Soluble fibre is fiber that will dissolve in water most commonly found in fruit and used as energy in the body. It collects in a gel like mass in the intestinal tract and slows down the transit of food to help nutrient absorption.
Insoluble fibre is basically roughage like bran. This stays in the stomach and intestine absorbing liquid and expanding slightly. As it passes through the digestive tract it gently scrapes away any deposits and cleans the tract as it passes through.
Both are essential to a happy digestive system. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and wholemeal foods you shouldn't need to supplement.

Answer: The physical limitations of what can be pushed through fiber optic cables has not been reached yet. New techniques are still being developed to squeeze and compress and run different wavelengths of light across fiber optic cables in order to increase the speed and amount of data that can be pushed across the cables.
Here in Japan, fiber optic to the home is already being offered for cable and internet service. With IP Phone offereings already out there (Skype, Vonage, etc), you can eventually eliminate the copper wires coming into your home for those services provided you have a provider that can support you.
Inside the home is another issue. Copper wire is still the cheapest and most sensible thing to put inside a house aside from wireless technology. Fiber optic equipment is very expensive--too expensive for the home right now.
Give it a few more years (maybe 50) and perhaps everything will be light driven--at least until they find something else to use!

Answer: It is recommended that you eat at least 30g of fibre per day (but people eating less than that should increase it slowly).
Dietary fibre is all the fibre that you eat (eg soluble fibre PLUS insoluble fibre)
Insoluble fibre does not dissolve in water it's main role is to provide bulk in the intestine (helping to prevent constipation)
Soluble fibre does dissolve in water and forms a gel in the intestine. This also helps to prevent constipation but also can help to decrease cholesterol (cholesterol binds to the gel and isn't absorbed into the blood). Insoluble fibre is found in a large amounts in most of fruit and vegies.

I keep buying these Fiber-rich cereals but their fiber content is not enough to satisfy the daily quota. How do I include the right amount of fiber in my diet? I mean without being expensive.
Answer: that's a great question. Woman and Men need 20-35g of fiber per day. That's a LOT of fiber. In general you want to get your fiber from a variety of sources - and as many natural sources as possible.
Good sources include:
Green Beans, Fruits like Apples, Oranges, etc. dried beans, hummus, ..., you can also supplement with sources like Fiber One or metamucil.
But, if you eat about 1 cup of beans per day (in any form) you're more likely to hit your daily target.

Dietary fiber can be soluble (able to dissolve in water) or insoluble (not able to dissolve in water). Soluble fiber, like all fiber, cannot be digested. But it does change as it passes through the digestive tract, being transformed (fermented) by bacteria there. Soluble fiber also absorbs water to become a gelatinous substance that passes through the body. Insoluble fiber has bulking action but is mostly unchanged by fermentation as it passes through the body.

Pre diabetes is Insulin resistance and you need to have a low carb diet 20-30 carbs a day.
Carbohydrates are simply long chains of sugar molecules hooked end-to-end. When a person eats carbohydrates their normal digestive process breaks up these chains into the individual sugar molecules, and they pass right through the intestinal wall into the bloodstream, and load up the bloodstream with sugar.
If this happened every once in a while it would not be a problem. But as diets today are so high in carbohydrates, people have a constant high level of sugar pouring into their bloodstream year after year!

Fibers can't be digested when u eat them, due to the lack of specific enzymes in the body to digest them, soo they are found to facilitate the proccess of digestion, & they help the digested food move easily in the small intestine!!!!!!

How long does it take for fiber to digest? I guess not long since it just ruins through the intestines right?
Answer: Human enzymes cannot digest fiber so it passes through the small intestine into the colon. This is good because fiber adds bulk to the stool that makes elimination easier and helps keep the colon healthy, and yes it makes you feel full and is very healthy for you.
