Question: does vitamin D drop supplement affect birth control? Does a vitamin D supplement, in liquid drop form affect birth control?
Answer: Nope.
Question: Vitamin Supplement for Small Birds? I have a parakeet and am interested to find him liquid vitamins with iodine. Can you recommend any good ones based on your experience?
Thank you.
Thank you guys for your explanations. Our vet was giving his birds the iodine sometimes, but it's good to know this is not a must.
Answer: I wouldn't give him any vitamins unless prescribed by an avian vet. Your parakeet may not need the vitamins or iodine if he is eating a well-balanced diet. Iodine is usually only given to parakeets with goiter. I would consult with an avian vet on this issue.
Question: Any recommendations on the best vitamin supplement for a 10 month olf boy? My son is in daycare three days a week and we all keep getting sick. I whened him from nursing at nine months and I would like to start him on a liquid multi. Sites that I can buy from are also appreciated.
Please no more answers like ask my doctor. That's not helpful. I know it's okay for him to be on a vitamin supplement all ready, I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas of one. If you don't then please don't answer.

Question: What nutrients from foods (vegan) can you get on liquid diet? I am currently on a liquid diet for throat-swallowing reasons, what nutrients from foods (vegan) can you get on liquid diet without having to take a vitamin supplement? Have to get all daily nutrients! It is easy getting them being a vegan, but on a liquid diet?!
Answer: B12- Make a smoothie with fortified soy milk.
Fiber- Silk soy milk has a fiber plus type of milk. You can blend together some beans (black, kidney, baked). Put some veggies through a juicer (artichoke, peas, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, zucchini, celery). And some almonds, oats, fruits (prunes, plums, berries), & quinoa to your smoothie.
Iodine- Add kelp, strawberries, agar-agar, dried fruit, & pears to the juices and smoothies!
Vitamin D - This is found in soy milk & spirulina.
Omega-3 fatty acids - Throw in some flax seed oil/ground, walnuts, &/or tofu to the juices and smoothies!
Omega-6 fatty acids - Same as above plus blended nuts.
Calcium - Soy milk, rice milk, orange juice, blended tofu, dried fruit/figs, seeds and nuts (almonds, brazilsnuts, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame), broccli, parsley, beans (black, pinto, navy, kidney, soy), & kale.
Proteins - Soy milk, blended Nuts & seeds (almond, cashew, walnuts, sunflower), beans, (black, lentils, lima, pinto, soy) peas, nutritional yeast, chickpeas, peanuts, peanut butter, tofu, & brown rice.
Dietary mineral:
Magnesium- (5 to 10m) Nuts, soy beans, and cocoa.
Potassium- (2000g) Legumes, potato skin, tomatoes, and bananas.
Sulfur- (15 mg) Legumes.
Iron-(2.8mg) Spinach, potato, beans (black, lentils, pinto, soy), quinoa, tempeh, peas, nuts (cashews, almonds), watermelon, meat subs, broccoli, seaweeds, dried apricots, wholemeal bread, raisins, prunes, dates, seeds (sesame, sunflower, pumpkin), legumes, oatmeal, dark-green leafy veg, cabbage, tofu, pulses, wheat-germ, parsley, millet, blackstrap molasses, tomato juice, soy milk, whole wheat bread, cream of wheat.
Zinc-dried seaweed, pumpkin, sesame & sunflower seeds, pine nuts, whole grains, wholemeal bread, brown rice, lentils, almonds, wheat germ and oats.
Vitamin A - Soy milks, blended fruits, nuts, & vegtables.
Vitamin B1 - Oats and blendedd brown rice, pulses, nuts, & seeds.
Vitamin B2 - Blended almonds, whole grains, wild rice, soybeans, spinach, mushrooms.
Vitamin B3 - Blended whole grains, dried beans, & peas.
Vitamin B5 - Blended peanut butter, yeast extract, dried brewer's yeast, nuts, molasses, oats, barley, green vegetables.
