuo. He has been using it for about 2 weeks, it is really helping. It did get worse but now it is starting to heal. Hope you can get it taken care of, it is hard to do.
FYI: For my son we have previously tried Retin A (horrible stuff) and monocycline anti-biotic (didn't really help).
Question: What vitamins should i take to help me get rid of my acne? I have bacne and acne.
what are some good vitamins i should take?
Answer: I take Vitamin E capsules as well as put Vitamin E Oil (yes, oil) under my eyes. It doesn't make your skin more prone to breakouts by putting on your face.
I've had acne my whole life (not fun, clear now)...I'll just list out some of the things I've used before that work:
*Nature's Cure Body Spray (great for the places that are hard to reach, back)
*Purpose SPF 15 face lotion (really evens out texture) I used to think that lotion would make my face oiler, but this lotion is a Godsend.
*Clean and Clear Blackhead Clearing Scrub works wonders when you leave it on for a few minutes.
...If you have any other ?s feel free to message me!
Question: Will all these vitamins for my acne and such be good for me? I am taking green tea extract 500 mg twice a day and drinking 4 cups of green tea a day to help acne. I also take 3 ALA supplements a day too. will I be okay if I add 2 50mg zinc supplements and vitamin e also? I'm hoping that this will stop breakouts and clear it up.
Answer: It's so good that you're willing to take supplements to treat your acne instead of going from product to product. I mean your not deficient in Clearasil or Proactive are you? I don't know about the supps your taking now for acne, but I know vitamin A could help your skin A LOT. Zinc also helps the skin and has shown to in many studies but this is because it is involved in vitamin A utilization, retention and metabolism. So taking the two is a good idea just in case you're deficient in one or the other, or both!
"Zinc and vitamin A interact in several ways. Zinc is a component of retinol-binding protein, a protein necessary for transporting vitamin A in the blood. Zinc is also required for the enzyme that converts retinol (vitamin A) to retinal. This latter form of vitamin A is necessary for the synthesis of rhodopsin, a protein in the eye that absorbs light and thus is involved in dark adaptation. Zinc deficiency is associated with decreased release of vitamin A from the liver, which may contribute to symptoms of night blindness that are seen with zinc deficiency (14, 15).
Taking large quantities of zinc (50 mg/day or more) over a period of weeks can interfere with copper bioavailability. High intake of zinc induces the intestinal synthesis of a copper-binding protein called metallothionein. Metallothionein traps copper within intestinal cells and prevents its systemic absorption (see Copper). More typical intakes of zinc do not affect copper absorption and high copper intakes do not affect zinc absorption."

Taking zinc in a multimineral formula would be better than taking it alone because of the above situation. Also you want to be taking the right vitamin A. Only vitamin a from fish oil is as RETINOL and this is the natural vitamin A that only causes toxicity at VERY HIGH doses compared with the synthetic versions that are toxic even in smaller amounts. All vitamin A in multivitamin preparations are SYNTHETIC. According to the study below, doses between 300,000 and 500,000 IU are only effective for acne but also caused a little overdose which only caused dry skin and chapped lips. I would suggest possibly 100,000 IU each day for a few months and look out for hypervitaminosis A (too much vitamin A). But please do your research. Also vitamin C reduces the toxicity and vitamin D should also be taken with vitamin A and is usually found together in fish oil caps. Vitamin E is very important also because it also extends the life of vitamin A in the body. Without enough vitamin E, vitamin A is destroyed by oxygen. See it's complicated every nutrient interacts with another so it's always best to get a bit of everything.
It's very important to get your vitamin D levels checked BEFORE you take supps of it. Hope this helps.
Oh one more thing, you will only absorb vitamins A, D and E if you take them with some sort of fat (butter, crieeam, cheese, oilive oil) otherwise you're just wasting your money. When you eat fat, bile is released which is ESSENTIAL for absorbing these nutrients. If there's no fat they are not absorbed and you will think they aren't working. Good luck

