Breath
Question: what is the best way to breath to save air when you are competing in a sprinting track event? Is there a certain way that you pump your arms while sprinting or a certain way to breath to save oxygen when running?Do you breath through your nose or your mouth? Do you breath in long heavy breaths or short fast breaths?
Answer: The proven way is long, heavy breaths. Like you're trying to relax. Nice, deep breathes all the way.
Question: How to not let the bad breath interfere in our kissing? Do you know any person who never emits bad breath? I mean, it is very difficult to keep your breath always fresh. But how can we make sure that our kissing needs are not disturbed due to bad breath. I know, oral hygiene is most important, but can you give me some tips how we can keep our breath fresh most of the time.
Answer: Kissing is nice...
Oral hygiene is sometimes underrated. Tongue scrapers, flossing and thorough brushing will remove residues of food which gather bacteria (which smell). Mouth wash and sprays are just a temporary solution.
Personally I smoke, i drink coffee and my breath is sort of a devils spawn sometimes. I take a "fishermans friend" before kissing. Try it.
Question: How can I learn to breath in through my nose and out through my mouth? I've heard this is one of the best breathing techniques around, so the last week or so I've been trying to "teach" myself how to breath this way naturally, without having to concentrate on it.
The problem is I naturally breath in and out through my mouth which is making it really difficult to "naturally" breath the way I want.
(I want to do this to improve my cardio, relaxation and anything else.)
Please help.
Answer: Breathe In Through Your Nose.steps to do it-
1. Place one hand flat against the abdomen. Your thumb should be around your navel.
2. Breathe in through your nose at an even rate.
3. Allow your abdomen to expand, rather than your upper chest. You should feel the hand on your abdomen being pushed away from your body as your abdomen rises.
4. Count silently starting from "one".
Breathe Out Through Your Mouth:steps to do it-
1. Breathe out slowly and evenly through your mouth.
2. Again, count silently. Exhalation should take about twice as long as inhalation. So if you counted to three when you inhaled, strive to count to six when you exhale, but don't force it.
Question: What can cause a persons breath to smell like cigarette smoke when they do not smoke? For the first time ever my girlfriend says my breath smells like cigarettes. I do NOT smoke, I have good hygiene and I see my dentist regularly. I do however drink about 3-4 cups of coffee daily. Is this the reason why my breath smells like cigarette smoke or could there be some other reason? She also says that my breath doesn't smell like cigarette smoke even when we are face to face but only when we kiss does she smell the cigarettes.
Answer: your question includes the answer!
drinking 3_4 cups of coffee everyday...like it or dislike...alters your breath..
coffee has a peculiar tendency of worsening the breath as well as damaging the enamel.
that's why i suggest you rinse your mouth thoroughly after you drink coffee and have some mint...might help..
peacexx
Question: How to maintain breath while running and tips on improving? Hi.Im thinking about joining the track team next year.I lose breath very fast while running. How do I maintain breath ?
And when I run,my whole body hurts. And how do I improve on speed and stamina?
How often should i practice? And how long each sessions?
Any other tips?
Answer: You "lose breathe" because you are not fit. You get fit by doing more running. Start out with a program of easy running and walking.
Improving on speed is the last thing you should be worrying about now. Speed training requires a large background of fitness. Your stamina will improve as you start running more consistently.
Question: Why does my breath start to smell bad after I pull consecutive all-nighters? When I get a decent 8-10 hours of sleep every night, my breath is perfectly normal. However, after I pull consecutive all-nighters, or just stay up late a few nights, my breath starts to smell like death.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that I'm destroying my body by not sleeping. Can anyone give an exact biological explanation? Please don't just give me a website, sum it up in your own words.
I do brush my teeth and I do drink lots of water. Like I said above, I have perfectly normal breath when I don't stay up late.
