Drinking Water
Question: drinking water? My 5 month old baby isn't fond of drinking water...how can I make him drink more water everyday? I read in a book that honey shouldn't ge given to babies for atleast before he reaches 8months...what can I add to his water for him to like it more?
Answer: don't add anything. a child must learn that every liquid he puts in his mouth doesn't have to have sugar in it. when he gets to be 2 or 4, he will demand only sugary drinks all the time. if he doesn't get used to them now, you won't have to break a very bad habit when he is old enough to throw a fit if he doesn't get his sugar fix!
Question: Drinking Water? I hate to drink water! I'm 40 years old and I know that I should be drinking water daily. However, I just can't! What can I do to get myself into the frame of drinking water on a daily basis? I don't want my kidneys to shout down on me. I'm very serious I drink water maybe 4 to five times a month.
Answer: Try carrying a bottle of water with you everywhere you go. You'll probably drink more than you think if it's readily available. To give it some flavor, add lemon and lime slices. You can also try flavored seltzer. Start slowly. Set a goal of drinking two full glasses a day (once in the morning when you get up and once before bed). Then increase to 3 glasses a day and so on. Also eating fresh fruits will give you some of the water you need.
Question: Does drinking water after drinking wine make you drunker, or get you drunk again, and why? I've been a fan of wine for a long time. I have many friends that say wine is great, because after drinking wine, you can drink water, and get drunker or drunk again. Or after a night of drinking wine, in the morning if you drink water, you'll get drunk again.
Being an avid wine fan, I have yet to ever experience this amazing phenomenon. So, is it true, and if so, why does it work.
Answer: I am an avid wine drinker and this is simply not true. Period. The end.
Question: Is it safe to drink water from the wall mounted drinking water fountain at my workplace? I always drink from the wall mounted drinking water fountain at my workplace. Recently, I have been feeling sick. Perhaps the water fountain made me sick? For the past two days, there has been a water bubble sticking out of the water hole of the fountain.
Can you get sick or injured from drinking water from a wall mounted drinking water fountain?
Answer: Your workplace has a water fountain? Wow, those are about as rare as phone booths. You'd be better off drinking tap water from your own drinking glass or just bringing in bottled water.
It would be much more sanitary if your employer got rid of the fountain and got a chiller/dispenser and a bottled water service.
Question: How much water should I be drinking during the day? I go to work and school everyday from 8 to 5, and find that I never remember to drink water. I spend all day running back and forth from work to class, and can barely finish half a bottle of water by the time 5 rolls around.
I drink a glass when I get home before bed, but how much water should I be drinking in that 8 to 5 time period? Would one full bottle be enough? Or should I concentrate on drinking more?
Answer: Here is an article I've found so it can put things in place for you:
A person should drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day. People who do not drink adequate amounts of water can end up having many problems with their health. One of the most common problems due to insufficient intake of water is dehydration. This should not be taken lightly as it can be fatal for elderly people and infants.
Water is very beneficial for the body and we should not neglect drinking it. Everyday we lose large amounts of water as we go about our normal activities. We lose water when we urinate, sweat and even breathe. Therefore, you should keep replenishing the water in your body by drinking at regular intervals.
If you do not like to drink water, you can add a twist of lemon and drink it. This will change the taste and also give you some Vitamin C. Avoid substituting tea, coffee and sodas for water. You will be doing your body more harm than good.
Water also helps you lose weight at it important for burning fats in the body. It also helps the body to maintain normal temperature and transport oxygen to the cells of the body. You can prevent many kidney problems by drinking adequate amounts of water everyday.
Remember, though the minimum quantity of water that you should drink everyday is 8 glasses, the amount of water that your body needs depends on certain factors like the climate you live in, body weight and how active you are physically.
In case you do exercise, you should drink a glass of water before the exercise and another one after the exercise. If you do vigorous exercise, make sure you also have a health drink to replenish the lost electrolytes.
Question: Drinking water with crystal light packets still considered drinking a lot of water daily? You know how its said that you should drink 8 glasses of water a day, well i drink that much water a day but i put the crystal light flavor packets in it. Is it still considered drinking 8 glasses of water a day since the packets don't have sugar. Or do the flavor packets make it not pure water so it doesn't count?
Answer: yes its still consider drinking 8 glasses a day thats what i do
Question: What are the benefits of drinking water? I barely drink water and I think i can even stay a month or who knows without drinking water. I only drink coke (coca cola). So what good things would happen to me if i quit coke and start drinking water everday?
