Degree Fitness Nutrition Online
Question: Do you know any good school offering online degree in nutrition? Hi, I'm planning to switch from being a software engineer to fitness trainer. I'm planning to take the necessary certification but I would also like to have a formal education in nutrition.I'm currently working abroad and considering studying online because I have to keep my job for the meantime. (I'm not a US citizen)
Any advice?
Thank you.

Question: Going back to school...? I graduated from college a year ago with a BS in Child Studies. While in college I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life and thought that I would enjoy being a teacher. I would also be receiving a full scholarship if I chose this career. I have come to the realization that I don't want to be a teacher... at least not a school teacher. My passion has always been in fitness. I want to be a personal trainer and I KNOW this will make me happy. However, I want to go back to school to get a degree in an exercise/nutrition related field. I KNOW I don't need a college degree to become a personal trainer, I can just take one of the online certification courses BUT I really want a college degree in this field. What are my options? Will the university where I earned my first bachelors degree allow me to go for a second or is there a masters program I can get into even though my education courses have zero to do with a fitness degree? I'm confused and don't know what to do. Any advice?
Answer: go with your passion...you won't be regretful later in life...I would seek advice from the college you would want to go with...if you have the prereq's for a MS program in exer/nutrition go for it...perhaps using some of your credits earned for your BS you could apply them toward another BS in Nutrition/exercise program and complete that in two years....talk to schools and find out your options....good luck
Question: I know he's the one. Need thoughts from married people. What do you think? What next? I'm 29 and he's 37. We work in different departments. I have never dated a co-worker but the way I feel about him goes beyond any emotion I have ever felt. I have had crushes on co-workers but as I started to get to know him I started thinking about the future.
My closest friends have noticed that I talk about him beyond a simple crush. He has become one of my dearest friends but I'm afraid of asking him how he feels. I know he's the one. I need some thoughts from married people out there.
Positives:
1) Time flies when we talk. During a work happy hour people started leaving after 2 hours and we ended up the last ones to go home and we stayed an extra 4 hours just talking about nothing and everything. We were shocked when we noticed the time.
2) We have the same unique interests: literature, obscure tv shows, foreign films, political views. I feel I never have to dumb myself down around him (not that I'm Einstein!). I mean I never have to resort to small talk like weather, sports, lunch special of the day. We finish each others’ sentences often
3) For the first time in my life weekends go by slow and the work week goes by so FAST
4) Same values in work ethic, spirituality and family
5) As friends we completely trust each other from secrets to having each other's back.
6) Just when I accepted that no man will ever meet my expectations, he completely surprises me. He has said I'm the first girl he has talked to who matches his interests
Negatives:
1) We work together! Different departments & different rooms, but still! 65 in staff & need to avoid being subject of gossip
2) Age difference seems to be an issue (8 3/4 yrs) as he had often joked 'I'm nearly a decade older than you!'
3) He has a long dating history while I can still count the number of relationships I've had with one hand. I even thought he was a serial dater when I first met him because of how many dates he had in a single year. He also just ended a relationship 3 months ago while my last boyfriend was 3+ years ago. He once traveled out of the country to a woman he met online because he thought she was it. He has had two previous live-in girlfriends. He's no Casanova but he has proved he's a commitment-phobe. With this history of dating, it leads to #4
4) No initiative. He never calls me, I always call him. I always have to ask if he wants to do anything from lunch to outings. Granted we are both deathly shy people in public, but with that dating history, wouldn't he ask me out the moment he noticed we have the same interests?
5) Financial: Both hit road blocks living paycheck to paycheck
6) Health - but I can overlook to a degree: I'm a health nut that values nutrition & fitness due to family history of obesity, cancer & diabetes. I always have my annual doctor’s checkup. I make sure I sleep well & limit alcohol. He eats garbage, drinks fairly heavily & doesn't remember the last time he has had any doctor or dental exam even though he tells me big health issues run in his family.
7) Stuck in the friend zone. Always side-stepping THE TALK. I don't want to ruin our awesome friendship
So what next? I have always asked guys out and when the relationships ended, the main argument was "You're the one who asked me out, I was never that interested."
I don't want a friendship with benefits. We have never kissed, hugged or held hands. Honestly we have never even touched each other. I try to make sure we are always in a group by inviting others along but the forces of nature somehow bring us together alone.
I wish I can talk to people he knows but I can NOT bring this up to co-workers and I never met his friends.
My friends once brushed off my questions and feelings about my past men. This is the first time they are engaged in the goings-on of my situation and (other than a few movie, concert and super-casual food outings together,) we have NEVER been on a date! They are calling me a real Jane Austen novel and continually ask about "The new chapter". My friends say this could be new territory for him too.
I have heard from great married couples their relationships started so easily. Granted he is the easiest friendship with a man I have ever started, but this has been the HARDEST relationship to ever start. (Sorry - I could be in much worse situations I know.)
In the 2.5 years we worked together, I started liking him last 7 months. True feelings in the last 5 months. Should I just keep waiting? Is he waiting for my move? What do you think? What next?
Answer: He may not think he has a chance because of the age difference. It's hard to tell if he has feelings beyond a work relationship. He may also not make a move because it may put his job in jeopardy. Sexual Harassment is no laughing matter, and in this economy, you don't rock the boat or take chances of losing a job.
You could wait, but I don't think he's going to make a move. You need to find a way to talk with him outside of work. See if he reacts differently away from work.

