Child's Lunch
Question: What do you put in your child's lunch box? General Question.
What do you put in your child or children's lunch box for School?
Personally I pack my daughter a sandwich (chicken & salad) and a piece of fruit with a juice popper for lunch, and for recess I usually pack her a yogurt and some crackers and cheese. I always include a bottle of water and a couple of dollars in case she wants to buy herself something from the canteen.
Answer: A sandwich (usually PB & J or chicken salad; no lunch meat *gag*),
fruit crisps or apple sauce or yogurt
Juicy Juice (she has access all day to the water fountain...)
sometimes celery sticks
and either baked chips or crackers.
Question: keeping fruit fresh and not brown in a child's lunch bag? my son is just starting school for the first time and I have to make him a lunch and a snack. Thankfully he loves fruit and vegetables. Is there any way to stop them from going brown and wilting
maybe ice packs will do the job.
Answer: Lemon juice keeps fruit from going brown, but will be messy for a child to carry in his bag. Give him bananas and citrus fruits that won't go brown. There are little yougurt-style pots of fruit sold in supermarkets for lunchboxes, but they are expensive and mean less fruit for the child.
Question: I am looking for a 'insulated plate' for my child's lunch box. Something similar to the mugs.? I have several mugs that she takes soup etc in. But I am looking for a plate that I can fix her a meal in and it stay hot until she eats lunch at school. Does anyone know where I can find one???
Answer: A thermoist? They have them at grocey stores.
Question: What are some different meals I can make for my child's lunch using biscuits?
Answer: Anything you would put on sandwich bread works well on biscuits. You can also top the biscuits with fruit salad and a little yogurt...or make my upside-down chicken pot pies
Upside Down Chicken Pot Pies
3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked (or use the meat from a deli rotisserie chicken)
2 cups chopped mixed veggies ( I like broccoli, carrots, onions, etc), cooked
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 tablespoons sour cream
2 capfuls Mrs Dash seasoning
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer about 10 minutes. Serve on top of split biscuits.
Good luck!
Question: What do you put in your, or your child's lunch? What kind of things do you pack in your lunch, or your children's lunches? How much do you spend a week? My parents give me a $10 bill and whatever lunch things I can buy w/ that + tax I can have as long as they approve. What do you do? Thanks!
Answer: my kids eat healthy always. They eat breakfast and lunch at school. Our schools only serve healthy, nutritious foods.
Question: What do you usually pack in your child's lunch?
Along with the sandwich and juice box, how many other items do you pack for them?
Answer: I am expecting atm but this is what I would put in my 6 year old daughters lunch box..
•A brown bread sandwich cut in two..& a healthy filling turkey & salad or cucumber or tuna.
•A little fruit salad, or just a fruit pear, orange, small bunch of grapes.
•A bottle of icy water.
Question: What do you pack in your child's lunch? For a nutrition class I am taking I must ask at least 10 parents what they send in their children's school lunches. Please be as specific as possible.
Oh, and please tell me what age your children are.
Thanks!
Answer: All you folks who can send PB&J are so lucky! Our school has a nut ban so we can't send PB!
My daughter is 10 here's what she gets:
- wrap with lettuce, chicken, shredded cheese and caesar dressing
- slices of hard cheese (marble cheddar usually)
- some triscuit crackers
- 100% juice, juice box
- milk (school milk program)
- vegetable (carrots or raw beans or celery)
- cookies or small chocolate bar for dessert
- sometimes fruit but she's picky on fruit so it usually has to be strawberries or nothing (but I try!)
The school is on the balanced day program, so they have 2 lunches, that's why the 2 drinks.
Question: What's the best way to clean a child's plastic lunch box without destroying the character sticker? My son uses a plastic Transformers lunch box. Is it safe to wash this in warm soapy water or will the sticker of the Transformers come off or shred?
Answer: I would wipe down with white vinegar and then leave open to air
Question: What would be the best way to store sandwiches for a child's lunch at school?
Answer: If it's something that doesn't have to be chilled, then just wrap it up or put it in a sandwich container. If it needs to be chilled, put it in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack to keep it cold until lunch time.
Question: What kinds of things do you pack for your child's school lunch? My daughter is going to Kindergarten, so I have to start coming up with ideas. I'm ok with the sides, but can't think of anything for the main part of her lunch. Also, can you pack things that need to stay cold, and keep them that way? I got a little ice pack at the store, but I've never actually used one myself. This is all new to me - I appreciate your ideas and suggestions! Can't believe the time has come already...
