Health Benefits Of Berries
Question: Compare the health benefits of goji berries vs. acai berries. Like, which has more anti-oxidants, etc.?
Answer: Some studies show that the Acai berry has three times the rating of Goji berries. http://berrydoctor.com/broadcast/2006/AcaivsGojiORAC.htm
Wild Blueberries actually top the list in berries and the ORAC ratings. And believe it or not the small red beans top the fruits in antioxidant power. http://www.hdlighthouse.org/treatment-care/care/hdltriad/diet/updates/1116antioxidant.php
I hope this helps.
BEST WISHES!
Question: acai berries and its health benefits? I want to know what are acai berries? Is it called by any other name? what are its good qualities, any side effects
of consuming these. Are they available in capsule form?

Answer: Common Names: Acai Palm, Assai Palm, Cabbage Palm
Acai Berry: In Brazilian herbal medicine, the oil of the Acai fruit is used to treat diarrhea; an infusion of the grated fruit rind is used as a topical wash for skin ulcers; and, the fruit seeds are crushed and prepared in an infusion for fevers. In the Peruvian Amazon, an infusion of the toasted crushed seeds is used for fever. In Colombia, where the trees grow along the Pacific coast line, it is called naidí and the fruit is turned into a common and popular drink
Acai Juice: Easily the most common use of the Acai fruit by
Amazonians is the dark purple juice. Very nutritious juice
Health benefits
acai berries are amongst the most nutritious foods of the Amazon, rich in B vitamins, minerals, fiber, protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Acai also contains oleic acid (omega-9), a beneficial fatty acid (often mistakenly referred to as essential).
Some of the claims being made for Acai drink are extraordinary ... including weight loss and the lowering of cholesterol and curing of cancer.
P.s.
you may as well eat a few dozen red grapes or perhaps black currants, or blackberries each day as pay for an exorbitantly priced bottle of Acai juice drink which will have little or no effect on your health...
Question: Acai berry health benefits? I've seen alot of hype and wondered if there is any truth to the health benefits of the acai berry?
Answer: Pretty much any dark berry is very good for you. The cardiovascular benefits are the most well known; studies show that anthocyanins can help prevent blood clots, improve blood circulation, relax blood vessels, and prevent arthrosclerosis. But scientists have also uncovered a whole host of other powerful effects from anthocyanins, including antiviral and antiallergenic properties. Some research even suggests that anthocyanins can prevent cancer, by blocking carcinogenesis on a molecular level and encouraging tumor cell death. Also contains fatty acids that are fantastic for absorbtion. Try it for a week, make sure that it bottled and pure. You'll feel a difference.

Question: Health benefits - Frozen vs Fresh Berries? So I'm a complete berry-head. I love all types of berries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and my all-time favorite, red raspberries. Unfortunately, most berries, excluding strawberries and pretty dang expensive. I eat berries literally by the handful, so a $4 4oz container of raspberries will be gone in less than 5 minutes. So for all the more exotic berries (black and rasp respectfully), I buy them frozen, which is remarkably cheaper. I can get a pound of rasp/blackberries for $2.50 compared to $3-5 for 1/4 pound of fresh berries.
Do the berries lose any nutritional value after being frozen? Do they still retain the same beneficial health qualities about them? I really like the idea of antioxidants and how beneficial they are (or are theorized to be). It seems like fruit is really almost a miracle food, its great for you and taste better than ANY junk food/candy out there. I mean... the TRY to replicate the flavor, so why not just skip the sugar crap and get the real thing!
Answer: Freezing berries does deplete a small amount of nutrition, but picking the fruit and then not eating it right away also makes the fruit lose nutritional value. In some ways, frozen fruits can be even more nutritious than fresh fruit (unless you happen to live on a farm and pick your own), because it is picked and then frozen in time right when it is at its freshest.
BOTH ways of eating your berries are still quite healthy... so as long as you are eating them (whichever way you choose to eat them), you should be good. :)
Question: Acai Berry Daily Cleanse health benefits? Hiya guys, I am not looking to lose weight or anything like that I am simply wanting to have a healthy body. I am health conscious in lots of ways but I have heard acai berry is a good antioxidant. I do however also have IBS and so I am hoping it might help with my bloating a bit. Is it a good supplement to take? Any advice I would appreciate.
Answer: Forget it, it's more likely to upset your body than do any good.
It gives people diarrhoea which can damage the normal enzymes and flora in the digestive tract and cause electrolyte imbalances

