Detoxification
Question: detoxification? How long does it take to detoxify your body of toxins (like by doing one of those diets) and how do you know when you are fully detoxed?
Answer: Different types of detoxification processes take different times and also it depends what part of ur body u wanna detox.
The process of foot patches will take 5 days,
Heavy metals detox will take about 2 months,
There's another whereas u go on a special diet that rids ur body of mucoid plaque, that is built up in ur intestines over the years, that will take about 10 days.
Depends which way u wanna go and what u wanna detox.
If u have a healthy balanced diet, u need not worry too much unless u were exposed to heavy pollution, constant inhalation of hydrocarbons, smoking, accidentally swallowed some toxic substances, eating unhealthily, have too much silver fillings in ur mouth, so, it depends what u wanna detox.
Question: What is the best method for body detoxification? This is not for passing a drug test.
I'm about to start an excersise regimen and wanted to detox my body first.
What brands/ways of detoxification do you reccommend. Quality sources appreciated!
Answer: I just started using the foot detox patches--they are amazing. They pull you toxins thru the bottom of your feet. Takara make the one "as seen on TV"
Question: What is the difference between “social” and “medical” detoxification? What is the difference between “social” and “medical” detoxification?
Answer: social detoxification is like a group support meaning social support for patients whose intoxication and/or withdrawal is sufficient to warrant 24-hour support.
Medical detoxification is when the toxication is less severe and thus the "healing" is done under medical supervision. Like under the care of a physicain.
I hope this helps
Question: How many days would I need to fast for body detoxification? I want to detoxify by doing a juice fast, how many days would detoxification take? Is there a way to properly fast? Is a juice fast better than a water fast?
Answer: Your liver, kidneys and colon detox your body just fine without fasting or special teas or any of that stuff. The body is an efficient self cleaning mechanism.
Fasting is an individual experience. Some take nothing but water. Some allow a little bread. Some drink a little juice or tea. It is totally up to you to decide what you will or will not eat/drink when you fast or how long you choose to fast.
Question: Is it good to detoxify? If so, what detoxification supplement can be taken? I have heard a lot of people talking about detoxifying their body. Is it good to that? Is there something better one can do to feel energized and healthy? If detoxifying the body is good to do, what is the best detoxification process to take? Please help me and thank you.
Answer: Detoxing your body is a great thing to do if you have been abusing it. That doesn't have to mean lots of alcohol or drugs, just that you have been loading it up with more toxins than your body can handle. You also need to consider whether you spend a lot of your time in a toxic environment - big cities, lots of exhaust fumes, industries near where you live pumping out crap into the air you breathe, contaminated drinking water ...
The body uses the liver and kidneys in particular to process and eliminate toxins. Too much and these organs cannot cope, so your body stores them in fat.
I've never taken supplements to detox, although I have friends and relatives who have used them and agree they help. Metagenics is the brand that they use, and they provide you with a booklet giving you a program and diet to follow.
You can, however, detox just by changing your diet for about 6 weeks. If you want detailed info Dr Sandra Cabot wrote two books for the Liver and Bowel Cleansing diet, including plenty of recipes.
As a start, here is what a general detox diet looks like:
- Eliminate wheat and dairy
- Eliminate gluten - rice, millet, tapioca, soy products are okay
- Eat only fish and chicken as meat products, but not tuna, and try to get organic chicken or at least chicken that has not been fed hormones or treated with a lot of chemicals
- Avoid peanuts, but almonds are very good
- Eat eggs, chickpeas, and other legumes to keep your protein up
- Avoid tinned and other highly processed foods
- Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, but not bananas, and keep fruit to 2 or 3 pieces a day
- Avoid cane sugar, use substitutes such as fructose or concentrated apple juice
- Drink plenty of water to help flush out the toxins, try for filtered or natural spring water
- No caffeine, and FYI green tea has caffeine in it
- No alcohol, cigarettes, or other manufactured pharmaceuticals
There is nothing wrong with taking on this diet anyway, even if you are not detoxing. I have found that I feel lighter after a meal and have more energy overall.
To make sticking to the diet easier, I allow myself to have a meal a week where I don't worry about the diet.
