Hydrate
Question: How to I hydrate my face without the uncomfortable feeling of moisturizers? When I apply moisturizer during the day or night, I hate the uncomfortable and greasy feeling. So how do I hydrate my skin without using moisturizers?
PS: I know drinking a lot of water will help my skin but is there any other way?
Answer: Try a water-based moisturizer, these don't feel greasy.
Question: How to determine the mass percent of water in a hydrate and how to determine the molecular formula of hydrate? My hydrate is CuSO4 x nH20
Mass of the empty beaker, stirring rod = 235.54g
Mass of the empty beaker, stirring rod, and hydrated CuSO4 = 240. 56g
Mass of the empty beaker, stirring rod, and anhydrous CuSO4 = 229.70g
Please don't give me just the answer or the calculations, I would like the actual explanations so I can learn how to do this myself. Thanks in advance.
The last number is actually 229.70g.
Answer: I suppose that the last number is239.7 since it would be impossible to do work, the mass of CuSO4 would be negative
determine mass of anhydrous CuSO4 substraying 239.7-235.54 =MH
determine mass of hydrated CuSO4 =240.56-235.54= M
substract MH-M
mass of water (molar mass CuSO4 *(MH-M)/M) =Mwater
number of moles of water is Mwater /18
Question: Why does an alcohol dissolve a hydrate in a distillation tower? Methanol is injected into our process whenever a hydrate is plugging up a pipe or tower? What reaction is taking place between the methanol and the hydrate (water and hydrocarbon mixture - ethylene)? The hydrate is in the solid form and the methanol dissolves the solid and carries it out of the tower.
Answer: Alcohol is a Polar substance, as is water. Methanol etc..will mix with, and dissolve the hydrates to water and hydrocarbons and prevent blockage of small diameter tubing and equipment in the distillation system.
The water will be vaporised and pass up the tower with the lighter fractions of hydrocarbons and separated out of the overhead distillate and disposed of.
I used to work on a Low Temperature Separation unit where Hydrates were purposely produced by the refrigeration effect of expanding high pressure gas into a special separator vessel.
The decreased pressure and temperature cause the Hydrate formation to take place and greatly reduced the water vapour content of the Natural Gas.
The hydrates are then separated out of the gas and again further separated by melting them to water and liquid hydrocarbons by warm water coils and a series of baffles within the separator. Where a likelyhood of blockage was possible, as in the expansion valve and piping at the separator inlet, Methanol injection was available as a preventive measure.
Question: What are some good ways to hydrate the scalp? I've been having a lot of problems with my scalp lately. It's gotten really really dry. And because of that I've gotten loads of dandruff. I tried to use the tar shampoo from neutrogena but it hasn't helped. Hot oil works but since I could only use it once a week by the middle my hair's gotten dry again.
And I've also had more hair falling out lately.
So what are some good ways to hydrate the scalp...
are they any products? or tips? or home remedies?
head and shoulders don't work on me btw. -__-
Answer: The best shampoo for dandruff is Head n' Shoulders it contains zinc. I would also suggest a coconut oil treatment, rub it on your scalp and rinse after 30 min.n Hope this helps.
Question: Are there natural ways to smooth and hydrate my hair that I can do at home? I'm in to natural body care remedies..Does anyone know any natural ways to smooth and hydrate my hair without it getting too greasy?
Answer: yesss,..you know, my mom had a really beautiful long straight hair, but she didn't like it straight, so she went to the salon, and some bitch made shit of her hair, she was devasted!!, so we searched in some books and stuff, things that help(really help)are:
-eggs
-pantene
-special shampoos
-massaging your head
-washing your hair whit cold water at least 3 times at week
-eat healthy
-do exercise, mobilizes your organs and stuff
these really work, but you should goto some professional about skin and hair treatment.

Question: What was the mass percent of the hydrate in the original mixture? A 7.181 g sample of a mixture of anhydrous iron(II) chloride and its hydrate (FeCl2·4H2O) was heated until all the water was driven off. The remaining sample of FeCl2 had a mass of 5.705 g.
Answer: % water = (7.181-5.705)/7.181 x 100 = 20.55%
Question: What is the mass of exactly 500 molecules of chloral hydrate? Chloral hydrate (C2H3Cl3O2) is a drug formerly used as a sedative and hypnotic. It is the compound used to make "Mickey Finns" in detective stories.
What is the mass of exactly 500 molecules of chloral hydrate?
Answer: 1 molecule of Chloral hydrate would weigh 165.4 grams.
So, 500 molecules would weigh 82700 grams.
Question: How do you hydrate damaged/dry ends of hair? I feel like the ends of my hair are really dry and coarse. What can I do to moisturize them or hydrate them besides using conditioner (which I do everyday) or getting a trim?
Answer: ok dont laugh when I tell you..Mayonaise..wet your hair and rub mayo on the ends and wrap your hair in a hot towel for about 30mins. then wash and condition as normal since this is a natural product you can do this weekly if needed but you may not need it. Also you need to just nip the ends avout every four weeks
Question: What percentage of water was in the hydrate? Okay, now this is my problem:
A 5.0g sample of a hydrate of BaCl2 was heated, and only 4.3g of the anhydrous salt remained. What percentage of water was in the hydrate?
