As polar fleece is quite fluffy, the chewing gum has adhered itself very well. I've tried the usual stain removers and laundry detergent in an attempt to break it down, but it didn't work. Is there a safe, effective way to remove, break down or dissolve the gum? Without ruining my blanket? :)
Answer: There is always goo gone.
It's oily and pretty good at breaking the hold of gum.
Question: What are the main ingredients that make up chewing gum? How is it that we can chew, and chew, and chew bubble gum, and chewing gum, and it never loses its texture. How is chewing gum made, and what ingredients are used to make it?
Answer: Up until WWII, chewing gum was made of a substance called chicle mixed with flavorings. Chicle is a latex sap that comes from the sapodilla tree (native to Central America). In other words, chicle is a form of rubber. Just like rubber bands don't dissolve when you chew them, neither does chicle. Chicle is a good bit softer than rubber bands and happens to soften more when it gets warm in your mouth. If you freeze chicle with ice, it gets very stiff -- chicle hardens and softens over a pretty narrow temperature range.
After WWII, chemists learned how to make artificial gum bases to replace chicle. These gum bases are essentially synthetic rubbers that have the same temperature profile as chicle.
Gum bases (either natural or artificial) are mixed with sugar and other flavorings to make chewing gum. When you chew it, the rubber releases these flavorings into your mouth.

Question: What do schoolteachers think about chewing gum in class? What do teachers (middle school teachers, preferably) think about students chewing gum in class? Why don't you like it? I have to write a persuasive essay for English class about why NOT to allow chewing gum in class and I'd like some reasons from teachers. Why does chewing gum bother you?
Answer: There are several reasons why teachers don't like gum in classes.
1. It gets stuck everywhere, especially under chairs and desks. Nobody wants to sit with somebody's pre-chewed gum.
2. It contains high amounts of sugar, and this is hard on the voice and on musical instruments.
3. It is a major distraction, especially when one person continually blows bubbles the entire class.
Hope it helped
Question: How do you get chewing gum off of the bottom of shoes? I hate it when idiots leave their chewing gum in parking lots, on sidewalks, etc.
Anywho, how do you get that darn gum off the bottom of a pair of shoes?
Answer: I would say Ether would do it the best (paint thinner, starting fluid etc) just make sure you don't get it on the other parts of the show
Question: How can I get over my fear of chewing gum? I once had a cavity on one of my molars. A bad dentist didn't clean my molar right, and left germs in there before applying a filling.
After some months, my molar was getting eaten by cavities from the inside out without me knowing it.
One day, I was chewing gum like I used to love when my molar just got crushed. It was such a terrible experience! With another dentist, I had to get a porcelain incrustation. I lost like half of my molar.
It wasn't the chewing gum's fault, that molar had been getting hollow for some time.
But sometimes I really feel like chewing gum, but as soon I put one on my mouth, I get all scared and just can't chew anymore.
How can I chew gum again?
Answer: This is a tough one. It seems like you know that it is an irrational feeling. You could try what is sometimes called "flooding," have a friend with you, tell them not to let you stop chewing gum no matter how scared you get. Basically force yourself to chew gum so that in the end you can realize that you can chew gum without hurting yourself.
Question: How do you get chewing gum out of a jacket? I had gum in the pocket of my jacket, and washed it in the laundry. The gum got stuck on everything, but I managed to scrape it out of the washing machine and out of the other clothes that the gum was stuck on simply by using my fingernail and a wet washcloth. However, a lot of the gum got stuck in the thick fur of my jacket, and it seems to be stuck pretty good. Any suggestions on how to get the chewing gum out of my jacket?
Answer: Try using ice cubes. Gum is soft and gooey...but when you put an ice cube on it, it will freeze up and will be much easier to remove. Works great on clothes, shoes, sofas, carpets... just about everything.
It may take a little while to do this, but it will work.
Or else, put your jacket in the freezer for a couple of hours. The gum will get really cold and hard...should be easy to peel off the fur.
Hope this helps.

Question: How do I get my chewing gum made? I have an idea for a chewing gum. I do not know the industry.
Does anyone know how I can get this product manufactured?
1. Factories that can make and package the gum for me?
2. Do I need to find a chemist?
3. Anything else?
Thank you so very much.
Answer: Chewing gum is a type of confectionery which is designed to be chewed instead of swallowed. Traditionally, it was made of chicle, a natural latex product, although for reasons of economy and quality many modern chewing gums use petroleum-based polymers instead of chicle. Chicle is nonetheless still the base of choice for some regional markets, such as in Japan. Glee Gum is the last United States gum manufacturer to still use chicle.
Composition and manufacture
The chewing gum is made of a "gum base" with added flavoring and sometimes food coloring . The exact composition of gum bases is usually a trade secret, but common ingredients can be latexes (eg. leche, caspi, sorva, nispero, tunu, jelutong, or chicle, which is still commercially produced), paraffin wax or beeswax, polyethylene, polyvinyl acetate, stearic acid, and various natural gums.
Old gum bases were based on latexes, vegetable gums like chicle, spruce gum, or mastic gum. Alternative choices were waxes, eg. paraffin wax and beeswax. Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana and at Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company are studying the possibility of making gum base with biodegradable zein (corn protein). [2]
The approximate manufacturing methods are fairly constant between brands. The gum base is melted at a temperature of about 115 °C (240 °F), until it has the viscosity of thick maple syrup, and filtered through a fine mesh screen. Then it is further refined by separating dissolved particulars in a centrifuge, and further filtered. Clear base, still hot and melted, is then put into mixing vats. Other ingredients that may be added include: powdered sugar, whose amount and grain size determines the brittleness of the result, corn syrup and/or glucose which serve as humectants, coat the sugar particles and stabilize their suspension, and keep the gum flexible, various softeners, food colorings, flavorings, preservatives and other additives.
The homogenized mixture is then poured onto cooling belts, and cooled with cold air. Extrusion, optionally rolling and cutting, and other mechanical shaping operations follow. The chunks of gum are then put aside to set for 24 to 48 hours.
Coated chewing gums then undergo other operations. The chunks are wrapped with optional undercoating for better binding with outer layers then immersed into liquid sugar. The pellets are then colored and coated with a suitable glazing agent, usually a wax.
Non-coated varieties are covered in sweetened marble dust to prevent the wrapper from sticking to the product.