WASHINGTON - The influenza vaccine given to Americans may not protect as well as expected, U.S. health officials said on Friday as the number of flu cases increased nationwide.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said slightly more than half of the influenza virus strains reported to its surveillance system are not good matches against the strains included in this flu season’s vaccine.
The number of states reporting widespread flu activity jumped to 31 this week compared with 11 a week ago, the CDC said. But Dr. Joe Bresee of the CDC’s influenza division said there are no indications this flu season is worse than usual.

“Seasonal flu activity was slow to start this year but has increased sharply in recent weeks,” Bresee told reporters.
One measure officials use to gauge the severity of the season is the number of flu-related child deaths. Bresee said the CDC has heard of six U.S. children who have died from the flu, a relatively low number compared with recent years.
Flu viruses mutate and change all the time, so every year a different vaccine is created as officials predict which particular strains will circulate.
The vaccine is designed to protect against three influenza strains — two from Type A, an H1N1 and an H3N2 version, and one for Type B.
Bresee said about 30 percent of the overall strains of influenza in the United States may be a Type A strain that emerged in Australia called H3N2 A/Brisbane. It emerged too late to be included in the flu vaccine offered in the United States beginning in September and October.
The Type B strain chosen for this year’s vaccine also was not a good match for most of the B virus strains seen in the United States this flu season, Bresee said.
“While a less-than-ideal virus match between the viruses in the vaccine and those circulating viruses can reduce vaccine effectiveness, we know from past influenza studies that the vaccine can still protect enough to make illness milder or prevent flu-related complications,” Bresee said.

Bresee noted that decisions on the composition of the annual vaccine are made about nine months before it is made available to the public in the fall, and it is sometimes hard to know that far in advance which strains will circulate.
Flu vaccines take months to make.
Bresee also said some resistance is being reported to the antiviral drug Tamiflu, made by Switzerland’s Roche Holding AG and Gilead Sciences Inc of the United States. Of the viruses tested in CDC flu labs, 4.5 percent are resistant to the drug, Bresee said.
Influenza kills an estimated 36,000 Americans in an average year, and puts 200,000 into the hospital, the CDC said.

Answer: sometimes taking a flu shots give you the flu anyhow because of the pain and the liquid that is inside of it cause some people body's don't like the feel of pain that they get sick from it so i personally don't take any flu shots although they say that it is good and i don't take any for the simple fact that i know i will get sick just by the shot alone
