Chronic Diseases
Question: As populations live longer due to medical technologies, the need for managing chronic diseases, associated dis? As populations live longer due to medical technologies, the need for managing chronic diseases, associated disabilities, and mental health issues will increase. Long-term care services can meet those needs in a variety of settings. What are some of the long-term facilities in your community or state? Are there any essential services missing? If yes, what are they? If no, what services
could be improved upon? What other health care services are offered in your community or state that are not long-term care services?
Answer: They are aiming at people preventing chronic illnesses. Those who are in the population of chronic diseases and disabilities are certainly struggling financially and emotionally. I believe that it's a national problem in the U.S. as services provided cost more, insurance companies pay less, and patients must pay more money. It is a vicious cycle. Especially when more and more people avoid necessary physical care, causing complications in their health, because they simply cannot afford it.
There are various national organizations that work towards helping patients get the care the need and deserve, but it's far from perfect, and they'll be the first to tell you that. Just a sad fact of life nowadays. Once you get into the system, things ease up & do help with whatever care is needed. getting to that point is the trick.

Question: Are smallpox and the bubonic plague considered chronic diseases? And what are someother interesting chronic diseases that not many know about?
Answer: well I just looked it up because I wanted make sure I was right, and I found a list of chronic diseases and smallpox and bubonic plague both were not on it. I checked three or four different sites including the CDC and neither smallpox and bubonic plague were on any of them.
Chronic diseases are usually diseases that you end up living with. Some examples are: arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and epilepsy.
The reason why smallpox and bubonic plague are not chronic diseases is because you can get rid of them, and they do not last for a long time. Think of chronic pain, it lasts for a LONG time.
Question: "faiure to thrive" Will those with chronic diseases get medical care in a timely fashion? National Health care = Population Control
"faiure to thrive" is on the death certificate when the deceased was slowly overdosed on morphine, for various reasons.
Will those with chronic diseases get medical care in a timely fashion?
Answer: Yes, they will. And "failure to thrive" describes a condition where everything medically that can be done has been tired and the person still fails to thrive. Sometimes elderly people just plain give up on wanting live and it has nothing to do with overdose of morphine.
Question: what to do when working with children with chronic diseases? I started working as a psychologist at a university hospital just two months ago. I am working in and out patients of pediatrics. The children are mostly patients of hematology, oncology, endocrinology, nephrology, cardiology, and gastro.
I am mostly doing individual interviews with the patients and rarely family interviews but I need more information on what to do with these children of chronic diseases. I feel like I am getting lost. Can you help me with that?
Answer: You "started working as a psychologist" and yet you are asking people here on Yahoo!Answers?
What do you mean by "what to do with these children of chronic diseases"? What is your job description? What is the "result" you are required for your job? Are you making assessment of the children's needs? And what "needs" are you concerned with? Psychological needs? Social adjustment?
I am no psychologist but I think what you are asking is too broad to be successfully answered and even more so, I think you are asking in the wrong place.
Question: What are some chronic medical diseases? I'm looking for chronic medical diseases that are not reeving the insurance coverage or legislative coverage they need. Does anybody know of any such diseases?
Answer: Along the same line many mental diseases/conditions don't have much coverage. There are plenty ranging from epilepsy to narcolepsy.
While these aren't what most people think of when speaking about 'chronic' diseases, they are chronic in the fact that they are long lasting and rarely curable.

Question: Are there any chronic diseases out there worse than HIV? Can anyone think of any STDs or general diseases that are worse than HIV in this day and age? E.g., anything that is incurable and causes a shorter lifespan and can be spread from person to person?(thus said, disorders like "cancer" do not count here, because it cannot be spread sexually or through contact) Or, is HIV one of the worst possible things that you can contract today?
Answer: 70% of cervical cancer is caused by HPV, a sexually transmitted disease. But I can't say that cervical cancer is or is not worse than HIV. Both of them are terrible diseases.
Just FYI - cancer is not a "disorder." Cancer is not communicable, but it is a disease nonetheless.

Question: Dr.Ravi Master says he can cure chronic diseases without medicine? Is it possible? I have happened to see the website:www.brahmadharmasangam.org belongs to Dr. Ravi Master who says most of the chronic diseases are due to negativity and he can cure it without any mordern medicine and operations. He proves it by giving testimony of thousands. Is it to be possible?
Answer: Well, to clarify to everyone... he's treating diseases through the power of prayer. The power of prayer is an interesting thing... research has shown, patients who pray in hospitals are in less pain, less stress, and heal faster. Miraculous healing through power of prayer is a different matter. God has blessed certain people with the Gift. I've had the pleasure to meet two such individuals, one through the medical community, the other through a religious community. The most important thing to remember... these individuals don't heal. God does. Whether that patient is ready to be healed or not is up to Him.
So, do I believe that Dr. Ravi can heal? Is it possible? I say it's possible. Who am I to question God? Besides, what would be the point to challenge such an individual if people are getting better? Especially against a person half way across the world.
Question: What are the causes & effects of chronic diseases?
Answer: well i saw your other question as well the acute one, so am just going to answer both here since they work well together. I believe that chronic means that you have had it, and have issues with it before while acute means that this is it, suddenly bang. I think but that just my guess good luck.

Question: About supplies needed for chronic diseases? Why do they cost so much? Especially strips that some one has to use up to 6 times a day to keep sugar levels under aggressive control and cost about one dollar a strip?
Answer: It's like any other medical supplies - the drug companies swear that the price is justified by the large cost of research and development of new products, but we as consumers are fed up by the high prices.
The link below gives price comparisons between the different brands of test strips. As you can see, there are a couple that are significantly less expensive than the average, although none are less than 50 cents per strip. Check with your doctor to be sure, but it might be a good idea to switch to a meter that is compatible with the lower cost strips. In the long run you could save a lot of money.
