I need to learn them perfectly word for word, so things like summarising and organising into lists wont work. Can anyone give any suggestions. Question: What is the difference between explicit memory and implicit memory? From my understanding, implicit memory is the memory involving procedures. While, explicit memory is the memory involving specific events or specific things.
So if someone has a memory about something but cannot recall it happening, what type of memory is that? Or, is that some type of dream?
Correct about what?
Answer: What you're asking is something different. Implicit memory is for things you use everyday. Not that you have to think about, for example: how to turn on a light, how to ride a bike. Its things that come "natural" to you and is not necessary for you to actually think about. Now explicit for example, is a memory like if you go on a picnic and you're trying to remember what you ate. You're retrieving, not just doing. For your question I would assume its explicit just because it doesn't involve you actually doing anything, and you're trying to recall it as well.

Question: How long should memory in a dell laptop last? I have had my laptop for two years with no problems but lately either the LED will go crazy and I'll be forced to manually turn it off or when I turn it off voluntarily, it will not reboot. The A indicator flashes and then the computer turns back off. Someone at dell told me I needed to replace the memory but will that fix my problem? How long is memory supposed to last? Is there something I can do to prolong the end of my memories life until I recieve the new memory in the mail?
Answer: Well as long as the memory has not been subjected to static discharges or overheating, the memory modules should outlast the computer itself. Before I went and bought new memory, I think I would try removing the chips and reinserting them. This usually fixes 95% of all memory chip related problems. Sometimes heat causes the chips to get loose. Removing them and reinserting them usually bring back the nice tight fit that they require. Oh I would take the battery out and unplug the power cord for 10-15 minutes before touching the memory chips.
Question: How does my memory work with regard to remembering to use my new password instead of my old? So, it's been two weeks since I changed my password. I use it every day, so I have not forgotten the actual password. However, when I go to log in I typically type my old password first. Can anyone tell me what part of the brain is responsible for this sort of thing, or what type of memory this is. It seems like a mix of muscle memory and rote memory -- though to be honest, I know nothing of memory, so I could be way off.
Answer: Actually there is short term memory and long term memory. If something is established into long term memory it tends to be there....well, long term. Otherwise things that you know could be temporary takes awhile for you to put into long term and they could stay in short term..which is easier forgotten. Eventually, with rote use it goes into long term and generally stays there....like multiplication tables. When I am evaluating the elderly for mental status I start with memory. Short term memory goes first, so I start by asking them what they had for breakfast ect....things most people would remember most of the time. Then I get into long term memory and that usually starts to fade away in order of the last put in. So they may forget how to do daily activities or if they did them that day....or was it yesterday? It eventually gets so bad that they forget who thier own children are......and then who they themselves are and where they are. If anyone is ever in this situation (a grown child with an elderly parent) and the parent doesn't remember who the grown child is...start back in thier memory at a place they remember and get them talking about it. You may have to go back in time quite a way but you will hit something and they will smile and start to talk about it. Then gradually start getting them to remember things further up in time. Eventually you can get them up to where you came into the picture and they will remember you are thier daughter or son. It helps to feel recognized. It only lasts for a few short minutes and then you may have to start all over again and they get tired quickly. So I say do it once and then let it go and just love them as they are. The mind is a marvelous subject isn't it. Guess that's why I love my work.
Question: What memory card does the Canon Powershot A1100IS camera come with? I want to buy myself a new digital camera and I have been highly considering this one because many people I know are happy with it. I was just wondering how much memory it came with and if you guys think I should buy a different memory card or not. Thanks!
Answer: The A1100 IS comes supplied with a small capacity card of only 128MB...which will only allow you to shoot approx. 39 images in the best quality. Or only 1 minute of video.
So, you really do need to buy another card with more capacity. I recommend either a 2GB SD card or a 4GB SDHC card.
2GB will allow approx. 626 images or up to 16 minutes of video. 4GB will allow double that.
You will want a fairly fast card. For a digital camera, don't buy a standard slow speed card (Class 2). The A1100 IS features Canon's latest Digic IV processor and has large 12MP files, including video....so for optimum performance, a fast card is best....you will need a fast Class 4 card (something like the excellent Sandisk Ultra II) or a Class 6 card at the very least.
p.s. make sure you format any brand new card before you use it the first time. The User Guide shows you how...also format it again whenever you need to delete ALL files from the card. Don't treat you memory card as a permanent storage device, so don't make a habit of leaving all your files on the card. Transfer them to your computer as often as you can, then delete them from the card by formatting it.

Question: How do i get a memory card to work in my printer? I have a hp psc 1350 printer. I need to load a memory card from my friends camera onto the computer and i do not have the cord. When i put the memory card into the printer it reads error. It does this with one of my memory cards too, but with another one it works. My friends card says Toshiba SD memory card and it is 256 MB. Is there a way i can get it to work, and somehow get the pictures on the computer?
Answer: You could buy a memory card reader, which would read any mermory card. However, it sounds like this memory card could be corrupted if your printer reads other SD's.

Question: How much memory does it take to load a video on the internet? Just recently I switched my internet provider and every month I get 90 gigs to use so I want to know how much memory it takes to watch videos. I`m into anime so if you know how much a 24 minute long video would take out of my memory then please tell me. Thanks in advance.
Answer: well, they don't watch your computer, they watch how much you're downloading and uploading in general to the internet. So in this case, you can't download and upload more than 90GB, which is a lot, to be honest (for me anyways). I think every anime episode, for me, is around 200MB...So how many anime videos is that, on average? Doing calculations is about 460 episodes.
edit: how am I completely wrong? The provider says "every months = 90GB" that means they're limiting the bandwidth. So I am NOT wrong. You can only download/upload a total of 90GB. They're not going to stalk your computer and say "ok, the user just installed a game from the store which was 5GB, add it up!". And this whole thing has nothing to do with memory, but hard disk space. Memory is referred to RAM, and I don't think that he is going to have 100 videos playing all at once.
Question: What is memory like photographic memory, but connected to things I read? I have exceptional memory, it's like photographic, but I memorize what I read, I heard a term for it on criminal minds, but I can't remember it. As I said it's connected to what I read. Thanks.
Answer: It is called an eidetic memory. In Criminal Minds, Dr Spencer Reid has it as well as an iq of 187 and the ability to read at 20,000 words per minute.
