Energy Drinks
Question: energy drinks? I've always heard that energy drinks are horrible for you and recently I discovered one I really liked (rockstar), so you can see my dilemna. Why exactly are they so bad for you (specifically the caffeine level etc), and how often is it safe to drink them??
Answer: It's just that the caffeine levels in it isn't great for you. Go look up any site on excessive consumption of caffeine and you'll get your answer. As for short term effects, I don't think you'll notice anything ''bad'' and it'll do its job by keepin you awake. However, if you become wayy too reliant on it, it'll no longer work. By then, you might need to down 2.. or 3 rockstars just to achieve that previous alertness you once got from a single can.
If you must, (in my opinion), drink the rockstar without the sugar, the regular one's loaded with extra carbs that are totally unnecessary.
Question: Energy Drinks? Which energy drinks are the worst for your health? What do eneregy drinks do in a negative way? How do they affect my health and body?
Answer: Many have caffeine in them. That will increase your heart rate. Could be bad for you depending... They don't really give you energy. Food gives you energy in the form of calories.
Question: ENERGY DRINKS?????????????? What energy drinks are sold at ANY dollar store (dollar tree, dollar general, family dollar, etc.) if any?!
THANKS
PS- what energy drink would you recommend me trying next?
Answer: Have you tried XS energy drinks..... I really like them... they have about a dozen flavors and are loaded with B-12. My favorite flavor is cranberry grape. Sold only online. I get them at http://mrtester.ltdteam.com password nutrition
Question: ENERGY drinks!!!? i was wondering, ive tried redbull but ive head about this energy drink 5 hour energy and was wondering if it really works. what would you say makes you more hyper 5 hour or redbull? i heard 5 hour tastes gross but its so small it doesnt matter.
Answer: I have heard that 5 hour tastse gross too. But then Red Bull is gross so they are even in that regard as far as I am concerned.
Red Bull makes you hyper because of the sugar. They both have the same amount of caffeine so there is no difference there. The real difference is that 5 Hour energy followed XS Energy's lead by providing energy through B vitamins rather than sugar.
Red Bull has a few but hardly any more than what the caffeine depletes our body of anyhow. Since B vitamins are essential for energy then it only makes sense to put in much more than just what the caffeine would take out.
But if it is a healthier choice you want and good taste then maybe consider the XS. They have 13 great tasting varieties. The combination of their taste, health, vareity, and 100% guarantee is what makes them the 2nd largest selling behind Red Bull and the fastest growing.
They are not available in store so if you know someone that sells them ask them about it. If not then ask me and I will help you get some.
Question: Energy!Drinks!? What energy drink do you drink? I drink Amp'd Overdrive the red one
Answer: i bought Tab energy drink. the pink can caught my eye. it is good and i didnt feel suddenly tired when it wore off. my husband doesnt like the pink can.
Question: How do energy drinks work exactly? I use Monster on a regular basis, but I don't understand why I feel so great after drink one.
Also, I often get a headache after drinking coffee, but could it be related to making my coffee very strong?
Also, is it possible to get strongly addicted to Monster or other energy drinks?
Also, does anyone have an experienced opinion (somone having drunk Monster on several occasions) on what energy drink has the best effects and least side effects, etc.
Does anyone know why caffeine pills make me feel terrible/anxious?
Please do not advise me to stop drinking Monster or other energy drinks please.
Answer: Energy drinks are full of both caffeine and sugar...
Sugar and caffeine are both addictive, and can cause withdrawal symptoms.
Some symptoms of withdrawal are anxiety, headache and nausea.
Sometimes caffeine pills make you feel anxious because the caffeine is keying you up, and you have no way of stopping it.
Normally your body generates a heightened state of awareness in response to danger or stress, and when the danger is gone it shuts it off.
Caffeine works like this, heightening your alertness, but there is no way for your body to turn it off - until it wears off.
Some energy drinks hide their active ingredient by telling the name of the plant that it came from, or using another name. An example is Yerba Matte. This is chemically similar to caffeine, and is just as addictive.
Question: What is the purpose of having energy drinks while working out? In the gym where I workout there are these chillers full of energy drinks like Gatorade and today there was this group handing out sample bottles of a new energy drink.
My purpose of visiting the gym and working out is to burn energy and fat, not to take in more energy by way of energy drinks. The only beverage I drink while working out is water, so I keep my hydration levels up. I am confused why anyone would want to hit the gym to burn energy but then take in more energy while there.
Answer: Gatorade specifically contains electrolytes, you use these when you exercise and gatorade replenishes them if you drink it after a workout.
