Deficient
Question: Can a stuffy nose mean your deficient in something when your a vegetarian? Ever since I become a vegetarian (2 and a half month ago) i've had a slight stuffy nose (sometimes unnoticable). I've never had allergies or anything. I'm I deficient in something? I try my best to get all type of protein and vitamins.
Answer: No, deficiences as a rule do not show themselves through itchy noses. Could be a new allergy or something like it, but might you have hay fever, or are sensitive to pollen or the like? Would time about right with summer coming into season, and can be sudden onset one summer with no symptoms from any previous summers.
Might be worth checking out by doctor or the like for peace of mind.
Question: How long does it take to become b12 deficient if youve jsut became a vegan? I do have a supplemnt but i i forgot to take it the past 2 weeks. am i b12 deficient now
Answer: Maybe you never will be B12 deficient.
Bacteria in the intestines make B12. The body also stores B12. Some people are more likely to have B12 deficiency than others, especially if they lack a particular glycoprotein called Instrinsic Factor.
Many vegans will never need a B12 supplement, but it's probably a good idea just in case.

A cataract is a clouding that develops in the crystalline lens of the eye or in its envelope, varying in degree from slight to complete opacity and obstructing the passage of light. Early in the development of age-related cataract the power of the lens may be increased, causing near-sightedness (myopia), and the gradual yellowing and opacification of the lens may reduce the perception of blue colours. Cataracts typically progress slowly to cause vision loss and are potentially blinding if untreated.

Question: How many bridges are structurally deficient in the USA? As stated by the U.S. Department of Transportation's inspector general last year criticized the Federal Highway Administration's oversight of interstate bridges, saying investigators found incorrect or outdated maximum weight limit calculations and weight limit postings in the National Bridge Inventory and in states' bridge databases.
Incorrect load ratings could endanger bridges by allowing heavier vehicles to cross than should be allowed, the inspector general said. The audit didn't identify any Minnesota bridges beyond noting that 3 percent of the state's bridges were structurally deficient, placing it at the low end among states.
Answer: A great many more than the Department of Transportation would be willing to admit, I'm sure.
Question: Does HGH actually make you grow taller if your not deficient? I've searched everywhere for this answer and i haven't been able to find it.
Does HGH actually make you grow taller if your not deficient?
Does it speed up the process so your growth plates fuse earlier?
Answer: As long as your growth plates have not yet ossified, HGH will make you taller. It doesn't matter if you're deficient or not.
No doctor is going to prescribe it to you, though, if that's what you're thinking. It's very expensive ($20-$30K a year) and they'll only give it to teens younger than 15 with a projected adult height of 5'3" or less for males and 4'10" and under for females.
Question: how can you be deficient in vitamin D but OK in calcium? I found out I am deficient in Vitamin D but my Calcium levels are in normal range. How is this possible? I thought the two go hand in hand. Shouldnt I also be deficient in Calcium as well?
Answer: Easy! We get most of our vitamin from the food we eat. So you might of had lots of Vitamin D in the past in which case your uptake of other vitamins are normal. However, one week you missed Vitamin D had a blood test and it revealed you are deficient. They have a table of the Recommended Daily Allowance on Vitamins, so if your D intake is low, you might have enough to keep the Calcium going, but it will register low or deficient in the test. Very few foods in nature contain vitamin D. The flesh of fish (such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel) and fish liver oils are among the best sources. Small amounts of vitamin D are found in beef liver, cheese, and egg yolks. Vitamin D in these foods is primarily in the form of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and its metabolite 25(OH)D3. Some mushrooms provide vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) in variable amounts. Then you have the Sun! We only absorbe 10% of the calcium in our diet. Among the factors that influence calcium absorption are three major reglators of calcium metabolism in the body. The parathyroid glands produce
a hormone (PTH) which moves calcium from the bones into the bloodstream. It also signals the kidneys conserve calcium and other minerals from the urine.
Additionally, PTH signals the kidneys to produce calcitrol, which is
formed from vitamin D, and which signals the small intestine to absorb more calcium. The thyroid gland secretes calcitonin, which increases bone mineralization, and decreases the rate at which the bone is broken down.
So it could be that the other factors in the body are stabilizing the Calcium, stop you from excreating it in the urine, putting it into the bone, or breaking down the bone back into the blood, but this system is working, except it has not been relying on Vitamin D.

Question: Is there something deficient about the blu ray player on the PS3? It just seems too good to be true.
So you can purchase a PS3 with a blu ray player for 400. Yet, to buy a blu ray player individually, you would have to pay 400-600.
Is the blu ray player on the PS3 deficient?
Answer: To my knowledge, there are no issues with the Blu-ray disc player on the PS3. In fact, the PS3 has generally been acclaimed as a very decent Blu-ray player, and great for value.
Sony has been using the PS3 as a platform to promote the Blu-ray disc as next-gen format. As a result, until this year, Sony actually was performing at a loss/break-even in terms of profit for the PS3 division (as a result of the 'low' pricing). Supposedly they have started entering the profit band now since manufacturing costs have come down (cheaper Blu-ray & cell production, no more emotion chip needed, etc.).
Certainly, the PS3 is not a dedicated Blu-ray player, so some of the specialized players you buy may offer some customization and adjustments you can't find on the PS3. But in terms of playback, there should be absolutely no issues with the PS3.
The PS3 is being promoted as not just a gaming system, but as a full-fledged home media entertainment system. Because of this, in addition to Blu-ray, the PS3 includes capabilities to play DVDs, CDs, SACDs, and various PC media formats like mp3s, avis, mpgs as if it were an HTPC, so you should expect it will play Blu-rays as well as any other player.

Question: Do babies that eat wall paint chips know they are calcium deficient? My mother-in-law says that she used to eat pieces of chipped wall when young and that was because her little body knew she was calcium deficient. So today when my baby (13 month old) tried to taste a piece of fallen, chipped wall paint, I was horrified, and my husband told me what his mom had said. I thought that was the most ridiculous thing ever. He believed it, because HIS MOM told him so. Has anyone ever heard about this? Is there truth in it or just somebody justifying a eating disorder?
Answer: That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life. Eating paint chips can cause LEAD POISONING! Eating dirt is a sign in very young children that they could have a vitamin deficiency. Not paint chips. Keep your child aware from the paint chips at all costs.
Question: Are republicans smearing Obama on here as deficient as they seem to be? mentally deficient I mean?
I think its impossible that this many people can be that ignorant.
I think most of them are only pretending to be.
Answer: I can say the same about Obama supporters... from what I have seen, they are the most uninformed voters in decades, yet they believe they are intelligent. It is quite sad. Good luck getting jobs when you elect Obama as the next president and your tax rate increases when the Bush tax cut expires. The poor will be poorer because Obama bases his decisions on principle not logic...
