Herbal Remedy For Allergy
Question: What is a natural/herbal remedy for allergies? I suffer from ragweed pollen allergies, and between mid-Aug thru mid-Nov I'm pretty miserable. i do not want to take pharmaceuticals like Claritin... what natural/herbal remedies can help me? Thank you!!
Answer: Stinging nettle or bayberry is for allergies. If you want a natural cure, I suggest that you get allergy desensitization shots. These are a tiny extract of the pollen and they slowly build up the dosage over several years.
Question: does anyone have a herbal remedy for allergy-related asthma.? the little girl is allergic to most anti-histamines and antibiotics
Answer: I would look into your environment. Indoor air can be very toxic...because it's all closed up and everything is just circulating around and around! So, maybe look into reducing toxins. It helped my son's allergies.
Secondly, I would get her on a good vitamin. Not a cheap over the counter one. A high potency one. There are companies which make some and are reasonable priced, don't spend a fortune. This will help build her cells and help her to fight what's going on.
I took an herb when I had an allergic reaction once; skullcap. Look it up and see if it's okay for kids and make her a sweet tea with the local honey ;-) good luck. If you want to know more about the non-toxic life we live, let me know! I love to share.
Question: What is a good natural/herbal remedy for allergies?
Answer: It depends on what allergies give you.
CHAMOMMILE Tea is used to reduce duration of hay fever attacks.
EPHEDRA Relieves congestion & bronchial spasms.
EUCALYPTUS Used in steam inhalation to ease congestion.
EYEBRIGHT Tincture or capsules reduce hay fever symptoms.
GINGER Reduces inflammation, antimicrobial.

NETTLE Extract acts as an expectorant, reduces sinus inflammation.
ROOIBOS Has antihistamine properties. A tea is sometimes helpful in relieving symptoms.
ST. JOHN'S WORT Capsules are used to relieve sinus headache.
HOMEOPATHY Can be quite effective in treating symptoms.
Question: A good herbal remedy for allergies? I had an allergic reaction because of all of the pollen outside and I am MIERABLE. I need an herbal remedy because I can't take medicine otherwise it will interfere with the medicine I'm on. And i need it fast I have a date tomorrow night. HELP!!!!
Answer: Try taking some local bee pollen. You can put it in a smoothie or just swallow it with some water. You should be able to find it at a health food store like New Seasons or Whole Foods. It tastes like sweet hay.
It changes your body's immune reaction to pollen when your body sees it as a food.
Question: Herbal remedies for allergy symptoms? Are there any herbal remedies that can relieve the symptoms of allergies- especially to cats?
I am prescribed some pretty heavy duty antihistamines, but I hate the side effects. I'd rather take something herbal if and when I need it
In particular, something can will reduce the swelling in my nasal passage (my allergic reactions affect my breathing quite severely)
Answer: XClear is a nasal spray. It contains xylitol, which is an antibacterial now found in many things, such as gum. Anyway, you can purchase this at Wal-Greens and other places for about $11.00. Pricey, but soothing and well worth it.
Boiron makes a natural allergy/sinus homeopathic. I have not tried their allergy product, but I have tried their flu version and the sinus infection version and think they are both great. You can find this at Vitamin Shoppe and probably Wal-Greens. Also try online.
Question: What homeopathic and/or herbal remedy should I use for my contact allergy? I have an allergy to something in the swimming pool (must be one of the chemicals used) and I've heard that allergies can sometimes be treated by homeopathic herbs. But there are several different kinds and it's hard to determine which I need if I know nothing about them.
My symptoms are: SNEEZY (the worst symptom), Itchy nose, runny nose, (also my face burns, but I'm not sure if this is part of the allergic reaction. The main problem is the sneezy, itchy nose)
Which remedy should I use?? And WHERE can I find it? Thank you so much!
Answer: You are allergic to the high concentration of chlorine in the pool. Nothing you can do but stay out of the pool. Sorry.
Question: How do YOU keep you cats coat looking beautifull?? Also has anybody hesard of a herbal remedy to do this......? I have been told you can buy herbal remedy's for cats fur for people who suffer from ashma, allergy's etc i was told this by a customer and i never asked what she used, does anybody on here use anything like this or anything to keep there cats coat in top condition, any answers will be greatly appreciated, Thankyou xx
Answer: Good food is key to the nice coat, I feed Blue Buffalo Wilderness, but the Blue Buffalo Spa Select is good too. You can also add fish oil to help if you really want to, but I feed Blue Buffalo because they already factor a lot of the supplements into the food.