Vitamin B6 - Blended bananas, oatmeal, wheat bran, soy and other beans.
Vitamin B7 - Blended whole grains, soybeans
Vitamin B9 Blended leafy greens such as spinach and turnip greens, broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms, dry beans peas, & soy milks.
Vitamin C Blended- Citrus fruits, green vegetables, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, peas, berries, currants, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, sprouted alfalfa seeds, parsley, & tropical fruits such as guavas, mangoes, kiwi fruit, & pineapple.
Vitamin E - Wheat germ, vegetable oil, blended avocado, whole grain products, & peanut butter.
Vitamin K - Blended leafy green vegetables such as spinach or kale, soy milk, & green tea.
I suggest you live off smoothies & juices till your health is back on track, with oatmeal (add soy/rice milk to make more liquidy), water, & soup!
Note: I listed each essential daily vitamins and then some easily blendable/juicable vegan foods to get it from, not the recipe or mixture, so you can choose what mix/blend what with what as far as juices, smoothies, oat meals, & soups!
Also some of these are high in fiber and low in sodium (I saw your other questions) but depending on how much fiber you need you might need to take stool softeners, laxatives, suppositories, or Magnesia to help with your stool. The average adult needs 25 grams of fiber per day. But some people need about 30-40 grams per day.
Good luck & get better! =)
Question: Iron supplement making me sleepy? I was thinking I might be anemic again, so I bought a high potency b-vitamin/iron liquid supplement. I found that 20 minutes or so after I take it, I am sleepy. I took it for 3 days and it does the same thing everytime. I thought if anything vitamins make you alert and ready for the day. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
Answer: Two things
Firstly you should consult a doctor if you suspect that you're anemic. Anemia in itself is usually a symptom of something else so I would make an appointment as soon as possible.
Secondly read the instructions on the bottle. Drowsiness is often a side effect of many medical preparations and if so it will be clearly stated and also advise you not to drive or operate machinery.
Hope it's nothing serious. Best wishes.
Question: is it safe for an 11 month old to drink cows milk? she's currently on similac go and grow formula for older babies age 9 thru 12 months. its so expensive and she drinks so much ...i was just wondering if i could start giving her cows milk and a liquid vitamin to supplement nutrients.
Answer: Doctors recommend that a baby should be switched to whole milk once they're a year old...so you've only got another month to wait...I'd wait if I were you, but you can always call a doctor and find out what her doctor thinks about making the switch early. A doctor's advice is going to be better than what any of us on Answers can say.
Question: Does anybody know the name of the liquid corn oil horse supplement that smells like cherries? I think it was fortified with other oil based vitamins...I haven't been able to find it since I moved, can't remember the name of it. I bought it in 5 gallon jugs, and I think I paid around $35 for it?
Hey sorry, guys...Yahoo farted and listed this twice. I deleted the second one and it didn't show any answers yet.

Question: Is dried grass a substitute for Timothy Hay for my guinea pig? I really want to use the grass from my back yard, dry it in the sun, and then feed it to my guinea pig instead of buying the expensive Timothy Hay. Will this still be healthy for my guinea pig, or do you advise me to stick to Timothy Hay?
I do already give liquid vitamin C supplements to my piggie.
Answer: I don't know for sure if grass can necessarily be a replacement for timothy hay, but I know one of the big reasons for guinea pigs to have timothy hay is tooth control. They chew on the hay to keep their teeth worn down, which means if you try to replace it with grass it does need to be dry grass. Fresh grass wouldn't have the same affect on the teeth. Having said that, fresh grass given along with a good supply of timothy hay is a great treat for a guinea pig.
You might check out www.guinealynx.com they are a great resource for guinea pig owners, and are also very good at answering questions just like this.
Question: can I take centrum in a form of a liquid together with a gummy vitamin such as flinstone and focus factor pill? I was wondering if I can conjoin all of these supplements together without any side effects I don't want anything bad to happen is this okay?