Question: Has anyone experienced any drastic health benefits when drinking Mona Vie?(product containing the Acai berry)? MonaVie supposedly has many health benefits because it contains 13 servings of fruit in 3 or 4oz. Also the healing properties of the Acai berry is beneficial as well. Since my mother is not to keen on maintaining her health I was curious to hear some feedback from actual users or past users.
Serious answers only please.
Answer: Unfortunately Monavie is just a scam product by a multi-level-marketing (MLM) company like Amway. It is full of sugars and other fillers, and runs the risk of losing some of the precious acai nutrition, since acai must be frozen or processed as soon as it is picked.
I personally chose a 100% acai berry product in capsule form, which neither claims to be specifically a detox or a cleansing supplement. The name of the product is Extreme Acai, and it is ranked in several polls as one of the top 3 best acai products on the market.
Acai has great anti-aging benefits, will cleanse and detoxify you naturally, and has destroyed cancer cells in recent studies. You really can't go wrong by adding an acai supplement to your daily vitamin regimen. So far it's working for me by helping my digestion, curbing my appetite, and by giving me more energy each day... I don't even get sleepy around 3pm anymore.
If you want to pick up some Extreme Acai, see the source link below. But even if you don't, I would recommend avoiding Monavie. Best of luck.
Question: Are there any *medically-proven* health benefits to drinking MonaVie (and/or the acai berry)? I hear lots of testimonials and stories of the great things this has done for the health of friends and some family members, but have there been any medical studies -- is there any *scientific* proof?
Answer: Hi, I have been drinking monavie for a while and love it! It has personally helped me with acid reflux, sleeping, skin complexion, and gives me more energy. I started off drinking it, then became a distributor. It is a blend of 19 fruits including the acai berry. It has changed so many peoples lives here and in Brazil where the acai berry comes from. One of the many reasons I really like this company is because they give back to the people in Brazil by building orphanages and helping the people. I would like to encourage you to watch this video to see an amazing testimony by Dr. Lou Niles about Monavie: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseac... . Please feel free to contact me if you would like to try Monavie or join the company and get the product at wholesale. You can order the juice through me and I will be happy to answer any questions you have. Here is my website with my contact information: http://www.mymonavie.com/tally

What about all the other blueberries. 10 pts to the person who list all berries imaginable with their health benefits!
I'm not looking for weight advice, i'm looking for information on the nutrients of berries.
Getting more info, i'm sure there's so much more!

