Question: What are some breakfast ideas when you have gestational diabetes? I'm 33 weeks pregnant and was recently diagnosed with a touch of gestational diabetes. I am no longer allowed to have more than 15g of carbs for breakfast before 10:00 am. So I have been reduced to some fruit and a glass of milk or yogurt for breakfast. Prior, I was a milk and cereal, muffins, oatmeal, eggs, bacon, and toast eater for breakfast. Now I am starving again after I've been at work for an hour with this reduced carb breakfast. It's hard to have the energy I need to keep up at work when I haven't had a filling breakfast. I start at 8:00 and I don't get my lunchbreak until 1:00 usually. I can bring a snack to tie me over until lunch, but I still can't even eat that until after 10. So do you have any good ideas of foods that will fill me up better but still be within the 15g of carbs guideline?
Answer: who the heck is your nutritional advisor on this problem? You really should get someone to give you good advice on this--a second opinion. and just what is a "touch" of gestational diabetes? I was 'borderline'. is that what you mean? Get yourself a glucose monitor and test yourself. I did. it wasn't fun. it wasn't cheap. but I was able to eat a healthy meal three times a day. just stay away from processed sugars and juice. Use no- or low fat dairy products, no butter or margarine, no sodas--not even diet--the fake sugar is bad for you too. I think for breakfast I had bran flakes with skim milk and a piece of whole wheat toast with fruit spread, and a cup of de-caf tea. You have only 7 weeks to term--make good choices. And the really fun part is that you should continue with the diabetic diet for the rest of your life because you are high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Lose weight, exercise daily. good luck. have a happy baby.
Question: What are some healthy breakfast ideas/toppings for frozen waffles? I have a box of low fat, whole wheat frozen waffles in my freezer. I want to incorporate them into my breakfasts, but I need some ideas. I like breakfast to be around 300-350 calories and two of these waffles are 140 calories. I tend to stray away from syrup because it contains too much simple sugar and too many calories. I need some protein in my breakfast too, but I don't eat meat or eggs.
Answer: top it with yogurt and eat fruit on the side.
Question: What is considered as the Japanese breakfast? What are my options for breakfast? What do Japanese eat for breakfast? What is a typical Japanese breakfast like? To be specific, what type of food does it normally consist? And the price?
Other than western-style ham and eggs, what are my options for breakfast in Tokyo? I will be staying in Ikebukuro.
Thanks.
Answer: Rice balls (onigiri) with different flavors, but most used in such hotels are the onigiri with konbu( like a seaweed, great for health, but still I don't like it) or sour plum. Also, you get tsukemono( different types of pickles, mostly radish, miniature eggplant, cucumber, but it depends on the hotel also). Another part of the Japanese style breakfast is miso soup(miso is beans paste, low calorie, healthy and delicious). If you are lucky, you may get tamago yaki( omelette, baked in a roll, really good one and not that greasy), beautifully cut out fish paste, jellied beans paste(tofu), sweet or sweetened beans.
Also, western breakfast is hardly ham&eggs in Japan. Mostly, it is different types of tasty freshly baked bread, cereal, salad, fruits, sausages( only slightly baked), boiled egg or that tamago-yaki, butter, jam, coffee or fresh juice.
You can have toast with butter or toast with cheese.
Japanese or western, I can assure you that the breakfast you'll be offered will be healthy and tasty one!I myself always have breakfast at the hotel or hostel I'm staying at, and I've traveled a lot.
Question: What are some different breakfast's that people have enjoyed? My wife said that my breakfast was odd. I had steamed asparagus (product of Mexico), fresh French bread toasted, and a cup of tea. She said most people have normal things like bacon and eggs, toast, homefries, and coffee, etc. I have heard of people who have had a vanilla milkshake and leftover cold pizza for breakfast. Has anyone else out there have had a supposedly odd breakfast and what was it?