Please, before you answer, know that I HAVE PERFECTLY NORMAL BREATH WHEN I DON'T STAY UP LATE. I drink plenty of water, am not undernourished, and do not have any gastrointestinal problems whatsoever. The problem is about the LACK OF SLEEP. Please stop saying how I'm dehydrated or seriously sick. Please.
Answer: When your mouth is closed for several hours, that is when the bacteria starts to attacked. One of them is bad breath. Maybe flossing after brushing will help. Avoid garlic for dinner. Or maybe you have early stage of periodontal disease... Just trying to help
Question: How long can you hold your breath without harming yourself? I was having a breath holding competition between me and a few friends, we had a two or three rounds, they came up around the 1 minute mark so I came up to. I figured our bodies needed oxygen so I'd say we'd got for round three in 10 minutes. Round four comes by and I hold my breath for 2 minutes beating both of them (for the 4th time). I was thinking, curious, how long can you hold your breath under water without posing damage to your body?
Answer: Well you can't kill yourself if that's what you mean
Question: How long does your breath stay fresh after brushing your teeth? I want to start good dental habits and get rid of my bad breath. I was thinking brushing twice a day, flossing before bed, using mouth wash after each brush, tongue scrapping after each brush, and start eating healthily.
After how long will i have good oral hygeine and fresh breath that will last 5 hours or more?
Answer: It doesn't. You just think it does. The reason is that most bad breath comes from the top of the tongue, not the teeth. Brushing just causes some of the toothpaste to collect on the top of the tongue so you taste the toothpaste and think you do not have bad breath. After a short time the smell from the top of the tongue win out. Good oral hygiene is: brush and floss your teeth and then clean the top of your tongue with a tongue brush that has both a brush and scraper. You must remove the bacteria and food and drink residue that collect there in the deep indentations of the tongue surface. See http//www.orabrush.com Test have shown that using OraBrush tongue cleaner will control bad breath up to 12hours.
Question: What are some ways to learn to breath from your diaphragm? My voice teacher is always telling me to breath from my diaphragm but its always hard for me. She tells me to put my hands on my waist and if I feel my fingers expanding to the front and my thumb expanding to the back then I am breathing properly but when I do that I feel like the air isn't going to my lungs and like I'm out of breath or like I'm holding my breath. I'm not sure how to explain it. I don't have the best posture could that be why?
Answer: A good way breathe through your diaphragm is to lay flat on your back and as you breathe imagine a red balloon being filled with air as you breath in and out. Laying down will help you stay relaxed and focused which will help you keep your shoulders down. Ask your vocal teacher for some exercises in strengthening your diaphragm. A strong diaphragm allows you to hold notes longer with a nice full sound to them.
Question: How long does bad breath last after eating onions and garlic? I hate the idea of having bad breath, it's almost like a phobia. I always pick the onions out of my food and usually don't eat garlic. How long does bad breath last after these things? I know garlic is worse.
Thanks!
Answer: They can last a couple of days, but be aware that raw onions and garlic are much worse than cooked, which don't tend to last long at all.
Question: When does shortness of breath usually start? I am 25 weeks pregnant and I have been getting short of breath recently. Sometimes when I am walking or doing something and sometimes when I am just sitting here. I know that shortness of breath is common, especially late in pregnancy when baby and your uterus start pushing on your diaphragm. Does it start happening now though? Any experience with this?
Thanks.
Answer: Hi never been pregnant, but have some medical education. Saw your post and have some concerns. While it is true that women get short of breath later in pregnancy, but it seems a little early at 25 weeks. Could be just that. But in medicine we are taught to worry first about the scary things that can be happening so that we can rule them out before problems arise and that is the only reason I am mentioning this. DO NOT BE SCARED BY THIS. VERY SLIM CHANCE this is what's going on. I just want you to get checked out, okay....but in pregnancy, women become more hypercoagulable--that is they are more prone to blood clots an that can lead to something called a pulmonary embolism. That kind of what you hear about sometimes when people are on a long plane ride. The blood can clot in your leg and move to your lungs and cause problems like shortness of breath and frankly death. Like I said 99% sure this is not the case with you, but my point is keep your doctor informed and get checked out to make sure nothing is wrong--that goes for everything.
