Question: How much water do runners have to drink a day? How much water do runners have to drink a day?
Also, are electrolights important ?
And, what are some key nutrients for runners?
What foods are they found in?
Thanks!
Answer: I don't know how much water runners need to drink each day, but I have read and heard from my high school nurse that one should drink one ounce of water for every pound that one weighs. For example, I weigh about 110, so I need 55 ounces of water each day, give or take. If you divide your weight by 16, you'll have the number of cups of water you need each day.
Electrolytes are important. If you are working out for more than half an hour, you will need more electrolytes. Electrolytes are basically salts and sugars.
Runners need the same vitamins as everyone else (all of the vitamins and minerals), plus extra B vitamins for metabolism because the body uses up more B vitamins when it is under stress (physical or otherwise). I suggest taking a good multivitamin with minerals in it.
B vitamins are found primarily in grains and meats. I'll break it down for you:
B1 (Thiamin) is found in "whole wheat, soybeans, egg yolks, fish, oatmeal, peanuts, organic meats, lean pork, most vegetables, bran, and milk."
B2 (Riboflavin) is found in "milk, liver, cheese, green leafy vegetables, fish, eggs, yogurt, and beans."
B3 (Niacin) is found in "fish, lean meat, whole wheat products, liver, wheat germ, fish, eggs, roasted peanuts, the white meat in poultry, avocados, dates, figs, and prunes."
B6 (Pyridoxine) is found in "wheat bran, wheat germ, liver, fish, soybeans, cantaloupe, cabbage, blackstrap molasses, unmilled rice, eggs, oats, peanuts, and walnuts."
B12 (Cobalamin) is found in "liver, beef, pork, eggs, milk, cheese, and fish."
Once again, don't just focus on B vitamins. Focus on all of the vitamins and minerals. Take a multivitamin and eat a balanced diet. Enjoy your running!
Question: Can calcium supplements be taken in conjunction with others? I heard once that calcium will block the absorption of other key nutrients if they are taken after te same meal. Is this true? I usually like to split my supplements (like multi) up and take them throughout the day. A full calcium citrate supplement is taken in three pills, so I'm trying to figure out how to get an adequate amount of calcium every day.
Answer: I do, but then the brand I take is organic with a 2:1 ratio of Calcium to Magnesium (which the former needs in order to absorb properly), so there's no question of any block or interference.
Question: How do Nutrients enter the environment of the Florida keys? And how are they affecting the environment?
Answer: nutrients are good for the environment
Question: Suqestion about plants, mineral nutrients, chlorophyll molecules, coenzymes, and amino acids? Plants must obtain which mineral nutrient(S) that is (are) a key part(s) of chlorophyll molecules, coenzymes, and amino acids?
A- magnesium
B- nitrogen
C- A and B
D- none of the above
Thank you
Answer: I think it is nitrogen.
This is bcause nitrogen is a primary compound in Coenzymes and Amino acids (Recall :Nitrogen bases)
Also you might have heard of nitrogen fertilizers which links to plants need nitrogen too.
Whereas Magnesium and A and B is not present in either of the compounds but plants.
Hence it is B. Nitrogen
Question: What are some physical signs that somebody isn't getting enough nutrients? What are some key physical signs that a person is not eating enough protein or enough in general? Not specifically to lose weight, but in general. Thanks!
Answer: they always lose weight. they get pale. sweaty. weak. listless. poor memory.
Question: How would i write my prewrite with this essay i wrote 5 minutes ago??? Vegetarianism is a diet that is being adopted by a lot of people since it equated to a healthy lifestyle. There are many claims that a vegetarian diet does not provide all the nutritional needs of a person especially the protein needs. Animals are classified as carnivores, herbivores and omnivores. Carnivores are known as the meat-eaters and they have specialized teeth called canine that could tear through meat. Herbivores eat only plant matter and they have flat teeth that they use to grind plant matter. Omnivores on the other hand eat both meat and plant matter. Humans are classified as omnivores; evidence of this is that humans have both sets of specialized teeth.