Answer: Definitely call them each and ask ......
If anything the Focus factor may contain overlapping ingredients as it is often considered a multivitamin anyways or it may even have caffeine which some vitamin products tell you not to take.
Calling the manufacturers will clarify these for you!
Good luck!
Question: How much is too much vitamin D, B12? (I originally posted this in Health > Diet & Fitness, but only received relentless spam and answers without scientific evidence or medical basis. After deleting the post, I have decided to post in this category hoping for a more specific and reliable answer. I appologize for any inconvenience.)
Being anemic, I am currently taking three supplements recommended by my doctor, iron, vitamin D and B12. I recently purchased SlimQuick, a weight-loss supplement I have used before, which contains both vitamins, D and B12. I am unsure if the amount of these vitamins I am consuming is beyond a healthy dosage. According to my doctor, any excess of needed vitamins will be urinated out, yet my worries remain.
Floradix Floravital (ferrous gluconate):
Vitamin B12 - 7.5 mcg (125% DV)
Vitamin D3 Supplement:
Vitamin D3 - 1000 IU (250% DV)
B-Complex Sublingual Liquid:
Vitamin B12 - 1,200 mcg (20,000% DV)
SlimQuick*:
Vitamin D - 200 IU (50% DV)
Vitamin B12 - 12 mcg (200% DV)
(Also includes 200 mcg of Folic Acid)
Total:
Vitamin D - 1,200 IU (300% DV)
Vitamin B12 - 1,219.5 mcg (20,325% DV)
The percentages are what worry me.
Note: In a blood test, both my vitamin D and B12 levels were between 5 and 8 units below the standard levels.
*SlimQuick contains, from what I can gather, natural ingredients that do not strike me as harmful.

Answer: Whether a vitamin can get to toxic levels in the body depends on whether they are lipid woluble or water soluble. Lipid soluble vitamins will accumulate in fat when taken in high doses and can then have toxic effectc. Water soluble vitamins will be excreted in the urine when taken in excess. Vitamins A,D, E and K are lipid soluble all the others are water soluble. I would therefore be wary of taken this supplement along with those recommended by your doctor. I would stick with what the doctor has given you and ask him/her for another blood test to check your levels after a few weeks.

Question: How Much Vitamin A is Too Much For 25 Y.O. Female? My daily vitamin contains 2500 IU of vitamin A. I also have liquid capsule supplements that are A and D combined. In this there is 5000 IU of vitamin A. Are these safe to be taking daily or should I alternate days?
Answer: The RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance, or the recommended amount you should have per day) is 700 micrograms per day
The UL (Upper Intake Level, or the most you should take or you might have negative effects) is 3000 micrograms per day
You can not experience toxicity (negative effects) if you do not take supplements, no matter how much natural (vitamin A in foods that don't have additional vitamin A added). Negative effects can only be experienced if you take too much supplemental vitamin A.
2500 IU is about 750 micrograms.
the RDA for vitamin A for men is 900 micrograms
You probably don't need to take vitamin supplements unless you have a vitamin A deficiency. The 5000 IU of vitamin A is not necessary unless your doctor recommended it because of a deficiency. It is always good to have Vitamin D supplementation, especially in the winter when you don't get a lot of sun. There are very few foods that contain Vitamin D. Milk has vitamin D added, in addition to containing natural vitamin D. Whole milk has the most natural vitamin D because it is a fat soluble vitamin and contained in the fat. When the fat is removed, vitamin D is also removed, but they add vitamin D to all milk. Egg yolks, butter, whole milk, fatty fish, fish oils, and mushrooms are some of the few foods that contain natural vitamin D.
Your body produces vitamin D when exposed to the sun. usually 10-15 minutes of sunlight 3 times a week is enough. depending on where you live, the sun isn't strong enough in the winter to synthesize any vitamin D, regardless of how long you spend in the sun. Black people sometimes need up to 3 hours of sunlight to synthesize enough vitamin D.
