Adenine Cytosine Dna
Question: DNA, guanine, cytosine, adenine, thymine? what is the ratio of guanine to cytosine in a double-stranded DNA molecule? Of adenine to thymine?
please help! thank you so much for your time =]
Answer: the amount of "G" will equal ''C'' and the amount of ''T'' will equal ''A"
they all need to add up to 100%.
so if you are given that there is 30% G. you can deduce there is also 30% C.
that is 60%
so 100-60=40
therefore 20% of A and 20% T
Question: A double-stranded DNA molecule contains 20% Adenine. what is the # of cytosine bases in The DNA mol 1 cm long? A double-stranded DNA molecule contains 20% Adenine. Determine the number of cytosine bases in The DNA molecule that is 1 cm long
NOTE THIS IS 1 CM LONG ITS DIFFERENT FROM THE FIRST ONE!
Answer: Already answered this for you
Since A = T, there is 20% T.
This leaves 60% = G +C .
Therefore C = 30% (G = C)
1000 base pairs = 2000 bases in total
30% of 2000 = 600.
Answer = 600 cytosine bases.

Question: A double-stranded DNA molecule contains 20% Adenine. Determine the number of cytosine bases in The DNA molecul A double-stranded DNA molecule contains 20% Adenine. Determine the number of cytosine bases in the DNA molecule 1,000 bp long
Answer: Since A = T, there is 20% T.
This leaves 60% = G +C .
Therefore C = 30% (G = C)
1000 base pairs = 2000 bases in total
30% of 2000 = 600.
Answer = 600 cytosine bases.
Question: IF cytosine makes up 22% of the nucleotides in a sample of DNA from organism then adenine would make up what? IF cytosine makes up 22% of the nucleotides in a sample of DNA from organism then adenine would make up what percent of the bases?
a) 28
b) 56
c) 44
d) 22
e) It cannot be determined with the information given
Answer: There are as many cytosines (C) as there are guanines (G), and as many adenines (A) as there are thymines (T).
If there is 22% of C, that means there is 22% of G. That leaves 56% of nucleotides. If A and T are 56% of the total number of nucleotides, then half of that is A, and half of that is T.
A is 28%.
a) 28
Question: in dna adenine always pairs with cytosine?
Answer: No
Adenine pairs with Thymine(or uracil depending on if it is RNA)
Cytosine pairs with Guanine
Question: suppose that in the original DNA strand the adenine in the 15th position was changed to cytosine.? do you think the person with the change dna would have cystic fibrosis?
Answer: No.
Genetic studies have shown that a specific gene called the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator gene which transports chloride ions and water into cells and is encoded on chromosome 7 is implicated in the production of the excess mucus symptomatic of the disease. The most common mutation is at position 508 and this causes the ion channel to degrade within the cell and not be transported to the cell surface. The result in mucus producing cells is thick sticky mucus.
Question: If an organism's DNA content is 35% cytosine. What percentage of this organism's DNA is adenine?
Answer: Simple mathematics. A-T and G-C are the pairs in DNA. If there is 35% C, that means there must be 35% G. Add those two together and that makes 70%, with 30% left over. 30% split into two means 15% for A and T. The answer is 15% adenine.
Question: If 25% of DNA is Adenine, what percent is Cytosine?
Answer: Then answer would be 25%
You see DNA consists of four different Nitrogenous Bases
Adenine Guanine Cytosine Thymine
The purines are adenine and guanine
the pyrimidines are thymine and cytosine, the purines must combine with the pyrimidines
Adenine combines in equal parts with Thymine
Cytosine combines in equal parts with Guanine
So if the DNA is 25% Adenine it must also be 25% Thymine
This leaves 50% and the Guanine and Cytosine that combines must combine in equal parts
50%/2 = 25%
So there must be 25% Guanine and 25% Cytosine.
There you go... GOOD LUCK
Question: If DNA is 25% Thymine, then %'s of Adenine, Cytosine, & Guanine?
Answer: Adenine is the base pair of thymine. So for every Thymine, there is an adenine. If DNA contains 25% thymine, there is 25% adenine.
This leaves 50%. Therefore, there is 25% cytosine and 25% guanine.
Question: what is the ratio of guanine in cytosine in a double-stranded DNA of molecule? & adenine to thymine?
Answer: In double-stranded DNA, 1 guanine on one strand pair with a cytosine on the opposite strand, causing there to be an equal amount of each (#of G's = #of C's). Likewise with adenine and thymine, (#of A's = #of T's).
Question: Wrtite striucture of DNA including nitrogenous base as Thymine ,cytosine ,adenine and Guanine.?
Answer: All the diagrams you need are in this link.
Question: Estimate the guanine content in turtle DNA if adenine = 28.7% and cytosine = 21.3%?
the answer is a percentage!
Answer: The guanine content is always the same as the cytosine content, because they are paired with each other - one in each DNA strand.
Likewise, thymine is the same as adenine.
ADDENDUM ADDENDUM ADDENDUM
So guanine is 21.3%, which (if you have to chose from 21%, 25%, or 29%)
is closest to 21%.
Question: If a DNA sample contains 13% adenine, what percentage of the sample contains cytosine? a) 13%
b) 37%
c) 26%
d) 74%
I think it is (A 13%) half of the total, but im not sure.
Thnak you all so much for your answers and explanantions: with them now I fully understand.
Answer: B. 37%
Adenine binds with thymine, so there should be equal numbers or percentages of adenine and thymine. Therefore, thymine is also 13%. Thus, there is 74% remaining for the bases cytosine and guanine. Since guanine binds to cytosine, you know that the percentages of guanine must be equal, and they must add up to 76%:
C + G = 76
C = G
Thus, C = 37
Question: when making a dna model does it matter if u start with adenine and thymine or guanine and cytosine and if so ? which one do you start with
Answer: Adenine goes with thymine and guanine goes with cytosine, it doesnt matter which one you start with. I did this all last year, hope it helps.
Question: why always adenine bonds to thymine and cytosine to guanine in dna structure? dna linkage
Answer: A/T and C/G fit together like puzzle pieces.
Question: Adenine bonds only with _______ in DNA. Cytosine bonds only with ________in DNA.? hurry school reason
