Insomnia
Question: Insomnia...? If you have insomnia what do you do to help you sleep?
Answer: Getting sleep in the correct quantities is a vital part of staying healthy. You don't have to rely on a chemical insomnia sleep aid to do it either. Consider using the Sleep So Good cream to get some all natural relief.
Question: INSOMNIA!!???!!!???!!!!!????!!? i can't fall asleep at night and in the morning i feel sooo tired.
this may be because i can't shut my mind off when i go to bed (at ten btw!)
give me your tips to fall asleep pleeeeaseeee.
thanks :]
(oh and my parents won't let me have sleep pills so don't bother mentioning that)
Answer: I was in the same boat - my brain would just NOT turn off! I kept thinking of random things - not worrying, just thinking. I tried about 5 herbal tablets and spent up big $$$ on them but they didn't work. I ended up getting proper sleeping tablets from the doctor, though I know that's not what you want to hear.
IMO, your parents shouldn't rule out sleeping pills. You don't go on them forever - only for a week or two so that your body can get back into the rhythm of going to sleep. It is a very bad thing to not get enough sleep.
Question: How do you treat intractable insomnia as Michael Jackson seemed to have? Clearly, Michael was overmedicated and perhaps in mutual exhaustion his "physician" finally administered the propofol on top of everything else.
My question is - what do real doctors do to treat someone whose insomnia is unresponsive to medications - is this such a rare circumstance that it's a rehab situation most of the time?
Answer: Clearly he had an addiction problem. Once you become that dependent on those types of medications, you need a much larger dose for them to become effective.
I don't think this is as rare as people think it is. They would send him for a sleep study, find out what his brain is doing when he is trying to sleep, send him off to rehab as drug withdrawal is dangerous. Who knows if he had any other co-morbidity.
Propofol is NEVER given to someone just because they cant sleep. That is just insane. As well as off label usage of medication, it is necessary in some aspects of medicine. Certainly not this particular drug!
Question: How to cure Insomnia if sleeping pills don't work? But not using natural herbal remedies? What happens if ya have insomnia and you don't know what the cause is? If sleeping tablets don't work what would be next? Could anxiety or depression cause insomnia?
Answer: I suffer from the same affliction, I tried a product called Sleep Well, its only in the states, but it worked for me.. check out their website for more info.
Question: What is the surest way to cure insomnia? What is the exact thing that I have to do in order to cure insomnia? I don't want something to try.
Answer: watching titanic
Question: How can I easily get rid of Insomnia using household objects? I have insomnia. N doctor told me so, but I am smart enough to figure it out on my own. No matter how early I try to go to sleep, I never get to sleep before 2 AM. Need help. I don't want to go out of my way and it can't be too expensive.
Answer: to beat insomnia, try the following sleep aid tips
* When you get up, try to keep a schedule like, eat, take medicine and go to bed, etc.
* Try to establish a relaxing before-sleep ritual, like taking warm bath, having light snack or reading for 10 minutes. This can let your body become informed that it is already near bed time.
* When sleepy try to go to bed, get out of bed when not sleeping.
* Have a regular exercise, it is best to exercise in the late afternoon, about six hours before bedtime.
* Around bedtime, try to avoid caffeine, alcohol and smoking.
* Don't nap, naps are best taken in the mid-afternoon.
But if insomnia persist, consult a doctor.
Question: How and where did insomnia originate? I have this report to do for health class. Well, it was supposed to be on a type of disease. When I chose insomnia, I did not know insomnia wasn't a disease or disorder, but a symptom of different diseases and diorders. I told my teacher and she told me to work it out. Can anyone help?
Answer: "How and where did insomnia originate?" -- This cannot be answered. Sorry.
Your teacher gave you good advice but you didn't follow it. Did you run a search for "causes of insomnia"??
Question: What´s the best home remedy against insomnia? Please no drugs or pills, just home remedies that can help with occasional insomnia. Thanks!
Answer: Do not drink caffeine if you can possibly avoid it. If you NEED it, only in the morning.
Make sure your meal schedule is reasonable. Don't eat past 7pm.
Don't nap during the day.
Don't look at a TV, Computer, or anything else very bright for a half an hour or so before trying to sleep.
Make sure you are comfortable in your bed.
Try counting. Just keep counting. To 5000, if you have to. If you make it to 5000 see a doctor.
Breathe deeply and try to clear your mind before sleeping.
Excercise during the day to release energy.
Some people read in bed and that makes them sleepy.
Hope these tips help.
Question: What is the best remedy for a chronic insomnia? I've been sleepless for 3 consecutive days. I tried melatonin from GNC but it just made me dizzy but not sleepy at all. I've been feeling backpain and dizziness due to sleeplessness. What are some practical solutions to my insomnia? I've been an insomniac since I was a teen. Pls. advise.