Hope this helps.
Question: How can I make my breath support more steady and consistent for playing trombone? Lately I've had a lot of trouble with my breath support and I know that one of the problems is with how steady it is. Because it is unsteady and the airflow isn't completely constant, my tone is also unsteady as is my intonation. My tuner is even showing this. How can I make my breath support stronger and more steady?
Answer: The best way to work on breath support and help out your other issues is to work on long tones. Try this excercise, it works wonders for my horn playing...
Using a metronome set at 60 BPM (beats per minute), take a deep breath and play a note within comfortable range for 12 clicks.
Things to work on:
1. Attack the note the softest humanly possible. You shouldn't use your tongue to start the note. A French "peu" should be sufficient to start the attack at this dynamic level with a clear start of vibration in the middle of your embouchure.
2. Count your clicks, and increase your dynamic level in equal value click by click until 6 and a half is the loudest that you can possibly play.
3. when you reach 6 and a half, gradually decrease volume as you hear the remaining 6 clicks. Volume at click 12 should be the same volume as click 1.
Be careful to maintain pitch throughout the dynamic levels. Tendency is to blow the pitch higher in the loud dynamics and to let the pitch sag in the lighter dynamics.
Remember this: Support is only the means for an end... If you can visualize a musical arc or phrase in your mind, and you can hear it in your mind, you should be able to produce it physically. The exercise above certainly helps strengthen me for those longer, more difficult phrases.
After you gain confidence on your favorite, most comfortable note, change registers and challenge yourself in the high and low registers. You will see dramatic improvement of your strength, endurance, and sound quality.
Good luck.

Answer: I am not sure that there is necessarily any "cure" for this. I would say however that drinking a lot of water would at least greatly diminish it.
Question: How can I get my dogs breath to smell better without brushing his teeth he hates that? He has the worst case of doggy breath ever and anytime i ever tried brushing his teeth he wiggs out bad and flails and what not. Its so bad i can stand him breathing in my direction. Can someone please give me some doogy breath tips!
Answer: Take him to the vet for a professional dental clean - if they think his teeth are bad enough thus causing the foul breath they will put him under and give a thorough clean and get all the plaque and stains of his teeth.
Is there no on that can help you with his teeth? I have a friend with an older dog who isn't keen on it either so she buys this tooth paste from the vets called: Logic - And you can put it on with your finger, apparently their saliva activities the paste to start working its way onto the plaque and cleaning the teeth. Other things that may help:
Rawhides
Daily Denta-bones
Peppermint flavored rawhides
Actual Raw meaty bones from the butcher (can get them for free just ask for scraps)
There is this thing from the pet shop you could buy, it's called charcoal for pets - put a table spoon each daily with meals and it sorts them out internally, so his farts will get less smelly and so may his breath as it may also be stomach related. They do the chunks of charcoal and they do the granulated ones - i'd get the granulates it's like sprinkles.
This may sound weird put i usually put peanut butter in with their kongs everyday and that gives them a permanent peanut butter smelling breath which isn't bad at all lol! I do brush their teeth three times a week if not more but with Titus (our lively lab) i need help from my partner to pin him down and prize his jaws open - IF you can give the brushing another go.
Question: How do I get my cats breath to stop smelling like tuna? It's either her breath or she is in heat. Do they make breath mints for cats? I know they do for dogs.
Bonus question! Where do you buy light ID tags for kittens/cats.
Answer: Don't feed her tuna that often; with the mercury and lack of nutrients like taurine, it's not really that healthy for kitties.
A great treat/breath treat for cats are called Breathies. They're little strips of meat jerky that really work. My cat smelled better almost instantly, and he went crazy for them, too.
And a walmart or any pet store will have id tags.
