Babies
Question: babies??????????????????????????? umm where do babies come from and what is the process of how they're made?
Answer: lol my 5 year old thinks that my husband put a tiny egg in my belly button......are you 5? if you are, i just answed your question.
Question: What do babies born in winter wear for outdoors and indoors? I am due in Jan, 2009. I am wondering what kind of clothes are warm enough for babies indoors and outdoors.
Will the onesies do for indoors, or does the baby need more? Should the baby be dressed in multiple layers for outdoors. How much will be too warm for the baby?
Thanks!
Answer: My daughter (December baby) mostly wore sleepers indoors. But go by the temperature of your house. If you keep it warm, she may well be comfortable in a onesie.
For outside, remember that you can't have a lot of thick clothing in the carseat, so layers are good idea. A warm bunting for outside, and a lighter/thinner jacket for the carseat.
Question: How do I get one baby rabbit to stay with the other four babies in the nest box? Our rabbit had five babies together, all in the nest box. Four of the babies are staying together in the next box, in the hollow dug out by their mom, but one baby keeps crawling out and across the nest box, away from the other babies. How to I keep them together?
Answer: This depends on how old they are. If they are 10 days or older, they are probably OK out of the nest box, and mom will sometimes put them back in. If not, you need a taller rim ( mine is usually 4-6 in) on the opening to the box. In other words, it should be deeper. I hope that makes sense. Also, add hay or a mat outside the box to prevent exposure if he jumps out again.
Question: What happens to babies when they die? Do they go to heaven? If all babies go to heaven when they die, then wouldn't you be altruistic by aborting them? If you abort a baby, you remove all chances that they will sin, thus sending them to heaven. You may go to hell, but by going to hell you ensure that all the babies you kill will go to heaven.
What are your thoughts? I know some people think you can't be saved unless you are baptized, or accept Jesus, or any number of other ways, so just imagine killing the baby or the person right after they are "good to go" for heaven.
Answer: "If all babies go to heaven when they die, then wouldn't you be altruistic by aborting them?"
I think that this is an example of flawed logic. Human beings were honored by God by being created in His image. Consider the following:
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Psalm 8:3-5: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+8:3-5&version=NIV
Psalm 139 NIV
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
Humans have always been precious to God.
Matthew 18:3
And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Moderns like to consider themselves more educated & sophisticated in thinking that as life develops in the womb, it has varying degrees of value, particularly if there are any genetic defects or disabilities--& for some, no value at all other than parasitic or inconvenient. That does not hold true for God.
Exodus 4:11
The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ?
I think that the problem with many modern thinkers is that they look on human life with less value under those conditions. God does not. Human life, whether created whole or with genetic problems, has the potential to glorify God--& even to overcome the world in His power.
Since we are created by Him in His image, taking that life unlawfully (& I don't mean merely by earthly legal systems but as God has deemed lawful) is murder. He alone has the power to create life--or take it because He alone is truly holy, just, & merciful. We don't have the power to give back a life after we've taken it, but He does (& there will come a day when He has indeed promised the resurrection of the those who'd passed away). Consider the following:
Exodus 20:13
http://www.scripture4all.org/OnlineInterlinear/OTpdf/exo20.pdf
13 "You shall not murder.
Some versions of the Bible render the word "kill", but in fact, the word is "murder" from the Hebrew רְצָח ("ratsach" implying premeditated killing, thus, "murder" is more appropriate)
Since it's logical to conclude that one plans the death of children in the womb thru the act of abortion, it is in fact considered murder, & it is forbidden as such.
Psalm 49 NIV
7 No man can redeem the life of another
or give to God a ransom for him-
8 the ransom for a life is costly,
no payment is ever enough-
9 that he should live on forever
and not see decay.
15 But God will redeem my life [f] from the grave;
he will surely take me to himself.
Selah
"I know some people think you can't be saved unless you are baptized, or accept Jesus, or any number of other ways, so just imagine killing the baby or the person right after they are "good to go" for heaven."
Consider the following:
Luke 23
39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[f]"
43Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
This thief is not declared to have been a believer in his life, but he trusted Christ on the cross as he hung there preparing to die. Jesus promised him that he would indeed live on in paradise. It's kind of a down-to-the-last-second trusting in Him, but it was enough. It's kind of interesting in that the Scriptures suggest that there is trust of God even in the womb:
Psalm 22
9 Yet you brought me out of the womb;
you made me trust in you
even at my mother's breast.