The purpose of having energy drinks is they contain caffeine, caffeine is a stimulant, it helps with endurance making you able to last longer and push further while exercising, too much caffeine can be bad for you because it makes your heart beat faster, lots of body-builders ect take it before a workout to help them lift more.
also you are asking why people want to take more energy while working out?
the reason for this is because if you measure energy in calories, when you eat food the calories can come from different things, for example 1g of fat = 9 calories, where as energy drinks get the energy from other ingredients and not fat, in my opinion they are still bad for you but they shouldn't cause you to gain weight as long as you are working out aswell and drinking them.
if you want to gain endurance while exercising so you can last longer its best to drink a cup of plain black coffee, as this is 0 calories and contains caffeine, or you can buy caffeine pills, i think they normally come in 200mg dosages which then 1 pill is enough, just take it about 30 mins before you exercise or read the packet to see when the best time is.
hope this helped!
Question: What energy drink can I use before I play basketball instead of high caffeine and sugar drinks? I drink either a Red Bull or Full Throttle about 3-5 times a week before I play ball at noon everyday. I know its something else I can drink instead of that because I am gaining weight and I'm trying to lose weight instead. The extra boost the energy drinks gives me helps so I want to continue to take something, just not all that caffeine and sugar.
Answer: I would suggest a little of dark chocolate (over 70% cocoa) - it will give you more energy than energy drinks and its antioxidant.
Question: What in energy drinks make people want to die? I know a few people that every time after they drink an energy drink, they get really depressed and want to die. Other than this, they have no signs of depression or suicidal thoughts. What in energy drinks causes this?
Answer: Thee energy drinks are filled with stimulants, whether they be excessive sugar, caffeine or other stimulants. This is where the energy comes from. Once those stimulants wear off, the person is left with a "crash". They are suddenly more tired than before the drink and no longer feeling the giddy "I can take on the world" feeling. It's a physical let down and may feel like depression.
I've never heard of anyone wanting to die because of an energy drink crash, however. This is serious and you should get together with your friends and look at the contents. Try to convince them to stop drinking them at the least, for heavens sake. Why would they continue to drink this stuff when it has that affect?
Most of these drinks are still not regulated by the FDA and could very well contain something that we'll be hearing about on a mass class action law suite in future after the FDA removes it from the market...just like so many diet pills.
Question: Are energy drinks good for your health or not? I drink 1 coffee everyday but when I run late to school or work I drink energy drinks...anyone know about any energy drinks inparticular. I drink Tabb and Diet Rockstar.
Answer: I've heard & read they're not as well. Plus, I notice that some have a LOT of sodium, & too much sodium isn't good. I really don't understand why they're looked at as good tasty "alternative" sports drinks when the safest drink anyone should really drink after exerting a lot of energy is water. And, at the same time you can't drink TOO too much water (although you'd have to drink an obscene amount with no food for it to affect you). As usual, moderation... a couple a week can't hurt nearly as much as a couple a day.
Question: How bad are energy drinks when you work out? Ohk so i drink a ton of water, work out and eat healthy. Though i like to drink energy drinks like Full Throttle, Jolt, and Red Bull (those are the only ones i drink). Are they actually that bad for you i mean if you stay active and drink water. What about sugar-free Red Bull? Any thoughts or suggestions or advice? Please have a reason behind your answer. Support it please and be informative i really need to know if i should continue you or not.
Answer: Setting cliches like "pain is weakness leaving the body" amongst others aside, the human body is an amazing creation. We feel tired when we over-exert ourselves. Basically it is your body telling you "hey! I need some rest" so, if you rely on caffeinated energy drinks to give you the motivation/propulsion to go, then in my personal oppinion you're not giving your body the rest it needs.
Here's my my personal view on this. Most fitness trainers and coaches try to develope vascularization in the athlete they are coaching in order to facilitate the movement of:
1. oxygen and fuel to the muscles/tissues
2. carbon dioxide and other metabolites from muscles/tissues
3. nutrients needed to heal the body
4. waste products after the workout from the tissues
In order to develope the vascularization the body needs rest and plenty of it. How does you average energy drink affect this process?
1. being "over-alert" decreases your recuperation time
2. caffeine causes vaso constriction (blood vessles get narrower)
3. caffeine also is a diuretic (you lose not only water which will lead to dehydration, but also the electrolytes and minerals the body needs such as magnesium, calcium, sodium, phosphorus and potassium)
4. with all the stimulants in those drinks you will lose the ability to relax your muscles well enough to facilitate recuperation.
