Creatine Powder
Question: How does creatine powder work inside your body? people use creatine powder to help them work out harder and longer for muscle building. but how does it help you do so? is it related to the creatine-phosphate in your cells that replenish ATP or is the name just a coincidence?
Answer: You've got it!!!... creatine is the body's short term/immediate supply of energy. So when you take your creatine drink, your essentially providing your muscle cells with a larger store of phospho-creatine. In theory this should help your muscles "work harder" and not fatigue as quickly, because they are now less dependent on cellular respiration (takes time to get the energy).
Question: What is better creatine pills or creatine powder? Im a 16 year old male and i havnt taken supplements before and am considering taking creatine. what is better pills or powder?
Answer: Hi, there. First off, creatine is a very safe and effective supplement--It is the most reasearched one and many professional athletes use creatine. You definately don't want to take steroids! Creatine has no negative effects, unless you don't drink water. You must drink approx. 4L of water day. And cylce creatine 6 weeks on 2 weeks off. I also recommend taking a whey protien supplement to maximize results. I am 19 now and i have been using creatine since 15! The results are amazing. Now to answer your specific question all people think that pills are more expensive than powder because pills are more convinient to take.. That's all wrong! Creatine "powder" is creatine monohydrate. Taking this creatine will give you a more puffy full look! Creatine pills (Kre-Alkalyn) give you a more hard and toned look. Personally i use monohydrate but its all up to you on what you want to use!
Hope this helps
Question: Can I put creatine powder in hot food and drinks? If I put creatine powder in hot food, say a bowl of ravioli after I've heated it. Will that affect the creatine at all?
Answer: definetly not...heating creatine will cause it to break down into creatinine faster.
* I test nutritional supplements for various leading manufactures
Question: If you take creatine powder and protein powders how often should they be taken? If you take creatine powder and protein powders how often should they be taken? I have heard one gram per body wieght on protein but what is a good rule of thumb to go by when taking these supplements? please post...
Answer: I have heard the gram-per-pound rule too--you should consume about 1/2 of that. Better still, use the government's recommended 46 or 56 grams a day respectively, women or men. I have also read that single simple protein requirement hasn't really been figured out by the experts--it's just isn't that simple.
The amount of other nutrients affect the amount of protein one would ingest. Instead of all protein, it's good to have 1/3 fat, 1/3 starch. The ratio can vary. Also, the amount of exercise affects the amount of food(including protein) one needs.
Here's a suggestion for a more natural approach to proteins:
1. Subtract the protein you get from your regular food, and just take supplements for the shortfall.
2. Increase the proteins (and amino acids) in your meals until you don't need supplements.
3. Use as much plant protein(nuts, beans, etc.) as practical; before using meat to reach your goal. The will allow you to avoid fats, especially triglycerides and the bad cholesterols.
4. Keep studying nutrition; don't stop at a rule-of-thumb for protein consumption.
Note: creatine is not an essential nutrient, as it is manufactured in the human body.
Question: If i mix creatine powder into a water bottle, how long can i keep it in the bottle? If i mix my creatine powder into a water bottle before school, will it still have the creatine and the effects in the water by the time i get to my Strength Training class? Or will it lose the effects or something while it sits in my water bottle. Because i have to mix it before i go to school, i do not have time to do it before my class.
Answer: should drink creatine before 10 minutes after mixing. If not it'll just start turning into creatinine which is creatines waste product. I usually put a scoop in a plastic bag and carry it with me

Question: Is creatine powder the right way to go? I'm 17, 5'8 and around 11 stone. I have been wanting to get into rugby and my friends have advised me to put on weight. I go to the gym around 4 times a week and was wondering if creatine powder actually works and will help me put on weight. Cheers
Answer: no, it's not. Creatine adds water muscle, not flesh muscle, great for body builders that want easy to define, big quick muscles. Rugby players on the other hand need more explosive power than size. Look at Shane Williams! You don't need to gain weight, just join a local team. If you can run and tackle thats all you need. If you can sprint at all they'll use you as a back. If you need any advise on technique on tackling or workout routines, email me.
Question: Why do some creatine powder require "packing" and not others? i just got Met-rx hardcore creatine powder, and it just says take one scoop a day. i have read on others to "pack" 4-5 times a day for a couple weeks? should i pack with this product, of follow its directions? why do some and why dont some pack?
thanks fred d
Answer: its called a loading phase. with pure creatine monohydrate or ethyl ester, you have to saturate your muscles with it for the first 5 days or so and then start with the maintenence stage. other creatines like cell mass have special fromulations where u dont need to load. pure monohydrate is by far the best. take just as it says for the best results.
