Question: Does this mean that I am intolerant to artificial sweetners or something? Whenever I have Truvia, my stomach gets extremely bloated and I get bad diarhea. I read on a website that I dont even have to count the carbs in there, because I am intolerant? And that means that my body doesn't absorb it? Is that true? And yes, i know I sound stupid on here, but I just noticed it because this is my second time having it.
So is this similar to lactose intolerance?
Answer: Truvia is not an artificial sweetener. It is all natural.
You are intolerant of the Erythritol. Yes you could say it is similar to lactose intolerance.
If you want to try a pure Stevia product I suggest Sweetleaf: http://www.sweetleaf.com/
Question: Can you become lactose intolerant without being born with it? Do you have to be born lactose intolerant, or can you develop an intolerance after a couple years? And what are the symptoms of being lactose intolerant?
Answer: Yes. you do not have to be born with it. It is something you can grow into and grow out of as well.
Syptoms include:
abdominal pain
more "gas" then usual
bloating
diarrhea
nausea
keep in mind that most of these symptoms can also indictate other gastrointestinal conditions and you should talk with your doctor about it.
Question: How is it that a person who is lactose intolerant is not also glucose intolerant? This may come off as a silly question, but I can`t find a logical answer:
How is it that a person who is lactose intolerant is also not glucose and galactose intolerant (since lactose is a disaccaride made up of glucose and galactose).
I know that it`s impossible that a person can be glucose intolerant.
I`m very curious - please answer :)
Answer: lactose intolerant people lack the enzyme lactate. no enzyme no break down of the polysaccharide.
glucose passes through the phospholipid bilayer of cells, and is used within cell in the mitochondion to produce ATP, adenisine triphosphate, cellular energy.
galactose also needs an enzyme, galactate, and someone could very well be galactose intolerant
Hope it helped
Question: How does a person who is lactose intolerant enjoy cheesecake? Though she enjoys making cheesecake, my wife is lactose intolerant. She makes the best cheesecakes EVER, but she never gets to enjoy them because of all the dairy that goes into making them upsets her stomach.
Are there any lactose free alternative ingredients for cheesecake?
Thanks in advance.
Answer: Vegan Tofu Cheesecake Recipe
You won’t believe that this easy (and yummy!) blender tofu cheesecake recipe is cholesterol-free and packed full of healthy soy protein. I like to make a peanut buttery Nutter Butter cookie crust and sprinkle some extra cookie crumbs on top. You could also serve with fresh fruit or a fruit sauce. Another idea is to use a pre-made chocolate crust and drizzle the top with chocolate syrup or fudge. This recipe is a tasty way to add more soy to your diet.
1 container Tofutti brand cream cheese alternative
12 oz or one package silken tofu
1/3 cup soy milk
1/3 cup corn starch
1 tsp vanilla
6 tbsp maple syrup
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
3 tsp egg replacer
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 pre-made pie crust
Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.
Mix the egg replacer with the water in a small bowl until smooth and add to blender. Blend together all ingredients, except for oil and crust at medium speed until smooth
Question: What are good lunch ideas for lactose intolerant children? Our family recently discovered that my little brother is lactose intolerant. So I was wondering about how to pack his lunches.
Thank You!
Answer: Cheese is often avoided by those who are lactose intolerant, but ripened cheeses like Cheddar contain only about 5% of the lactose found in whole milk, and aged cheeses contain almost none. so you can look into that for substitutes. no milk, so juices or water as a drink. no yogurt. you can always look in the "vegan" sections, since they usually have a soy version of anything that is usually made with milk.
Question: What is the best milk alternative for lactose intolerant people? I want to know whether there is such a thing as a milk substitute for lactose intolerant people. I normally eat my cereal with milk but after eating I notice that my stomach gets upset. Can you suggest any substitute to milk in my cereal which would not make my stomach upset yet retain the taste of milk? Thanks.
Answer: There is lactose-free milk! I see it sold in the supermarkets in the metropolitan Philadelphia, PA area. Its more expensive than regular milk.
Thanks for asking your Q. I enjoyed taking the time to answer it!

Question: What are the symptoms of a toddler being lactose intolerant? My son just turned 1 years old and he's been on whole milk for about a week now. Im wondering what are the signs and symptoms of being lactose intolerant? He seemed to be fine for the first few days, but now he's starting to get constipated and some days he has alot of bowel movements through out the day that are mustard yellow. Is this what happens to most babies that are introduced to whole milk and his body is adjusting or does it sound like an intolerance?