Answer: Okay... I know a ton about this, because my family is all about drinking water. Anyway, one of the most important things (for me) that it'll help you do is lose weight. Drinking an adequate amount of water helps you lose weight, and then keeps you thin and trim. Many times, people's thirst mechanism is so low in their body that when their body is telling them they're thirsty, the person will think they're hungry, so they'll end up eating instead of drinking water- which will make you gain weight. Also, you'll stop having headaches. #1 cause of headaches is dehydration. Once you start drinking a lot of water you'll be sick less, because drinking water helps your immune system, therefore your immune system can fight disease and sickness better. The biggest reason to drink water though is to cleanse your body of toxins. Everyday we drink and eat... crap. So many chemicals and junk is put into our body that is somehow needs to get out- that's what water is for. Drinking water cleansing the body of these chemicals therefore not only does it help you be healthier, but it decrease your risk of cancers and disease like that. Drinking water will increase your energy level, because NOT drinking is like a form of malnutrition. It'll probably make your bones stronger, and it could probably help vision. And (I know this for a fact) when you exercise or even when you're not exercising a lot of times females experience cramps (running = abdominal cramps; lsudden eg cramps are very common)- these cramps happen because your body is not getting enough water. Menstrual cramps can also be eliminated or lessened by drinking more water. Women's muscles are made up of a lot more water then males so that's why if we don't drink enough water our bodies react right away. I hope this helped... and I'm sure I forgot a lot of things... Oh! And you should be drinking half your body weight in ounces. So let's say you're 120 lbs, you should be drinking 60 oz. a day!!
Question: How does drinking lots of water before an activity help prevent dehydration? For the summer I'm working it a wearhouse. It gets really hot and we need to bring alot of water to work with us. They tell us to drink alot of water before work. How does that help? I would think that if I'm 100% hydrated before i go into work and i keep drinking water then i would just pee it all out.
Answer: When you are doing vigorous activity (or work in very hot place), you can lose water by sweating. This can quickly lead to dehydration if you are not consuming enough fluids to make up for what you are sweating out.
Question: How to remove chemicals from drinking water? I have a sensitivity to bleach/chlorine that is getting progressively worse. Lately I can't even drink the local tap water; they've added more bleach than usual. I can smell it in the water, and when I get thirsty enough to drink I have severe stomach cramps for hours. Bottled water is NOT an option; how can I make my drinking water safe?
Answer: try to find a filter that uses reverse osmosis to purify the water

Question: How much faster does drinking water help you get better when you have a cold? I know you're supposed to drink a lot of water when you have the common cold, but out of sheer curiosity, how much faster does drinking water help you get better in comparison to not drinking water?

Question: How much difference will drinking water make in my skin? I almost never drink water, I drink iced tea and stuff but not plain water. I have a lot of pimples and my skin often feels tight and dry, and it's always bumpy and splotchy. Also, my lips are always dry and the skin on my legs is purple and splotchy. Will drinking 8 cups of water a day make a large visible difference, or does it just generally make you more healthy?
Answer: Water nourishes the skin the same way it does a plant. When a plant is dry and thirsty, it soaks up the water immediately, and you can see an almopst instand, "pick me up". When skin is dry and thirsty, water hydrates it and helps it not to feel so dry. There is water in iced tea and fruit, but there is also a high amount of sugar. Your skin will definitely benefit from a greater water intake-after a few days, although it might not be pimple free, the dryness and tightness you experience will be mostly alleviated, and you might feel more energetic. The water is helping to flush toxins from your body and main organs, and the skin the the body's largest organ! So it benefits the most.
Usually, your skin reflects what is going on the body. Pure water can add hyrdration and clarity to your skin. Also, a water based gel moisturizer can help retain moisture and not clog your pores.
Question: Can just drinking water start or keep my metabolism going? For instance if i wake up and im not hungry but i know i need to start my metabolism is water enough to do that? Or if i had eaten breakfast but wasn't hungry when lunch rolled around can i keep my metabolism going by maybe drinking a 16-20 oz. bottle of water? Thx in advance!
Answer: Water is the number one deficiency of Americans today. Many times people feel hungry, but it is the body's reaction to being dehydrated. Fatigue is one of the first symptoms of being dehydrated. If you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated before you get that feeling.
Your metabolism is due to the health of your thyroid and where you get most of your calories. If you get most of your calories from carbohydrates, you will have a slower metabolism. However, if you get most of your calories from fat, you will have a faster metabolic rate. The stored fat in your body secretes a hormone called leptin that determines how you utilize insulin and glucagon. If you are eating a low fat diet as many do, you are not only damaging your body, but you are slowing your metabolism down and will find it more difficult to lose weight due to the "plateauing" that happens as a result of this issue.
