Question: What is a really good hair care product for African American, color treated hair? I am in the market for a new hair care product. I stopped using Pantene Pro V and Olive Oil Root Stimulator because I started color treating my hair and didn't feel they were the best products to use with my hair type. I recently starting using Motions Marula Formula and am not impressed. I just want something to promote hair growth, shine, and health.
Answer: Well, you could try using natural based products and see how they perform on your hair. Mineral Indulgence has natural products for relaxed hair and they helped with my daughter's relaxed hair. I purchase the Relaxed Hair Regimen as it's cheaper than buying the products individually. Plus you get a free scalp butter for hair growth if you get the regimen.

Question: What hair care products should I use on natural/relaxed hair? I stopped getting relaxers in February, so I have lots of curly naturalness, but I still also have most of my hair that's relaxed. Which hair care products would help my hair the most?
Answer: Hello, I also transitioned from relaxed to natural. The most important thing to do is to make sure you are practicing basic hair care techniques, here are a few:
*Wash your hair regularly with sulfate free shampoos.(at least once a week)
*Moisturize your hair regularly with a quality leave in conditioner.
*Seal in your moisture with oils (as needed)
*Protect the ends of your hair by cutting back on heat styling and wearing hair in protective styles (like buns and ponytails)
*Trim your hair as needed to get rid of split ends.
*Eat a healthy balanced diet and take vitamins
*Deep condition your hair regularly
*Do protein treatments to strengthen the hair.

Question: What hair care product works really good for fine hair? I have really fine, thin hair. Are there any hair care products that you know of that would help calm the frizz? I'm using pantene right now but it doesn't seem to be working.
Answer: well i like you, have thin, fine hair.
I use redken fresh curls, I know its for curly hair but it gives my hair lots of volume and body.
and its not real heavy.
I also use bed head manipulator to add texture to my textureless hair. HAHA.
I think that herbal essences works well if you use the toussel me softly, that line is nice or even the line they have for straight hair.
Question: How do you make african american hair grow and how do you care for it? I am a fifteen year old african american and I use to have this really pretty long hair. Then I began to wear hair weaves and my hair began to get shorter and unhealthy. If I continue to wear hair weaves but get a sew in instead of glue will that help me get my hair back? Also what is good hair care products for woman of color?
Answer: There is no product that can make hair grow faster. Hair follicles are cells that push out protein (which is your hair). That process can't be sped up.
However, by eating a healthy diet and gently messaging your scalp when you wash our hair, you'll give your cells the best chance to remain healthy and pump out that protein!

Question: HAIR CARE????!!!!!???!? i have long straight dark dyed hair.. i normally use the "strength" Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner.. i was thinking of going to the baby johnson's shampoos.. good idea or no? what are good shampoos and conditioners or hair products...no more expensive than paul mitchell...my hair is pretty normally not too oily or dry...but i do get split ends from styling..
Answer: Long, dyed hair needs special care to keep it looking healthy and lustrous. Paul Mitchell's line is pretty good, but you should try switching to a line specially formulated for color-treated hair.
John Frieda Brilliant Brunette is appropriate for colored hair and brings out the best in brown tones. Herbal Essences Long-term Relationship keeps Split ends at bay and has a very pleasant scent.
Consider buying a Chi Heat-Styling product to keep heat from damaging your hair. Although a bit on the pricey side, the product will last you quite some time.

Question: What are the best hair care products for natural African American hair? I have natural 'nappy' hair, no color, no relaxer. I want to know the best hair care products to promote growing, healthy natural hair.
My daughter is 3 years old, she also has natural hair. Unlike me she has very dry hair, dry scalp, and split ends. I would like to know what i should use on her hair and is safe for children.
please address both issues.
Answer: The term "nappy" is used by a lot of people with a lot of different hair types. If you are referring to what's normally considered type 4 hair which is kinky, coily, and usually very dry and lacks sheen, I would suggest the following:
1) Try to avoid using shampoos with sulfates. Type 4 hair is naturally very dry and lacks oil. Most commercial shampoos strip your hair of it's natural oils. Instead, co-wash your hair once or twice a week using a cheap conditioner like Suave Coconut. Only opt to wash your hair with a clairfying shampoo once or twice a month to avoid product build-up. You can also clarify your hair naturally with baking soda and water.
2) Deep condition your hair for at least 30 minutes every week with heat (meaning: cover your hair in a plastic bag and sit under a hooded dryer or wrap your head with a hot towel). I use Queen Helene Cholesterol Conditioner mixed with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
3) Use a good moisturizing leave in conditioner such as Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner or Infusium 23.
4) Seal in moisture using a good sealant such as castor oil or pure shea butter.
5) Avoid applying direct heat to your hair.
6) Moisturize and seal your ends every night if you can.
7) Avoid combing and brushing your hair too much. I only style my hair with my fingers. I detangle my hair with a wide-tooth comb once or twice a week only when my hair is saturated with water and a good detangling conditioner like Pantene Pro-V.
I've been doing all of the above for the past 7 months. My hair is growing like crazy and my ends are no longer dry and brittle. Also, I do not suffer from dry scalp or split ends. I also have natural hair with no color or relaxer.
You should join a social network dedicated to hair for black woman such as www.hairlista.com or www.lhcf.com. I got all of my information from both of those places.
Good luck!