Answer: your breakfast sounds awesome, bacon and eggs is just something to make when you have no time and cold pizza is just solid dude... and yes the vanilla milkshake would get me out of bed and rollin... but one of the best things for breakfast is: leftover lasagna from the past night with some xtra cheese on it... mmmmmmm
Question: What's a breakfast that will keep me full for a good long time? Because I go to Junior High I have to have to have my breakfast as early as 6:00. Then i don't have lunch till 11:30. I usually have cereal like fruit loops or cinimon toast crunch 4 breakfast, but I always end up being dying hungry by 3rd period. What's a breakfast that will keep me full for a good long time. But doesn't take too long to make because I don't have much time.
Answer: French toast or pancakes are a good breakfast along with a glass of orange juice and you should be good to go. Sometimes I make my pancakes or french toast a few days in advance and then I freeze them. Whenever I get ready for breakfast, I just heat and eat.
Question: There are breakfast burritos, but where is the Breakfast Nacho? I could definitely get down on some Breakfast Nachos. Is there such a thing? Would society allow such a thing? Would I incur the wrath of God?
Answer: I think because eggs are a little jiggly you would have a hard time scooping them up. But come to think of it, you could fry up some whole wheat totillas to make the crowns and make a breakfast taco salad using scrambled eggs chirizo sausage peppers onions salsa sour cream and lots of cheese. I think even God would be down with some of that
Question: Any good breakfast or lunch spots in San Francisco during the week for a birthday? Hello,
I live in San Francisco. I am taking the day off for my husband's birthday, it's on a Wednesday. We are having a party for him that night, but I want to take him somewhere really fancy for breakfast or lunch that day, to kick off the birthday celebration. Any nice places you could recommend during the work week for breakfast or lunch, where the food is good and he will be impressed?
Answer: A really sweet breakfast/brunch type place is at Stacks in Burlingame. Since you'd be going on a Wednesday, I don't think you'd have to wait long for a table. It is popular so if you are going for lunch, you will probably have a bit of a wait.
Crustacean's is a really nice place to go. They have the best garlic noodles there. (not sure about lunch...they used to be open for lunch but I'm not sure now)
http://bobs-steakandchop.com/index.html at The Omni Hotel

The Rotunda at Neiman Marcus (sorry couldn't get the link to work)
Hope this helps. I know more places but they are only open for dinner. The ones I gave you links for are all open for lunch. All have good food too. If you don't like these or they're not your hubby's taste, the best advice that I can give you is to pick areas like the popular tourist spots like the Fisherman's Wharf and the Financial District for those areas are more likely to have the fancy dining at lunch. Enjoy your day off! =P
Question: Why is breakfast important and what happens if I miss it every day? I had a problem with breakfasts most of my life. I cant remember how it started, but mabe it was when I had to wake up for school at 6-7am and didnt feel like eating that early + was embarrased to eat in class.
Anyway... At least for the past 15-19 years of my life I've been skipping breakfast pretty much every day simply because I feel like vomiting when I see food any earlier than 11am-12pm. I enjoy food and get hungry just fine at other times of the day after that.
I'm 25, and I heared that skipping breakfast slows your metabolism. Mabe that's one of the reasons I grew a belly I never had when I was in my teens? Do you think there's something wrong with me that could explain why I cant eat in the morning? What can you suggest I can do to start eating breakfast? What are the things that can happen to someone who skips breakfast?
Answer: It's unhealthy. Skipping breakfast can affect learning, memory and physical well-being. When they skip breakfast, some people will experience symptoms of low blood sugar. They will feel light-headed, shaky, weak and be unable to concentrate. Skipping breakfast can impair thinking. Skipping breakfast to lose weight can backfire. Studies have shown that children who do not eat breakfast are almost twice as likely as breakfast eaters to be overweight.
You can eat in the morning, you've just chosen not to and it's become a bad habit.
Question: What are some breakfast foods that can keep me full until lunch? My lunch has been moved later in the day. I eat breakfast around 6:30 am and the lunch I have varies day-to-day from 12:00-12:45 pm. By that time my stomach is growling. What are some foods that I can have for breakfast that can help me stay full until my lunchtime?
Answer: Oatmeal and sliced fruit. On the side add 2 eggs and bacon with buttered toast.
