Dietary Protein
Question: Edema appears when there is a severe lack of dietary protein because? -sodium is retained in the body.
-blood protein levels fall and fluid shifts to the tissues.
-blood protein levels increase and force fluid into the tissues.
-increased protein synthesis occurs in tissues causing fluid to flow into them from the blood.
Answer: The second answer. It's sometimes called "third spacing".
Question: What are dietary protein, fat and carbohydrate converted to once digested?
Answer: amino acids, mono and di glycerides, and monosaccharides. Now after they're metabolized would take a much more complicated answer.
Question: Describe why a ruminent animal can survive and grow on a diet devoid of dietary protein an a pig cannot? question for paper 117.152 Animals and Agriculture
Answer: Grass is hard to digest because it has a high content on cellulose, a hard-to-break sugar compound. Ruminants have long intestinal tracks, enzymes and bacteria that allow them to digest cellulose and take the nitrogen from the grass (you need nitrogen to synthesize proteins), while pigs have short intestinal tracks, more adapted to more energetic food. In a nutshell, the pig's digestive track is too short, and as a consequence they digest their food too fast to be able to take all the nutrients they need to synthesize proteins from the grass. So they instead need to ingest food with already synthesized proteins in it.
Question: whats a good source of dietary protein? im trying to lose weight and im looking to start walking for a mile and then start running it. i know that i need to slim down before i start building muscle by lifting weights and all. i weight around 165 and im about 5'11 but i dont have a lot of muscle. so im looking to gain muscle and lose the fat. im a little big in the upper body section is there anyway to burn the fat from my chest and my calf/thigh area?
Answer: beans, nuts, nut(peanut almond, cashew) butter, legumes, lentils, tofu, whole wheat bread, vegetables, etc..
Question: Why is collagen not a good source of dietary protein?
Answer: It has bad minerals that harm your body.

Question: is it good to take whey protein as a dietary supplement? im 5'8 132 pounds, with a body fat % of 9.3. i want to get it to 6 for eight pack abs, so im on a strict around 1500 calorie a day diet, and i get my daily protein from skinless chicken breasts and 4 hard boiled eggs every day, and even on days when i don't lift take it for the protein? its 140 calories 100 % whey.
Answer: AT 5"8', 132, you sound under weight. Are you a guy or girl ? You don't necessarily need protein powder. Most guys use it because they consume so much food, its easier to boost the caloric intake
with a protein drink. I'm talking about guys that are eating 3000 calories, its hard to get all that down sometimes, so they drink their calories.
Question: How will extra dietary proteins be put to use, and in which tissues? Suppose you start a body-building program. You are already eating plenty of carbohydrates. Now a qualified nutritionist recommends that you start a protein-rich diet that includes protein supplements. Speculate on how extra dietary proteins will be put to use, and in which tissues.
Please help!
Answer: The extra protein in the diet will be broken down to its component amino acids during the digestion process. Those amino acids will be used for protein synthesis within the body. The uptake of the amino acids into cells will depend on how actively those cells are producing proteins. That is, the uptake of the amino acids is not targeted to specific tissues such as muscle. However, growing muscle cells will increase their protein synthesis. Thus, some of the additional protein will go to building muscles, but the rest will be used by other tissues.
Question: what is the recommended dietary allowances of protein, fats and carbohydrates in grams of an adult? what is the balance diet of an adult? what kind of food should be eaten to achieve balance diet?
Answer: it is very different and depends on a lot of factors but generally it's 5-6 g of carbs per kg per day, 20-30% of ur diet should consist of fat preferably good unsaturated fat and protein varies as for sedentary people the recommendations are 0,8g per kg per day but for aerobic endurance is around 1,4g per kg per day and for resistance training a number between 1,5 to 2,0g per kg per day.
Question: When would your dietary protein not be used efficiently by your body, no matter the quality?
Answer: When there are liver problems.
Question: How energy is obtained from catabolism of protein and fat (dietary sources)? and under what circumstances do animal use fat and protein as energy source?
Answer: Normally energy is produced by the oxidation of glucose ,in case of starvation or any other abnormality when glucose is not available to cells like in diabetes mellitus.
>in such cases first stored glycogen is broken down to glucose(glycogenolysis).
>proteins and fats are utilized when the glycogen stores deplete .
>proteins(glucogenic amino acids) are converted to glucose by the process of gluconeogenesis.
>fats undergo beta oxidation to produce acetyl COA that enters mitochondria .
Question: waht percentage of dietary protein is hydrolyzed in the mouth?
Answer: wat
Question: Can lack of dietary protein cause hair to turn grey?
Answer: Yup white as cotton. Like mine.
Question: Why does EAS Whey Protein (dietary suplement) shrink my muscles? I've noticed that when I take a shake of EAS vanilla Whey protein my muscles start shrinking! and I dont think thats good since i want the opposite! does anyone know why this may be happening? isnt protein supposed to help ur muscles grow and not fade them away?
Answer: Check the label on other stuff you've been using. One of the things I love about EAS protein is they are one of the only brands that do NOT include creatine in the mix. Without the creatine, your muscles will shrink a little, but you're not losing any strength.
Question: why is UPD (un-degradable dietary protein) useful to animals? why is UPD usefel to animals?
Answer: Waste. Helps to move the bowels. Fibre. Like we can't digest plant products well, they help us to poo regularly etc. If you don't get enough, your bowel can become conpacted and can make you ill.
By the way, I assume it's the same with all animals ;)
Question: What is the pH of EAS 100% Whey Protein Dietary Supplement?
Answer: You may be better off calling the 800 number on the package.... they would be the best source to ask.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that many products like this may test at a different pH than what impact it has on your body. Lemon juice is a perfect example... it tests highly acidic, but has an alkaline effect on your body.
Question: What are some structural and functional components of the cell that may be disrupted by protein deficiency? In the case of dietary protein deficiency, cells may not be able to obtain the necessary amino acids in order to maintain structural and functional components of the cell. What are some aspects of the cell that may be effected by this protein def.
Answer: About 90% of the dry weight of a cell is made of proteins. So pretty much every cell structure would be effected by a deficiency. Even chromosomes themselves have structural proteins. The ribosomes that manufacture proteins are made of RNA and proteins. The cytoskeleton is made of proteins. And almost every enzyme that synthesizes non-protein structural components is itself a protein. So take your pick, every cell structure would be effected.
