Goji Berry Fruits
Question: PA tree, 20 ft, hardy, leaves: veins from rib, curl into ovals: red oval 4 cm fruit in July What is it? The fruit looks like goji berries. The tree is very sturdy, kids climb in it but the branches are close together. Leaves are about 3 in long, oval coming to a point. Mostly we wonder if these fruits are poisonous or helpful. The fruit is very pretty. Very attractive. Was here when we moved in.
Answer: Is it a Mulberry Tree?

If so, they're edible, although better in tarts or jam than eaten off the tree.
Question: How can i make my cold go away faster? Will eating loads of fruit and veggies (and goji berries) over the weekend, drinking alot of water, exercising and sleeping alot make my cold go away by monday when i start my new job?
Answer: what i do is drink alot of orange juice. buy one one those large Sunny D bottles, and drink throughout the day. Or even eat oranges. i also take some nyQuil (or any type of nighttime cold reliever) at night. I stay active (meaning, im not in bed). i walk around my house or go outside and do errands. You may feel lousy, but its better if move around rather than crawling in bed immobile all day and night. I've been doing this every time i get a cold and my colds last for a couple of days. I really think the key is the Vitamin C, so drink that oj. Also, if you have a stuffed or runny nose, make sure you are blowing your nose constantly. you dont want that mucus accumulating in you. You want all that bad stuff OUT of your body.
Question: Goji Berries scam or not & where to buy? I see quite a bit of hype around these coming from people who are also selling them. Has there been any real testing done on them? Or is this another would be super food scam?
I would like to try some but they see really pricey I doubt I'll buy them off the web.
Are these berries or juice hitting supermarkets in the Midwest yet? I can buy Pomigrantie fruit and juice from the grocery store.
Another issue I have is buying food from China. They have a habit of poisoning people, Antifreeze in toothpaste, bacterria in honey, and lead in tea leaves.
THANKS FOR THE USELESS ANSWERS SO FAR.
Answer: The goji berries (also called wolfberries) are best if they come from the farming county in China called Ningxia (pronounced ninja) Search for Dr Gary Young of Young Living, lots of clinical studies have been done and they have lots of information. You can find the dried berries at Costco, health food places.
China is a big country. Just like U.S., there are friendlier regions, and not so friendly regions of the country. NOT all Chinese are malicious, and NOT every single white U.S. southerner is KKK.
Question: How long would it take me to get reasonably toned? any ideas? Hey peeps! this is my first question (woo)
ANYWAY!
I was just wondering.. I'm 21 years old. I weigh 94kg (207lbs) and am a bit tubby (im 6"0 and fairly broadly built as well) I've recently decided to take charge and start to tone up like I've wanted to for years.
I have quit smoking, and have started going to the gym 3 times a week and jogging every other day, on top of eating healthier and taking a few dietary supplements to help out (eg. whey protein powder, which also will help as im a vegetarian)
Ive also included more veges and dried fruits (goji berries.. apricots etc) as well as fresh fruits into my diet.
Basically what I'm trying to get at.. is how long would it take for me to actually start getting some visual muscular definition? Ive always been a bit self conscious and want this to help my own self esteem. So far ive gradually moulded to this routine since about a month ago but now it is much more strict.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Thank you :)
(p.s. in this short amount of time ive started feeling RIDICULOUSLY better! its amazing!)
Answer: yeah good work dude.. glad u are making a big effort here to look better
if u workout hard.. meaning weight training 5 - 6 days a week for 40 - 60 mins....
and your cardio say 4 - 5 times a week for 30 - 40 mins.. u can bank on getting good fast results..
u do not have to workout for long long sessions... but u need alot of working out..
also.. u need more protiens, and less carbs.. u just need enough carbs for energy and functioning.... the fruit is great.. but do not over do the fruit as it has alot of sugar.. even though its natural
supplments like omega 369, phyto berry powder, HGH liquid and whey protein are good for you to become leaner and stronger
6 - 8 weeks u are going to see good results.. and lets say 6 - 8 months u will have a new you :)
Question: How do they measure antioxidant ORAC scale? What are tools used? How many ORAC units does the per-pound body needs daily to neutralize aging? Among high antioxidant fruits and vitamines like ACE, goji, pomegranate, berries, prune, cordycept and reishi mushroom, and many others, which one has highest ORAC? Thanks.