To find recipes, you can search on google, particularly good are gluten free recipes - it's amazing how many foods and products contain gluten.
As for detox diets that identify a few specific foods or products that will perform the detox alone, without any change to your diet, I haven't tried any. I have my doubts that it is that simple.
You can also take the detox diet a step further and eliminate all animal products. If you are going to try that method, then you need to be very careful to ensure that you have enough protein in your diet. It means you will need to eat a lot of legumes and nuts as substitutes.
Good luck.
Question: How does body detoxification work? I'm not looking into it for weight loss like a majority of people are but I've started taking an interest in body detoxification. I know there's this one yoga detox recipe that's been working for years but I need more information about this.
I don't want to know about the pills and products I just want to know about the actual detoxification.
Stop advertising your crap to me. I just want to know about how body detox works.
Answer: Detoxification is a fancy word for cleaning your blood. There are many programs available to help, but your body actually has its own way dealing with toxins. There are two major systems involved with detoxification: anti-oxidation, and the detoxification process in the liver.
Oxidation is best illustrated by looking at rust, which is a reaction of metal to oxygen. When free radicals come in contact with the body, oxidation can occur. Oxidation causes all kinds of problems, such as allergies and certain types of sickness. The body has a natural anti-oxidation system which includes vitamins such as C, E, B2, bioflavonoid, beta-carotene and other substances to prevent oxidation. Oxidation occurs at the cellular level, so detox must occur there as well. Any deficiency of these in the diet causes problems removing toxins.
What a good full body detox does is also remove impurities from the blood through the liver. The liver is an important organ, and is where toxins are processed. The body also uses other organs such as kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymph nodes and skin to remove toxins. Most toxins are not water-soluble. When toxins enter the liver, two groups of enzymes break down the toxins into water-soluble substances to be excreted via the kidneys and other organs. When this system is not functioning properly, toxins can go unfiltered and your whole body suffers.
There are several ways a body detox program boosts your body’s clearing of toxins. Fasting for a short period of time is usually part of any full body detox. When you fast, your organs rest. This gives them time to rejuvenate themselves and assist with the cleansing. In addition to fasting, a good detox program will stimulate the liver to eliminate common toxins from your body the way it should have been doing all along. This also extends to elimination through the skin, kidneys and intestines.
Circulation is always a big part of any natural body detox. Boosting circulation of the blood through exercise, deep breathing, and other means helps toxins be carried quickly out of the bloodstream. The simple act of breathing deeply brings more oxygen to your blood, thereby allowing for faster elimination of toxins. Even though oxygen contributes to oxidation, lack of oxygen can also cause serious problems. Blood flow helps push more blood through the liver, allowing more toxin removal.
Diet is another major component of a body detox program. It is important to get rid of any toxins in the diet. It is usually necessary to cut out all sugar, caffeine, nicotine and other harmful chemicals from your body. This is one of the most important components, and it is helpful to continue giving your body nutrients even after your program is complete.
Abstaining from using certain chemicals also aids in toxin removal. Free radicals come from many household products. Perfumes, shampoos, household cleaners, sunscreens, and much more all contain toxins that get stuck in your body if there is no way to eliminate it. This is why abstinence and diet are two important ways to keep your body cleansed.
Question: Is Swedish Bitters best for detoxification. How does it work and how do toxins even get to the body? Would detoxification be required if the liver functions well?
Answer: In today's increasingly toxic world I think it is important to make sure that your liver is maintained in optimum health, though someone who is sure they have a healthy liver need not go overboard. The liver is the body's natural oil filter, so to speak, and there are toxins in the air we breathe, water we drink and food we eat which will end up being processed and removed via the liver. Today's toxic environment may be more than the liver can handle, especially when one does not eat a healthy diet with minimum junk and processed foods and live a healthy lifestyle. Most illness and virtually all cancer is accompanied by an impaired liver.
I have never used Swedish Bitters, however I can tell you a few good tips for keeping the liver in optimum health and the body detoxed:
Alpha lipoic acid, milk thistle and selenium all help protect the liver and milk thistle helps the liver regenerate. Milk thistle has also been shown to help protect against alcohol damage to the liver and help reverse it when it does happen, as is stated by the German E Commission (the equivalent of our FDA)..
