Answer: Hi
Bux has answered pretty clearly.
It is confusing but it gets easier.
It's all about getting enough proper nutrition for your body to metabolise for energy.
It is also about cutting out all unnecessary fats, salts, and sugar in what you eat.
Eat more low GI food groups to help regulate your BSL's.
Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water per day.
Limit alcohol intake and preferably stay away from it.
Minimise coffee and tea intake daily.
Go for skim or low fat dairy products.
Cut out or limit creams or find healthier substitutes.
On sick days still your diabetic medication.
Check your BSL's regularly.
Try vegetable soups if you can't stomach solids.
Try crackers instead of bread.
Never miss your meals or snacks.
If you are intending to do more exercise either eat an extra portion of carbohydrate or lower your insulin or medication before hand.
It's a juggling act and you can learn to live with it.
Don't give up, keep at it and before long you will get it.
Always carry a muesli snack bar and some jelly beans on your person so if your BSL's drop (hypo) you can get yourself out of it
Follow-up with a carbohydrate such as a sandwich of piece of fruit to reinforce yourself with.
I use olive oil spread instead of butter and Olive Oil for cooking
I dry bake (using no oil or very little)
I am mindful or aware of keeping fats in arteries down to keep cholesterol levels down which can lead to heart disease or circulation problems in lower extremities.

Weight control is important. Got learn to help yourself.
As you get older your body will change and you will get a bit heavier.
Exercise to help with circulation and metabolic rate.
It's about helping you to understand how to look after your kidneys, liver, lungs, heart and circulation etc etc.
Do you have access to diabetic educators?
Contact one of these who can explain things better to you.
You will need to eat at least 5 small meals a day.
Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, Dinner, Supper.
Fast foods are not an option as they are loaded with fats, salts and sugar (even though they say they aren't).
Read the nutrition or Ingredients content on packaging to get an idea.

Question: What foods/meats were the Israelites permitted from eating in their dietary guidelines ? I wish to start following them, even though I'm not Jewish, but Orthodox.
Thanks for your help.
God Bless.
Answer: You are not required by the Jewish religion to observe any dietary restrictions.
As far as Judaism is concerned, Jews must keep all 613 commandments, while non-Jews must keep the seven Noahide commandments:
1. BELIEF IN G-D
Do not worship Idols
2. RESPECT G-D AND PRAISE HIM
Do Not Blaspheme His Name
3. RESPECT HUMAN LIFE
Do Not Murder
4. RESPECT THE FAMILY
Do Not Commit Immoral Sexual Acts
5. RESPECT FOR OTHERS’ RIGHTS AND PROPERTY
Do Not Steal
6. CREATION OF A JUDICIAL SYSTEM
Pursue Justice
A robust and healthy legal system, administering justice fairly, creates a society worthy of G-d’s blessings. Establishing a system of judges, courts, and officials to maintain and enforce the law is a far-reaching responsibility. This precept translates the ideals of our personal life into a formal order for society at large. It is the extension and guarantee of all the preceding laws.
7. RESPECT ALL CREATURES
Do not be cruel to animals.

Question: do dietary guidelines for pregnant women apply afterwards when breastfeeding? e.g. no raw meats, low caffeine, low sugar...etc etc etc..
how much should you drink (water) and do you have to keep up a similar eating regime as when pregnant? what if you eat less, will that affect milk supply?
Answer: To an extent, yes. Everything you eat still gets to the baby, but you don't have to worry as much as when you were pregnant. Before you ate so that your baby would get all of the nutrients and grow properly. That still applies, however another thing to consider is the fact that now, if you have too much sugar or caffeine, you will also have to worry about them being colicky or hyper. The way it works with you is how it will affect the baby. You want to still eat plenty because, although your milk supply probably won't lessen, it will still take away valuable nutrients that your baby needs. You should still drink a ton of water because nursing will cause you to lose a lot of fluids, so you need to make up for what is lost.

Question: Does anyone know the average amount of saturated fat one can consume in a day and meet the dietary guidelines? Im 5'11 180 pounds i it makes a difference
Answer: First off you want to avoid saturated fat. It's bad for you. There are four kinds of fat, trans fat, saturated fat, polyunsaturated fat and monounsaturated fat. The trans fat is the worst then saturated fat. You want to avoid those fats. Your body does need the monounsaturated fats and the polyunsaturated fats those are good for you. Those kinds of fats cany typically be found in nuts and some other things. I am not clear on what the dietry guide lines are for the good fats. I just know not to over do it, even too much of a good thing can be bad for you. So my advice would be to only eat the suggested serving size.