Answer: Very well, where do I begin.
1) i see flaws with this ORAC jive in terms of how the study was done.
2) I understand sort of how its done to a degree, but you would need extensive background in chem to understand i would think. So in laymen's terms: its magic.
3) Nothing will neutralise aging because an excess of antioxidants can be deleterious (there's a reason we have oxidants)... the best antioxidant is not one measured on this scale--- its a supplement called n-acetyl cysteine.
ACE are good vitamins, but E is probably the best. Regardless your body won't use excess vitamins you ingest, it will filter them out in your urine.
4) acai berry. good luck finding that. so just eat raw fruits and veggies and get NAC. my $.02
aging is inevitable.
Question: What do you think of my diet menu - Kinda long if you wanna read it I eat up to 5 or 6 times a day... usually three medium meals, such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with two to three small snacks in between:
Breakfast:
- Whole Grain Cereal (I looooooove Kashi Go Lean Crunch) with some almond milk and ground flax seeds and some fresh fruit like bananas...
or
- Salmon cakes with an egg white omelet topped with sauteed tomatoes and fresh avocado, with fresh spinach drizzled with lemon juice and a piece of whole grain toast with olive oil.... plus a berry smoothie (with green tea, fresh orange, goji berries, acai, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries... and sometimes blackberries)
or
- Oatmeal with Almond milk, almonds or walnuts, dried or fresh fruit (such as cranberries, raisins or diced apple - tastes like apple pie) with cinnamon and flax seed (for a healthy omega-3 fat)
or
- Whole grain pancakes with either blueberries or banana, walnut in them, or plain... topped with either honey, syrup (you have to look for natural maple syrup though... not corn syrup processed stuff) or fresh whipped cream sweetened with Equal (but Stevia's best) and fresh strawberries or strawberry or blueberry sauce... or bananas foster... Plus... you can make healthy chocolate chip pancakes using "carob" in place of chocolate chips (just learned that today and wanna try it)....
Snacks (which I eat 2 to 3 times a day between my Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner):
- Green Tea (I drink at least 3 to 4 cups every day - though I had to work my way up to it cause it could be intense at first as it's a natural diuretic - makes you pee)
- Handful of Nuts with some Dried Fruit (tart cherries, "unsweetened" are very good for you)
or
- Yogurt Parfait (with either fresh or lightly sweetened berries or peaches with some granola/muesli - which I make myself - and ground flaxseed - for a healthy fat)
or
- Spirulina, Chlorella Smoothie (with both blue-green algaes, mango, apple, banana, pineapple, and kiwi all mixed in a blender... with fiber from apple skins and all)
or
- Chocolate-Chocolate-Chip Smoothie (with cacao powder - which is raw chocolate in its unprocessed state... basically unprocessed cocoa bean - some cocao nibs - which take on the consistency of chocolate chips in this smoothie - some almond milk, 1/2 a banana and some ground flax... all blended in a blender for a DELICIOUS creamy treat *lol*)
or
- Pumpkin Smoothie (with unsweetened canned pumpkin and some almond milk, sweetener, and pumpkin pie spice or just allspice, ground cloves, nut meg, cinnamon, etc.)
or
- Peanut Butter Smoothie (with all-natural, unsweetend Peanut Butter - I like "Smuckers" brand - some almond milk, sweetener and some fiber with "Psyllium husks" - I get my fiber from "DrNatura")
or
- A Wheatgrass shot (I have my own "Wheatgrass juicer" since you can't just use an ordinary juicer because the speed will destroy the natural enzymes in the wheatgrass)
or
- A "Green Smoothie" (which is nothing more than a smoothie that contains both fruits and vegetables together)
or
- Fresh Juice from my juicer (my favorite is carrot, apple, ginger... I love it!)