Turmeric is a good liver protector with many other health benefits, including helping protect against cancer. It also helps keep the bile ducts open and flowing to insure proper toxin elimination.
Likewise, coconut oil and beetroot juice help keep the bile ducts open - and coconut oil is an extremely healthy oil in many, many ways. Parasites hate it and it helps prevent and eliminate candida.
For overalll detoxing:
Parsley. cilantro and chlorella all help remove mercury and other heavy metals.
An occasional one day fast where you eat nothing but either watermelon or dark seeded grapes (eat the seeds too) will help keep your colon and digestive system cleansed - and watermelon is wonderful for cleansing the kidneys and preventing the formation of kidney stones.
There are many other items one might also do, but those are what I do.
All the best!
Question: I have cold symptoms and severe headache caused by detoxification and want to know how long it will last? I've been on a detox diet for a week now and i heard the symptoms of detoxification are bad, but mine are real uncomfortable. i want to know how long to expect these symptoms for.
Answer: Good luck with your detoxification. It will last as long as you have anything in your system. It usually takes a few weeks to be really cleansed. Hang in there. It will get better.
Question: For people who have undergone detoxification: Is it normal to experience thinning hair during and after detox? I'm not talking about dialysis or any other conventional detox. I'm referring to detox drinks / solution.
Thank you.
Answer: If you noticed increased hair loss immediately after whatever you took for detoxing, it could well be a result, probably temporary, of vitamins and minerals essential for hair health being removed by the detox product and process. Hair loss frequently occurs when a person has inadequate B vitamins - especially B6, biotin, inositol and folic acid; and the minerals magnesium, sulfur and zinc. The B vitamins, especially B5 (pantothenic acid and B3 (niacin), are especially important for hair growth.
A healthy diet and possibly the addition of a good whole foods derived multi-vitamin and mineral product and/or a good Vitamin B-Complex product may reverse your hair loss if it is due to nutrient depletion. If that does not work, see a doctor to find out what is going on.
The product you took may or may not be of much use, but do not listen to those who say toxins are "made up". Since the turn of last century we have introduced almost 100,000 chemical compounds previously not found in nature into our environment. Only about 1000 of them have been studied for safety and many of those which were studied have been proven to be harmful, including carcinogens. Many of our environmental toxins such as the heavy metals can accumulate in the body and are not easily eliminated through the body's natural detoxification process. Yes, there are a lot of detox and cleansing scam products out there, but that does not mean that the idea of detoxing and cleansing is not a valuable one.
Instead of spending your money on commercial detox products, consider using items such as parsley, chlorella and cilantro to remove heavy metals and an occasional one day fast where you consume nothing but water, or watermelon or dark grapes with seeds. Doing that and eating lots of good raw vegetables and fruits and other fiber should help you stay plenty cleansed.
All the best!
Question: What and who should be involved in addiction treatments like heroin detoxification for it to be successful? I happen to have a cousin who is planning to undergo such treatment. Please help me.
Answer: Addiction treatment is a serious business. While you may get some useful answers from helpful people in a place like this, you need to check with medically qualified and experienced people.
You may find some help at Wikipedia - it may help point you to other places.
Laws are different in different parts of the world too.
Contact your local governmental health dept - or a local hospital.
Personal support is usually considered a good thing, if those people are not involved in the drug scene themselves - those who have 'dried out' often are helpful as they have been thru it themselves. There are many 'help organizations' of varying quality around - some even take the line of using 'Religion', Some ex-addicts as support.
Some treatments use just abstinence, while some methods use 'replacement drugs', some use a combination of approaches.
All methods do have a percentage failure rate - some people go thru the process more than once before they finally can stop falling back.
Question: What is the process of heavy metal detoxification in the human body? I've been taking megadoses (9 g/day) of chlorella in an effort to remove heavy metals from my body. I am wondering how chelation works with heavy metals in the body, and how the metals are removed from my system (do they come out in sweat or urine?). Is there any way to tell this regimen is 'working'?