Answer: My son is in first grade and gets the school lunch now. i find this to be so much easier, and it is a healthy, balanced lunch. In Kindergarten, he had half-day at his school and went to a Kindergarten Enrichment program, where he ate his packed lunch. According to the school, I had to pack at least 2 fruits or vegetable servings, one dairy serving, and a grain serving along with whatever healthy items I choose. I always did a sandwich for the main course. He preferred peanut butter & jelly or salami. I would switch up the breads, sometimes using rolls or buns. For dairy, he liked those yogurt tubes, keep them in the freezer overnight and they thaw in time for lunch; string cheese keeps all day just fine, and you can get the cheddar mozzarella mix ones as well as the good old fashioned kinds. I sent a lot of fruit cups (peaches, mixed fruit, mandarin oranges, cherry delights, a different type of fruit cup each day), raisins, trail mix, yogurt covered raisins, bananas, granola bars, pretzel sticks, goldfish crackers, cheese crackers. For drinks, I did a lot of the 12 oz. Gatorade or Powerades, flavored or vitamin waters, green tea, ect. No little 8 oz juice boxes, they weren't enough to satisfy his thirst and unless it was Juicy Juice it was just high fructose corn syrup anyway. There was to be no potato chips, chocolate, candy, fruit snacks or junk in his lunch. If the food group requirements weren't met, they would replace the food and charge you a pretty penny for it. At first I thought this was insane. Now, I think they started me on a great and healthy habit. I will never pack him junk, a healthy diet makes for a healthy kid. Also, I always sent a special little note in his lunch to brighten his day.
Question: What do you pack in your child's lunch box for school?
Answer: 1. Sandwich (PB&J, Turkey/Cheese, Tuna etc.) [Although they will eat salad or soup]
2. Fruit (Apple, Pear, Orange, Grapes, Strawberries, Mango, Watermelon, etc.)
3. Veggies (Baby Carrots, Green Beans, Red/Yellow Peppers, Broccoli, Cauliflower, etc.) [Sometimes I'll add a small container of veggie dip.
4. Another snack (Cheese stick, yogurt, nuts, raisins, pretzels, apple sauce etc.)
5. Juice Box or Small water bottle
They seem to like it, but we eat very healthy at home, so the kids enjoy healthy food
But every friday as a treat I'll pack them either a few Oreos, chocolate chip cookies, chips or something along the line of that.
Hope this was helpful
Question: 'im not a bad mother if I send my child's lunch in a bag with the liquer store logo on it'...? anyone else seen that comercial lol? anyway what do you think? mothers today, i think, are busier than ever and sometimes the first bad you see/can get your hands on becomes a lunch bag in the midst of morning chaos. Also, what do you think of ppl sending thier kids to daycares? I think it takes a village to raise a child and daycares are perfectly fine - what do you think?
Answer: 1) Unless there is liquor in the bag, no, you're not a bad mother if you send your kid to school with a liquor store logo on it, but others may wonder just what goes on at your house. This question made me laugh.
2) Daycare is fine.
Question: MOM'S of School Age Kids: What do you pack in your child's lunch? Hi.. It's the start of a new school year and I was curious what other mom's are packing in their kids lunches??? Does anyone have any ideas for healthy or unique snacks to send? I don't want to keep packing the same old junk and need new ideas... (mine is 6 years old) - Thanks!!
Answer: Ham sandwich, Sugar free pudding or jello, and an apple or orange. Milk from school.
By the way, I am not a mom. I am the dad with custody of my kids. She is a deadbeat.
Question: Have any of you guys ever put yogurt cups in your child's lunch for school? My daughter has some of the Trix yogurt cups and really wants to take one in her lunch to school tomorrow. I am very picky about expiration dates, how long things have been in or out of the frig etc.... I pack her lunch ar 7:30am and she eats at 10:30am so it would be out of the frig for 3 hours. It doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but seems to be very important to her so I thought I would ask for advice from "the experts" lol. Everyone have a great day and thanks for taking the time to help me out!!!!!

Question: I need ideas for my child's lunch at pre-school? The rules at this pre-school are that it must be vegetarian and/or dairy (no meat, no nuts...no peanut butter, for instance or even cookies/granola bars that were made near a nut!). They are careful about everyone's dietary restrictions and allergies.
He's only 19 months old, so I stick with finger foods. Yogurt and applesauce are hard for him to eat alone with a spoon.
Right now some of the stuff I give him include cheese sandwiches, jelly sandwiches, sliced up grapes, sliced up tomatoes, mac & cheese (that he picks up with his fingers), sliced up peaches, & cheese pizza.
I could slice up pears & apples but I have to dip them in lemon juice to keep them from turning brown.
Any other ideas? Help! :)
Answer: Does he like cottage cheese? Since it's a bit thicker it might be easier to eat with a spoon.
What about beans? They're easy to eat. Plus he'll get some protein. Why aren't they allowed meat?
cream cheese and jelly sandwich
hummus and cheese on pita bread
any fruits that he likes
sweet potatoes
elbows with peas and carrots with butter
animal crackers, graham crackers, goldfish, cheese and crackers
Question: when was the last time you STUCK a love note in your child's lunch bag?
Answer: sry i dont have children, but this reminded me how my mom used to write it on my napkin in like 1st and 2nd grade (: it made me sooo happy lol