Vegetarianism is classified into different classes. Ovo-vegetarians do not include meat in their diets but they approve of eggs while lacto-ovo-vegetarians approve of milk and other dairy products and egg. Lacto-vegetarians eat dairy products but disapprove of eggs while vegans follow strict diets that include only food form plant sources. They strictly follow a no-meat diet (Vegetarianism).
There are a number of reasons why people choose to be vegetarians. Many adopt this diet because of health concerns but a vegetarian diet must be monitored since some vegetarians diets may prove to be unhealthy such that the person may lack a sufficient intake of some key nutrients and vitamins such as Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, calcium, protein, iron and zinc (Vegetarian Diets).
It is recommended that vegetarian diets include a large variety of foods and they must also make sure that their calorie intake is sufficient to meet their energy needs. Intake of sweet and fatty food should be kept to a minimum since these foods have low nutrients but have a high calorie content. Whole or unrefined grains ars recommended. Fortified or enriched cereals are also a good main diet. Fruits and vegetables must always be included since they are good sources of Vitamin A and Vitamin C. If a vegetarian approves of dairy products, he must choose dairy products that have no fat or have less amount of fat. Eggs are however high in cholesterol and egg intake must be monitored. It is however a good source of protein (Vegetarian Diets).
In the book Diet for A Small Planet, Frances Moore Lappe indicates how the required intake of protein can be satisfied with a vegetarian diet. He suggests a breakfast that includes one cup of cooked oatmeal that has 5.4 grams of protein and 0.5 ounces of sunflower seeds that have 3.5 grams of protein. A lunch of 2 tablespoons of peanut butter with 7.8 grams of protein and 2 slices of whole wheat bread for 4.8 grams. For dinner, he recommends a cup of cooked brown rice for 3.8 grams and 1.3 cups of broccoli for 6.2 grams and a cup of cooked beans for 15.6 grams of protein. He also recommends other minor sources of protein such as mushroom, carrots, apples, raisins, fruit juice, honey and oil (White and Frank).
Vegetarianism may however not be a healthy diet for children. According to Professor Lindsay Allen, director of the US Agricultural Research Service’s Western Human Nutrition Research Centre at the University of California at Davis, not giving children meat during the crucial stages of development is unhealthy for them. Allen said that a no-meat diet for children causes permanent damage since meat provides Vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, Vitamin A and iron, which are crucial for growth and development. She explained that adults adopting vegetarian diets raise ethical and health concerns since adults have already passed the crucial stages of development. Also, adults can replace certain vitamin and mineral intake with supplements. Allen said that giving children supplemental nutrition is too risky (Roche, 2005).
In her study with 544 seven-year old children in Kenya over a two-year period, those children that ate meat had 80 percent increase in muscle mass and those that had milk had a 40 percent increase. They also showed higher mental development as they yielded higher test results (Roche, 2005).
Vegetarian diets have also become an issue for vegetarians since they have higher nutritional requirements. Such a diet may be healthy for pregnant weapon but they must consult a dietitian to ensure that they are getting all the nutrients that they need. In one study, German researchers discovered that pregnant women following a lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet showed low Vitamin B12 levels even if they ate eggs and milk. Vitamin B12 is important for a pregnant woman since it keeps her healthy during a pregnancy as well as keeping the developing child from developing spinal malformations (McVeigh, 2005). It may be noted that B12 is only found in meat sources. Scientists have also discovered that even people not following a vegetarian diet showed a deficiency of Vitamin B12 (Kirchheimer, 2003).
Vegetarianism may be a healthy diet since it may reduce the potential of developing certain illnesses. More and more people are adopting this diet. However, extra-precaution must be taken since monitoring the diet of a vegetarian is crucial so that it may be ensured that he/she is receiving a sufficient intake of nutrients. This is extremely important especially for young people and pregnant women who are vegetarians. A vegetarian diet may be a diet as healthy as a diet containing milk but for it to be a healthy planning, it must be planned and consideration must be taken so that the person will have a sufficient intake of necessary vitamins and minerals.