10 From birth I was cast upon you;
from my mother's womb you have been my God.
Our lives are given purpose & meaning because of Him:
Isaiah 49 NIV
[ The Servant of the LORD ] Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the LORD called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name.
2 He made my mouth like a sharpened sword,
in the shadow of his hand he hid me;
he made me into a polished arrow
and concealed me in his quiver.
3 He said to me, "You are my servant,
Israel, in whom I will display my splendor."
Our salvation is based on Christ alone--not on any works we may do to try to "earn" salvation.
Ephesians 2:1-10 NIV
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Eph%202:1-10&version=NIV
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
2 Corinthians 5
6 Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord.
So when we are away from it, we, trusting in His promises, are in His presence.
Question: What is the best job working with babies? I had a premie in NICU and thought they were awesome. I took that opportunity, every one of her nurses got an interview. It sounded like something I could do and would love. She passed away, at home 3 months old of "natural causes" anyways, and I even quite baby-sitting.
My first is 6 and I miss babies. Still thinking about teaching, but what is the best job working with babies? It has been 2 years and I am ready to be around itty bitties again. I have been around a few babies and feel much better now. I have days, like everyone else, but this is life and I can help other babies or mommies with itty bitties.
Answer: My local hospital has a department that offers free classes for parents and I always thought that the people who work there had the best job. They just seem to go to work and get to play with the babies and toddlers all day long.
Question: What if the babies father hasnt really been there for me during the pregnancy does he have to sign the papers? The babies father hasn't really been there for the first 7 and a half months or so until now. I want to put the baby up for adoption. He wants me to put the baby up for adoption to one of his family members and I don't want to. I already found a family but he doesn't like him. He doesn't really work and all that. Does he have to sign the papers?
Answer: Yes he would have to.
Question: At what age should you start teaching babies right from wrong? My baby is 10 months and my friend has a baby the same age. When can babies tell right from wrong. She smacks her babies hand or butt. She doesn't do it hard but I am just curious if the baby even knows what they should or shouldn't be doing and should you start teaching them at 10 months?>?
Answer: We just use redirection: moving them away and giving them a "yes" thing. We are not in favor of spanking at all. Both are very well behaved, but we use a lot of redirection, consequences- for our son who understands them, and verbal rewards...it works here.
At 10 months, the drive to get to whatever they want overrides the thought of a spank or the word, "NO", and so they proceed.
There are other ways to discipline- what works for us may not work for another, but our son has autism and we found spanking always caused a meltdown the few times we used it- because we didn't know WHAT ELSE TO DO. Therapy and time taught us what works, and so we are using this on our daughter as well.
She is 17 months now and when we say no, she moves away, unless it REALLY turns her on...and then we redirect, say no firmly and give her a Yes thing. Sometimes she will toss a tantrum, and we lay her down and walk away. It ends quickly.
I have clapped my hands to redirect her attention first. I teach in a rough area of the city- I cannot spank the children in my class and they come in with awful behaviors...and turn it around using similar tactics...and rewards as well as consequences...so, my husband and I made the decision not to use it on our kids and it works.
That is what we use. Good luck!
Question: Can young babies tell the difference between humans and household pets? My 4 1/2 month old daughter seems to have just as much fun being with our puppy as she does with her mummy or daddy, which has made me wonder if babies can actually tell the difference between humans and animals?
Do babies realise that they belong to the human species, and not another animal species?
Do they know that mummy and daddy are of the same species as they are?
Answer: I would say that a baby that young has no clue about 'species' as older children might catch on to. I think that your baby knows that you are 'Mom' - the one that mostly cares for her, feeds her and comforts her. I think too that she knows who 'Dad' is - the other smell that comforts and cares for her (and potentially feeds her). I doubt that she will consciously think about the differences between your dog and her parents - other than the dog is fun but doesn't necessarily feed her. She likely sees your dog as a 'familiar presence' and something that comforts her (my dog hones in on crying kids and goes to 'their aid' - whether we humans like it or not, so i am assuming your dog does something similar).
Species doesn't enter as a concept but familiarity does. Your dog is familiar and comforting, just like you and your husband are. Your dog likely tickles and plays gently, which causes her to have fun.
I am not sure if that makes sense but it's hard to describe.
