EDIT.
Just a comment for Sawyers mom. Yes, water has minerals in it for a reason...the reason is that it is filtered through different kinds of rocks and substrates on it's way to the source we use for drinking. Depending on where in the country you live, and where your water supply comes from , the mineral content will vary considerably. There is no inherent health benefit in water that has more minerals vs water that has fewer minerals. It is water itself...H20..that the body requires.
Question: Why do my mineral/vitamin supplements state "take a few hours before or after other medication"? And by other medication, does that include other vitamin/mineral supplements? I know my aunt takes like five at once. What if I wanted to take a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement but an additional calcium one?
Thanks in advanced!
Answer: This warning is intended to reduce the possibility of a clash with prescription medication.
In most cases mixing natural medication or mixing vitamins/minerals is OK.
Question: Which of the following vitamin-mineral supplements need NOT be prescribed for an infant when breastfed beyond? Im stumped on this question and need help does anyone have a clue?
Which of the following vitamin-mineral supplements need NOT be prescribed for an infant when breastfed beyond 6 months of age?
A) IRON
B) Flouride
C) Vitamin D
D) Vitamin E
Answer: Where is the "all the above"?
None of them are necessary unless baby is showing signs of deficiency.
But I would guess that most Drs (who are completely ignorant about lactation and the dietary needs of a breastfeeding child) would say D.

Question: Are vitamin/mineral supplements an effective way to help prevent chronic disease? 2) Should antioxidant supplements be promoted to the elderly by their health care provider?
I need opinions for a paper i am writing in nutrition.

Question: Can one have an allergic reaction to vitamin and mineral supplements? Back in March, I had begun taking zinc supplements. After a couple of weeks, I began getting rashes over my arms. At first, I thought the root of the problem was bed bugs. I got topical medication for my rashes and it worked. I discontinued my zinc supplement intake. I recently began taking zinc again, and sure enough, my skin began to itch and get rashes. How is this possible?
Answer: Certainly you can be allergic to zinc. I have a friend who has the same exact problem. Either stay away from it or look for a health kinesiologist in your area who may be able to help you with this. If you don't know what that is, feel free to visit my blog at obviousowen.wordpress.com where I have a posting explaining it.

Question: What are the most important Vitamins and Mineral Supplements? What are they used for and how many grams/mg should be taken each day.
Answer: I use a multivitamin, this will cover most of all your bases. Depending on what you are trying to do an amino acid supplement is a nice addition. You can waste allot of money by getting individual bottles for all different kinds of vitamins and you will probably get more then you need. All of the extra you will most likely urinate out of your system.

Question: What are the best vitamins and mineral supplements for Hypothyroidism?
Are suprmarket multivitamins like swisse and multicenrum just fine ? or they just don't do?
Answer: As you said it is true that vitamins and minerals support health and also the function of all body parts. Many foods contain the minerals, vitamins (specifically vitamins C and A) and other nutrients essential to achieving proper thyroid function. These include broccoli, kale, peaches, spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, sprouts, figs, olive oil, rice, bran, rye and most dark green vegetables.
Try to avoid dairy products, and, of course, avoid use of alcohol, caffeine and any drugs. Switch to sea salt to season your food.
