Question: What type of chicken bones should my puppy be eating? I've been advised that it's healthy for my dog to be eating chicken bones, but what kind? Cooked or uncooked? Some people have been telling me to be feeding it cooked, yet some other people tell me to feed it uncooked chicken bones. I don't know which kind! My parents tell me it's vital for my dog to be eating chicken bones, as it provides lots of nutrients, and believe me, they're quite stubborn and refuse to not feed it chicken bones. Help!? Cooked or uncooked?
Answer: Uncooked - raw. Cooked bones are brittle and splinter and can cause serious problems.

Question: Why is it harmful for bones to be cooked before feeding to dogs? My MIL makes soup using marrow and/or knuckle bones. She saved the bones for our dog and I currently have them in the freezer because I read that cooked bones are dangerous. These are big, smooth bones, maybe even too big for my dog to carry.
What are the dangers?
Should have mentioned these are beef bones.
Answer: The preference is to provide cooked bones to avoid bacterial issues from raw ones. However, if you provide bones that have been cooked for a long time (i.e. simmering or boiling for hours), then the collagen that is contained within the bones comes out of them and makes the bones much more brittle and subject to splintering, which would be detrimental to your dog.
Since chicken (also duck, turkey, or goose) bones have even more hollow spaces (filled with collagen) in them than beef bones, it is best to NOT allow your dog to have any chicken bones at all. They splinter much worse than any other bones.
Question: How many bones are there in a human skeleton? I need to find if how many bones are there in a human body. And please give me specific answers about what is the actual count of the bones are there in our fingers, toes, ribs, skull, lower leg, lower arm, upper arm, upper leg, backbone, knee bone, hip bone, collar bone, ankle, and our breast bone. Please give me some answers for my project.PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Answer: Human Skeleton Human Anatomy
The human skeleton consists of 206 bones. We are actually born with more bones (about 300), but many fuse together as a child grows up. These bones support your body and allow you to move. Bones contain a lot of calcium (an element found in milk, broccoli, and other foods). Bones manufacture blood cells and store important minerals.
The longest bone in our bodies is the femur (thigh bone). The smallest bone is the stirrup bone inside the ear. Each hand has 26 bones in it. Your nose and ears are not made of bone; they are made of cartilage, a flexible substance that is not as hard as bone.
Joints: Bones are connected to other bones at joints. There are many different types of joints, including: fixed joints (such as in the skull, which consists of many bones), hinged joints (such as in the fingers and toes), and ball-and-socket joints (such as the shoulders and hips).
Differences between males and females: Males and females have slightly different skeletons, including a different elbow angle. Males have slightly thicker and longer legs and arms; females have a wider pelvis and a larger space within the pelvis, through which babies travel when they are born. They are skull, clavicle, maxilla, mandible, verbebrae, scapula, ribs, vertebrae, humerus, elbow, pelvis, radius, Sacrum, ulna, carpal, wrist, phalanges, femur, knee, patella, tibia, fibula, tarsals, metalarsals, phalanges. you can also check out EnchantedLearning.com. wish you the best and hope you find what you are looking for. best of luck
Question: Where can I find chicken bones or what to substitute with? A chicken broth receipe says that I need 5 lbs of chicken bones. My grocery store didn't have any. Where can I find chicken bones or what would be the next best part I could use to replace the bones?
Answer: I've never seen chicken BONES sold in a store anywhere ... Buy some chicken pieces, or just a whole fryer, and boil it up. You can always use the chicken in casseroles or chicken salad later.......
Question: What type of chewing bones and treats are safe for greyhound dogs and how often should you allow them ? Are there any of the dental bones, or marrow bones that are on the market that are known to damage teeth or gums?
Answer: My greyhounds have nylabones (which only 1 of them will chew). They also get been knuckle bones at least once every 2 weeks. I've found that I can only let them chew them for about 20 minutes a day or they're going to get the runs. They can stay in the fridge for 3 days so they get lots of chewing time in.
For treats, they get milk bones of some type as well as some absolutely terrific chicken jerky I found - the only ingredient is chicken breast and they're crazy about it. I also make them chicken livers which they'll do every trick they know to get and are learning new ones all the time. Just boil it with a pinch of salt and a bit of garlic powder. I also make them home-made biscuits from time to time - some with peanut butter, some with cheese, some with meat.
Question: What is the best way to save enough chicken bones to make stock? We do not eat that much chicken on the bone and I'm wondering if I can start to save the bones in a zip loc bag in the freezer and add to the bag until I have enough to make stock. Would you recommend removing leftover meat from the bones or freezing as is? How long will can you keep the bones in the freezer?
Answer: Grandma's answer is right on the money.
The only thing I would add is that a good way to accumulate enough bones to make a good stock is to buy whole chickens instead of pre-cut packages. You can cut up a raw chicken pretty easily if you don't mind getting your hands chicken-y. Once you get some practice, you will be able to break down a whole chicken in about 5 minutes. You will then have the entire carcass for stock, as well as whatever tidbits the packer included from the giblets/neck. Plus you save a good bit of money when compared to the pre-cut packs.
Here is a guide for cutting up a chicken:

Question: What dremel attachment is best for cutting chicken/turkey bones? I am a science teacher and my students will be examining various bones. I need to cut chicken/turkey/ham bones both in cross sections and longitudinal (length-wise) sections. This will allow students to examine the marrow cavity, spongy bone, and compact bone. Originally I thought a hack saw would work but then I thought a dremel would be better and faster. However, I am unsure what type of attachment would be best for this type of cutting. Any suggestions?
Answer: I use the round brown wheel cutter on my dremel I have cut metal locks and even glass so I'm sure it would work on bones

Question: What are the extra bones in your legs called? People who professionally ride horses often get "extra" bones in their legs. These structures are due to bloody deposits that calcify and ossify within the soft tissues. What medical name is given to these bones?
Answer: Heterotopic bone.
Question: What causes the cracking sound in our bones? Is it good or bad cracking bones? I like to crack my knuckles and neck, and if possible my back, especially when I am tired! Cracking bones makes me feel sooooo good. But what causes the sound? Is it bad to crack our bones?
Answer: The sound is caused by gases that are being releases from the fluid that is in between joints. This gas builds up bubbles which are released when you crack your knuckles or other bones. This is not harmful as long as you don't overly crack them. However there is some controversy that says it can cause soft tissue damage and make the joint weak but this is only if the joint is cracked too much all of the time. If it causes pain then you shouldn't crack the bone any more, and if not then it is probably fine.
Question: What particular bones in the skeletal system of the frog are absent from the human body? Conversely, what are the bones in the human body that are absent from the frog? Plus points the more you name and the more Latin they are.
Answer: Well reptiles have a jaw full of ear bones and mammals have an ear full of jaw bones :)
This is just speaking about the jaw - but obviously we also don't have a urostyle, and the lower leg bones are named differently - calcanium and talus vs. tibia and fibula.
Most of the bones in the frog skull have transitioned into different bones in the human skull. We don't have a quadratojugal, frogs do. Our lower jaw is considered a dentary, because of.. tada, dentition. Volmer teeth are present in SOME amphibians, mudpuppies are usually used as a good example, but this hardly qualifies as dentition.
Our dentary bone articulates with the squamosal bone, as opposed to most reptiles who have quadrate/articular articulation.
Mammals have malleus, incus and stapes as their middle ear bones, whereas most reptiles and amphibians only have a stapes.
The reptilian quadrate bone = our Incus.
And the reptilian articular bone = our Malleus.
Question: How did natural selection 'create' bones that can heal themselves when fractured or broken? I am not a creationist. This is just a question.
When I was 7 years old, I broke my left leg. They put a cast on it and within a few months it had healed. After a second, smaller cast was on it for a few weeks my leg was as good as new. I've hardly thought about it very much over the years.
It would seem that in nature if an animal broke a bone that it would be the end for them.
How could self-repairing broken bones come about by natural selection?
Answer: There are numerous fossil bones that show evidence of healing. Many fractures are not badly displaced and will heal well enough for an animal to survive. Technology has increased the percentage of fractures that can be survived, but healing was an advantage even in the minor ones.
Question: How are the bones in the hand connected? How are the different bones in the hand connected? Joints connect bone to bone and ligaments connect bone to muscle. But, the hand seems different, why is this?
Answer: Ligaments and fascia lata
Question: How many dogg bones should a 4 month old Chihua receive? She likes the Dingy doggy chews. They are small and just her size. But how often should you give them to her? She likes to chew on everything. She does not like the faked bones. What else can we provide to her?
Answer: I'd say give them to her when she has chewwed up the last one almost completly. As for the chewwing on everything part, I'd say give her something to accupy herself. Scold her if she chews on something she's not supposed to. My puppy always used to chew on everything, so we gave her a rawhide, and she stayed out of things, except for the trash.
