Low-carb
Question: Can you suggest a vegitarian recipe that is low-carb? I am on a low carb diet. I have a friend that is a vegitarian. I have invited her over to dinner. Is there a dish we can share?
Answer: Here is a site. It has many low carb veg. recipes. Hope it helps.
Question: Is it better to eat a low carb breakfast before working out? I plan on going to the gym in the morning after breakfast. Will I burn more fat if I eat a low carb breakfast since I'll have to use stored carbs for energy?
Answer: If there is ever a good time to have a few carbs, it is before you exercise. Then you will have the NRG to actually get a good workout or run or whatever it is that you are doing on a given day at the gym.
By failing to have some pre-workout carbs you will not have the power or endurance to complete your exercise with the intensity needed for slenderizing benefits. Carbs are not always your enemy, though a definite reduction in them at the proper times will ensure fat loss. Just remember there are certain times when they are helpful even when you are trying to slim down.
Question: How many carbs are in the cheesecake factory's low carb cheescake? I am on a no carb diet. I am looking for a treat. How many carbs are in the cheesecake factory's low-carb cheesecake?
please don't say that you are probably on a low carb diet, and don't have any fruit. I just want to know the nutrition facts, how many carbs. THATS ALL!
Answer: I asked last time I was there and they told me 8 carbs per slice. I also did my own research and found a report of 7 carbs and one of 6 carbs so I think 8 carbs is probably right. Its loaded with fat though, but for someone like me on a diabetic diet its great every blue moon or so. Hope this helps :-)
Question: Is there any low-carb food that tastes good? Aside from meat/tofu, fruits and veggies, does a good-tasting low-carb version of any food exist? I've tried low-carb bread and tortillas and chocolate and yogurt and etc, and I'm beginning to think it's impossible for low-carb food to actually taste appealing. I hope someone can change my mind!
Answer: Seriously?
I find it the opposite as it allows fat and dairy.

Question: When going out, what low carb alcohol drinks do you order, besides rum and coke? i dont like coke or pepsi, any other low carb suggestions, pls help.
Answer: A red wine spritzer ( red wine, soda water, ice, lemon) is a pretty good option. Miller lite has 3.2 carbs. I bring a bottle or can of Diet 7up/Sprite with me to my regular bar and ask them to mix my drink with that. Also, those single serve drink mixes ( Crystal light, Wylers, etc) are good options. Buy a bottle of water, mix, add to maybe Vodka on the rocks (vodka & lemonade, vodka & ice tea) Vodka has no carbs, and mixes with most things well.

Question: How much fat can you have on a low carb diet? I'm not interested in people's opinions of low carb/high fat diets. I simply want to know from people who follow them or know about them what the recommended amount of fat is, or if it is largely unrestricted. Thank you to all sincere answerers.
Answer: If you are following a strictly low carb diet, there is no restriction as to how much fat you can eat. Of course you should not eat buckets of fat because it is unhealthy but the diet puts not restriction on the fat intake. I have done the carb diet for over 2 years now and have every now and then I abused fat, eat a lot of fried things (low carb) and still loose weight. Low carb diets need to be also, well balanced with vitamins so make sure you keep a journal and most important of all, consult with your doctor.
Question: Can I go on a low carb and low fat diet while going on Accutane? Hi, I really want to go on this strict low cal low carb and low fat diet, and exercise as well. But, I heard that you should take the accutane pill with fatty foods, because it absorbs better? Any thoughts? Would it be dangerous or will the medicine not work well if I do go on this diet and exercise regime. Thank you.
Answer: I would suggest not doing Accutane right now. I am betting if you do a low carb way of eating, your hormones will balance out & you won't need Accutane.
A low carb diet should NEVER be low fat or low calorie. Otherwise you are using protein for fuel (which is not healthy) & leaves no protein for cellular needs which forces the body to catabolize it's own lean tissues. Fat is needed for hormone production, immune system & bone structure.
You can lose more body fat eating protein & fat (don't eat protein alone) than not eating AT ALL. To lose weight fast, eat all you want, but nothing but meat, eggs, healthy oils, mayo, butter & half an avocado a day (for added potassium). Keep the calories high & the fat percentage high, at least 65% of calories. Green vegetables & some cheese will continue weight loss but at a slower pace.
The first 2 weeks eat several cups a day of (mostly) lettuce & celery, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, peppers & more variety of vegetables thereafter - add 5 grams per day additional every week (20 grams day first 2 weeks, 25grams 3rd week, 30grams 4th week etc) til you gain weight, then subtract 10grams. That will be your personal carb level (everyone is different & depends on how active you are.)
Start with meat, fats & salads for 2 weeks and then slowly add in more green veg, wk4 fresh cheeses, wk5 nuts & seeds, wk6 berries, wk7 legumes, wk8 other fruits, wk9 starchy veg, wk10 whole grains. You will learn how your body reacts to different foods.
The first week is just water weight but fat is lost thereafter if you keep your calories high enough. Otherwise the body will strip it's own lean tissue for nutrition. Although that may look great on a scale it will make it MUCH easier to accumulate fat in the future (since all that pesky lean tissue burning up calories will be gone). The body won't release fat stores if you lower calories below what it needs. It will slow metabolism to compensate & store every spare ounce as fat. If you continue lowering calories, it will continue lowering the set point, til it can survive off nothing & store fat on anything. The body will only release it's fat stores if it knows there is plenty of nutritious food.
Eating carbs while trying to lose body fat is terribly inefficient. When in glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) you have to lower your calories (which slows your metabolism) & exercise heavily to deplete your glycogen stores before burning body fat.