Question: Can you get the same health benefits from dried fruit, frozen vegetables, canned vegetables, etc? I eat very few fresh vegetables and a decent amount of fresh fruit but I load up on dried fruit. My favorite is this berry medly I snack on. It has dried cranberries, blueberries, raisins and cherries. I also eat a lot of frozen bagged vegetables, which I boil/steam and eat for dinner. Is this good enough or should I be eating the fresh stuff more?
Answer: Frozen bagged veggies are good for you, especially when you steam them as they will lose very little nutrients by steaming them.
The dried fruit is ok in moderation. Dried fruit has a significantly higher caloric count than fresh fruit. Also, anything that has been preserved has sulfides to preserve colors/flavors. Frozen fruit could be a good option for you too. I also take fresh fruit in season and freeze my own. Sometimes, I use the food processor to make fresh fruit bars which taste great and are good for you too!
Question: Thinking of trying acai berry and green tea supplements to lose weight and added health benefits. Experiences? I eat healthy. I work out regularly. I take vitamins. Just seems to be so hard to lose last 5 pounds around the waist. Have any of you tried acai berry supplements, green tea supplements?
I am even thinking of Hydroxycut possibly but kind of scares me..
Answer: They don't really work. They are cleansing and have some minor fat burning properties, but these are practially nonexistent. They help motivate a person, however, to keep up with the diet regimen. Hydroycut gets its name from hydroxycitric acid, which interferes with the Krebs cycle of carbohydrate metabolism. Hydroxycitric acid doesn't do a lot in practice, however. I believe Hydroycut mainly gets its kick from over-the-counter compounds analogous to Sudafed [and compounds that mimic adrenaline and can cause heart palpitations and aggressiveness.
Question: MonaVie claims a myriad of health benefits. Has this been looked at and approved by the FDA? Is this a scam? This is an MLM (mulit-level marketing) business, promoting the anti-oxidant content of the açai berry from the Amazon. A bottle of the product retails for $40, but several competitors are selling their own product blends for a fraction of this cost.
Answer: First and foremost - Monavie claims to be a nutritious fruit juice. Monavie DOES NOT claim to cure disease, protect against cancer, or any of the other extreme medical benefits which are advertised by some rogue distributors.
Monavie active is extremely beneficial for you health as it is high in antioxidants, natural plant based glucosamine, and essential fatty acids which act like natural anti-inflammatories. Basically, Monavie is a very simple method of improving your body's nutrition levels. The human body heals itself - you just need to provide it with the right nutrition.
Monavie is NOT a drug, hence the product is government approved as a health juice only. If you go on to the Monavie website you can find documentation stating the government approvals of Monavie, along with sporting body approvals which confirm that Monavie is legal for athletes and is not a banned substance.
The cost of the juice depends on your actions. If you sign up as a distributor you pay the wholesale price, not retail. Then by signing up just a few people on each of your legs you effectively get the juice for free (Product commissions equal to juice cost). Any further work you do to build your business is profit.
It is such a simple idea and easy business. I really recommend everyone have a look at this. What’s the worst that can happen? You get healthy?
Question: What are maqui berries? What is maqui? I am looking for a website that has information about the maqui berry, which is supposed to be better than acai because it has more antioxidants.
Looking for answers to questions like what is maqui berry, are there maqui berry side effects, maqui berry juices, health benefits of maqui berries, maqui berry research, maqui berry orac levels, maqui berry diets, and stuff like that.
Answer: The best resource for that kind of info is http://benefitsofmaquiberry.com/
Question: Goji Berries? I read in a health mag that Goji berries do something to reduce amount of blood sugar in your body? Is this true, even saw in a movie that it reats asthma? Anyone know about the health benefits of Goji berries and it is real?
Answer: Goji berries (and juice) is promoted as a panacea by wackos in MLM (network marketing) companies otherwise known as pyramid schemes. Don't accept the "wisdom" of unqualified people.
Goji berries do have value as antioxidants and possibly as anti-inflammatories. However, be skeptical of the blood sugar claims. If you are trying to reduce blood sugar with supplements, I would advise researching them at http://www.nutritionaltree.com/reviews/diabetes/special-combinations/default.aspx. If you really wanted to buy goji juice, you can research different brands on the same site. By the way, the site does not sell anything. That is your first clue that their reviews might actually mean something.
Question: what is the best acai product on the market. what are fraudulent acai products.? I've been hearing so much stuff about the health benefits of acai berry. Everywhere I look, somebody is trying to sell you acai berry in one form or another and claiming their product is the best. I would really like to give it a try but I'm not sure any of these people are telling the truth.
Answer: When it comes to acai berry products there are only really a few factors to consider.
First is the quality of the extract they use, which is mostly dependent on how they process it.
Next of course would be the amount of it you get per serving.
The most common thing to look for on the label would be the ORAC value of the product. This is the value they use to measure the amount of antioxidants in foods.
As far as I know the best acai products out there are amazon thunder, sambazon, monavie, and acai ultra burn.
Acai Ultra Burn puts the ORAC value right on the bottle and its over 70,000. Many of the other products out there will not have a value over 3,000.
You can find out more about ORAC values and Acai Berries and how they should be processed at the site I list in my source.
Question: Will I still get the same health benefits from tea by drinking it this way? For the record I’m not trying to lose weight, I’m a seventeen year old female who’s 5”4’ and 140 pounds. I’m athletic. I played softball for six years on a team but stopped playing last year; I’m still on the soccer team at my school and have been since I was thirteen. I’m a size nine to an eleven jean depending on the store and brand, and an M/L in shirts.
Every morning I start my day off with a smoothie that consist of fruit I.e. nectarines, strawberries, bananas, lemons, grapefruits, cherries (not necessarily all in one smoothie that’s just the fruit I prefer) some cinnamon to boost my metabolism, ice, skim milk and a scoop of Right Size berry smoothie powder.
I love tea. I have several zip lock gallon bags, two cabinets and several unopened canisters and boxes of hot tea satchels; however I’ve lost my taste for warm tea most recently and especially in summer. I still want the health benefits from tea though, so lately I’ve been breaking open three or four tea bags and dumping them into the blender when I make my smoothie (you can hardly taste it).
Will I still get the same benefits from the tea even though I’m not drinking it the right way? Usually green tea satchels/bags are what I use, however I have plenty of flavors, types, and brands. Lastly, no sugar goes into my smoothie, it’s around 200-500 calories a smoothie.
Dude, thank you. That was very informative. :)