Brushing will also help keep the cat's coat beautiful. What brush to use will vary depending on the type of cat you have. I have a Domestic Short Hair and a cat that may be a Maine Coon and I have to use different brushes. For the DSH I brush weekly with the furminator, and whenever he lets/wants me with a pin brush (he loves brushing, and the furminator cannot be used daily). For the Maine Coon I use an undercoat rake periodically and brush with a pin brush (try daily, but she doesn't like being brushed and it doesn't always work out). That brushing schedule will also help with the shedding.
As far as a supplement, I haven't heard of one that works as a fool proof plan. Dander is what causes the allergies and that is in the salvia. Some herbal things may help remove it from the coat through a bath but I'm not sure about what you can give a cat orally. I do know that stinging nettle can help human allergies. Personally I would try regular vaccuuming, brushing the cat and use those dander reducing wipes first. As long as the allergies/asthma are not that severe you can build a tolerance to cat dander. And some cats cause more of a reaction then others so not all cats will cause strong allergic reactions.
A lot of times those herbal supplements are a scam and don't work, or work based on the placebo effect, but that is just my experience.
Good luck.
Question: Are any herbal remedies available for allergies to cats, etc? I have heard of the shots and the like, however, I would like to get something more homeopathic.
Answer: I know that all natural Alfalfa Complex works very well with many different types of allergies. It's a natural anti-inflammatory; natural anti-histamine.
Reaching as deep as 20 feet into the soil, the roots of the alfalfa plant brings forth minerals in their most natural form.
Hope this is useful and feel free to contact me with questions or the brand I recommend.
Question: herbal / natural remedy for "sensitive airway", not asthmatic? so i have sensitive airway (so i believe), because any cold/flu just goes to my lungs and i cough forever. I don't have asthma, or tb or lung disease of any kind. any herbal / natural remedy to improve the seemingly constantly irritated airways? could it be allergies, any remedy for stuffed sinus all the time? i don't want to take steroids constantly.
Answer: You need to cleanse your colon. Decongest your body from the bottom up. Eating lots of fresh pineapple will also help to clear the respiratory tract due to the high content of the enzyme Bromelain. Not only will it clear the respiratory tract, it will also help to reduce any inflammation.
Question: What are some good herbal remedies and supplements for Allergic Rhinitis? I'm looking for alternative remedies for severe allergies that have good impact, especially for an itchy throat.
Answer: Put some peppermint essential oil on your throat and the back of your neck. In most cases, it provides relief within 30 seconds.
Question: What are some natural or herbal remedies for allergies? I suffer from seasonal outdoor allergies and indoor allergies, probably due to my pets. I refuse to give up the pets. I vacuum daily, brush them, and dust often, we have an air purifier that is hooked into our central heating system. For over a year, the doctors have had me on nasal steroid spray,(Nasonex) and Zyrtec, but I have gotten five ear and sinus infections that required antibiotics in the past year. I tried the neti pot, and don't know if I used it incorrectly, or what, but it made things worse, and I got awful headaches.
I would like to get off this medication regimen. I stopped the Zyrtec and nasonex, and am finishing up a prednisone treatment and am taking Sulfa antibiotics. This last infection travelled to my lungs as well, and I have really low energy. Any ideas?
Answer: Sounds like a complicated case. There are lots of things a qualified Naturopathic Doctor can suggest to treat allergies and chronic sinus infections.
The thing is, an ND will have to examine you and get your history to find out all of the pieces of the puzzle that are contributing to the problem. She'll develop a plan specifically for you... and then you may have to work together, tinkering with the treatment to optimize your results.
Sorry, it isnt a simple "here, take this herb" kind of answer... but yes, you have options!
To find a qualified ND in Canada check www.cand.ca. In the US check www.naturopathic.org.
Good luck!
Question: herbal remedies help? I need herbal remedies for respiratory allergies. As I don't want to get continous allergy shots and want something that works at home
Answer: You should be tested to try and find out the cause of the allergy, then steps can be taken to avoid/remove the source of allergy.