The core of Atkins program is converting the body from glycolysis (burning glucose as fuel) to ketosis (burning fat as fuel). Dietary fat levels need to be at >65% of total calories, if not, the body will still remain in glycolysis by converting 58% of excess protein into glucose (via gluconeogenesis).
It takes about 3 days to convert a body to ketosis, (but only one bite to convert back to glycolysis). People feel sluggish the first week but most feel better than ever thereafter.
Carbohydrates (sugar, flour, bread, cereal, pasta, potatoes, rice, beans) trigger insulin (the ONLY fat storage hormone). Protein triggers the fat burning hormone glucagon.
Simple carbs are addictive & can be disastrous to health. The best way to break the addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs, eat one every time you want "something" - have huge omelets with bacon, sausage, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Pork chops smothered with peppers, mushrooms & cheese - pork rinds & dip or tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salad - steaks - a huge sugar free cheese cake. Eat so much you won't feel deprived of anything. By the 4th day, the addiction will be gone & you can start making healthy choices.
High insulin levels promote inflammation, weight gain, hunger & unbalance other hormones. Controlling insulin levels will balance out other hormones & allow human growth hormone (HGH) to be produced naturally so lean muscle will be gained even without exercise.
Ground flax seed (4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg - let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs.
As long as you have <9grams carbs per hour, you will maintain insulin control & shouldn't gain weight, no matter the calories because insulin, the fat storage hormone is not activated. Many people gain weight on high carb, do low carb to lose weight & then are shocked when they return to high carb & gain weight. Many people can return to moderate carb levels but very few can really eat all they want of sugar & maintain weight or health.
I am adamantly opposed to low calorie dieting because most people lose a good portion of lean tissue (including vital organs like the heart) along with fat stores. There is no nutrition in fat stores, only energy. Most people get impatient and lower their calories and increase their exercise to a point where they lose so much lean tissue that when they return to what was maintenance level eating they are now accumulating more fat stores because their caloric n
Question: how do i make a low carb whip cream? they say that heavy cream is low carb but when i looked at the lable i saw 1 carb for every tablespoon i think thats alot guess when its whipped the serving size changes i dont know explain ?
Answer: Simply, because some vendors add sugar to their cream and whipped cream. Try a generic store heavy cream instead, I'll be it's zero carb...
To make whipped cream, either get some whipits (Nitrous Oxide) or just whip it with an egg beater until it gets fluffy... You can add Equal or Sweet 'n' Low for sweetener...
Good luck...
Question: What would be a good low carb and high protein diet? I was told I need to go on a low carb high protein diet to lose a couple of extra pounds before i go to meps for military entrance. I just want to know some suggestions for a diet to do. I also will be doing cardio exercises daily as well as some light weightlifting (aiming for high reps more than high max). Thanks for your help
Answer: chicken breast, tuna, eggs without the yolk, low carb yogurt, whey protein isolate powder...just to name a few but you need your veggies and fruits too. And for beverages, drink nothing but water if you can. You also want to get plenty of fiber.Eating like that coupled with your exercise and you will lose weight fast, guaranteed. Also it is better to eat 4-6 small meals a day, evenly space rather than 3 big meals because it triggers your metabolism.
Question: Any recipes for low-carb pita bread and/or tortillas? I had some low carb tortillas when I was last in TX, and they were really good. Anyone have a recipe for either tortillas or pita bread?
Answer: Pita pizzas are good - take your pitas and top them with spinach, sliced or diced tomatoes, goat and/or feta cheese, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with a little salt and cracked pepper. Bake in a 350 oven for about 20 minutes. The pita crust gets crispy on the outside - they are good and make a nice light meal or cut in pieces for appetizers.
Question: What would be the great way to lose weight. without useing the low carb diet? I got to lose 20 pounds for the guard and low carb diets aren't working. What can I do?
Answer: weight watchers worked for me. good luck
Question: What is the best kind of diet pill to take with a low carb life style? I have been eating low carb for over a year now, and I feel stuck. I need something to help me start losing weight again.
Answer: Ignore all those spammers. The low carb lifestyle is the way to go. Do you exercise? Increase your exercise and you will not only lose weight and look better, you will FEEL better. You can keep a food and weight journal on http://www.lowcarbworld.net and record your weight and what you ate for the day. That way you can recognize patterns.
This is not that healthy but it is a lot healthier than wasting your money on dangerous diet pills: you can try only eating meat and eggs for one or two days, and it will break your stall and rev your metabolism. If you do this, please drink plenty of water and take a vitamin supplement. Eat some veggies if you weel dizzy, or too tired.
Question: What do you eat in order to get enough calories on a low carb diet? I've been on a low carb diet and so far my total calories have came to 800, 945, 660, and 1020. I know this is too low, but I don't know what foods to eat that will make my calorie intake increase. I've been eating eggs, bacon, tuna, spinach, olives, chicken, cheese, kiwi, banana peppers, nuts, sandwich ham, cucumber, and cottage cheese. I don't like beef.
Answer: acai berry is the best tool for diet
Question: Recipe for a low carb under 10gm chicken casserole? I want to make a chicken casserole but i want it to be a very low carb dinner.
Answer: Instead of pasta, throw the chicken in your casserole dish with a bag of specialty frozen veggie mix. You know what veggies your family and/or friends like best. Get a mix with those in it. You can get all sorts of special mixes nowadays in most grocery stores. When it's nearly done, top with grated cheese.
Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and brown in a skillet that's been sprayed with non-stick spray. Season to taste. I like a combination of salt, pepper, onion, and garlic. You can add a little water while it's cooking if it starts to stick. Be sure the chicken is done, then mix it with the frozen veggies and pile it into your casserole pan. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit about 30 min, then top with grated cheese and bake 10-15 min more. Yummers!