Question: What vitamins are good for acne-prone skin? What daily vitamin do you recommend to take if I have acne prone skin? I would like to reduce the acne, and I also have dry skin sometimes. So, I guess what I'm saying is that I would like to find a vitamin that could help with reducing acne, and just be all around good for skin to make it healthy & stuff. Thanks.
Answer: Zinc is proven to heal acne, so you should take some everyday. It can be from vitamin pills or from food. The other vitamins are good for health and skin, but zinc is good for it's properties. If you currently have outbreaks and zits all over, you may use zinc supplements to alleviate what you are going through. Zinc can help heal your blemishes, reduce the inflammation, and reduce the androgenic effect of hormones on your skin. Thus, if you want your pimples to heal faster, taking some zinc supplements may be a good idea.
Question: Is it true that plain old vitamins can help with acne? Same question, different time, kind of a different category :) ...
I've been recently reading certain articles about acne, in particular for the cystic kind, and it's come up in some that Zinc and Vitamin A can help really well. Is this true? And if so, how are you supposed to take the "doses" or whatever the intake is... I really don't know and so I appreciate the answers, thanks a lot!
Answer: Yes vitamin A is good for your skin and that's not all, it's used by your whole body. Remember that taking to much can make you sick among other possible dangers like birth defects if you're pregnant. Zinc also helps acne, not enough zinc in your system is bad for you and too much is also bad so it's good to watch how much you take.
You should probably go to a dermatologist to ask about these options. There are also vitamin supplement pills over the counter. One other thing you can do is eat foods that are rich in the vitamins that you are deficient in, just be carefull and like I said before see a doctor first. You don't know who on yahoo answers is right and even if you might think that I or anyone else has answered your question, you should remember that I am not a doctor and I don't know how your body reacts to different medications. See a doctor, that is my number one advice.
Good luck!
Question: What vitamins are good for acne? Im 15 years old and i have terrible acne. I tend to pick my face which makes the acne worse. Im willing to try vitamin supplements of oral MDS. Any idea what would work best for me?
Answer: First, I understand where you're coming from. I grew up with really bad acne, not only on my face but on my body as well. It was embarrassing and I tried everything including cleansers, creams, prescription medications, antibiotics, over the counter medications, and even shots from the dermatologist (ouch!) to get rid of it. I never did until many years later when it didn't matter as much.

Here's what I found out after lots of research and trial and error, the hard way.
It's not a topical issue, it doesn't help much to treat it from the outside, it's an inside job. When you treat it from the outside it's like treating the symptoms, not the cause. You'll hear from many people that's not the case, and it's usually because they want you to buy their creams or lotions, and keep buying them month after month after month (or they haven't experienced the truth). Of course, when you stop using it (as you've experienced) your blemishes come back... because you're not treating the cause. And the costs for all of these routines/drugs add up month after month.
If you think about it logically, it makes sense. Why do we get rashes, breakouts, or other skin irritations? It's usually because of something we ate, something that wasn't meant to be put on our skin, something that caused us stress and our body reacts to all those things.
Bottom line is that most every cause of acne is related to what you eat, how you feel and how you take care of yourself. Your skin is a reflection of what's on the inside. We have lots of toxins building up in our systems and they have to be cleaned out on the inside and that will reflect on the outside. The blemishes, rashes, acne, etc are indications that your body is reacting to what you're eating, to stress, toxins, chemicals, hormones... literally a great number of things.
Basically what I did in a nutshell was clean out my system by taking out the processed and junk foods, and added as much fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet as possible. This part is key. I also started drinking a lot of water daily, starting with 3 or 4 glasses when I wake up (adding a squeeze of fresh lemon at times). I also got more active every day, walking, running, sports, jumping, whatever, just getting active. It not only gave me more energy, it help flush out the toxins that were clogging up my system.
Did you know 90% of acne is caused by 3 major factors? Find out exactly what
they are and how easily it is to solve them here http://topsecretacnevolution.blogspot.com/.

Question: If I start taking prenatal vitamins, will it help clear up my adult acne? I'm not pregnant. I drink water all day long, everything I use is oil free, and I keep my hands away from my face. I've tried everything. Proactive, Accutane, and every other lotion, cream, and vitamin from the dermatologist. If I take prenatal vitamins, will it help clear up my acne? I'm desperate
Answer: As a mom of 6, I am pretty sure pre-natal vitamins will make no difference. Each time I have been pregnant, my skin has been different. Pre-natal vitamins do help with your hair, and your fingernails.
Be sure that you are eating healthy. Pre-natals just help to be sure women have enough of the necessary vitaminss to help maintain their body as the baby grows.
There would be nothing wrong with taking them if you are not pregnant.
good luck!
Question: Does vitamin A vitamins help with acne? I have read that people that suffer from acne are usually also lacking in vitamin A in the blood stream. Also, retin A micro and other potential ways to rid acne deal directly with vitamin A. Would taking a supplement help with acne?
Answer: Vitamin A is good for the skin, but taking too much can cause health problems. The only way you are allowed to take an overdose of Vitamin A is in the form of Accutane. You must be supervised by your doctor while taking this drug.
Question: Which vitamins are good for someone who has acne problems? ? I have acne and i take some vitamins but i don't feel like they're helping much. I thought it was suppose to slow down the hair growth on my legs but it didn't. Any suggestions or advice would be good.
