Answer: Yes, I love fashion too. My answer will probably help you the most. go to www.i-dressup.com. You take a "model", and get to choose a collection from various deisgners such as Christian Dior, Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren, John Galliano, Versace, Fendi, and even some couture collections, such as John Galliano/Dior, and Karl Lagerfeld/Chanel. Good luck! That's www.i-dressup.com

Answer: you could:
get a job designing fashion, maybe for small retailers to begin with, gradually working your way up designing stuff for big brands, and eventually maybe even have your own clothes line!
or you could work in a fashion magazine, that has alot of fashion opportunities.
try and get your grade in art to an A, cos fashion is all about being creative and artistic using clothing to express yourself.

Question: Do you need a degree in fashion or journalism to become a fashion journalist? Hi,
Im 20 and about to start a marketing degree. I recently finished a fashion diploma and i was planning to do fashion marketing but as its extremely competitive i felt that marketing alone would open more doors, just in case. I would really like to do fashion but i am trying to play it safe. I have recently started up a fashion blog and realised that i love writing about fashion and was wondering if becoming a fashion journalist was not so much about the degree but the experience?
Answer: I know it's a cliche but in any creative field networking is 100x more important than the diploma. Ask yourself: what are the odds that any of my marketing instructors will be able to hook me up with a job at a fashion magazine when school is over?
Whatever you do, KEEP BLOGGING! Make that blog the best damn blog you can make. It'll get your name out there, and the criticism you get from rude commenters will eventually mold you into a better writer. If you live in a fashion-conscious city you can do some investigative journalism too.
Good luck!
Question: I want to be in the fashion industry but I have no clue where to begin. How can I start? What are my choices in the fashion industry other then a fashion designer, which I wish I could be but I have no clue on how to sew or draw. Where can I start and work my way up to......Please help! I am 20 and I want to get on the get go. I am not in a fashion school or anything. Because I wanted to be a lawyer but I noticed that I really want to be in the fashion world. I love fashion and I am always into the new fashion.
Answer: Go to a fashion school:)
Question: How is fashion important to world history? I am doing a project on ancient Asian fashions. We have to include how fashion is important to world history and how it affected world history. Any other information on fashion and how it changed in ancient Asia ( 1000 BCE to 1600 ACE) would also be helpful. (This is a high school class.) Thank you!
Thank you so much to everyone who answered! They were all really helpful. :)
Answer: It's relatively unimportant to history. However, since you have to pretend that it is, just discuss the differences between classes' clothing, the difference of religious leaders clothing, and the changes seen in mens clothing versus women's clothing. Research various cultures, and maybe you point out unique clothing like in Korea they have the traditional han bok for various customs.
Question: What is Fashion Merchandising and how can i get involved with it? I really want a job in the fashion industry, and even though it sounds stupid i don't know anything about fashion. So how can i start getting involved and learning about fashion?
Answer: sewing
Question: What is the difference between fashion marketing and fashion merchandising? Im wondering because i want to be a fashion buyer, like what rachel was in friends, but which would i have to major in fashion marketing or fashion merchandising???
Answer: it doesnt really matter they both are the samething if you search for more information on the two you can be a fashion buyer for both of them and also make sure you go to a good school not one that advertise itself on tv late at night those always seem a little sketchy go to top cities like miami, los angelos, new york, chicago and parts of europe..its a risk but its a great career
Question: What is the best fashion magazine for young adults? I recently moved to US and wants to know what the best fashion magazine is for a young adult like me. I am 23, so really cannot relate to cosmogirl or seventeen anymore. I love to dress up and follow fashion trends. I want to subscribe to a magazine where I can find the hottest hairstyle, or latest fashion on clothes, shoes or bags. I am looking for a more mature version of seventeen/cosmogirl.
Answer: Teen Vogue for sure! :)
But Seventeen is still good for young adults too, I think.
Question: What is a good fashion magazine for preteens? I am a preteen and i have a hard time finding nice sites fit for my age. Most sites have a age limit. I am a aspiring fashion designer and would like a magazine with as follows: the latest fashion trend and top wear for the season, cool accessories, fashion tips and make-up tips. Optional:Quizzes. Thanks.
Answer: there are lots of magazines for teens/preteens ! such as , seventeen , cosmo girl , teen Vogue ,Girl's Life Magazine , Twist ,allure
J-14 , Elle Girl , Teen , plus many more !
here are some good websites for magazines below !
Question: What are some careers in the fashion industry that do not require you to be an artist/designer type? I know that sounds confusing and stupid but...