Answer: What you're describing sounds more like he's getting used to whole milk - if you are looking for issues related to an intolerance of lactose, it would be that he would be having very loose motions within an hour or two after consuming whole milk, and he may also have a very nasty smell to his breath (that of hydrogen sulphide, or "rotten eggs", which is a classic sign of lactose intolerance).
The other thing would be that with a lactose intolerance, he would be getting some tummy ache, so you may notice him curling up or laying on his side with his knees drawn up to his tummy.
Pull him off the whole milk for now, just for a day or two and see if he regulates back to what he would "normally" be (i.e, whatever is normal for him) - if he does, seek some advice from your pediatrician as to a course of action, such as the use of Lactase drops in his milk, or moving him to soya milk and a milk free diet.
Hope that helps.
Question: How do you cure a lactose intolerant moment? My boyfriend found out he was lactose intolerant after it was too late. He ate some cheesy pizza and then ate cheesy pasta for dinner. He then realized he was lactose intolerant, since he always reacted to dairy products lke this. Now he has had bad abdominal pains for 2 days. He doesn't have health insurance. Is tylenol good to take?
Answer: he will just have gas, diarehea and he will be fine. Take some gas pills, hot tea, and maybe a stool softener
I am lcactose intolerant does not need a doctor for this
Question: How do you know if your baby is Lactose intolerant? I have a 7wk old daughter and it has been suggested a few times that she may be lactose intolerant. What exactly are the symptoms? I don't want to change her to soya milk unless I have to because I know changing their formula is very upsetting for them.
Answer: If she was lactose intolerant she would not be able to keep her formula down. She would be vomiting it back up pretty much all the time .
The soy formula is not only expensive but it smells horrible! I did have to give that to my son when he was running a high fever & couldn't keep anything down. The soy formula did work on helping his tummy but thankfully he only had to take it temporarily. Studies have also shown that babies that were fed soy formula hit puberty at an earlier age.
Question: How do you know if your infant is lactose intolerant? My 15 month old has just swiched to 3% (whole milk), about 1 1/2 ago. He was on formula(Alimentum) up until I swiched him.
The past three days he has been having weird poop, about two a day more smelly and really soft. He doesn't have a fever and he is eating well. No new foods was introduced to him other then the whole milk.
Is this a sign that he might be lactose intolerant?
I meant 1 1/2 weeks ago!
When he was 3 weeks old, we put him on cow's milk based formula, and then he had colic, so we swiched him to Alimentum (that has no cow's or soy in it)
And the pain went away after a few days.
It was my doctor who suggested that I put him on that formula, because he had colic. We tried putting him on soy but he would spit the entire bottle up. The cows milk gave him a ton of gas and put him through a ton of pain. So when we swiched him to that formula(alimentum) he inproved dramatically.
He is well past the colic stage.
I just want to learn more about the symptoms of being lactose intolerent!
Answer: It's common for a baby with casein (milk protein) allergy to also be allergic to soy protein, so it sounds like that may be what you are looking at, rather than lactose intolerance. Lactose intolerance causes gas and bloating and is extremely rare under the age of 5.
"Cow's milk sensitivity or allergy can cause colic-like symptoms, eczema, wheezing, vomiting, diarrhea (including bloody diarrhea), constipation, hives, and/or a stuffy, itchy nose." (quoted from Kellymom.com)
The good news is that almost all babies outgrow this sensitivity by 3 years.
Question: How can i get good bacteria if im lactose intolerant? I used to eat loads of yoghurt before i found out i am lactose and dairy intolerant. What can i eat instead. I don't want to take pills to get it.
Answer: soy yoghurt....it's pretty nice once you get used to it....also you can buy those inner health plus pills if you're worried about getting enough good bacteria but they're expensive. I'd take them once a week if you get them so they last longer
Question: What happens to wheat intolerant people if they eat wheat? I am wheat intolerant but i'm starving over here.. The doctor wont let me eat anything with wheat in it and that is about 75% of food. I've lost 6 pounds and its only been 4 days. I can't eat my brothers birthday cake. Just what would happen if I ate wheat?
Answer: when you eat wheat it damages the lining of the intestine which makes it less able to do its job. The intestine is used to absorb nutrients from the food you eat, it has tiny little cells called villi and micro villi on it which increase the surface area, hense increasing the amount of nutrients which can be absorbed the whea damages these villi making it harder for you to absorb the nutrients.
Hope that helps