or
- Some whole grain pastries and baked goods (Wholefoods sells lots of whole grain stuff or I make them myself... I love healthy biscotti)
Lunch:
- A falafel (with tzatziki sauce)
or
- A wrap (with boneless chicken, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing)
or
- Lentil Chili
or
- Sandwiches... like a turkey and swiss sandwich on whole grain bread with lettuce, tomato, and sprouts... with a little mayo... and some soup (which I make myself and freeze)... or I'll have a tuna sandwich with some chips or lemon soup (which is just some chicken soup with lemon juice in it - my favorite) or I make a Reuben sandwich (with pastrami and saurkraut with Russian dressing) or a chicken B.L.T or regular B.L.T sandwich....
or
- I'll just have some Ramen noodles with Eggs (like an Egg Drop style soup) with some fresh Spinach cooked in....
or
- A whole grain pizza (I buy my own whole wheat flour and yeast to make my own crust - I also would like to make my own mozzarela but haven't done it yet... you can add artichoke hearts, proscuitto, sundried tomatoes, parmesan, whatever toppings you like)
Dinner:
- A salad with grilled or breaded chicken (with spinach, carrot shreds, tomato, cucumber, avocado, cheddar cheese, turkey bacon, hard-boiled egg, whole grain croutons, and either ranch or honey mustard dressing)... or I'll have a buffalo wing salad (with boneless, grilled chicken tossed in hot sauce and served over a bed of romaine with celery and carrot shredds and blue cheese dressing)... or a shrimp or scallop salad (with fried, breaded shrimps or scallops, or both, served over a bed of mixed greens with a little bit of fresh lemon juice and olive oil and a side of tartar sauce with capers and a slice of whole grain baguette)... If I'm really eating a lot I'll also have a baked potatoe with a side of chili (with turkey meat or ground beef that has the fat rendered from it - just by boiling in salt water and draining)
or
- Whole grain pasta with a garden, chunky-style pasta sauce (which I make myself) and some whole grain Italian bread... with a small side salad of fresh spinach and a little olive oil and vinegar...
or
- Chinese Stirfry and Brown Rice
or
- Cod fish Salad (which is nothing more than some salted cod fish with yucca, steamed carrots, avocado, tomatoes, fresh spinach or romain lettuce, hard boiled eggs, and onion either sauteed in vinegar or raw with oil and vinegar and/or lemon juice to top) or a Salad Nicoise with some seared tuna...
or
- Anything else I'd like to cook....
Dessert:
- Chocolate Bread Pudding (using cacao powder, flaxseed, whole grain bread, almond milk and eggs with sweetener) topped with fresh whipped cream sweetened with Equal and some fresh strawberries...
or
- Jello Parfaits with either Whipped Cream or Yogurt with fresh fruit
And... on the weekends or whenever... I'll cheat with just a day or two of junk food or whatever the heck I want to eat... Usually if it's Chinese takeout I'll just order it with some brown rice....
(I cut and pasted this from one of my older posts... I used to eat like this but gained weight when I stopped eating, only ate one meal a day and it was mostly takeout)
I know... *lol*... I said if you wanna read it...
Answer: This is way to long to even read the entire thing!!

Question: Does this sound good for a trail mix? Dried cranberries, chocolate covered soy nuts, almonds, peanuts, and pistachios.
I wanted to add another fruit that goes well, but I don't like raisins much, and I don't think anything else would mix in well. I wanna try goji berries, but I haven't tasted them yet.

Question: did i eat enough today? k so im 15.this morning i ate handfull of tomatoes handfull of carrots half a chicken breast and half a corn of the cob.then i ate a asain pear, goji berries, banana, star fruit, milk, tea, and two peices of bread.

Answer: Why are you worrying about how much you've eaten! You're only 15! I would say that if you are eating at least three meals a day especially breakfast then that should be fine. You seem to be eating very healthily which is great so just remember you are allowed to eat junk food occasionally as well and don't stress.

