Question: What are some low carbohydrate foods that you like? What is the best low carbohydrate meals or dressings you perfer? I'm just fishing around for something interesting to satify my taste buds.
I should mention I'm not interested in anything high in fat(7+ grams). I understand fats go up when carbs go down and vice versa but sometimes there is the rare dressing or food that is low in both and that is what I'm looking for.
Answer: Low-fat cheese sticks, sauerkraut, egg whites scrambled with salsa, lean beef meatballs seasoned with taco mix, for a salad dressing use 1 cup light sour cream with 1 cup salsa, low fat cream cheese on celery.
Question: What are some foods that are low in carbohydrates? A lot of nutritionists say that it's unhealthy to eat carbohydrates after 6 o'clock in the evening, therefore, I was wondering, could anybody please list some foods/meals that are low in carbohydrates?

Question: identify the following. foods allowed to eat in low carbohydrates and foods are not?
give me an example of foods allowed and foods not allowed in carbohydrates
Answer: Check out the Atkins website http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkins-phases/phase-one/acceptable-foods for a page with acceptable foods for the first 2 wks of their diet. These are VERY low or no carb foods.
You can also check carb count on other foods by going to calorielab.com and looking up the food in question. It'll tell you calories, carbs, fat, etc.
Be aware that although one can lose weight on a low carb diet, it often comes right back when you get off the diet. Eat a healthy balance of foods, including (healthy) complex carbs such as those found in whole grain products (nothing white).

Question: Which foods are low in carbohydrates?
Answer: There are a number of misinformed posters below. There are three food content categories, carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Carb's are found in simple and complex forms. Simple carbs are sugars, complex carbs are starches which are reduce during digestion into simple carbs, eventually glucose! Pretty much all vegetables are comprised of carbs to a greater or lesser degree, depending upon how much indigestible fiber they contain.
Meats and Cheeses would contain few or no carbs.
Funghi such as mushrooms are low or contain now carbs.
Fiberous vegetables such as beans and carrots are low in carbs.
Fruits are all high in carbs, containing a mix of simple sugars and more complex carbs.

Question: What are some low carb foods? I just realized that lately I have been exercising routinely but still am not able to get that little belly fat I have off. I want to go on a low carbohydrate diet so that the fat can be burned. I just don't know what food to eat when going on these kind of diets. Can someone please recommend me what food to eat that has no carbohydrates at all. Also, should I go on a carbohydrate free diet or is that not possible? Thanks in advance for your answers.
Answer: The only food that is totally carb free is meat. Most vegetables are very low in carbs. Avoid potatos, corn, and carrots. All types of bread, pasta, and fruit are loaded with carbs.
Question: How Long Will It Take To Start Losing Weight? I am a female, 23 years old, and need to lose 70 lbs. I have been on a diet for about two and a half weeks now. I walk 3.0 miles in one hour per day on a tred mill, do leg streches, about 100 crunches, and lift five pount weights every other day 50 times per arm. I also do some pilates. I drink about 6 bottles of water a day, and limit my meals to a cup os cereal and dinner, which conists of protein foods, low startch/no carbohydrates, and only one small serving. I feel that I am more muscular (i deffinately have more muscle in my arms and legs now), but the scale is still reading the same. When will I start to lose poundage/fat?
Answer: You are already. You are loosing fat and gaining muscle, which is a good thing. You should skip the scale so much and use a measuring tape.
I'm doing the diet thing, but not the exercise thing, and I've lowered my calorie intake for three days and I've lost one pound; so it's working, you're just building muscle (good) which will help you burn more calories too!!! You should eat more if you're only eating two meals a day! I don't think that's enough at all.
Kudos to you!!!
Question: Can you do lemonade diet and at the same time eat healthy? I made some searches about this diet and it is very good since your body can detoxifies and "It can help you to lose weight, too". I do not believe that so much truly but I believe that it would be more healthy to add some healthy food (proteins, fibers, a little of carbohydrates. also some food low in calories)
what do you Think?
Ahh and OBVI, EXERCISING ALOT!!!!
Answer: My experience with lemonade is a succesful one.
I did experience around 10 pounds decrease after 14 days.
However I strongly urge you to consume more fibres and nutritions, especially from vegetarian ingredients.
Fruits, vegetables and a little of WHOLE GRAIN bread can help you survive.
If I may share, I strongly discourage the consumption of Salt water flush. The salt - water mixture.
Here's what i found about it, and I didn't do the salt water flush either.
"Avoid the salt water flush (SWF) where you are supposed to drink salt water which will then come out a half hour later where solid waste comes out. This is very unhealthy for you. The reason that it passes right through you, without you digesting it, is because it is toxic for you to digest it. This is why many complain that it tastes terrible and makes them feel sick and want to vomit."