Question: Can a babies head go flat from not turning them in their sleep? Okay so my friend works with someone that had a perfectly healthy normal baby, but now the babies head is flat in one spot and the baby is devolping slowly and has alot of problems. She told me it was because the baby wasn't turned in it's sleep. I've NEVER heard of this before, but is it true you have to turn your babies head or this happens????
I thought a baby shouldnt even be sleeping that long to get a flat head.
Answer: No. Babies have soft spots on their heads called fontanelles. It takes a good year or two for these to start to harden with the rest of the skull. However, just because a baby sleeps with the head a certain way does not mean it's going to be flat. If anything the back of the head may be the last area to get hair due to the sleep position but it will not cause the head to be flat. Unless of course the baby is sleeping on concrete! The slow development and problems, more than likely, are from something completely different.
Question: When do babies start scribbling with crayons? I read on Baby Center that babies start scribbling with crayons around 12 months. My daughter is 13 months and most things still go into her mouth... especially paper.
Answer: My daughter never took much of an interest till 15 months. She finally stopped attempting to eat random objects a month shy of 2yrs. But to this day (25 months) she still has a rough time coloring on paper . . she prefers random objects and walls. My son has a different temperament. He is very eager to learn and listen. So he stopped the whole sticking things in his mouth when he was approx. a year and was scribbling with crayons by 12 - 13 months.
Question: When do babies start sleeping through the night? My son's pediatrician said babies start sleeping through the night when are able to eat more in one feeding in order to keep them satisfied for a longer period of time. How old was your baby when they started sleeping through the night?
actually, food does have something to do with it. If a baby is hungry, he will wake up to eat. If he eats more in one feeding he will "last longer" through the night. My son only wakes up during the night to eat.
Answer: My daughter started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old. She is now 12 weeks old and still sleeping through the night...anywhere from 6-10 hours a night. I dont expect this to last forever though...lol.
Question: How many babies can a hamster give birth? How many babies can a Syrian hamster give birth to? And what is the average number of babies born and also survived in one litter? Thankyou.
Answer: Up to 20, but that's quite rare and they probably won't all make it. Most syrian hamsters can have between 4 and 12 pups successfully on their first litter.
Question: When do babies start a good sleeping schedule? I have a 3 month old little boy and I like to go places and get things done around the house etc... I am dying for him to get on a good sleeping schedule so I can plan my day a little better and finally finish things I start without worrying about my baby. When do babies start a good sleeping schedule? What can I do to help keep a strict sleeping schedule with out him crying when I put him down? Any suggestions would help tremendously! Thanks!
Answer: Hey Hun, I know you are probably a bit frustrated. My triplets are 4 1/2 months old. I was in the same situation as you. I had things around the house.. etc. that needed to get done. My triplets were finally on a good sleeping schedule by about 3 1/2-4 months. I just set our a schedule that worked & I put them down at the same time everyday, after a while, they finally got used to it & they sleep wonderful now. It takes time, be patient & it will get done. =) Good Luck!
Question: How did they keep babies quiet when royalty would pass by? I've seen lots of movies and read a lot of books where when royalty would be passing by, everyone kinda stops what they are doing to bow. How did they keep the babies quiet though? Babies cry randomly, so you gotta imagine that a few babies would start up when everyone bowed at least a few times.
Answer: As far as I know, there is no rule that says that babies have to be kept quiet while royalty is passing by, and never has been.
However, at court, there generally would not be any babies. Courtiers did not, on the whole, bring their families to court with them.
Question: When do babies start to control their facial expressions? I know young babies can't control their facial expressions like when they smile or whatever. Just wondering when babies start to gain some control over this? Also what about the movement of their eyes? Sometimes my 3 week old eyes go crossed or move weirdly. I know this is normal but when do they start to control their eye muscles?
Answer: My baby girl was born 10/8/09 and JUST started to smile at me. She'll be 6 weeks on Thursday. She has just started to outgrow the crossing-eyes, too. So, my guess would be around 5/6 weeks.
Question: How many babies must a woman have to apply for welfare? I am single, independent, with a good job and a degree and I am tired of this life. I see so many unmarried women with kids on welfare or getting assistance from the "system". All they have to do is work at a fast food joint or do part time work, pop babies and get on welfare. I would like to know how many babies must I have to get on welfare, quit my good job and work at McDonald's or something?
Answer: In Texas it's 12.
