Answer: It works if it works, is the straight answer. Some people find it works for them, some people don't. I keep bees, and get a lot of people coming to me for local honey for their hayfever, and most of them reckon it works. The theory is that bee pollen helps against hay-fever because, by eating the pollen that might be causing the allergy, your body gets used to the pollen, and your immune system (the allergy is an over-reaction of the immune system) starts behaving itself again. If this theory is right, then local pollen, or honey, which has traces of pollen in it, should do the trick. The problem with that is that hay-fever pollen is spread by wind, not by bees. Hay-fever pollen is typically grass pollen, whereas bee pollen comes from flowers. If they're different types of pollen, from different sorts of plants, how can eating it help? Especially as the process of eating it breaks it down very quickly, like any other sort of food. After all, if eating stuff makes you immune to it, how come people get food poisoning? The answer to that is we don't know. That's not surprising - the immune system is hideously complicated, and varies from person to person, and within each person it changes over time. We don't even know what it is in the pollen that causes the allergy - ordinary allergy remedies change the symptoms, not the cause - so we've no way to tell whether the theory is right. It may be that there's something in pollen, of whatever sort, that affects the immune system in a way we don't know. At least, some people's immune systems. Not only that, but we're also familiar with the placebo effect - just by doing something that you think might help is, in itself, helpful, even if there's no obvious reason why it should be. In short, not everything works for everybody, but if it works for you then yes, it really works.

Answer: It's rare that dogs would be allergic to bee pollen, kind of like people and peanuts. It can be serious but most dogs do just fine with bee pollen. You just need to watch them carefully after the first time you give it to them and get them to the vet on the odd chance your dog is one of the few that is allergic. The benefits definitely far outweigh the risks in my opinion. It's a very natural source of vitamins, enzymes and minerals that are great for dogs, especially kibble fed dogs that need a natural source of enzymes. All my dogs get bee pollen in a supplement and do really well on it. I don't know the exact dosage for just bee pollen since mine comes in a mixed supplement, but here's what I use if you are interested. Answer: A lot of energy. Bee pollen is high in vitamin B (no joke intended) and is mostly used as energy booster.

Question: If I have a deadly allergy to a bee sting, can I still take bee pollen or eat raw local honey for allergies? I have a deadly allergy to bee stings and carry an epi-pen everywhere I go. I've been told that I should never consume raw honey because of this allergy. Separately, however, I learned that taking local bee pollen or consuming raw local honey would help with my awful allergies (I take sudafed on a daily basis year-round). Answer: NO..pollen helps for plant allergies ..not bee alergies I dont know if bee products like honey would hurt you ..I doubt it but ask your doctor

Answer: I dont think it would really have a huge impact, bee pollen is important because when a bee goes from flower to flower it spreads the pollen and helps the flowers reproduce, the pollen we eat is collected from the bees in the hive, after they have polinated flowers basically. its a process of catching the pollen that falls off them with a trap of sorts under the hive, so it would have fell off them any way, were just catching it before it hits the ground :P

Answer: Yes it is... You have the ability to fend off any bacteria it may have and none of that bacteria will pass to the milk. Bee pollen is actually really good for you! I was told that if you put breastmilk in a liquid that had bacteria in it the bacteria level would be lower after you added it in... Something neat my lactation consultant told me!

Answer: either is fine, the important thing is that the product is local, harvested within 10 miles of where you live, or as close a possible.

Answer: No, pollen doesn't come from bees, but from flowers. It is usually crusted with germs and it will usually make skin worse. Besides, a lot of people are alergic to pollen.

Answer: NO please be super careful trying that product. I know it sounds really great, but a lot of people are allergic to pollen. And even bee's for that matter. Best to check it by your doctor. Trust me; I’ve messed up trying new things and even herbs. (which my dad has been into for years) Good luck, please be careful.

Answer: Bee pollen and honey are not vegan.... but they are vegetarian. Vegans believe that honey bees are enslaved by humans and that humans steal the bee's food from them. And, many bees die in the harvesting of honey and bee pollen. Vegans are a type of vegetarian who do not consume dairy, eggs or honey. They do not wear leather or use products that were tested on animal. Nor will they use cosmetics made from animal products (for example, most soaps are made with animal fat). Vegetarians, on the other hand, do not consume animal flesh. Most vegetarians (lacto-ovo vegetarians) will consume dairy, eggs and honey. Also, a lot of vegans will not consume sugar made from sugar cane. Most of the sugar made from sugar cane in the US is processed using bone-char. Bone-char is charcoal made from animal bones and is used in the filtering process of sugar. Beet sugar, on the other hand, is 100% vegan.

Question: Have you heard of a bee pollen diet? I take local bee pollen both as a supplement and to help with pollen allergies. I recently heard that you can eat nothing but bee pollen and water and lose weight effectively. I'm questioning this approach to weight loss. I don't know a lot of information about this diet, but it sounds unhealthy. Does anyone know the details of a bee pollen diet?

Answer: It doesn't sound healthy. I can tell you pollen is mostly protein and carotinoids with an indigestible exine shell, If you lose weight it's because there's not much there.