Question: anybody suggest foods with 15g carbohydrates // low sugars? can anybody suggest foods&amounts with 15g of carbohydrates that i can treat low blood sugars with. i know its normally 4-5 glucose tablets & we started the week with four packets of them, but now i'm down to only one, and we are unable to get out to the pharmacy for them due to the snow that the UK is suffering from right now. we really can't risk it. i have suffered a few hypoglycemic attacks this week, and am new to an insulin pump. we have jelly babies on hand too, but incase we can't get out in the next couple of days, can you suggest anything else, milk maybe? thankyou so much.
please don't tell me i'm stupid for not stocking up. we haven't been able to get out since we started with four packets of glucose tablets & we thought that would be enough. & the snow is also getting worse as we speak.
Answer: Bux has some very good ideas but never use chocolate for a low sugar as the fat content slows the release of carbs .
A whole fruit can also be a problem as the fiber has the same effect.
Go for fruit juices or regular sodas.
Some times I use cereal and milk.
I have never found 15 carbs working for me.
If i have a very low sugar-under 70 for me- I go right to the regular soda. i keep some just for that use and everyone else knows not to touch it.
A low sugar makes thinking rationally impossible.Find a food and stick to it. That way there is no thinking involved.
Good luck.

Question: What are some foods that are very low in carbohydrates?
Answer: Green Veggies are low, and meats are generally low.
this is a great website, has any food you can think of....lowcarbfriends.com
Question: can "ATKINS-low carbohydrates" diet help ?....? i mean does low-carbohydrated food help loose weight.... if soo then in whom (men or women) and how does it explain !!!................
Answer: Generally speaking, if you are an inactive and obese, Atkins and other low-carb diets are great (south beach, etc...) However if you are not obese or diabetic then what you should do is eat a healthy high protein diet coupled with "good" carbs, such as brown rice, multi-grain breads...This is because is you work out, you will need both the protein and the carbs to replenish as opposed to the carb-restricting diets (which are not for people who exercise, generally speaking)...best advise is to research and learn what good carbs are, and incorporate them into your higher protein diet....good luck
Question: Are there any foods that are low in carbs AND low in fat? Are there any foods that are low in carbohydrates and low in fat?
I'm not looking to lose weight, I just want to know what foods are low in carbs AND low in fat. Thanks!
Answer: A low carb diet needs to be a high fat diet. If you eat foods low in fat, you need to add additional fat to them to raise their fat level.
Fat will not make you fat. Dietary fat is totally benign without carbs & it's impossible to store fat if your dietary fat levels are above 80% of total calories. Fat is essential to good health. The body can not make vitamins & minerals bioavailable to be incorporated into the body structure without dietary fat.
If you eat a low carb, low fat diet, you will make protein your fuel source. While carbs may be optional, fuel calories are not but they can come from fat or carbs, but not protein. If you eat only meats without sufficient fuel calories from fats or carbs, then you convert dietary protein to fuel leaving no protein for cellular needs, forcing the body to catabolize it's own lean tissues.
If you don't keep your calories high enough, the body will strip it's own lean tissue for nutrition. Although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier to accumulate fat in the future (since all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories will be gone).
Protein is a very inefficient fuel to use exclusively for long term & the byproducts of the conversion to fuel can be dangerous if they overwhelm the body faster than the body can clear out the nitrogen & ammonia..
Just for example - Someone asked "what if" about a diet of 500g of pure protein (2000 calories a day)
500g protein with no fat would be fatal. Fat is essential but protein without fat will cause diarrhea & then death. So this next bit is only hypothetically speaking.
500g of protein only would turn the protein into a fuel source and not be able to be used for tissue repairs & cellular regeneration. So although you would think 500g of protein would be sufficient for these needs, it would be converted to a very inefficient fuel source with a dangerous buildup of nitrogen & ammonia (byproducts of gluconeogenesis). The body can handle some of these byproducts but not large quantities for long term. So in essence, all this protein would be processed as fuel and the body would STILL have to catabolize it's own lean tissues for a protein source. 100% of the protein would be needed to convert to 58% glucose - it would be equal to fueling the body with 1160 calories of carbs and NO protein (IF your only ingestion was 2000 calories (500g) in pure protein).
It's confusing to eat SO much protein and have none bioavailable but your body requires FUEL calories (which can come from fat OR carbs or both) AND protein.
BUT if you ate more than sufficient protein with more than sufficient dietary fat calories AND controlled carbs to less than 9grams per hour. (Maximum carbs would be 144grams day or 576 calories - the balance of fuel calories would HAVE to be from dietary fats - at 9 calories per gram)
As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories because insulin, the fat storage hormone is not activated. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones & allow sex hormones (testosterone in males) & human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean tissue will be gained even without exercise.
from the article below -
Numerous current studies show that dieters who follow high-protein low-carb strategies--even plans with higher fat intake--lose more fat and maintain or gain more muscle mass than dieters who rely on higher carb diets.
Yes, you read that right--many dieters actually gained muscle mass without working out, simply by eating a high-protein diet. This is due to several factors. First, amino acids from protein drive muscle growth. When you consume a high-protein meal, amino acids from the protein travel to muscle cells and actually initiate the processes that cause muscle growth.
