Question: How is bacteria killed in fruit juice to make it safe for unrefrigerated store shelves? There are several types of packaging for fruit juice for unrefrigerated store shelves. The oldest common one is the 46 ounce can. What happens with the 46 ounce can to kill the bacteria? Most cans of most types of food get cooked in the sealed can. But fruit juice isn't the type of food that would normally be cooked. So what do they do instead? And what about the other types of packaging, such as sealed plastic bottles?
Answer: They do "cook" or boil the juice and water anyway, and it's sealed in the containers in a sterile environment.
Question: How many liters of pure fruit juice does she need to add? Lisa will make punch that is 25% fruit juice by adding pure fruit juice to a 2-liter mixture that is 10% pure fruit juice.
Answer: the composition is currently 200ml pure to 1800ml, let amount of pure too add=x
(0.2+x)/(2+x)=0.25
0.2+x=0.25*(2)+0.25x
.75x=.5-.2
x=0.4
therefore she must add 0.4 litres.
600/2400 is 25%
Question: How do you make passion fruit juice? I'm trying to find out how passion fruit juice is made. I think it involves something like cuttiing the thing and then scooping the seeds out. I've seen my neighbor do it. ANd I just stole some passion fruit from his vine.
Answer: Don't steal. Go ask your neighbor if you can have some. The best way to juice the fruit is to cut it open, scoop out the seeds inside and throw the seeds into a juicer. If you don't have a juicer, you can substitute by blending and then straining the solids.

Question: Is drinking fruit juice the equivelant of eating fruit? Is drinking a glass or two of apple juice the same as eating two apples or something? My mom tells me to eat fruit, but I drink fruit juice instead. Is fruit juice just as good as fruit?
Answer: No. But "Naked Juice" makes some pretty good smoothies. They contain 100% real fruit and not just concentrates. The percentages are found above the nutrition labels. Aim for those that are 100%........................................But there's nothing that can replace the fruit itself.
Question: Which is better in goodness? Using a juice extractor or eating the fruit as it is? Juice extractors separate the skin and fruit pulp from the juice extracted.
Isn't it better if we eat the fruit whole because some fruit skins contain flavenoids? Of course, we need to wash and clean the fruit well to rid it from wax and other contaminants.
I understand that extracted fruit juices are more digestible and contain enzymes. Thankyou.
Answer: Depends on the person. Some people cant eat the fruits themselves. I personally prefer the juices because otherwise I couldnt eat enough fruits to get the same amount.

Question: How much actual fructose is in fruit juice? What are the proportions of fructose, sucrose and glucose in fruit juices like grape juice, orange juice and apple juice? If you know a website with this information, please let me know.
Answer: That will depend on which kind of fruit you're talking about. Orange and grape juice have a lot more than cranberry juice. Then there's the high fructose corn syrup which is added to it when it's bottled.

Question: Is fruit juice from concentrate still good for you? I know that fresh fruit juice is best for you, but does juice from concentrate still carry any nutritional value?
Answer: Juice from concentrate is exactly that - concentrated juice. Like anything edible you put in your mouth it carries nutritional value, but the important thing is the macronutrient split on the carton. Juices are ultra high in sugar so you REALLY have to becareful to make sure you're not drinking too much. Have a look at the nutrional values on it, if they're too high - limit what you drink. Put it in perspective - I weigh in at 210lbs and try to consume no more than 210-250g of carbs a day. If you weigh less than you'll need less carbs.