The RDA for vitamin D for people under 50 is 5 micrograms per day.
People ave 51-70 need 10mcg/day and people over 70 need 15 micrograms per day.
If there is one supplement that you should take, it is vitamin D3.
Question: can vitamins be bad for you?? I'll try 2 explain a little better this time. he is taking the right amount. but the thing is that when he is on them he is fine he is very healthy but the problem is that when he mises them even 1 day he cant function get gets very tired and cant think and i don't think it can be healthy to have that much of a dependence on vitamins. the things he takes are a liquid vitamin supplement, a vitamin c with hesperidin complex its a powder thing you mix with water and a thing that adds oxygen to your water. that is all the info i can give last time i listed the actual product and they would not let me post it.
Answer: vitamins can be bad for you if you get an overload of them in your system that doesn't sound like what is happening this sounds more mental.let him take them every day they are not harming him and every person needs vitamins everyone is dependent on them.
Question: VITAMINS!? please please help me? I was told by a nutritionist earlier in the week that a liquid vitamin supplement is "far superior" to that of a pill type.
Seeing as pills may not fully be absorbed by our bodies and a liquid almost has no choice.. makes sense.
But I would love to know two things if I may.
1: Has anyone heard of vitaplen? I've heard good things and wonder what the yahoo community thinks.
& 2: What type of liquid vitamin supplement would you (or do you) put your trust in?
Thanks! :)
Answer: Check this out.

Question: A good liquid multi-vitamin? I'm 25 yr old male with irritable bowel. I have trouble absorbing a lot of nutrients and supplements and many things upset my tummy. I'm pretty sensitive to herbs/stimulants as well.
Just looking for a high quality natural multi-vitamin, in liquid form.
Anyone reccomend a good one?
I'm considering:
http://www.iherb.com/Peter-Gillham-s-Natural-Vitality-Liquid-Organic-Life-Vitamins-32-fl-oz-95-l/5119?at=0
Answer: Hello Matty, Just because something is in liquid form does not make it highly assimilable. I looked at the site you mentioned and it really doesn't have that many elements and trace elements and could have some more vitamins. Plus it lists the Amino Acids but not how much of each. Some ingredients are listed as organic but are the rest synthetic which is harder for the body to break down. Just something to think about if your making a good choice.
What I take is 100% organic and can get in a powder form to mix in drinks and is over 95% assimilable in the stomach. I've been consuming for past 14 years.
Question: What are the risks of an all liquid diet? What are the risks of an all liquid diet? Not like replacing one or two meals a day with a replacement shake, but a nothing-but-liquid diet. I mean, I take vitamins and daily supplements, so I get those from pills, and the shakes I'd use are protein with a few carbs per serving. What would the risks be of this diet?
Only for like 2 weeks to a month though, I just want to loose about 20 pounds to make working out easier.
Answer: I lost 50 pounds by just changing my diet to a low-fat, low-protein, low-refined carb vegan diet comprised of mostly fresh foods. This is described in one of many programs described by Dr. Dean Ornish in his book: "The Spectrum"
A liquid protein diet will work, however, it's not healthy according to the research I've found. Hospitals make a lot of money with that program, but it lacks many of the ingredients in a real living foods. You are better off limiting your diet to:
+ Leafy Green vegetables (in a green smoothie)
+ Sprouted beans and brown rice/whole grains.
+ A small quantity of nuts and seeds.
+ Raw or steamed vegetables without butter or margarine
+ Raw Fruits
+ Omega 3 fatty acids
+ Vitamin B12
+ Sunshine on your skin or a small quantity of vitamin D
You should reduce or eliminate milk/dairy, meat, processed foods, and animal proteins. To be safe, you should make sure to take your ideal weight and multiply by 10. Your calorie intake should not go below that number for safety. If you do go below that number, your body goes into starvation mode and you will have real problems losing the weight.