Answer: I've had insomnia since I was a teenager too. It's awful. My story is at http://www.fms-help.com/insomnia.htm. I am now 56. A list of things I've tried for sleep is at http://www.fms-help.com/sleep.htm. I hope you will find some help. My doc recently switched my meds around and I'm starting to sleep sounder, although not as long as other people. Check out my homepage too at http://www.fms-help.com. Chronic insomnia can wreck your health and immune system, so it's important to find a doc who will work with you on it to find a med that works for you, but doesn't give you too many bad side effects, like next day hangover. Of course, you could always try some OTC sleep meds first. If they work, you won't need to see doc for something stronger.
Question: How can I manage the insomnia associated with stopping Remeron? I stopped taking Remeron last Thursday (as directed by my psychiatrist), and have been experiencing moderate insomnia. Note that insomnia was never a problem before (on or off Remeron). I tried Valerian but it doesn't seem to hit the target and I feel wired. Does anyone have experience/suggestions that helped?
Answer: Alot of people that have used prescription medications such as this one have suffered this problem at one varied point or another in their life, some even more than others such as possibly your case. However, there are many that do not want to use addictive drugs and that is completely understandable, but I know how to treat insomnia, naturally. For a very economical price you can get a natural melatonin supplement from your local Wal-Mart in the vitamin section which helps your body to produce more natural Serotonin at bed time to enhance sleep. There are zero side effects, other than a good nights sleep, and it is non-habit forming. It is just a great vitamin supplement.
Search the key word "Melatonin" on your Yahoo search engine to confirm what I'm telling you. It naturally provides me a great nights sleep every night after trying for years to sleep at night before I found this dietary supplement. I wake refreshed and full of energy as I am only promoting my body's own ability to sleep. The best brand comes in a purple bottle from the company "Natrol" and is labeled Melatonin 5mg (1 tablet at night). Again, it is non-narcotic as it is a natural supplement and is found in the vitamin and health section at your local Wal-Mart. It's the best kept secret for sleep I've ever experienced for a great nights sleep every night. By helping the body to produce more Serotonin, which is your body's "chill out" hormone, the Melatonin lowers stress, eases your mind, and thus promotes restful sleep.

I am trying to put together a mix CD about insomnia and/or not being able to sleep for my Mom, who is suffering from trauma induced insomnia. I am looking for pretty much any genre of music, although she's a baby boomer, so she's not much of a death metal gal, if you know what I mean. Thanks in advance for your help!

Question: When did your pregnancy insomnia start if at all? I cannot sleep well nowadays.I am only 17 wks and cant sleep? Since 2 days.I have to pee at least 2-3 times in the night. If I have any thoughts they keep me up as well.I have constipation and gas which irritates me most at night and the bloated belly comes in the way.Did anyone start getting pregnancy insomnia this early. Will lack of sleep affect the baby?
Answer: i know EXACTLY what ur saying. it started for me about 15 weeks pregnant and now im 22 weeks and im still on the same boat. i pee like 4 times a night and my belly makes it hard to find a comfy position, i told my doc, he said it was normal and to just try to relax as much as possible. with my first pregnancy i literally had no pregnancy symptoms and i remember i would sleep all the time, but now with this one its a total 360 lol
Question: Any tips to help insomnia without getting medication? I have had insomnia for about a year now and I can't really afford to go to the doctor and then pay for medication.
Any tips for me?
Answer: You are not missing out. While drugs may help knock you out, they do not cure the problem (i.e., why can't you sleep) - they just offer temporary solutions with multiple side effects.
The real question is not so much HOW to get to sleep, but WHY you don't you sleep. Address the WHY and you will solve the HOW. Too many drugs and natural solutions only address the HOW.
I like solutions like this ebook called "Natural Sleep Secrets" which addresses the why, not just the how. http://www.naturalsleepsecrets.reclaimin… . It lists many drug-free alternatives depending upon the cause of your sleeplessness and specifically what doesn't work.
The "End Tiredness Program" also peaked my curiosity because if you can better the quality of your sleep, then you can do with less sleep, and maybe have less problem with insomnia: http://stop-being-tired.bestlife123.com.
If you really want to address the HOW, there are a couple natural remedies that use sounds like Sleep Tracks (http://www.sleeptracks.naturesmachine.com/). Actually, the website doesn't give you that much info up front, but there are a couple other sound-based programs that have you listen to specially created dvds at night.
Good luck getting some zzzzzs . . . . and don't worry - this will pass!
Question: How can i improve my memory again after suffering from insomnia? I mean is there a way i can get it back the way it was before i had insomnia?
I mean is there a way i can get it back the way it was before i had insomnia? I dont suffer from it anymore My memory is not so bad but i thought my memory would be back the way it was when i was able to sleep again. No its not amnesia.
Answer: hit the gym...increasing blood flow and endorphins into your brain or the feel good chemicals will help you in everyway and will wear you out so you can sleep.
Question: How do I find the right doctor for my anxiety and insomnia? I have to find a doctor that accepts my insurance (Humana HMO) and will help me with my anxiety and insomnia. I tried going to the website and picking a doctor at random, and he was horrible, he didn't help at all. I don't have time to go doctor shopping, but my symptoms are getting out of control.
Answer: Take a vacation , go to the beach , take a mental day off , meditate , get delta wave cds for relaxation , practice breathing techniqes ...before bed