Question: What is the difference between continental breakfast and a complimentary breakfast or are they the same? I am planning a vacation and I am trying to decide between two hotels. One says they have a continental breakfast and the other say they have a complimentary breakfast. What is the difference? Thank You!
Answer: Complimentary breakfast means it is free and hotels that offer free breakfast usually do it self service or buffet style that could be either continental or full breakfast. A continental breakfast means it will NOT offer eggs and meat like ham, bacon or sausage, there is no mention of whether it is free or not.
Question: What are good tips to feel like eating breakfast in the morning? I'm never hungry in the morning and I don't feel like eating breakfast.
I feel breakfast takes so much time to prepare and it's time consuming and stops me from doing anything else.
So....What are good tips to make me feel hungry in the morning so I can enjoy breakfast?
Does it happen to anyone here that you are not hungry in the morning, say, 6, 7 or 8 A.M and you don't feel like having breakfast?
I'm normaly hungry past 10.30 am.
Answer: Eat an apple when you get up and start moving in the morning. Apples tend to stimulate hunger. It might be what you need to get hungry for a good breakfast.
Otherwise, just listen to your body and eat when you are hungry.
Question: What bread can I make for breakfast without an oven or toaster oven? I'd like a bread to go with a breakfast I'm making. My oven won't be fixed for a week and I don't own a toaster. Is there a breakfast bread I can make/prepare without either of these? All I can think of is toast and biscuits that require a toaster and/or an oven. I'm making a typical American breakfast, if it matters, scrambled eggs and bacon like.
Thanks so much!
Answer: You can toast it in a pan like you would make a grilled cheese. Butter it first, then put it in the pan for a few minutes, turn, repeat.
Question: Breakfast buzz: How do 9-5 working people enjoy the most important meal of the day when you are in a hurry? I know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but how do someone who works regular office hours 9-5 enjoy a big delicious and healthy breakfast meal when they have to take a bus or the train to work every day? It's not only the time constraint. What about getting in a morning exercise before work? And how can they enjoy a big breakfast when they know there's at least 8 hours of work still ahead? No wonder people eat the most during dinner.
Answer: It's all about scheduling! And also convenience. I personally have to get up at 5am if I want to make a big breakfast and have time to eat it ... not to mention get my kid ready and her fed as well. So instead of waking up EXTRA early - I only do that on days I run (MWF) - I make it an acitivity of convenience. For breakfast we'll have fruit salad, a slice of wheat toast and a glass of milk and oj. I like this because you can make the salad the night before and just pull it out of the fridge the next morning. You can even prepare breakfast meals like pancakes and freeze them, then just pop em in the microwave when you're ready to eat them. There's a bunch of quick easy breakfast ideas out there ... check out some recipe sites that may give you some suggestions. I love kraftfoods.com because I have a two year old ... everything there is pretty simple to make and doesn't consume too much time.
Question: What are some fast breakfast foods to make? I usually have oatmeal or cold cereal with milk. Or sometimes a bagel.
I have been getting tired of eating the same things for breakfast, and I was wondering what kinds of things everyone here has for breakfast that can be made relatively fast.
Well, I'd rather have something more healthy.
I don't know how healthy pancakes are. But I guess I could make those. I've had them before though.
Answer: Lately I've become a real fan of toasted whole-grain bread spread lightly with peanut butter and topped with apple slices. Add a side of plain yogurt and you're good to go.
Question: What should a healthy breakfast consist of? I need to have a nutritional, filling breakfast as I do not have to time to eat anything other than fruit snacks until dinner time.
What can I include in my breakfast to make it nutritional?
Answer: Most people have a bowl of cereal, like Rice Krispies or Cheerios with milk. Others eat a cup of orange juice, some popcorn or another munchie, even a bagel with cream cheese, then maybe add a can of tuna with mayonnaise or a nutritional drink, similar to Ensure. Others just go to Mcdonalds to get an egg mcmuffin or a fruit parfait. Others eat leftovers or blueberries and oatmeal. Others like to eat salsa and tortilla chips with some other goodies. What do you like?