Answer: i'm not going to strain my eyes to read all of that...
Question: Do nutrition labels list all the vitamins and minerals contained in the food? I ask because I read that certain foods are good sources of a particular nutrient, yet sometimes that's not reflected in the label. I realize that some foods lose nutrients through processing, but do companies only list certain "key" nutrients?
Answer: I think its against the law to mislabel food labels in terms of nutritional content. I'm likely more to believe the nutritional content label than what i've read in magazines... So i guess to answer your question, if it says so on the nutritional content label then thats whats in it. hope this helped. :-)
Question: The term malnutrition refers to people who? A. eat less than the basic minimum number of daily calories

D. suffer from lack of protein and other key nutrients
E. eat too much protein
Answer: The term malnutrition refers to people who
D. suffer from lack of protein and other key nutrients
It can also refer to ANY serious imbalance in the diet.

Question: What can you say about this vitamin call nature made multi for her with iron and calcium, and also have D3? and its said 23 keys nutrients for daily nutritional support , have anyone use it, did it work, i'm 20 can i use it
Answer: Look on the label and see if it has Magnesium Stearate, silica, and other excipients. If it does, it is junk and is damaging your body. Also write the company or call them and ask them to put in writing to you that the "B" vitamins in the pill does NOT come from the petroleum distillate, Coal Tar. If the vitamin C in the pill says it is Ascorbic Acid, realize that you are creating lots of problems from just that.
Synthetic chemical activators that are being called vitamins damage your DNA and are not good for you.
The typical ascorbic acid that is called vitamin C by many is not really vitamin C, but a component of the true vitamin C complex. Vitamin C was discovered by the Nobel Prize laureate, Dr. Albert Szent-Georgi in 1937. As part of his research on vitamin C, he found that he could not cure scurvy with the isolated ascorbic acid as a single element.
The complete complex of vitamin C includes ascorbic acid and contains ascorbinogen, bioflavonoids, rutin, tyrosinase, Factor J, Factor K, and Factor P. In addition, mineral co-factors must be available in proper amounts. If any of these parts are missing, there is no vitamin C, no vitamin activity. When some of them are present, the body will draw on its own stores to make up the differences, so that the whole vitamin complex may be present. Provided that all other conditions and co-factors are present, the vitamin activity will take place. Ascorbic acid is described merely as the "antioxidant wrapper" portion of vitamin C; ascorbic acid protects the functional parts of the vitamin from rapid oxidation or breakdown.
Is it any wonder that people that take typical multivitamins end up living about 5% less longevity than those that do not take them?
It is true that our food supply has been trashed by modern agriculture and the food industry focused on profit, not health and we need to supplement our diet as a result, but most of the garbage being sold in stores is also focused on profit, not real health. That is very sad to say, but more money is spent by companies on promotion and marketing than on focusing on making their products really healthy. For anyone to say all you need to do is eat food you find in typical stores today and that will supply you with all the vitamins and minerals you need is ignorant of the truth and nutrition. There is good reason that over 53% of ALL Americans as of the CDC 2005 report, are chronically ill. It is not from a deficiency of drugs. And for the average life expectancy of Americans to be in their 70's just shows how bad it really is.
I have searched the world and found only one company that has NO excipients, highly cellular resonant nutrition that the body actually utilizes and tests strong to energetic testing. Only one.
good luck to you
Question: what veggie has the most nutrients and very effective defense mechanism from any sickness/diseases? staying healthy is my best key to stay in shape. LOL :D
Answer: It has been said that if brocolli were a patent medicine it would be a sure best seller. But your best bet is to not rely on any one vegetable. By all means eat plenty of brocolli (raw and steamed are the best way), but also eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetable which have a wide spectrum of colors.
Don't foreget to also get plenty of essential fatty acids and healthy oils in your diet. Coconut oil is a wonderful addition to any diet. And stay away from refined sugar, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, bleached white flour, junk food, fast food and as much as you can the highly processed foods on the grocers shelves that have had most of the natural nutrition processed out and dangerous additives processed in for shelf life, taste, color and texture.