Question: is the creatine monohydrate contained in whey protein shakes the same as takeing creatine powder? i bought a container of whey protein powder and i was reading the other ingrediants and it contains "creatine monohydrate". Is this the same as takeing creatine powder because if so i dont want it cus ive heard nothing but bad things about creatine. I want to actually build my mucsles and not fill them with water. Why is the creatine monohydrate in the whey protein?!?!
Answer: It should be about the same thing. It's just a marketing gimmick. Creatine is so cheap, that Manufacturers (MFG) put it in their protein as a selling point. Here's what I use for gaining muscle mass in order of what works best for me.
Whey Protein
AAKG (arginine)
Glutamine
Creatine (if I feel like it)
I eat so much red meat that my body is usually maxed out on creatine. This has been confirmed by my Doc with blood test.
Question: How do you get a stain from creatine powder out of a cotton shirt? My boyfriend spilled some of his fruit-punch flavored creatine mix on his white cotton shirt. This stuff is almost pure protein, but it's bright pink. Any ideas?
Answer: Stains in clothing are frustrating and often expensive to remove. Successful stain removal hinges on the origin of the stain, the fabric the clothes are made of and how long the stain has set. However there are some tried and true general stain removal techniques for getting stains out of clothing and a few techniques for specialty and delicate fabrics.
General Stain Removal
Step 1
Combine 1 cup of powdered detergent with color-safe bleach, 1 cup dishwashing soap and boiling water into a tub large enough to submerge the garment. Stir until they dissolve (or mostly dissolve).
Step 2
Submerge the stained garment in the tub and let it soak.
Step 3
Check the garment periodically and continue soaking until the stain is gone.
Step 4
Wring out the garment and wash it as you normally would.
* Specific Stain Removal
Step 1
Eliminate stains from silk. Mix 2 quarts cold water, 2 teaspoons white vinegar and 1/2 cup of any mild detergent. Rinse the garment in the mixture and then rinse again in clear water.
Step 2
Remove hair dye from clothes. Soak the stained fabric in a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and detergent. Soak the stain in a mixture of equal parts bleach and hydrogen peroxide.
Step 3
Soak an ink stain thoroughly with hair spray and then let the hair spray dry. Brush the stain with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar. Rinse with clean water.
Step 4
Eliminate water and salt stains from leather clothing. Blot the stain with white vinegar.
* Mystery Stain Removal
Step 1
Eliminate oily stains. Mix water and sugar into a paste. Rub the paste into the stain and let the paste set. Wash as normal.
Step 2
Clean non-oily stains. Combine 1 tsp. white vinegar, 1 tsp. liquid detergent and 1 pint lukewarm water. Apply the mixture to the stain and let it soak until the stain is gone. Wash as normal.
Step 3
Erase the yellowing of wool and linen from any source. Mix 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1 gallon of water. Soak the garment until the stain is gone and wash as usual.
Question: what is the best creatine powder? My boyfriend has been working out for about a year and hasn't gotten any bigger. I told him he might want to try creatine powder so that his muscles can get bigger. ANy suggestions on which one you think is the best?
Answer: Pure Creatine monohydrate powder (Optimum Nutrition, Primaforce, Prolab) is the most popular, its practically tasteless and changes should be noticeable within the first week (load at 15g per day for the first 5-7 days spread throughout the day, then after the first week decrease to 5g a day).
However, I don't think Creatine is the answer to him not getting bigger, its his diet.
Getting bigger and gaining weight is all about eating more calories than you are burning. Find out your maintenance calories (# calories that you eat to not gain or lose weight) and eat more calories. There are 3500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 calories over maintenance you'll gain 1lb per week.
I've seen people bulk at 15-20x their body weight. But work your way upwards in calories until you are satisfied with progress. If you think you are putting on too much fat slowly cut down calories or (if you are brave) add in some cardio sessions.
Question: What is the best drink to mix creatine powder in? Im getting NOXplode today, and i wanna find a drink that this stuff can actually dissolve in.....cuz creatine usually settles at the bottom, and im sure that the NOXplode will act similar to creatine. Is there any drink out there that this stuff dissolves better in?
How about vitamin water? The grape kind (formula 50) with Grape NoXplode?
Answer: When I was lifting I would use EAS creatine, and it worked great. But I'm gonna tell you the best way to consume it. Your not gonna like it at first, but you will get used to it. OK, get your glass of juice ready. The juice is used as a chaser. Fill a tablespoon full of the powder and tip spoon with dry creatin into your mouth. Now chase it with your drink. Wow now look at bottom of the glass. Yep you got it, no exspensive waisted creatine in the bottom of your glass. Just keep swishing juice until your mouth doesn't feel grainy anymore. But you will save of few spoonfulls out of the container in the long run and won't be rinsing your cash out of the bottom of the glass. I've tried everything and that stuff doesn't disolve well in anything. Your best bet is to eat it straight.
