Answer: the abosolute best proven colon cleanser is fiber! even stuff like metamucil does an incredible job! the others add food stuffs, 'super foods' concentrates and vitamins...but as far as cleansing, nothing is better or used by your bod more easily. remember that starving the body in any way makes your metabolism really slow down. if your cleansing to lose weight, your like 98% likely to gain the weight back plus extra!

Answer: they don't. there is no scientific evidence supporting the theory.

Answer: Why do you need to cleanse your colon? There are several products on the market that claim colon health but since these are over the counter thing no clinical studies have been done. Every manufacturer can "hire" a panel of experts to claim their product as a winner. If you suspect something is wrong, go to a doctor and get tested. A colonoscopy procedure is very easy and comfortable. The only discomfort is the laxative that you will have to drink before the procedure but this only for less then a day so you will be able to do it.

Question: Do u really benefit from colon cleansers or body cleansers? I have seen and heard about many colon cleansers from companies like herbalife or GNC. I am wondering though if it does improve your body or if it is just a scam. Can anyone help?

Answer: Well, if you look at the ingredients, you can make your own cleansing formula yourself. They put some Vitamins, fibers from various sources. I can't say colon cleansing is a scam,for I never tried it myself and I don't believe in it. They place stiff price tags in the name of the colon cleansing, IMO. Best approach is to add more fibers in your diet. Food form of fibers are the best and safe. Let the food work naturally to cleanse our clogged up colon.

Answer: "Colon Cleansers" have been debunked as a myth. The icky evacuation they cause, claimed to be the "gunk lining your colon" is actually caused by the so called "cure" and is not in you. Your body "detoxes" itself constantly. Then, just follow this up with a healthy diet with plenty of fiber. Eat rasin bran, cheerios, oatmeal and other whole grain cereals for breakfast. Make sure lunch and dinner are balanced meals. snack on fruits and veggies. Drink fruit juices and teas and avoid soda and coffee. Alcohol should be avoided while detoxing. Taking a good multi-vitamin helps. I've used cleansing teas and things will come out of your body. Do a tea cleanse once a week, it's very gentle, you aren't on the toilet all day. There is no need to buy fancy and/or expensive preparations. Detox tea availible on your supermarket shelf at a reasonable price. Answer: They are not necessary but they have great health benefits if done right. I fast twice a year for ten days, on the 3d day I drink a warm salt water mix until i start pooping, it usually comes out very quickly. And even though I eat healthy and I have not eaten for three days you would be surprised at the stuff that comes out that is just sitting in there. I am not trying to be gross, the point is you would be surprised at how hard it is for our body to get rid of the crap we put in it.

Answer: Note to self: If you use one: 1. Have excellent plumbing. Preferably plumbing that will pull a watermelon down on one flush. 2. Keep a toilet snake handy for chopping up the beast(s) 3. Have a 3-pack of good toilet paper ready (you'll need it) 4. Never be more than 13 steps away from the crapper. 14 steps may be one to many, and one mess that will make you vomit 5. Have an entire day devoted to it the process. You'll go 10-15 times, even when you think your flushed out, there will be more. Go out on a date or run to the store and have an accident, death will look better than the humiliation. You will feel better afterward, for sure. Skip the preparation and you'll be sorry.

Answer: They probably do work but you don't really need them. All you need is plenty of fiber and roughage that you can get from the Mediterranean diet, the Pritikin diet and a vegetarian diet. If you investigate those diets and follow one of them your colon will be very healthy and you won't need an enema or one of those cleanser products.

Question: Do colon cleansers decrease the body's caloric intake? Since colon cleansers act similarly to laxatives, does the body expel undigested calories? Well, duh colon cleansers clean out yer dang colon but since it makes you sh*t so goddamn much, I figured it'd act like a laxative too. So what what? Does it? Yes or no?

Answer: digestion takes place in the stomach and small intestine. Thats why stomach stapling and partial removal of small intestine causes weight loss. by the time food gets to the colon, it is waste product being moved out of the body. EDIT; There may be undigested calories in the poop. Not every bit of any food is digestible, thats why there IS poop after you eat. A colon cleanse may well cause the body to expel undigested calories along with undigested nutrients as well.

Answer: Colon cleansers are a good solution for problems such as constipation and IBS. As they are designed to get rid of waste in the body they DO reduce bloating however they are NOT a weight loss product and I wouldn't recommend that you use them as such.

Question: Does the fiber in colon cleansers make you never hungry? I am doing a colon cleanse which has a lot of fiber in it 6 grams per dose x 2 per day. The fiber comes from phyllium husk (I just started today) and I am never hungry. It's kind of weird. I typically eat around 1,500-2,000 calories every day, but this colon cleanse thing is throwing that off. Has anyone else had this experience when you eat a lot of fiber? and what should I do?

Answer: yep, the fiber will give you that fullness feeling. however it doesn't last forever. eventually the fiber does its job - cleansing the colon and well now that you're probably feeling more relieved you're probably be wanting to replace it with food. ♂ ♀