Of all the items that may be difficult to get from diet alone, magnesium may be the most trickey - which is why it has been variously estimated that 80-95% of us are deficient in magnesium.
Some of the best food sources of magnesium are: Pumpkin and Squash seed kernels, Brazil nuts, Halibut, Quinoa, Spinach, Almonds, Buckwheat, Cashews, Pine nuts, Mixed nuts, White beans, Pollock, Walleye, Black beans, and Oat bran.
Question: What am I missing out on? I have been a vegetarian for the past 2 1/2 months and I absolutely love it. I get to debate with my friends, family, and help the world and my body all at the same time. I am concerned that I am missing key nutrients though and haven't found any straight answers. I get probably the same amount of protein as when I was eating meat and I take a multivitamin. Is there any measures specifically I need to take in order to become a healthy vegetarian?
Answer: No you are not missing out on anything. You are getting more than when you were on a meat diet.
Meat is high in protein, people say you need protein, yes but too much is not good. Meat protein is like driving around town in a semi- trailer. Eat fruit and you're driving a Ferrari.
Raw fruit and veg has EVERYTHING you need. Just ask an elephant, or gorilla.
To Sharif...
a lion eats raw meat, lions always eat the digested matter first before they eat the muscle. And...they always eat a herbivore. They will not eat another carnivore because there is no goodness. Do you eat plant matter filled intestines? When you do that then and only then, are you a meat eater carni/omni or whatever it is you call yourself.
And my semi/Ferrari analogy was for protein. Why drive a semi when you can drive a Ferrari. You want people to eat meat and I want people to be healthy. We have a different goal.
Question: love making and body building at same time? what you think? is it bad to masturbate or sex you are going to gym to build some muscle and shape. what are the key nutrients flushed away from our body whenever we sex or masturbate( because we feel need for relax and sleepy after intercourse).
and how to quickly fill our body with energy after this.
does this mean a professional bodybuilder never masturbate or sex? because masturbate and sex makes their muscle and body weak and sleepy for next day .
can you please explain am i right or wrong in my views?
Answer: You are absolutely wrong in your views.Love making or indulging in sex and body building can go together. It is true that after intercourse or masturbate one feel sleepy some times or wants relax. It is because intercourse itself is a kind of body exercise.I would say rather it is one of the best body exercises. On the contrary if one knows as to how to indulge in intercourse using different 'asanas' as described in 'Kamasutra' it helps him in his body building program. It is totally wrong belief that masturbate or sex makes muscle and body weak or feel sleepy next day.
Question: DOG NUTRITION EXPERTS: Is this a good homemade meal for my dog? Can you please review the following and tell me if this is a good meal for my dog?
45% protein (either ground sirloin or fresh boiled chicken)
45% veggie mix (canned sweet potato, frozen green peas, scrambled egg)
10% white rice
I then mix in a bit of chicken broth and 1 capsule Thorne Labs Gastriplex and 1 capsule Thorne Labs probiotic.
So far he is doing well, stomach wise, but want to make sure I am not missing any key nutrients.
Would I be better off just mixing the ground sirloin with a dry food (like Canidae) and not using the homemade veggie mix?
Answer: Personally, I would stick to a good quality complete dog food suitable for they type of dog you hve and it's lifestyle. It's nutritionally balanced to suit your dogs needs, keep it's weight right etc.
Question: My rabbit only eats fresh fruits and veggies...? She will eat hay, carrots, apples, broccoli and carrots, but she hasn't touched the pellet/feed mix. I don't mind buying her fresh food all the time, but will she be missing key nutrients? How can I make sure she is healthy?
Answer: You can feed a pellet free diet. But you need at least 5 different veggies a day and lots of them.
Carrots, apples and broccoli are a good start. You should add some leafy greens like lettuce (no iceberg), cilantro, parsley, and kale.
http://www.rabbit.org/care/veggies.html -a list of bunny safe veggies.
You might want to get a nutritional supplement, a liquid one to put in water is a good choice.
Keep some pellets out just in case
