Fruits
Question: Fruits???????????????? My frends and me were at the market together and we saw fruits!!! Amazing huh!? Then we had a fight on which fruit was harder to take the skin off. Me and one of my friends said apples but my other 3 friends said kiwi! Which one is harder to take the skin off?? Who was right? Was i or them stupid??? Thxs!
Answer: Ooh, definelty apples. you can peel a kiwi with your nails, and it may be a bit messy, but very simple. Try peeling an apple with just your nails. even with a knife you have to go around in a million circles, and at the end, half of the apple is gone. I think you were right.
Question: FRUITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? If you can be any fruit....which one would you be?

Answer: GRAPEFRUIT! so when people try to cut me, my burning citrus juice will get in their eye! haha NO ONE EATS ME!
Question: What kind of fruits and veggies are good for my fish? I have 2 Shubunkin goldfish in my tank, and I read online that fruits and vegetables are good for them to eat in addition to their regular flake food. I feed them once every two days, no more than they can eat in three minutes, and I need a list of fruits and vegetables that are good for them, how large I should cut them, how often I should give them the fruits and vegetables, whether or not I should feed them the fruits and vegetables simultaneously, and whether or not I should in addition to the flake food, or separately. Thanks.
Answer: I've got a Common Goldfish that's about 11 yrs. old. He's currently 14" long, and gets a varied diet. I also have friends who follow this same diet. Im pretty sure this can be followed for all "goldfish types", as a friend of mine has Oranda's and feeds the same diet.
My goldie gets; Zucchini, Cucumber, Carrots and Romaine Lettuce. That's it for veggies. I havent tried any fruits, as I've heard that some can contaminate the water, such as oranges, or any citrus fruits, as they're too "acidic". He also gets Brine Shrimp, Krill, Bloodworms and Tubifex.
These are varied throughout each day. And only small bits, not too large that he cant eat them. Whatever is uneaten in about 10 mins. is removed. I know most people will tell you to remove uneaten portions within 5 mins., but I've stuck to my 10 min. rule for over 10 yrs. now.
I hope this helps. And goodluck!!
Question: What fruits and veggies are good for different vitamins? Would any of you be able to provide a list of all the vitamins with some examples of different fruits and veggies that contain high sources of them?
Like for instance the first part may look like this:
Vitamin A: (fruit), (fruit), (veggie)
I am beginning cross country again and really want to eat healthy while doing it. I know where to get proteins (like in egg and meat) and fiber and stuff like that. I just need help with the vitamins.
Answer: Citrus fruits for Vitamin C: Oranges
Lemons
Limes
Tangerines
Peaches
Grapefruits
Grapes
Did I also mention apples? Well... those, too.
Bananas have always been very popular. They are
good for Potassium--and for monkeying around with
your blender to make a smoothie.
(Cherries and Kiwis would be exceptionally good
for a smoothies; but be sure to get rid of all of the
cherries' pits first. They're of no nutritional value.)
As for vegetables, wow. Sorry. Too many good ones
there, to list, here. But, I hope that helps.

Where do cultivated & seedless fruits come in at
example bananas in the wild have seeds in them while most bananas sold are cultivated and dont have seeds
Are they still a fruit as well as other fruits that dont have seeds because of cultivation or genect modification.
The defintion of fruits having seeds would exclude those right ?
Answer: Still a fruit; no seeds due to genetic modification.

Question: What are the best 2 fruits for someone trying to lose weight? I eat an apple with breakfast and a banana as a snack every day, I generally don't like fruit as I find it very sweet-sour, but I enjoy apples and bananas.
Are these good fruit choices? What fruits are best?
I don't mean that eating the fruit will help me lose weight, more that they will give me the nutrients I need.
Answer: As for the apples, you can snack away all you want, but as for the bananas, just be careful not to eat too many bananas, as they contain a substantial amount of carbohydrates. Very healthy, but I wouldn't suggest eating 3 or 4 bananas a day. Most fruits have virtually zero carbs, and this is great for weight loss.
Question: What fruits and vegetables are good for energy and weight loss? I am in need to lose some pounds (as prescribed by my doctor for my TTC journey) and I searched online for fruits and veggies that could give me energy and some weight loss. Does anyone know which fruits and veggies could help me loss weight and give me energy?
Answer: I have been through it all and know what's it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can't be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I've worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.
Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.
First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can't eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising...
This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it's good for the heart.
However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It's so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I've found a great addition to help any one out, it's a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don't get all crazy on me and say diet pills don't work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn't meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It's an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at theweightlossplace .com along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it's the best pill I've tried and I've tried cupboards full. Now this doesn't mean you have to follow my foot steps but I've successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.
Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.
Question: Can you make fruit salad using frozen fruits after they have thawed? Do the fruits get mushy or anything and do they hold up? I've made salad before, just never using frozen fruits.
Answer: I find that all frozen fruits get at least a little mushy when they thaw, so I normally use them cooked or just by themselves as a dessert. Canned fruits work well when the fresh fruits aren't available.
Question: What do we call the fruits that are removed from the plant/tree in the thinning treatment? I've seen the expressions "leftover fruits" and "thinned fruits" but, within the contexts I saw them, I understand they mean the "fruits which remain on the tree or plant". I would like to know how to refer to the fruits that are removed from the trees and are usually discarded.
Answer: In southern UK they are called simply 'thinnings'.