I love clothes and fashion, even though I'm not artistic or the designer type. I just wanna be around the fashion industry. I'm planning on majoring in business, or marketing in college, so what jobs in fashion could I get with either of those? I love fashion more than anything and I want to be around it
Answer: you can become a buyer for stores or work as a sales rep. as a buyer you get to choose clothing for stores- which can be a lot if hard but brings a lot of pressure. sales is just as pressured, and buyers get paid more.
Question: How can I start being a fashion and beauty girl? I'm 13 and I love fashion and beauty, but I just don't know how to be a fashionista/ fashion and beauty girl! I'm doing this for myself, by the way! What magazines do I read, make -up, any recommended stores, clothing lines, clothes, shoes, accessories, purses (I already have a small Coach Purse), what do fashionistas obsess over (except for fashion and beauty duh!), how do they act, any recommended books (fiction or nonfiction), what do they say a lot, what celebrities are their role models, how do I get great fashionista-baby soft skin, any bedroom (bathroom) make-overs, and any other suggestions are cool! I don't want to be self-centered or mean, I am really nice actually.
Sorry, that's a lot of stuff, but I just love fashion, just don't know how to put it!
Advice would be awesome!
Answer: Read TeenVogue, it's the best way to follow the fashion trends. People and Instyle have fashion updates for people your age sometimes. Keep your make-up safe, and clean with a glow that makes you the way you are. Don't make it too dramatic. Even out your make up; maybe a little bit of mascara, eyeliner, a touch of eyeshadow, a little bit of blush, and some gloss will do. Guys don't like it when girls have too much make up. I personally don't like Forever21 because their clothes are cheap material so I recommend that you shop at Nordstroms, Urban Outfitters, and H&M. Always dress according to the ocasio and weather, keep your accessories cute, never mix&match, but don't over accessorize. These days, the bigger the better. Don't carry around a dinky little purse, get your oufit to look more fabulous by carrying a purse that has a lot of room and style to it. Jeans are very important. I love Citizens of Humanity, True Religions, and William Rast jeans. Do not get jeans that are too tight. You'll get a muffin top which means that your fats goes over your jeans beacause your jeans are too tight. It was stated on E!'s 50 fashion do and don't. Make sure to keep the length right, and the butt area looking fit. I use Nu Skin, which is not a very well known brand, but it is the best. I was breaking out one time, I applyed some facial acne creame, the next day it was gone. And for your make up, go to Sephora, not MAC. MAC makes you look like a cake face. GOOD LUCK!
Question: How do fashion designers forcast fashion and how many season ahead do they do it for? I just wondered how fashion designers etc do this. I am curious as I hear about it all the time but wanted more information.
Answer: they are the ones who create the fashion, they design the trends. it's high street brands and people in advertising who do the forecasting, based on what the lovely designers give them.
they normally design a two seasons ahead. but they only come out on the catwalks one season before.
so the spring/summer collection will come out in winter. but the designers will be on the next autumn/winter collection.
Question: What is happening to the fashion industry? It has become so dull. The only Designers that are actually 'fashion'are Rodarte, Alexander Mcqueen and viktor and rolf.
What are your opinions?
It also seems that every one wants to be in the fashion industry because of those asinine fashion shows on Bravo, MTV and Lifetime.
Answer: Slowly, reality TV shows will act like a toxic cancer within the industry of focus. It happened with the food industry first: Every kid that saw Bobby Flay, Emerill, etc.... wanted to BAM their way into fame and success. No one told them that even if they went to culinary school, they would still have to start for $8 an hour chopping onions and tomatoes.
The other thing that is happening in fashion is something that took place in film not too long ago: The creative types and designers who once ran the business of fashion have been marginalized and replaced with number crunchers and business folk. The hope is that they can be more profit minded and have more success. Its counter intuitive sometimes...the decisions on a business that's product is the result of a creative process and they are ill-equipped to do so....hence the failure. They wont take responsibility for the decline in profit, they will blame the creative types and budgets will be cut, R & D will get slashed, junkets will be stopped, travel will be impeded. Fashion is not the industry where a company will do better in the end by tightening the noose or penny pinching.
So everyone wants to be a designer and a model now and its life, Its metamorphosis and there isn't anything one can do to change it....or is there? Perhaps now is the time for true, hard core innovation and street level marketing with guerrilla style marketing and exposure tactics? And by the way, street level these days means, Facebook, Twitter and any other social media avenue that can be navigated and mapped for business and "buzz"
