Question: Can cancer grow in a alkaline body? My teacher made this commment and I want to know if it is true that cancer cannot grow in a alkaline body and if you know anywhere to prove that it is not true.

Question: what are the symptoms of an acidic v. and alkaline body? Are there any specific things you can look for i.e. a coating on the tongue, mucus production in the eyes, etc.? Don't just list symptoms of acidity, make sure to include symptoms of an alkaline body too if you know them.

Answer: If you can keep your body pH level about 6.5 to 7.4 those are the levels that makes your body the most inhospitable environment for virus and bacteria that is attacking you. In an alkaline state our body and immune systems is most resistant to disease. Viruses, fungus and bacteria require and thrive on an environment that is acidic. These type of organisms actually consume, eat, acidic waste and then in a vicious circle create more acidic waste that wears our whole body down. This creates an environment for chronic disease to take root and a general sluggishness and lack of energy. But the news gets worse when your body is acidic and overwhelmed with waste, your liver the vital organ is the main detoxification element and the main organ for emulsifying fat gets overwhelmed and gets backed up with more toxins and fat. Question: Can an alkaline body still have candida? I did the spit test which shows that I probably have quite severe candida but I just did the PH test which shows that my saliva and urine are both more alkaline than usual. My urine is a PH of 9. So could I still have candida or can I rule it out?

Answer: This sounds quite serious and I don't think you should rule it out. I would go to see your Doctor again. He may be able to refer you to a specialist.

Answer: Your body is constantly balancing the acids and bases in your various systems. There are diseases and other conditions that can send the whole thing out of killter. The result is acidosis or alkalosis. Alkalosis can be of respiratory origin. Hyperventilation can cause alkalosis. Alkalosis can also be metabolic. This is usally due to disease, but can also occur if you eat too many antacids, especially sodium bicarbonate. I am sending you links that describe each of these.

Answer: All fruits and vegetables are healthy, there is no best fruit/vegetable to eat. My advice is to eat a variety of them, and as "colourful" a combination of them as possible. Like you said, the more meat we consume the more acidic our body is. So I guess the best way to change your body into an alkaline one is to become a vegetarian, or at least cut down on your meat consumption.

Answer: Ripper, who told you that the body needs to be in a constant state of alkalinity? Some of our body systems have their own pH levels that are considered normal but overall, we start out the day more acidic(less than 7.0) and end the day more base (alkaline). This shift is normal. You would not know if you are in a constant state of acid or base unless you were to undergo urine and blood tests at different times of day for several days in a row or unless you developed symptoms of acidosis or alkalosis. One expert put it this way: "Our bodies are alkaline by design and acid by function". What this means is that our bodies strive to maintain a balance. The GI tract is acidic. In the female, the vagina is acidic. Our blood is slighlty alkaline. Tissue fluid is more acidic. Morning urine is acidic and evening urine is alkaline. It would be unwise to tamper with this. Ripper, your physical problems may be due to an imbalance of some kind but if anything you should strive to acheive and maintain balance rather than a permanent shift left or right. Answer: It helps to prevent cancer from growing in you, but doesn't 100% stop it. To go on an "alkaline" diet, you need to eat foods that have a low acidic level. The acidicy of food (or lack thereof) is measure on a scale called pH. Water has a pH of 7 and is neutral (the only neutral food). Anything below 7 is an acid and anything above 7 is an alkaline. Soda is an acidy food and has a pH of 2. Any carbondate drink will have a pH of 2. The rule of thumb is this: the greener a vegetable is, the more of an alkaline it is, so stick to green vegetables. Don't eat things like Lemons or oranges. Those are high in acid, as is potatos. Hope this helps

Answer: There's a very narrow range of blood pH which the body can operate in. Also, the lungs and kidneys regulate this so that if an acid: example, alcohol/ethanol, or diabetic keto-acidosis is added to the serum your body will compensate to return it. Maybe this is in reference to muscle cramps and "lactic acidosis" which actually is acidic because of the mitochondrial membrane's exhaustion of oxygen, not lactose itself, just FYI.... Answer: That is quite wrong. The physiological pH is very finely tuned for all the enzymes of your body to function optimally. One on the processes responsible for pH regulation is the dissolution/freeing of carbon dioxide by enzymes called carbonic anhydrases (CAs). This nonsense comes from 1930s research, when very little was known about our physiology, and molecular biology did not exist. Scientists had found out that tumors were generally more acidic than normal tissue and assumed that acidity caused cancer. It was untrue. Today, we know that the acidity comes from the fact that tumors need to get rid of a lot of carbon dioxide (CO2), much more than the capacity of red blood cells to transport it. Thus, to survive, solid tumors produce their own carbonic anhydrases to dissolve CO2 in blood as carbonic acid, making the tissue slightly more acidic. In fact, the acidity was not there before the tumor got too big to get rid of its CO2 the normal way. It is a very interesting phenomenon, because the CAs that are produced by tumors are not the same than those normal cells will produce. Blocking them would be a way to litterally 'choke' tumors !