Can someone lead me through this step by step? I have 4 other problems like this, so best answer to you if you help out ;] !
Answer: 5.0g - 4.3g = 0.7g water lost
0.7g / 5.0g x 100 = 14% water
Question: What are other methods used to determine the percentage of water in a hydrate? My lab is due on Tuesday!!! and i came across this question but the only method i know how to use is to put the compound in the crucible take the weight, then heat it let it cool then take the mass again. If you have any Idea on any other ways to find the percentage of water in a hydrate please help me out.
The whole question is as followed Write a brief report on some of the other methods used to determine the percentage of water in a hydrate.
Answer: TGA abbreviation for ThermoGravimetric Analysis, is a method of precise measurement of percent water, present as a hydrate(s). This method involves heating a pre-weighed sample and plotting the weight change as a function of temperature. When plotted, one can deduce the degree of hydration via the shape of the curve.
Question: What is the empirical formula of the hydrate? The mass percent of water in a hydrate of MnCl2 is 36.41%. What is the empirical formula of the hydrate?
Answer: Let's call the formula MnCl2.nH2O. Then % water is 36.1 and % anhydrous MnCl2 is (100 - 36.41)%. Find the relative number of moles of each as follows: divide % of anhydrous MnCl2 by its formula mass and same for water. Now compare these ratios ie divide one by the other.
If you need more help, please email me or re post.
Question: What is the difference between a solution in water and a hydrate? I think a hydrate has something to do with the molecules containing water, but how is that different from merely being in water?
Answer: yes a hydrate is a solid that has water incorporated into the lattice. The molecules are arranged in an ordered array.
Being dissolved in water is a different situation altogether.
Question: How to calculate percentage of hydrate due to CuSO4 and percentage that was due to water? The mass of the copper II sulfate hydrate was 1.55g and the mass of the anhydrous crystals was .98g. How do I find the percentage composition of the copper II sulfate and then H20? thanks
The empirical formula is CuS04 5H20
Robert D: so the percentage of hydrate would be about 37%?
Answer: The statement of the problem has at least one problem. The term empirical formula is defined as "The chemical formula of a substance written using the smallest possible integral subscripts that reflect the elemental composition". The formula you have given is called a "molecular formula" The molecular formula shows the actual numbers of atoms in the compound and their arrangements. The copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate molecule is what you have shown.
In order to calculate the % water in the hydrate you would need to divide the mass of the anhydrous crystals, composed of CuSO4, by the given mass of the compound CuSO4.5H2O and multiply by 100. This would give you the % CuSO4. Then you would need to subtract this percentage from 100 to obtain the percentage of water in the hydrate.
An alternative method is to subtract the mass of the anhydrous crystals from the total mass of the copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate. This would give you the mass of water. Next, divide the mass of water by the mass of the CuSO4.5H2O and multiply the quotient by 100 to obtain the percent water in the hydrate.
Question: What are some specitic brands for hair products that hydrate bleached hair? I bleached my hair and was thinking of getting something good to hydrate it because we alll know bleaching damages and dries out hair. So know any good products that work well to hydrate and/or put some health back in my slightly damaged hair?
Answer: The best treatment on the market for bleach damaged hair is K-Pak by Joico. Joico has some of the best products out there, while the prices aren't as cheap as stuff like Pantene and Sunsilk, you don't need to use as much so it lasts longer and it's specially made for dry, damaged hair.
K-Pak has- a Shampoo and Conditioner, Reconstructor (helps strength and structure), Hydrator (seals cuticles and helps overall elasticity of hair), leave in treatments, and many more products great for hair like yours.
I use the Hydrator, because I colour and straighten my hair a lot, and the results are awesome! I've had it now for 4months and use it on an every 3days basis, but there's still half a tube left.
I recommend K-Pak not only because I like the results, but because everyone I've suggested it to loves it and can't get over how great their hair feels and looks.
Question: What are the best products that hydrate hair but also style it? I have incredibly dry, wavy, brittle ends and frizzy hair. What can I use that will help define my waves but also hydrate my hair?
Answer: HERBAL VITAMINS!! It's honestly the best for your hair and your body alltogether. I am totally not a consistent person when it comes to taking medicine or vitamins, but after a week of being consistent it really made a HUGE difference. I bought mine online from zenaherb.com...my best friend wanted the same thing after seeing my results but didn't want to wait a few days for it to be shipped so she went to GNC and paid so much more and she still didnt get results. I have like 4 of my friends trying it to and they all love it. Trust me, from first hand it's soooooooooooo amazing!! :) good luckk!!!!! - Danielle
Question: How does using a hydrate affect your results? I carried out a percentage yield lab and reacted a hydrate with metal. The product was then filtered and then dried and the final mass was measured.
Does the fact that we used a hydrate affect our results in any way?
Answer: It will do because it contains some water. If you determined the final concentration of product before drying you will notice a lower %w/w value than you would after drying.
