Multi-vitamins
Question: multi-vitamins..? does nayone here take multi vitamins if so which ones are the best i just got back from the health food & vitamins store & got vitamins made out of natural food. The brand is a-1 herbs & vitamins & it is a multi vitamin for women. The lady said it helps with hormones & she takes them herself & notices a difference..if you take vitamins what kind and what changes & benefits do you notice?
im 14 years old.
Answer: The changes and benefits are that you will be replenishing your body with vital nutrients and minerals and you will feel better. However, taking too much vitamins can have disastrous results. For example, too much vitamin A can be fatal. The key is to take vitamins and minerals once a day. Make sure not to duplicate ingredients.
Question: Are my Complete multi-vitamins ok to take in the first few weeks of pregnancy? I just found out I'm pregnant and was wondering if multi-vitamins are ok to take in the first few weeks like first 4 weeks maybe?
Answer: I would atleast get the prenatal vitamins at the drugstore or at Wal-mart until you go to the Dr..The Multi-vitamins do not have all of your needed vitamins for the baby..Congrats on the Pregnancy!!
**Why would I get a thumbs down for this?? People are so ridiculous. I was only trying to help and said nothing rude**
Question: How safe are multi-vitamins and fish oil? Well im a full time athlete so ive been told i need more vitamins and minerals then the average person. So ive been taking a tablet form multi vitamin and fish oil everyday for the past few months. But i only take a 1/3 of the recommended dose of the multivitamin and only half of the fish oil dose. Can these two harm me in any way? Ive heard different things about multi vitamins and im just worried that there doing more bad then good.
Answer: They wont harm you...i take a multivitamin every day and fish oil as well...as far as the multvitamin, if your body needs it...it will absorb it..alot of the time you do nothing more than pee it out...however the fish oil..i thought it was weird at first..never heard of taking that...but i hurt my back pretty badly and my doctor , neurosurgeon, and pain management docs all recommended the fish oil...it is great for all your joints...does wonderful things..with you being an athlete, i would strongly suggest the fish oil..and the multivitamin is great as well...but do not substitute multivitamins over nutritious food.
Question: what are the best multi vitamins for dogs and puppies? im getting a weimXlab puppy soon and i would like to know what the best multi vitamins would be?
Answer: Supplementing is a great thing. You are smart. No pet food can be a 100% nutritional. Each animal is different and some require more of one thing than another. I feed Life's Abundance. It's an awesome food, no chemicals, preservatives, corn, gluten. It is all human grade with 4 meat proteins totalling 26% protein. I wouldn't give a dog any higher protein because there have not been enough studied on it. I use supplements made for dogs on HolisticPetMenu.com. You can email somebody from that site and they will get back to you. A vet formulates their products and all of it's USDA certified and APHIS certified. That means not only can the food be distributed here in the US but it can go to Europe too. Believe it or not Europe has more stringent laws on pet food than we do. They have a great selection of supplements too. I recommend a daily vitamin at this age. Glucosamine can be given at age 3 or around their, sooner if their is a joint problem. Most dogs stop producing their own Glucosamine at age 3.
Fish Oil is an essential but it must refined, rated a 5 by the IFOS and pure. Fish Oil should not be given with a meal but with a snack of like cottage cheese or pumpkin. Sometimes we can give too much of a good thing and when we do the body will not absorb any of it, so we will actually do them more harm than good. Most pet nutritionists can help you. Most regular vets are not taught nutrition. Holistic vets can help you too.
Make sure that you give supplements made spefically for pets. Also check their origin and make sure that they do not contain harmful chemicals, lacquers, tars and lead. Many pet and people supplements are loaded with the above. There are no laws governing supplements. But there are supplements that are FDA approved but it's not mandatory. Actually you would be surprised as to how many large well known companies make supplements for pets and people and they are NOT FDA approved. Holisticpetmenu.com's supplements are all FDA approved. Be careful when you feed a pet food and supplement together. You should really seek the advice of a professional like I did, so you don't harm your dog by over doing it. Supplementing can be wonderful, but tricky.
Question: Is it bad to take fish oil pills, prenatal vitamins, and multi vitamins all at the same time? I take fish oil pills and prenatal vitamins for my hair and nails (i'm not pregnant)
and i also take a daily multi vitamin but i take them all at the same time.
But just recently and right now for instance i took all 3 at the same time and now my stomach kind of burns.
Is it bad to take all 3 at the same time?