Question: Can my Lovebird Drink This Juice? I am going to give her this
(image, take note: orange colour juice) http://www.fnnfoods.com/sg_fruit_tree_fresh_no_sugar.php
no sugar added, made from 100% juice, No artifical sweeterners and no colourings.
It is made from 100% juice squeezed from choicest and hand-picked fruits including carrots, pumpkins and wolfberries ( commercially known as goji berry)
Name of the juice : F&N Fruit Tree Fresh Carrot mixed fruit juice with wolfberry.
Thanks in advance and i will give you 10 points for best answer.
PS- How many tablespoon or Teaspoon should i give her? Thanks.
I don't want my lovebird to over consume it..
Answer: well, im not too sure as long as they dont have traces of tomatos or anything with acid in them (tomatoes, avocados, oranges) it might be okay. thats all i got to say sorry
Question: healthy breakfast? is this too much for breakfast and is it healthy?
small handful of muesli with a tablespoon of natural yoghurt and handful of mixed fruit (strawberry, blueberry and goji berries)
oh and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice
is it bad for you or will i loose weight eating that for breakfast and having protein and veg for lunch and a salad for dinner
i'm 5 foot 4 and want to lose 15lbs (from 124 to 109 lbs)
Answer: Your breakfast is too small, not too big.
The body is designed to walk. Research shows that slow, rhythmic movement exercise, such as walking, resets your body’s weight set point and creates a thin, lean body. A one-hour walk everyday will change your body dramatically in as little as one month.
Eat a big breakfast
It is interesting to note that 80 percent of the people who are overweight eat a small breakfast or none at all. Eighty percent of thin people eat a large breakfast. Your breakfast should consist of as much as you want of the following items. Everything listed should be organic. Apples, pears, berries, kiwis, pineapples, grapefruit, plums, peaches, prunes, figs, rye bread, raw butter (raw means not pasteurized and not homogenized), raw milk, plain yogurt (this means no sugar or fruit), wild smoked salmon, beef in any form as long as it’s organic, chicken in any form as long as it’s organic, lamb in any form as long as it’s organic, tuna, sardines, eggs, tomatoes, peppers, salsa, celery, carrots, any vegetable, potatoes in limited amounts, coffee in limited amounts made with pure water not tap water with raw milk or cream and raw evaporated sugar cane juice or honey as a sweetener, real tea (not tea in tea bags).
Eat a huge salad at lunch & dinner
I don’t care if your lunch is a cheeseburger, French fries, and a pint of ice cream, add to it a big, huge salad and eat that first. You’ll be amazed that you lose weight. The salad can contain anything you like as long as it is only vegetables and they are organic. The salad dressing should be organic olive oil and freshly squeezed lemon juice, or organic vinegar. If you really want to speed the weight loss process use organic apple cider vinegar. Add some organic sea salt, fresh ground pepper, or some garlic for taste.

Question: how to grow honey, goji and blueberries? looking for the best soil/compost and garden position for these berries, as you might guess i am a new to fruit growing. are they best in tubs for a smsll garden.
Answer: blueberries and goji - light well drained soil - multipurpose compost is fine.
Although I had berries on my blueberry (4) the first year they don't really start producing well until the 2nd year.
I put in top feed at the end of the cold weather - a fruit tree feed.
My blueberries are now loaded.
The goji berry I am less successful with - no flowers yet in its 2nd year.
Both are in the sunny spot that is recommended.
Am still waiting for the arrival of the honey berry which I only ordered a month ago, so have no results to share..