Back to the recuperation and rest subject. Decreased rest can lead to cardiovascular problems, not only with cholesterol, arteriosclerosis and such but failure of your natural "pacemaker" of your heart. I saw this happen to a guy I know, he had a heart attack and was resuccitated twice during an all out anaerobic threshold run workout. When the doctors did the artey bypass to implant the pacemaker they noticed how clean his arteries where. He was a health nut...which kept his cholestrol low and blood vessels clean, but what we think it is because he did not partake in needed recuperation he ended up with a sinoatrial node failure (meaning the doctors had to implant an artificial pacemaker in his chest), he led a very rest deprived lifestyle.
Brings me to the end of my answer, hope you take care of your recuperation as well as you are taking care of your active lifestyle and nothing beats proper nutrition, hydration and rest.
Question: What is the best drink for good energy instead of Coffee and energy drinks? i drink a cup of coffee every morning to have energy for exercising though it is not good for health so whats better than coffee and energy drinks to keep my level up?
Answer: GREEN TEA. i was a coffee addict until i discovered that the green tea gives me a lot more energy which lasts longer. coffee only gives you a short rush and then you begin feeling tired,
the teas release the energy at a slower rate, don't cause digestive and cardiac problems.
and you don't feel just 'high', you feel good.
the only thing is, they start working a little slower than coffee.
which is , actually, healthier.
Question: What is the longterm effects of regularly drinking energy drinks? I know that energy drinks have a lot of chemicals in them, but do they really hurt you in the long run? I was told a man had heart problems because he drank multiple Red Bull drinks a day for months straight. I also noticed that the drinks are getting bigger, so the size of the drink may be a factor. Would drinking energy drinks regularly do longterm damage?
Answer: Weight gain, sleepless nights and headaches
Question: no rush from energy drinks, will alcohol effect me in the same way? I am a 15 year old male. i once read that if you don't get a rush from energy drinks, your body has a high caffine tallarence. i once had 4 liquid ice energy drinks in under an hour, another time i had two monster energy drinks and a no fear energy drink in about 3 and a half hours. both times i felt absolutely nothing what so ever. There are also plenty of other times i've had just one energy drink and felt nothing.
So i was woundering if it would be the same case for alcohol, when i grow up, would i need to consume very large amounts of alcohol to get drunk?
Answer: Energy drinks are just vitamins (maybe), caffeine (probably) and sugar. It's really not that different from any other soda or candy.
People who have a decent amount of sugar and caffeine in their diet wont get the "false energy" that people who have a more "pure" diet.
Caffeine is a stimulant and alcohol is a depressant. People who consume a lot of alcohol wont feel the effects of one beer as much as someone who never drank before.
If you do decide to start drinking (when you're old enough) don't assume that it wont affect you because energy drinks don't.
Question: What do you think about the energy drinks? I have seen many kids from the age of 8 to 13 who drinks these energy drinks; for example, Red Bulk, Energy, Rock Stars, etc… These energy drinks contain a lot of caffeine, so I don’t think they are good for the kids’ brain developments. What is your opinion on this issue?
Answer: I agree with you, I remember when they first came out and I was about 15, and they actually had warnings on them saying kids under 13 shouldn't drink it. I also heard drinking red bull is equivalent to drinking 13 cups of coffee
Question: Exactly how bad are energy drinks for you? I drink energy drinks such as Red Bull and Tab Energy quite frequently and people are always telling me how bad they are for you. However, I’m sure I do a lot worse things for my body. Are they actually that harmful?
Answer: Here is a synopsis of an article from GNC on energy drinks:
Now, here's the latest on "Energy Drinks" discovered by Vance Alford.
We received a free GNC magazine and they had an article about how bad energy drinks really are for you here are some of the statistics the study came up with..
Top 5 worst energy drinks are:
1) MONSTER
2) Sobe No Fear
3) Amp'd
4) Full Throttle
5) Rockstar
Red Bull with no sugar was rated as the best energy drink for you,but rightfully enough it had the least effect on your body..(gave you the least energy). here's some other scary statistics it showed in the article..
For every 20oz. of Monster you drink it takes 6.3 gallons of water to flush it out of your kidneys. The average person drinks 6.3 gallons of water in 23 days.. for every 20oz of Red Bull, with no sugar, you drink it takes .9 gallons of water to flush out your kidneys and the average person drinks .9 gallons of water in about 2 days. (I have no idea who an "average person" is, but anyway.....)
Another study showed...
If the average person drank 5 Monsters a day for 12 years, and did not drink 1 gallon of water per day he/she would have kidney failure within 5 years...
Some more...
The average energy drinker drinks 2 energy drinks a day to equal the sugar in 2 Monster you would have to eat 13 scoops of ice cream a day.. Red Bull, with no sugar, it would take 2 scoops of ice cream in a day to equal two red bulls with no sugar..
Those are real scary numbers. I think I'd lay off the Monster... even the best energy drink for you which is Red Bull with no sugar, even it looks real bad for you...