Question: Which specific fruits and vegetables are the most nutritious and meaningful to eat? They always say to eat your fruits and vegetables, but there are so many of them and I don't know which ones to buy. Can someone tell me which fruits and vegetables are the most important to eat to provide the most nutrients your body needs?
Answer: What a great question. There are those who think that five servings of french fries qualifies as their five servings of vegetables for the day. Many folks don't eat the proper amount of fruits and veggies, so if they eat only a limited amount, then the ones they do eat should pack a real nutritional punch.
The following lists can help add nutritional quality to your diet. I looked at variety and quantity of key vitamins and minerals, the amount of fiber, plus beta-carotene and phytochemicals -- those non-nutritive components that have disease-fighting benefits. The description of nutritional benefits highlight their strengths, but this list is not all-inclusive.
Top Five Fruits:
Watermelon: Loads of vitamin C and carotenoids, good amount of fiber, and low in calories.
Papaya: Loads of vitamin C and carotenoids, great source of potassium and fiber.
Orange: Great vitamin C and folate, and plenty of fiber if you eat the whole fruit and not just the juice.
Grapefruit (pink or red): Loads of vitamin C and carotenoids, good amount of fiber of the cholesterol lowering type, pectin, plus it contains phytochemicals such as flavonoids, terpenes, and limonoids.
Apricots: They are brimming with beta-carotene, have loads of potassium and fiber, and contribute some vitamin C to the diet. Dried apricots don't have the vitamin C, but are a good source of iron. Canned apricots have only half the vitamin C and beta- carotene as fresh.
Top Five Vegetables:
Spinach: Great source of beta-carotene, vitamin C, folate, iron, potassium, and calcium.
Sweet Potatoes: Loads of potassium, vitamin C, beta-carotene, and fiber.
Collard greens: Superb source of beta-carotene, member of the cruciferous family of vegetables, known for their cancer prevention power, loads of vitamin C and folate, good source of calcium and fiber.
Carrots: Loads of beta-carotene, and fiber.
Sweet Red Pepper: A great source of vitamin C, beta-carotene, and fiber.
Question: What would stop a tree from bearing fruits then give fruits after being hit with something? This is hard to believe but I have heard several people that say that if a tree stops bearing fruit, then hitting the tree with a tree branch such as apples branch will make it bear fruits again. Several people say that this has worked for them.I have heard different people say this but is there some other factor going on?What would cause a tree to stop bearing fruits for years and suddenly bear fruits when being hit with something?
Answer: Trees might not bear fruit for a year because there was a late freeze that killed all the flowers. The next year they would have fruit. People could hit it with almost anything and it really wouldn't make any difference. Sounds like an "old wive's tale".
Question: What are the best fruits to buy in the winter? It seems to me like all the fruit i buy in the winter tastes awful. Unless i get lucky, the oranges are bad, he strawberries are awful, and cantaloupes are just repulsive. I think i might be trying to buy the wrong fruits for this season. What are some good fruits to buy in the winter? I don't know if it makes a difference, but I live in Maryland and i usually shop at safeway/giant/food lion, etc. I dont like apples and bananas.
Answer: Ryan,
Generally, fruit in the winter does not taste good because (a): it is out of season and (b)anything in your store was shipped a looong way to get to you.
Soft fruits like peaches, nectarines, plums and grapes come from Chili during the winter and normally have to be picked before they are ripe in order to withstand the long distance shipping.
Clementines have phenomenal flavor right now and only very rarely do you get a bad one. it's tough to pick a good ornage, but if it is heavy for its size it will be juicy and this late in the season you really should be getting sweet ones.
Also check out some of the more off-beat varieties of apples like Galas, Fujis, Sonyas, Pink Ladies and Honey Crisps,
Florida strawberries were hurt by the freeze so the ones you are getting back east again, were picked before they hit their peak flavor so they could ship further. Also the varieties that are grown in cold weather normally just do not have the best flavor.
For an availability guide of what is seasonal in your area, check out www.locavore network.com . The sources listed below are for pages that tell you how to select good fruit and what is in season for an Eastern state.
