Question: What does eating coconut do for you and what form of coconut do you eat? additionally do you believe that coconut oil is ALL good?
I've become addicted to coconut water- what's that good for besides an energy drink? I've heard about the natural electolytes and the ph balance part. Thanks!
Answer: Rather than me going on a long winded rant about Coconut just go through the links below. My cardiac nutritionist is 'gung-ho' on Coconut oil and doesn't see much drawback to it. The second link gives details on the water. I can see why it'd be considered an energy drink since it's got lots of sugar and salt.
Question: So i just bought coconut oil for the first time and I'm kind of confused? I just bought coconut oil, and from what i've read it should be solid unless it is in a room above 80 degrees.
But in my house it is like 74 degrees or something, and the coconut oil is liquid.
Is something wrong with it? Should i put it in the fridge? This is high quality, organic extra virgin coconut oil.
definitely not like honey. I would say its even thinner than olive oil.
Answer: It is fine. Refrigerate if you like but I like to have mine ready to use, meaning not solid.
Question: How do I remove coconut from the shell? I made the three holes, drained the coconut milk from the coconut. Cracked it open. Now how do I remove the coconut?

Question: How much coconut oil to add to a bottle of shampoo? I have a dry itchy scalp and someone recommended adding coconut oil to shampoo because it works very well. It works like a natural conditioner plus numerous other benefits.
How much coconut oil should I add to the bottle of shampoo?
Coconut oil is added to lots of shampoo because of its benefits. I am using an all natural shampoo because of allergic reactions but basically looking for a 2 in 1 shampoo that will wash & condition my hair by adding the coconut oil.
Answer: DK, but my grandma used that after she shampooed her hair, so lice won't go in her hair, in the tropical island.
Dry itchy scalp is caused from washing in hot water and being out in the sun a lot. Same thing happens to your skin.

Question: Looking for a recipe for homemade coconut ice cream? I am looking for a recipe for homemade coconut ice cream. I have searched on-line and found many that call for coconut cream and shredded coconut. I am looking for one that would be made like vanilla ice cream but with coconut extract.
Answer: this is all i could find.
1 cup milk
1 (14 ounce) can cream of coconut
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 cups sweetened flaked coconut (optional)
Combine the milk and cream of coconut in the container of a food processor or blender, and mix thoroughly. Stir in cream and flaked coconut.
Pour into the container of an ice cream maker, and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Do not confuse sweetened cream of coconut-used in this recipe-with unsweetened coconut milk or cream. The sweetness in this recipe comes from the cream of coconut.
Question: How do you dry and shred coconut? I bought a delicious young coconut and would love to dry and shred the white coconut meat inside for making cookies, etc. (rather than using store bought shredded coconut).
What is the correct way to dry and shred the coconut meat? I have already scooped out the white part into a bowl. Thank you!
Answer: http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/dehydrated-coconut.htm
That's a pretty good technique and very descriptive.
As far as shredding goes, I'd suggest a food processor. Use pulses to shred so you don't get a coconut puree.
Good luck!
Question: What was the initial velocity of the coconut that was thrown upward? An orangutan throws a coconut vertically upward at the foot of a cliff 40m high while his mate simultaneously drops another coconut from the top of the cliff. The two coconuts collide at an altitude of 20m. What was the initial velocity of the coconut that was thrown upward?

Question: Does coconut oil really make your grow faster and thicker? Does coconut oil really make your hair grow faster and thicker? Does coconut oil moisturize your hair? Is it true that coconut oil makes your hair shiny? Has anyone ever tried coconut oil? If so how is it? Does it really work in making your hair grow faster, healthier, shinier and thicker.
Answer: I have previously used coconut oil in my hair. I can't say it made it grow faster and thicker...but it did make it very healthy and soft and shiny. Just put it in before you go to bed. Try to only wash your hair every other day.
Question: How do you crack a coconut open on a deserted island? I know how to do it in my kitchen... but, say you got shipwrecked on a tropical island and you have no tools at your disposal, you're starving to death, and all that's around is coconut trees. How do you crack a coconut open with just what's available without spilling the milk? Is there any survival technique?
Also, how do island dwellers open their coconuts? Do they use specific tools, or do they just use what's available?
Answer: Didn't you guys see the movie Cast Away with Tom Hanks? It's a must see for all of those planning to be marooned on a deserted island. I think you could probably beat a coconut against a rock all day and you won't get very far. First you have to remove the husk. I believe our hero used a shell or rock to cut it with the grain (top to bottom). He then just peeled the husk off (although it did require some effort). Now you're ready to crack that open with a rock and have yourself a little coconut feast.
However, let's not forget about learning how to build a fire and while we're at it we may have to work on our self-dentistry in case we're there for a long time.
In real life I've seen it done with a machete where they just slice the top off.
Question: What is the difference between regular coconut oil and extra virgin coconut oil for your hair? I was told to leave in some coconut oil for a few minutes everyday before getting into the shower to rinse it off. I just want to know what's the difference between regular and extra virgin coconut oil and which one would be more beneficial for my hair.
Answer: By "regular" I'm assuming you mean "pure." Pure is the lowest quality of oil you can buy and is usually a combination of processed oil and virgin oil. Extra virgin is the highest quality. I've used both organic extra virgin coconut oil and pure coconut oil and I know there is a difference. Extra virgin is more moisturizing than the pure and it works better on my hair and skin. You can also consume extra virgin coconut oil because it has health effects. Organic just means that there weren't any harmful chemicals or pesticides used on the coconuts.
If you want the best kind, get extra virgin coconut oil. If you can, get a bottle that's cold-pressed and you'll be in heaven.
Question: can I use coconut extract instead of coconut liquor in a cupcake recipe? It's for the icing and it calls for 1 1/2 tablespoons of coconut liqueor which I cannot find at the store. Can I use the extract and how much if so?
Answer: absolutly.
Question: What are good uses or recipes for raw coconut? I cracked open a couple of coconuts to get the coconut water (delicious) and also removed the white coconut meat from inside.
What are good uses or recipes for the raw coconut? Thank you!!!
Answer: My mother makes a coconut and eggplant curry that is absolutely delicious. It has edamame and chopped peanuts, garlic and onions. Really, any eggplant curry will work, and if you add thinly sliced large pieces of coconut, it adds delicious flavour and texture.
A note to you though, there is a rule with coconuts. If your water is very sweet and delicious, your coconut meat will be flavourless. If your water doesn't have much flavour, the coconut meat will be very tasty. Just keep that in mind when you're cooking and what you're planning on using the coconut for. (If you wanted to bank on the flavour of fresh coconut versus if you were going to cook it with other spices or richly flavoured foods.)
Enjoy!
Question: I have a recipe for coconut cream pie and wondered if I could use cream of coconut rather than half and half? The recipe calls for 3 cups of half and half and reading reviews, other people used 1-1/2 cups half and half and 1-1/2 cups coconut milk and said it turned out better. I couldn't locate coconut milk and found cream of coconut in the liquor department at the grocery store. Could the half and half be "replaced" with cream of coconut, or should I use 1/2 cream of coconut and 1/2 half and half?
Answer: cream of coconut will separate and wont hold up........ i would just use half and half!!!! it is very hard to blend cream of coconut...... you could put ot in the blender but again, it does separate!!! i wouldnt chance it...