Answer: Yeah, that won't work. Eating an algae does not chelate anything. You've been duped by charlatans trying to sell you a product to "detoxify" you. If someone uses the words "detox," "cleanse," or "all natural," be skeptical. It's probably a scam. Also anything promoted by Mercola is almost certainly worthless.
Actual metal chelators are usually fairly harsh molecules that bind to metal ions. When you urinate, they are flushed away with their bound metal. They are used in the treatment of actual heavy metal poisoning. However, we need metal ions to live and they remove the toxic ones along with the necessary ones. Mineral deficiencies are common during treatment for heavy metal poisoning.
Question: Is there a body detoxification solution that will start working fast and ACTUALLY cleanse you, not mask?
Answer: Incorporating fiber in the diet is a good colon cleansing tip. Fiber is very important in the digestion process since it makes the elimination process easier. Your colon absorbs the undigested fiber, while your body takes in the nutrients from the food you eat. Soluble fiber is considered responsible in reducing your cholesterol levels because of its gel-like material that absorb fats. The fats are flushed out easily thus preventing it to reach and clog your arteries. A healthy fiber-diet is very important for your health and for colon cleansing.

I was looking for the benefits of cutting out bread from my diet and stumbled on it. By the way cutting out bread isn't for me=d It's for obesity.
Question: What are natural remedies that speed up heroin withdrawal / detoxification? Natural/ Homeopathic remedies (vitamins/minerals/herbs etc.) that eliminate toxins from the body quicker and/or easier.
I've done research have learned some things are: water, vitamins A&C, liver cleansers, fibers, and a few others. Is there anything that is essential or used for withdrawal / detoxification?
Answer: Use Gentain and Dandelion root as well as Milk Thistle all together in combination, in equal parts in a tea. These are all good detox herbs. They tea will taste foul but this is the most potent way to get the herbs. Drink a cup 3-5 times daily. Keep up the vitamins and electrolytes as well.
Also on the end of the index fingernail on the inside (thumb side) is the accupuncture point for the beginning of the large intestine meridian, tap here around 20 times, then on the side of the hand where you would hit if you did a karate chop, this is the small intestine meridian point, tap here straight after tapping the index finger. keep doing this repeatedly as often as you can throughout the detox, it help tremedously.
Best of luck.

Question: What can you say about the detoxification process wherein you dip your feet in a basin with water? different colors come out of the water, and they have a chart of what that color represents eg. liver, kidney, nicotine, heart (problem)etc. A magnet(electric) is also dipped in the water, said to be made in germany or korea. Does it really detoxify? Or have you seen anything like it?
Answer: Detoxification remedies are one of the more popular forms of alternative medicine. Colonics, anti-oxidants, etc. are touted as being able to remove bad things--toxins--from your body. No one wants a bunch of crap swirling around in his/her body, so the idea of removing harmful things from your body appeals to everyone. The problem is that the claims made often differ from the actual results.
What toxins are they removing? How do I know that this gadget is actually doing what it is claiming? What is the mechanism for removal? These are all valid questions that usually go unanswered in the marketing material.
We have organs (i.e. the liver and kidneys) whose responsibility it is to remove toxins from the body. They do a pretty good job. There is nothing to indicate that our bodies are full of any toxins that aren't accounted for by our organs.
How could placing your feet in water remove toxins from the body? The idea seems to be that the toxins are forced to leech out of the skin. Well, what causes this? How is it that this mechanism only causes leeching of toxins? How does it know the difference between toxic and non-toxic materials?
Companies like this one will always prey upon people's psychological insecurities regarding their health and will always do what they can to separate a fool from his money.
Question: What can you benefit from the detoxification diet? I am really curious about the detoxfication diet. I really want to know the benifits. Can you eat while your on this diet? Is it healthy for people with an average wieght? Will you feel good doing this diet? And is it for everyone.
Answer: there are many out there. are you interested in a fluid detox, fruit and veggie detox, fiber detox....there are no real benefits to each, they are all different and provide different 'cures' or 'claims' but you can expect to lose some weight, albeit mostly water and muscle due to very low calories. people of all shapes and sizes do them for various reasons, and most feel ok, but often times do not follow them for the whole time because of a decrease in energy (low calories) and grumpiness (low carbs), good luck!