Question: this tastes like orange to me? no i don't mean the fruit orange,i mean it tastes like the color orange.anybody ever had goji berry juice?to me, it tastes like orange.ravioli tastes kind of red , but i think whipped cream tastes pink.has anybody else ever eaten something that tasted so distinct you could only describe it as a color?
and no,i'm pretty sure i don't have the disease that chick had in "a mango shaped space", just in case you wondered
i dunno, maybe that's why i'm asking love
really yall?a certain flavor has never made you think of a color?come on!
and uh, no i'm pretty sure i also don't have cancer >.<
Answer: some people associate specific senses with other ones. A friend of mine thinks that several numbers feel like a colour to him. 7 feels like lavender. IT's just the way some people are, nothing wrong with it.
Hope this helps :)
Question: Vitamins and fruit? most vitamin enriched fruit? Which fruit, dried or not packs the most punch per portion, i already have 1 or 2 bananas, 1 apple, 1 orange and 18 grapes per day and multi vits and fish oils ??? any others i may need?
ps just got some goji berries, any good?
Answer: never tried gogi berries.... have no idea on that one hon.
these are some of the best fruits around for anti-oxidants and vitamins :
kiwi
blueberries
pomegranate
any type of red berry
i think that as long as u eat the 5 recommended portions of fruit & veg a day, u should be ok... if u want to make sure, take a good quality multi vitamin.
Question: Do nuts make you fat? I'm not fat, or obsessed with my weight, but I like to make healthy choices.
Lately, I've taken to eating a small amount of nuts (1/4 to 1/2 oz) a few times a day to tide me over until my next meal (usually consists of peanuts, almonds, hazelnuts, brazil nuts, soy nuts, pine nuts, cashews, goji berries and raisins). But as we're always hearing about how fatty nuts are, I'm wondering if I'm doing myself a disservice, and if I shouldn't something else like crackers or fruits (I already eat a lot of fruit, though), or even a bit of chocolate.
Answer: The latest data suggests that you may be able to cut your risk of sudden cardiac death IN HALF, just by eating nuts twice a week.[1] And studying 25,000 Seventh Day Adventists, those that ate just a handful of nuts (1 oz.) five or more times a week lived two years longer! Years onto your life and delicious--that's what vegetarianism should be all about. So surround yourself with nuts (which shouldn't be hard in the vegetarian community--just kidding! :)
Yeah, but aren't nuts fatty, though? Yes, but they're packed with good fats (especially almonds, hazelnuts, macadamias and pecans). There is not a single study in the entire medical literature that I'm aware of that failed to show health benefits from nut consumption. Nuts are one of the healthiest foods on the planet. So why doesn't everyone eat them every day? Because there is this persistent myth that nuts make you gain weight.
Question: What does my diet need? Do you think I'm getting all the right vitamins and minerals I need with this diet (by diet I mean way of eating not restrictions on food diet):
Before breakfast:
-2 vitamin c tablets
-2 calcium tablets
Breakfast:
-Coffee and wholegrain toast with butter
or
-Museli cereal - grains, nuts and seeds, plus goji berries sometimes
Morning Tea:
-Wholewheat biscuits x2
-Coffee or tea
Lunch
-Sandwich with wholegrain bread, and salad vegetables and cheese
-Two brazil nuts or hazelnuts
-Orange juice
Afternoon tea
-Maybe a sweet I've baked myself like a piece of cake or two cookies
-Tea
Dinner
-Meat (or chicken or fish) plus 3-5 vegetables
or
-Pasta with 3-5 vegetables (I make my own pasta sauce so no added sugar or salt or other nasties)
---
So what do you think? I know I don't eat enough fruit, but I don't like fruits that much. Should I take any extra supplements do you think? I also drink water throughout the day - not enough - but I'm working on it. lol
PS - I'm not trying to loose or gain weight - I am 168cm and 53kg so I'm a healthy weight, I just want to remain healthy
Answer: Overall a healthy diet, but don't call it that. Make sure you want to stick by it and make it your lifestyle. Also I think you consume a bit too much caffeine. Try to replace it with water. Try to take only one vitamin C tablet a day. You don't drink enough liquids (but you mentioned that yourself). Along with this you should get some exercise because in my opinion you are slightly underweight. Try not to eat after 8:30 (if you do) Other than that it's ok.