Water, along with electrolytes, will contribute greatly to your feeling less fatigue and in that sense, give a boost to your metabolism.
Drinking water first thing in the morning is a very good idea because it stimulates your bowel activity. Only 4% of the water you drink actually gets to the bowels. 60% is eliminated in the kidney, 24% lungs, 12% in perspiration, leaving the 4% for bowels.
The average person needs water at the following rate:
Take your total body weight and divide by 2. That number is the amount of water in ounces that you need to drink each and everyday. Along with that, you should consume 1/4 teaspoon of "air dried sea salt" in conjunction with each quart of water you drink. This puts the electrolytes in your body that will give you proper hydration. The typical white table salt you buy in stores like the Morton Salt, for instance, is terrible for you and has loads of chemicals added. Avoid that junk. If you drink ANY diuretic drinks like, sodas, coffee, tea, alcohol, commercially prepared fruit drinks, energy drinks, etc., these all dehydrate you and you will need to add more water to the total to compensate for the water loss due to these diuretic drinks. Take the total ounces of the diuretic drinks and multiply by 1.5 and add that total to the original total to come up with the proper amount of water you need to drink each day.
good luck to you
Question: How does drinking water with meals influence your digestion? I am constantly drinking water and I have heard that it is not goo to drink water with meals because it dilutes the enzymes in your stomach. Is the effect so bad that you shouldnt drink water with a meal? What are some problems that can arise from this?
Answer: This is nonsense. Where DO you morons get these idiotic ideas??
IT DOESN'T MATTER!! If you're thirsty during your meal, go ahead and drink! Your stomach will simply secrete more acid and enzymes, if that's necessary. There will NOT be any "problems". Sheesh!
Question: What is drinking water standard for Indian Municipality to supply water to public? What is permit-able limit for for municipality for drinking water?
Do they follow that norms?
Answer: It is not safe for drinking whatever they may claim.
Question: What is the benefit of drinking spring water rather than regular 'drinking water'? Is there any? I have been reading this book that deals with improving your life and health, and it suggested that one should start drinking spring water rather than standard tap water. Why would this be? So i went to the store (i buy water by the jug because the water in my area is not properly treated) and it is more expensive to buy spring water than drinking water. What gives? Is it really that big of a difference?
Answer: Spring water usually supplies a better array of trace minerals than purified "drinking water". The difference in content is slight.
However, unlike purified "drinking water," municipal tap water is usually bad for us because it tends to have chlorine and flouride added. Chlorine is toxic and denatures vitamins in our bodies, rendering them useless. Drinking chlorinated water can cause vitamin deficiency.
While flouride helps the teeth, it harms the body. Municipal water also tends to supply toxic impurities such as pesticides and heavy metals which can impair fertility and worsen health. So unless your city's tap water comes from an aquifer or spring, it is probably not good for you. More info on how city tap water compares to bottled water below.
Rural well water, or water from a small town or nature preserve out in the boonies, is usually relatively unpolluted and won't contain much but the odd pesticide from local farms, unless it is an old mining town. Mining pollutes big time.
If you are in a city and don't have a spring near you, then "purified water" is better for the environment and your pocketbook than spring water such as Fiji or Perrier, etc.
The recent study which supposedly showed Fiji water to be of poorer quality than most tap water defined high quality water as water which supplies trace minerals. Fiji water contains nearly no minerals so they defined it as "low quality."
Tap water usually does supply minerals. However, I would say that defining water as "high quality" based solely on mineral content is biased since it misses a *very* important factor: The levels of toxins in the water!! If you analyse the water primarily for toxin levels, Fiji water is of much higher quality than most municipal tap water sources.
So if you live somewhere that spring water is abundant and doesn't have to be shipped in any further than purified water, then the spring water may be a better choice.
In some cities like Austin TX, San Marcos TX, or Hot Springs Arkansas, you can just go collect your own spring water from a public spring! :)
And if your city draws its water from a spring's underground equivalent (aquifer water), like San Antonio TX does, then tap water in such a city will be identical to bottled spring water, and buying spring water will waste money, gasoline and plastic!
You can get the same minerals that spring water supplies by adding a mineral supplement such as coral calcium, or adding more fruits, veggies, beans, nuts and seeds to your diet.
And you can remove chlorine and pesticides from city water by using a filter such as Brita or PUR.
