Question: Can I extract a mushroom and its mycelium in a Jar (Terrarium) and grow it? Like take the mushroom/dig it out and place it and its mycelium structure in a "jar"/terrarium and grow it?

Answer: Unlikely. The mycelium consists of many metres of very fine, delicate threads so it would be almost impossible to extract. However it you harvested some spores from the mature mushroom and gave them suitable conditions, they should grow. John H

Answer: Mushrooms are not yeast.... they boost your immune system, which actually might help your body to fight yeast. Is that what you're asking? Otherwise, if you're looking for something to help Candida, I would suggest some probiotcs. The probiotics will help to provide a healthy intestinal ecology, which is very inhospitable for yeast growth (which means the yeast can't grow very well).

Answer: spores? like their 'seeds'? I think you could just shake the mushroom cap over a sheet of paper and they would fall out.

Answer: Hey I haven't tried it personally but i know some folks in the practice are looking into it for such things as cancer. They are a rare typr of mushroom it is from the Hymenochaetaceae family. It’s a parasitic fungus grown on birch trees. It looks like burnt charcoal. It is being researched for medical sciences and believed to own properties for anti cancer, anti diabeticefficacy and for improving immune function. It helps diabetics because its suppose to decrease glucose absorption by controlling digestive enzymes. I will ask the guys and let you know if i find anything else. Hope this helped

Question: Can someone allergic to mushrooms take Reishi extract? My girlfriends mother is ill with cancer and I've been finding numerous ways to help improve her health. One that I came across was Reishi Mushrooms, I know it would be greatly beneficial and help with the cancer, I also take Reishi extract as well. But apparently she is allergic to mushrooms, is it ok at all for her to take the Reishi extracts? Reishi is also supposed to have anti allergy properties. Though I have no idea if that would truly make a difference.

Answer: While Reishi mushroom extract can have antihistamine properties this capability probably won't be powerful enough to treat her allergic reaction to the extract if it's severe enough. Especially if she has anaphylactic reactions to mushrooms. Studies show that reishi mushroom extract has antioxidant properties and act like vitamin C in some ways. If she can't tolerate the extract there are lots of excellent antioxidants available in foods like pomegranate and others. Hope this helps.

Answer: No scientific documented evidence exists that any human being has ever been 'cured' from cancer using reishi mushroom . . so it is not effective although there may be some benefit . . but so far no one is certain what that will be . . save your money. Unfortunately multi-vitamins won't work either . . cancer cells are your own cells made from your DNA . . the use of multi-viatmins can make not only your body strong but your own DNA cancerous cells strong too. Anything you feed your body that is good for you could very well make the cancer stronger also. Make sure that anything you plan to use for cancer you check with your doctor so that you are not making the situation worse. The answer is false, gandoderma lucidum is not used to cure many kinds of cancer, but even though research is inconclusive it continues in hopes of finding some benefit for prostate or breast cancers. Question: Is it time to switch to a different face cream? I have been using Aveeno Daily Mosturizer and Night time cream for about ten years. I started at 25 and I am now 35 years old. My face is flawless and smooth. So my question is should I switch to something like the new Oil of Olay Regenerist or should I stick with Aveeno. The new Aveeno products have SPF of up to 40 and a new ingredient (shitake mushroom extract believed to have some curative anti cancer properties). Thoughts??

Answer: Olay is great to when you don't have sensitive skin almost all Olay PRODUCTS has alot perfume in it but is amazing to erase and prevent wrinkles. the Aveeno is great for sensitive if you have sensible to perfumes stick with Aveeno shitake mushroom extract .

Answer: I see no possible reaction mechanism possible. From the wiki below "Psilocybin is a zwitterionic alkaloid that is soluble in water, moderately soluble in methanol and ethanol, and insoluble in most organic solvents." So it will dissolve in the water base of your beer and only moderately with the ethanol (alcohol). The result is to keep in solution with no reduction in the compounds concentration. Keep in mind that Psilocybin inhibites the perception of alcohol. This means you can drink and not feel the affect. This is dangerous as it can lead to over use of alcohol and alcohol poisoning and in some cases death. Psilocybin (O-phosphoryl-4-hydroxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine) is a prodrug that is converted into the pharmacologically active compound psilocin in the body by dephosphorylation.[2] This chemical reaction takes place under strongly acidic conditions or enzymatically by phosphatases in the body. Psilocybin is a zwitterionic alkaloid that is soluble in water, moderately soluble in methanol and ethanol, and insoluble in most organic solvents. Albert Hofmann, the well-known chemist who discovered and experimented with LSD, was the first to recognize the importance and chemical structure of the pure compounds psilocybin and psilocin. Hofmann was aided in this process by his willingness to ingest extracts isolated from Psilocybe. Hofmann's colleagues at the University of Delaware were also trying to isolate the active principle, but were unsuccessful.[3]

If the gravy needs reheating, place over low heat and cook gently, while stirring, until warm. Do not boil. ------------- Mushroom Gravy 1 c fresh mushrooms, sliced 4 t olive oil 2 T flour 1 c vegetable stock 2 t vegetarian Worcestershire sauce ½ t dried oregano ½ t dried tarragon Saute mushrooms in 2 t of olive oil and set them aside. In a separate pan, stir the flour into the remaining 2 t of olive oil, and stir over low heat for 1 minute. Slowly add the stock, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. And of course, these have the added bonus of not having ingredients that you can't pronounce. Remove the gravy from the heat and add the Worcestershire sauce and herbs. Add the sauteed mushrooms. Makes 1 ½ c