Answer: taking the fish oil and mult vitamin at the same time is ok, i do 3 times a day, as far as the prenatal vitamin, im not too sure. try taking the fish oil and mult same time then take the prenatal a few hours later
Question: Is it medically safe for a 17 year old kid to take multi vitamins? My niece wants to start using some multi vitamins, is it safe for him to do so, if not what are the dangers
Answer: It is not only safe for a 17 year old to take a multivitamin, but it is recommended. Most children do not get proper nutrition because they eat too much processed, pre-packaged, and fast food. A healthy lifestyle, including a good multivitamin that is all natural is important at every age whether you are 5 or 105.
Question: I was just wondering is it ok to take multi vitamins until you receive prenatal vitamins from your doctor? I took a pregnancy test about a week ago and it came out positive...I am now 6 weeks pregnant according to the first day of my last period...I have been taking multi vitamins for women for the last week..I Have made an appointment to see the doctor for the first time in a few days..is it ok for me to continue to take the multi vitamins for women until I get my prenatal vitamins?
Answer: As the top girl said why would you take regular vitamins when you can just buy prenatal vitamins at any drug store?
I'm pretty sure that the label on the reg vitamins says: "If pregnant, consult your doc before taking this product" so I wouldn't take it but otc prenatal vitamins will say: "Inform your doc that you are taking this product" so you have more free will to take them.
Good luck!
Question: Is it possible to overdose on multi-vitamins?And if so How many? Just wondering how many would it take IF you can overdose on Multi-vitamins?Or can you not have too much of a good thing?
Answer: Vitamin supplements are best avoided. In the UK at least deficiencies are rare and there is neither need nor therapeutic advantage in taking supplements. Recently there has been increasing concerns about what is effectively overdosing on synthetic vitamins. The fat soluble vitamins are the most potentially toxic, A to the eye, D to the kidney K to the blood clotting mechanism and E appears to increase all cause mortality. The most recent, and one of the most worrying papers concerns women taking multivitamins. There appears to be an associated 19% increase in the risk of breast cancer in women on multivitamin tablets, though further investigation is required to confirm that the risk is causal.
Question: what are some vegan multi-vitamins (brands i can find at a walmart?)? So I'm vegetarian, but eat vegan on most days [but about once a week I'll have some soy cheese that isn't dairy free,I'm planning to switch to a dairy free soy cheese next time i get some..for the mean time I'm vegetarian]
I eat of fruits, veggies, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, nuts, raisins, whole wheat bread, green tea, low fat soy milk, whole wheat pasta, home made vegan banana bread, beans and some "meat substitutes"(smart dogs, boca burgers, etc] sometimes.
Well I'm 14 and sometimes i tend to have a problem not eating enough calories. and the only foods i was wondering if it's a good idea to take a multi-vitamin, and which one is vegan that i can buy at wal-mart?
oh and I'm kind of confused on this multi vitamin thing..does that mean that one vitamin a day contains ALL the nutrients i need so that i don't have to worry about getting iron, b12 from cereal, etc..cause anything i eat that day is just EXTRA since I've already got the vitamins i need?
Please explain..
thanks!<3
to Bitter Bats:
Ohhhh trust I have done my re-search, and know everything i NEED and where to get it, i just don't always eat so much of what i know i need, and i have read that book, it's good but nothing i didn't know before :]
thanks anyways!
can someone please answer my question and give me the actual brands, etc???!!
=]
Answer: I do know some of Member's Mark's vitamins contain no animal products... These include Natural Vitamin C with Rose Hips, Calcium Magnesium & Zinc, and Vitamin B Complex.
Their flax seed oil supplement does contain animal products.
I think these vitamins are available at Walmart, but if not, they are at Sam's.
Question: Are taking multi-vitamins as good for you as eating the fruits and vegetables that have them naturally? I don't really like vegetables and fruits so i take a multi vitamin every morning, and was wondering what my question is stating.
Answer: No. It is always best to get them from a food source. It is also easier to absorb the nutrients/vitamins that way. Though, most of us do not get enough nutrition through food, so a vitamin is a complimentary way to insure you get what you need.

Question: survey- What is the difference between multi vitamins? After having swine for over 2 half weeks i been told i need to take multi vitamins along with my food in order to Boost my immune System But i cant chose what type lol One cost £3.39 and the other better brand costs £9.80 and they both look like they do the same thing... so what apart from the price would be the difference ?
Answer: The number of types of vitamins, their dosage, purity, etc. Unfortunately the consumer is not able to check out these things but have to go by the labels. Buy a reputable brand during their sale offers. Make sure it has some zinc and selenium (minerals) in it because these help to boost your immune system.
